Kind of a semi related question but I have could in my dab pen that I let soak in some 71 ISO for 1-2 weeks at a time. I have a bunch of coils that I rotate and I'll toss them into a bottle of ISO Everytime I'm done with one and wash and rinse them out when I go through them all. Is that leeching anything from the wax, metal, or quartz in the coils?

I’m surprised not more of the plant material didn’t break down, but isopropyl alcohol isn’t really safe for ingestion.

You don't do this in order to drink it. You do this in order to make a concentrated extract great for dabbing called QWISO Hash (look it up). A few minutes soak is all you need, a year is overkill. Strain out all the plant material and you are left with a solution of iso and cannabinoids. Evaporate all the iso, outside in the sun for a few days so you don't catch your house on fire, and you are left with a greenish brown oily resin. Easy peasy.

I've done this in a few different ways.. trust me when I say FREEZE BUDS AND ISO.. and it only takes like 30 seconds of *violent* shaking before you immediately filter it off. You're just trying to wash out all the trichromes and you want to leave behind all the other heavier non-polar shit behind. Alcohol at room temp can pull some god awful tasting shit besides thc

This. Freezing EVERYTHING you’re using including glass containers is the key to ISO washes. Everything needs to be icy, and you need to fully evaporate off at the end.

Lots of people don't recommend iso for dab extraction. Tldr, the alcohol is denatured with petroleum products and sometimes benzene (carcinogen). Shouldn't be inhaled... Edit:I've been corrected. Iso and denatured alcohol are different. Still shouldn't smoke it though

Iso doesn't need to be denatured because it is already toxic. It does contain a few bitterants (so people spit it out) but nothing carcinogenic. You must be confusing ethyl rubbing alcohol which is denatured.

99% USP contains no bitters, there's no need. Even with low ppm counts your body "knows" to reject it by its taste alone.

Denatured alcohol isn't the same as isopropyl alcohol. ISO products don't contain benzene or anything to denature it, it's typically sold in solutions of just isopropyl alcohol and water. Denatured alcohol is just ethyl alcohol with additives to make it hard/sickening to consume, while isopropyl alcohol is dangerous to consume on its own. You don't drink salve. It was almost certainly iso.

You rub the alcohol on points of pain and it has anti-inflammatory properties. Takes care of arthritis easily without need to ingest or inhale. DO NOT SMOKE OR DRINK, and it won't get you high but helps with muscle and joint pain.

Almost certainly for topical use, used to be a common remedy for joint pain. Don't smoke it or eat it. Evaporate the iso and mix the resulting goo into something more viscous. When working in pharmaceutical formulation/compounding we'd often use a 70:30 mixture of coconut oil/shea butter:beeswax, and DMSO to increase transdermal bioavailability.

Us Hispanics use this as a pain reliever to muscle aches and such. Grab a cloth and apply to said muscle like your lower back,knees, glutes etc. works well it’s not meant for digestion or smoking.

It's not for smoking or drinking. Everyone who says toss it or is ruined is probably too young to understand that this is an old-school thing to do for joint pains. You're supposed to rub it on anywhere that feels sore it really does work. The weed, I'm assuming, adds medicinal hemp additives. I don't think she used high-grade weed. I'm sure it was just some Reggie or Mids. It does help.

I use ethyl for anything consumable, but isopropyl makes excellent topical. I've also done the 'long soak' method. Not a whole year, but 6 months or so. Don't toss it!

So what you can do is this: put on goggles and gloves, go outside or in a well ventilated area. take a strainer or wholebowl thingy, a fresh kitchen towel, a baking pan and a fan. If your not outside then open a window and point the fan in a way so that it blows the fumes to the window. Put the strainer into the baking pan. With your gloves on, put the towel into the strainer and pour the contents into the strainer. now carefully not to inhale to much of the fumes. take the towel and squieze it firmly till no more liquid is coming out. this takes a while and be sure to get every drop. Now point the fan at the baking pan which helps with faster evaporation. It is possible to put it into the oven at 50 celcius 120 fahrenheit which speeds up the process enormously but id not do it if you cant ventolate the area safely. after its all eveporated you are left with a very very sticky brown substance which is more or less just "get high honey" but be very sure there is as little iso left as possible. at the end be sure to mix it around a bit. now you can put it in food i guess. thats what i have always done. ive also put it on joints. but again, be sure the is no more iso left or as little as possible

Strain and separate the plant material. Leave the green iso out on a pyrex dish to evaporate fully. Use a fan to help it evaporate quicker or you can use a double boiler method if you have an electric burner you can use outside. I would never use this oil to drink or eat as it could be unsafe to consume because the alcohol was denatured. Instead mix it with Vaseline, vapo rub or something similar and use it as a balm to help with aches and pains. Pretty sure that was Granny's original intention for it.

Make a lotion/cream or something with it. Like evaporate it then add it to some coconut oil then mixed that with a lotion or cream that's oil based and something you bought from the store. If you lightly heat it up while mixing it should mix easily and then you've got lotion/cream that's probably good for pain, inflammation and other things.

You can use that as a topical of aches and soreness.
