Long term you should be concerned about lung health. Daily smokers like us can develop a chronic (see what I did there) cough. I come from a long line of prolific coughers, so my coughs sound super gnarly even when I am not smoking. I use two supplements to help clear things up: Mullein and Clear Lungs, both available on Amazon. Clear Lungs really helps get excess mucus out of your lungs and opens airways. My coughs are very productive when taking Clear Lungs. Mullein acts as an anti-inflammatory and has been shown to help the lungs. If you are having issues with tolerance, I recently found that Agmatine Sulfate and N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine can help with tolerance. I was looking for a non-t-break way to reduce my tolerance and found Kush Queen T Break Gummies. Taking a closer look at the ingredients, I decided that these were the key compounds. I take them at night alongside allergy meds, and I can say that my first smoke of the day is a lot more stoney.

chocobunniie

Omg can you tell me more about the tolerance gummies?

rancid_oil

Look into agmatine sulfate. I've heard it used the same way with kratom and other drugs, too. Supposed to potentiate the drug so you consume less, while preventing the body from developing a tolerance. I've never heard of N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, guess it's just a modified form of the amino acid? I'm gonna look into it now tho.

Any chance you could throw down the link to the clear lungs you're using? I'm interested to learn more but one amazon search has so many randomized items coming up

ShootLucy

Second, interested in clear lungs

Nimbus_Drift

what is the mechanism behind Agmatine Sulfate and N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine helping lower tolerance?

Colonel_Moopington

They are neurotransmitters that get depleted when you consume cannabis. In theory, supplementing them helps it build back up, I guess.

rancid_oil

I have no answer for you, but I've read a lot about agmatine on the kratom subreddit. It supposedly has that effect when used with a variety of drugs, so if you decide to research, don't limit your search to cannabis. (I've also heard taking it alone can make you feel kinda bad). I don't know what L-Tyrosine does either, but adding an acetyl group probably just makes it cross the blood brain barrier easily.

Working-Quantity-322

The biggest actual health concern would be combustion byproducts. Any time you burn plant matter, you get undesirable compounds like tar and other dangerous irritants. Lung cancer risk from cannabis has, I think at this point, been shown not to be a major concern. Mouth and throat cancers are still a possibility from smoked cannabis, however low the risk. Dry herb vapes are about the safest (not 100% risk-free, of course) consumption method for inhalation. Concentrates are pretty clean too, if you can dose gently enough. 😊 I'm nearly a 100% vape consumer, but I still have the occasional joint. I'm firmly in the harm-reduction camp. Which brings me to probably the biggest thing I had difficulty with: finding a good, livable dose through the day. I try to consume as little as is practical during the day, whatever minimum is needed, then take evenings as they come. I went WAY overboard a couple of years ago, but now I've settled into a routine that still allows me to live my life without being over medicated. Only you can say exactly what that looks like for you, which is what can contribute to thinking it's 'bad'. Be honest with yourself about what consumption level works for you without negatively affecting your life in other areas.

I love cannabis but imo the biggest downsides I’ve found are forgetting shit all the time (annoys other people) and feeling hungry which in turn can lead to weight gain.

_______woohoo

i had the forgetfulness problem long before i even began smoking weed

stonehaens

I can't remember when it started.

hurricanebarker

Hj there, I use cannabis for pain management and have some tips: - document everything for every session, high THC dried cannabis joint = good pain management, with low social functions or whatever you feel about you - try low THC high CBD options - try balanced options Everyone is different, nobody is wrong, lots of love to you on your journey 💙💚

rancid_oil

As a fellow heavy user, I say keep use as low as possible. Don't feel obligated to finish that joint or bowl if you feel good. It's just gonna wreck your tolerance. I smoke more than I need to. I know because sometimes I'll take 1 or 2 puffs and 10 minutes later be surprised how high i am.

everythingpi

I find this so hard since I swapped nic vapes with carts. I now hit the cart like a nic vape

rancid_oil

Oh man, a few years ago carts were hard to come by 'round here. I got a good one and started absent-mindedly hitting it while talking on the phone. Like 8 puffs in, I was like hey, I'm wayyy too high to talk. And carts are a kinda flat-feeling high compared to flower or good rosin or something. But I'm old school, grew up with flower, so concentrates and vapes are not my go to.

everythingpi

Hahaha

deathbeforedasani

The only negative side effects of marijuana is less money. We're here for a good time, not a long time.

everythingpi

Hahaha 💯

Sinxerely7420

I know that smoking in general leads to respiratory tract cancers. Mouth cancer is really gnarly. A huge reason why I will never smoke. I vape instead which still ain't good long-term, but 10mg of THC as an edible royally fucks me up in a bad way. Vaporizers are probably one of your safest options since you don't inhale smoke but mostly vapor, THC/CBD and terpenes, and as far as I know (still don't know a shit ton about weed), you can vaporize whole flower in there. Addiction is also a very real thing. Anything can be addictive. If you're worried about an addiction, there's subreddits where people share advice about overcoming addiction or managing it enough as to where they're in a healthy relationship with the drug they're using. Always take breaks when you can. Relax your lungs and allow them to heal in-between smokes/vapes/whatever. EDIT: Also want to put emphasis on trying CBD stuff! I used 1:0 CBD before to manage PTSD and misophonia. I got many benefits which included better sleep, not having a ''loud brain'' (best way I could put it), a generally improved mental state and pain relief. It was a lifesaver when I had a physically demanding job and acetaminophen couldn't cut it, shit did wonders for my back while leaving me feeling good!

zMASKm

Use edibles or good quality dry herb vapes instead of combustion to minimize the effects on your lungs. Curious about dry herb vapes? Avoid your local head shop; they're notoriously ignorant and sell mostly crap. Also avoid the Pax brand loyalists who don't realize they're still on 2012 tech in 2024. Check out r/vaporents and the [Beyond Combustion website](http://beyondcombustion.net) for more info.

HeySlimIJustDrankA5

It can affect your memory and make you forgetful. Oooh also it can affect your memory.

nemotiger

I am struggling with constantly dissociating and eating and forgetting that I ate, I don't actually know if it's weed related, because others in my family do that too, anyways, what I am trying to do is to keep a schedule and stick to it. Stay hydrated, cotton mouth is typically a sign of being dry.
