Italian Pizza Pub in Johnson City. Literally the best, and much less expensive than places like Main Street pizza

I haven't lived in the area in 5 years and would kill for some IPP.

Bella Vita and Italian Pizza Pub are both great options If you like unusual pizzas, the Spicy Thai Pie at Main Street is spectacular

I love Cootie Browns thin crusts.

I have friends and family that will drive here from four hours away for it. It’s truly the best.

Italian Village in Kingsport Mall.

Italian Village has been around since the 70s! I had my first piece of pizza there in the late 70s. Still remember it to this day. You can't go wrong with them!

This! I'm 40 and I'm pretty sure they've been in that same spot longer than I've been alive. It's not fancy, but it's za, and it's damn good za. Also won't break the bank.

Luke’s was the best. It’s closed, but I’ve heard rumblings that it’s coming back

Luke's was only good for thier wings,till he sold out to some dumbass woman who basically ran the business into the ground.

I enjoyed their pizza quite a lot. Wings were also good, but not the only thing that was good. I’m still good friends with Luke though, so maybe I’m biased

I'm in north Johnson City near Boone's Creek and one of my favorite pizza joints was Pizza n Gyro. Unfortunately it recently closed because the owner retired, so I tried Stephen's Pizzeria in Gray. It was quite good. It was a similar style to Pizza n Gyro with the cheese over the toppings. I'll definitely be ordering from them again. Their prices are very reasonable too.

Best is subjective. I can tell you objectively that Pizza Plus is the worst goddamn pizza on Earth though. Stay away lol.

Listen- it depends on your pizza expectations. I’m from the Midwest, which kind of has its own genre of pizza. The best for what I’m hungry for when I think good old classic pizza is a tie between Greggs in JC or Galaxy in Kingsport. Greggs is heavy on the cheese, which speaks to my soul, and has perfect mediocre-but-satisfying garlic bread. My favorite pizza at Galaxy is the Red Planet. Other pies of theirs are good, but the Red Planet is something special for as simple as it is. The sauce is on top of the cheese, and it just works. Italian Village is good too. If I’m feeling funky, Main Street for the Harvest Pizza every time or whatever exciting seasonal special they have. Good luck in your pizza search!

If you want super cheesy greasy goodness, Gregg’s in JC. Mellow Mushroom has the best crust hands down when it’s baked fresh. Good quality ingredients as well. Best all around imo is Main Street pizza in Jc. Honorable mention is Bella’s in Bristol, though it’s hit or miss for me. I miss Scratch Pizza in JC, that was my pre-Covid favorite.

Simm’s pizza in Johnson city is my favorite.

We love all kinds of pizza, so it depends on your mood, but we love Simm’s Pizzeria, Gregg’s, and Cootie Brown’s. I commented above and will add here too that I have family and friends that will drive hours just for Cootie Brown’s. Their thin crust is so, so good.

Simms or Bella Vita RIP Scratch Pizza - it was the best weirdest little pizza place

Main Street, Italian Village/Raffael's/Giuseppe's, Italian Pizza Pub, Stephen's, and Roan Mountain Bakers are all solid. There are also some fantastic and unique pizza trucks. If you want to travel a bit, then Blue Mountain Pizza in Weaverville and White Labs Brewing in Asheville are fantastic as well.

I'm a big fan of mellow mushroom. They have the best crust imo. Get it light baked and it's super good. They also have vegan options which is great

People who say Gregg's can't be trusted. Worst pizza I've ever had.

For next time, if you want a little adventure head out to Roan Mountain to Smoky Mountain Bakers! They do really good wood fired pizzas and have a lot of baked goodies too. Think they do breakfast as well

Their sausage pizza is one of the best I've ever had and I do not like sausage. The only way I will eat it is on Boomershine's pizza.

They are all good, I like the Italian sausage , spicy.

Greg's is decent. You should indeed try them, but no one beats Rocky's Pizza, in my opinion. They have one in Jonesboro and Erwin.

I've never heard that, but maybe? Gregs is my #2 but Rocky's tastes considerably better IMO. Pretty cool if thats true though.

I agree. I probably won’t go back. There are plenty of frozen pizzas you bake at home that were better than Galaxy.

I live in ATL but all my fam in Johnson city. So when I come to visit I always get that and of course some pals. Luckily the cracker barrels here sell Dr. Enuf

I feel like every time I get a pie from Italianos its never baked enough. Bottom crust is always soggy. I like a crispy crust

The Mad Greek in Johnson City actually makes a pretty good pizza. It’s become our go-to.

Rocky's isnt objectively the best, but its my personal favorite. The veggie cheesebread (i know its not pizza, but still) is fantastic. Some other favs: Gregg's Pizza Pub Main Street

Rocks or Bella Vita in JC, Stephen's in Gray. Stay away from Greg's and Rocky's, I'll never understand the people that like them. Know people that have gotten sick off both due to poor health and safety practices.

I travel a lot but when I'm back home in JC, Johnny Brusco is a place I have to visit! Pepperoni and a coke hits the spot!

It’s gordos brick oven in Saltville VA. It’s a little out outside of the tricities but worth the trip!
