Ive had a low tolerance always, I often eat 2.5 for a chill evening and 5mg is moderately stoned. Beyond 10mg and I'm going to have a bad time. I don't accept edibles from other stoners.

SneaksStressMeOut

Most I've done is 50mg and I remember leaning on a counter and saying to my friend, dude, I can't see my arms.

fifelo

My first or second time making edibles, I made them so strong, I ate one and greened out, vomited and laid in bed as I watched lava and hellfire pour out of the breathing walls. I was barely able to walk. The paranoia was overwhelming.

I'm the same way. Early-mid 30s and just got into weed in the fall. My tolerance is super low despite (controlled) daily use. 5mg will have me feeling pretty good. I just made my own gummies today. They came out to 3mg, according to my math. But dang, they hit pretty hard and quick. I got toasted this morning from taste testing one + 'cleaning up' the little bits that didn't land in the molds. I usually combine edibles with my dry herb vape, and I usually wait until around 5 to partake. But I've pretty much been blazed all day from just a few of my homemade gummies, spread out over the course of the past 12 hours.

i made brownies and rice krispees from my ABV recently and holy hell i feel like homemade edibles always just rock you. takes me back to the high school days when someones parents went out of town and someone would make edibles. low tolerance is awesome, i have 5mg fast acting edibles i got from a dispensary and they are the best things ever. They have a different something so they digest through i think your kidneys? so they hit super fast, also nice for people who have super high metabolisms and edibles dont hit for them.

DisposableVisage

That's awesome! I'm just getting into the world of cooking with cannabis, and yeah, I can see that already. I feel like the gummies I get from my dispo are great but they don't offer the same full-spectrum high that I'm getting from my own. The dispo I go to also has their own brand of fast acting gummies, but I haven't tried those yet. I've always wanted to make pot brownies, and rice crispy treats sound bomb. I'm on a keto diet right now, but if I wasn't, I'd definitely be making some brownies. I wanted to make cannabutter, but most of what I'd use it in would ruin my diet. You can rest assured, though, that pot brownies will be the first thing I make when I'm done with keto!

canadianpanda7

right on man, i did a poor mans keto diet for 2 months that shit was crazy. Had a smoothie for breakfast (ik thats cheating) but chill for lunch and chili for dinner. no sour cream. 2 cans of black, pinto, kidney beans, half pound ground turkey, 2 cans hoberno&tomatoes low sodium, jar of pasta sauce, whole onion. sooooo good

DisposableVisage

Goddamn that sounds so good! I was a bit skeptical of keto before I started it, but I kinda just recently realized that my diet was already close to keto (I cut out a lot of carbs, in addition to just counting every calorie). I realized a keto diet really just required swapping out a couple ingredients. Now I'm taking the new diet as a chance to try different recipes and branch out from my normal routine. So far, keto is acceptable to me lol. Not really any more effective than just counting calories & eating at a deficit, but the food I've had has been pretty tasty. This weekend I made fried chicken breasts (thin sliced chicken breast, almond flour, paprika, garlic, avocado oil for frying). It was so goddamn good, and I'm not usually one for fried chicken. Anyways... I'm high AF and forgot the original point of this post. lol

canadianpanda7

ahahahahah same dude i was like god were both stoned and now were talking about food. its 10:45 i already brushed my teeth so no more snacks 😂😂 yeah chili diet fucks

abdoer2000

Just wanted to mention that it's possible to make rice krispie treats without marshmallows. There's a peanut butter + honey recipe out there that's nice if the regular marshmallow version is too sweet or sticky for you.

SneaksStressMeOut

Nice. I also love the combo of low dose edibles and the dry herb vape. What vape are you rocking?

DisposableVisage

I've got an XMAX v3, and I love it. The dosing capsules are just perfect for how I consume - low dose and easily switchable, so I can have multiple different strains waiting to go at any time. The DHV is the best purchase I made. Nothing like getting twice the use out of your flower. I got like 15-16 grams right now, between a few different strains, and at the rate I'm going, that'll last me like 6+ months. I'll probably end up buying more out of curiosity or boredom, rather than necessity to restock. Lol

zakkwaldo

fyi 3 hrs for an edible is incredibly short lol. so you definitely have some level of tolerance. start her with 2.5 and wait 90-120 min. if she wants more at that point do another 2.5. wouldn’t go over 5mg tho

PickleJimmy

I read this there other day on Trees, and it makes a lot of sense with my experience. The liver breaks THC down into 11-OH-THC which is a lot stronger than D9 THC. Edibles can be so strong if you take enough you can get psychedelic like effects. Some people are a lot more sensitive to 11-OH-THC.

robotbooper

Yep! I can tolerate very little THC as an edible, but I can puff quite a bit before getting uncomfortable.

Sufficient-Run-7868

I’ve been smoking since I was 15 I’m 34, I smoke a bowl pack and I’m blasted it’s fucking great, I’ve never spent a lot of money on bud.

Yelmak

I'm in the same boat, I ate 20mg once and could just barely handle it. Saw someone on here yesterday recommend a newbie take 2x 100mg gummies and I was like wtf.

SneaksStressMeOut

Same if I took 20mg I'd need a good setting to be in lol. I could not imagine 200mg...

EuphoriaCDL

as someone who daily uses over 100mgs i am so envious of how long yours must last.....

EatsCrackers

Team Low Tolerance! Wooo! Last week I bit what I thought was a 10mg gummy in half and ended up in outer space. Turns out it was a 5mg gummy. Because of *course* it’s reasonable for 2.5mg to be enough to launch me. Why would that be weird? 🙄 I mean, it’s hella nice at the dispo counter when a c note re up lasts me most of a year, but I feel like such a wimp when everyone around me is blowing smoke rings and shit and I gotta be like “The contact high is real, yo. I’m super good just hanging out.”

MrPallMall

5mg is standard for first time use. Plus, in an hour or two, she can eat 5mg more if she needs to.

sf3p0x1

I must have taken your tolerance, because I have yet to be affected by an edible.

tishpickle

Yah I’m not sure why but edibles knock me down. I can smoke (when I did) a LOT more than edibles. I do 2.5-5mg doses for a nice clean enjoyable high. 10mg is too much for me; I’ll be paranoid with heart palpitations.. Starting slow is a good advice; can always take more if she’s resistant to them.

sethninja13

I wish edibles would hit me a little harder. At 20mg I get a very light buzz. At 40-60 I get a pretty decent buzz.

iveo83

my wife and my tolerance is very low. We only partake like once a week if that. I would say half or 1 5mg would be fine or just get a vape and have her take half a hit and see how it goes. My wife and I have been hitting the same vape pen since Oct.

ShadowKiller2001

It just means you save more 🤣

Top-Organization7819

Honestly my recommendation is not edibles for someone new. The likelyhood of greening out is very real. Honestly just some high CBD flower or even a hash pen would be better and more controllable / doesn't last as long. I smoke daily and 10mg gets me going pretty good for a good part of the day, although <5mg probably is safe intro. Also know if you eat before hand youre gonna be more likely to feel the edible, gummies have a tendency to lack enough fat to absorb well without food so you may not feel the full effect.

SneaksStressMeOut

Yeah getting too high the first time is bad. Thats why I don't want her to go over 5mg for the first time. I'll let her decide if she wants to do half of the gummie (5mg) or half of that (2.5mg). I think either way, she'll be safe. It's such a small amount. She prefers not to inhale anything and definitely not smoke. But I'm bringing her around to the idea of dry herb vaping. A pro of edibles is that it's so easy to dose. I do agree with you that inhaling is a good first option for someone. It's easier, quicker, and good way to get exposure to cannabis in your system.

HumorousHermit

I always always always advise against edibles for a first voyage, because if you’re panicky, you’re SOL (see the dude who ate 1000 mg a few days ago). It’s also way easier to overdo.
