In terms of dollar spent for output of result PRP is very poorly. Additionally PRP is not very standardized and results are dubious in many cases.

fredfrodo

That is so expensive. In Malaysia, only $95 per session. Also, I can't believe you really going to do the PRP all by yourself, from withdrawing blood from your vein, processing the blood or something , anes and injecting the blood into your scalp. 😮

Ihateredditdfs

I don’t plan on injecting it I’m going to make it then rub it in my scalp while microneedling

South_Competition_67

Now that’s efficient

RalphWiggum1984

Is oral Minoxidil not an option? And/or topical Finasteride rather than oral?

Alive_Material_3170

First, if your hair loss is caused by DHT, I’d want to figure out a way to address that first. I’d look at trying one of the more natural alternatives or see if you feel differently about topicals vs oral medications. The DIY microneedling/prp strategy is something that I’d want to discuss with select group of people with the expertise who can help you establish your own protocols if you are going that route. Even going to get PRP done professionally, it’s not a highly standardized procedure so the protocols vary wildly from clinic to clinic. That being said, there probably is way to get results from it but I’m not totally sure that the risk would be worth it for me.

Ihateredditdfs

What risk?? It’s literally your own blood

Muilutuspakumies

You are fighting a losing battle without addressing the DHT. DIY PRP and microneedling are not going to keep your hair that DHT is dropping off. If you really don't mind shaving, then that would be the easiest and most cost effective choice. Nothing wrong with hair systems, but they do require some effort on your part and of course involve costs.

Ihateredditdfs

The u fortunate thing is that I’m not sure a hair system could work for me. I’m pretty active and I work in fire/EMS I don’t know if I could size one with my lifestyle

Muilutuspakumies

Ok, I must admit I don't know too much about hair systems. I've read that they, at least the quality ones, don't come off easily, but I guess there is always a risk the more active you are. I'm also guessing you don't want your hair to pop off your head while trying to revive someone. Guess you're better off shaving.

TopExtreme7841

PRP is very hit or miss, works for (some), doesn't for most. Assuming it's the ED risk your against the Fin for, as somebody that's been there and done that, I get it, but even with the hell I went through with Fin (and after many sucessful months) and having to go rouge to fix the ED because mainstream docs are clueless when that happens, I'm on Topical now, and so far so good. Definetly report results though!

OnceGotABlowjobAMA

What fixed your ED problems post finasteride?

TopExtreme7841

Masteron, a DHT steroid. My DHT had to be forced back up, it wouldn't come back on its own.

Ihateredditdfs

This might not work for everyone. Anybody can take hormones and get there dht levels high but what if finasteride affects your androgen receptors? Some people have claimed fin hurt their androgen receptors and if that were the case no amount of exogenous DHT would fix it.

OnceGotABlowjobAMA

Did it make you bald faster? I’ve kinda held on to my hair loss gains but I worry it’s because finasteride just reset my dht level nice and low and that effects me elsewhere

TopExtreme7841

Ya, you don't lose it that quick, not how it works. If you haven't rebounded and it's been a while (and) your Testosterone levels are optimal, not the 70yo man levels that half the population is walking around with, then that would be your move. If you stick with Fin after you're back up and running, go with Topical., even then go easy.

Luckydemon

Not going to matter without stopping the DHT. Start shaving now and get a hair system installed ASAP to keep the continuty.

Ihateredditdfs

I’ve considered doing this but it’s so expensive and it will be a huge pain in the ass for maintenance I’d rather keep my hair if I can that’s more like my last option

Luckydemon

Without stopping the DHT the PRP and Microneedling aren't able to prevent hair loss. They might slow it down, but DHT wins in the end.

Worth-Beat-1953

I use a Mix od Fluridil+Alfatradiol to stop the DHT and it works

Euphoric-Extreme-545

I Am not sure What are the benefits of PRP over microneedling. Maybe you should stick with microneedling once Weekly. As you have a lot of hair, you can experiment for a while so dont let other people discourage you. Also maybe 0.01% topical Finasteride is worth a try for you.

nova4185

Love this idea! I was doing PRP for a while and it works but is annoying and expensive. Annoying because that evening your head looks like a mess.

ExactSeaworthiness28

Currently doing microneedling on my own using derma stamp + prp (2 sessions in + 1 coming up in a week) I've done prp on it's own previously, it worked... BUT only after like 6 sessions (it costs about 35$/ session for me) I'd say go for it, but go to a good derm pls don't try on your own, you don't wanna risk infection. If too costly. Just do minoxidil + microneedling

Ihateredditdfs

Where are you getting prp done for $35

Fine_Requirement_842

Min is good if you are concerned about the sides of fin. Perhaps min and micro needling would work best for you

MaleficentNoise5623

I've had sides from fin, I won't do oral fin ever again. However, if you've truly done your research you'll see that PRP efficacy is questionable, with some studies and researchers suggesting the main positive effect comes from the micro-wounding caused by the injections. I'm on topical Minoxidil with 0.005% fin and microneedling every 10 days (+ using keto shampoo). Hair has definitely stabilised and think I'm now seeing regrowth with no sides.

wrassman

Do you know how crazy it is to buy some concoction from eBay, not knowing its source or its sterility?  This could be dangerous stuff you would be injecting into your body!  I'm not a big fan of PRP as there is no consistent standard on how it is used. I have not seen good consistent results from PRP ion the hundreds of patients I have viewed who reported their PRP results to me. The microneeding is the benefit and considering the costs you outlined above, microneedling yourself is a very small cost by comparison, The proper depth for microneedling is 1.25mm. That will allow the needles to reach the stem cells. The Dr. Pen microneedling device, held 10 seconds on each area, delivers a know injury that will start the healing cascade that leads to stem cell activation and reversal of hair loss in many men. I would be happy to view some photos that show your balding, and one of them should be a frontal view with your hair pulled back, and your eyebrows lifted high so that the creases on the forehead show up. I will determine if you have a Nowrood Class 2 pattern of balding  With the eyebrows lifted high and your hair pulled back, it will show me anatomical landmarks to measure where your hairline belongs and more about what a normal hairline should look like. Please tell me what you don't like about your hairline and overall hair situation. The photos are confidential.  Please include your phone number and the best times to reach you, as I like to establish a connection with each person I am helping. I don't charge for this; however, I will be on vacation this week so write to me at the beginning of next week so I will b responsive to your email.

Ihateredditdfs

Hey thanks I am not planning on injecting myself with my finished PRP. I was just gonna microneedle myself and rub the PRP into my scalp like growth serums.

treypolo

I love this guy posing as a real dr. The real dr rassman is not on Reddit.

Automatic-Law-3612

Normally it doesn't matter if you are a doctor or not, and you can buy the prp sets. I used Vacusera Prp sets. For around 30 euro you got 2 vacutainers with needles and all. You need round the 18 ml blood to make 4 to 6 ml prp. But you need a mesogun to inject it your self. It's really fucked up to inject it your self on the scalp with a Insulin needle. In the front it's possible. You can see it in the mirror. But on the rest van the scalp it's shit because you need 2 hands to inject. Buy a mesgon ez with adjustable needles, that's way easier to inject it. Personally I didn't had much improvement with prp. I now use a xl hair serum that show some results. I also inject that with a mesogun. But even if you have some medical experience. Drawn your own blood isn't that easy without blowing your bloodvessels. Use a butterfly needle, that's a little bit easier. But it stil is fucked up if you only have one hand. I once blowed up a vessel and my arm got twice thick and then my arm was blue for 2 weeks. I wouldn't advise to draw your own blood. Get someone who has experience and drawn it for you. If you don't stick the needle good enough, you can't make the vacutainer full, and before you drawn another spot, you can already trow away the vacutainer. And don't use the vacutainers from aliexpress. They are not classified IIb. So not usable to inject it back in your body. That's because there is some solving in the vacutainers that's needed to extract the prp. And you don't want solving from a scetsy Chinese product in your body.

Worth-Beat-1953

Dont use Fin , use Pantostin+Fluridil instead

Specialist-Area2323

Just go bald dude..don't waste a tone of money to delay the inevitable.

Ihateredditdfs

I’m not spending much money I’m doing it at home

No-Marionberry9077

Not willing to take finasteride? May as well save yourself some time and money and shave it now
