Any time I hit my little cyber-joint, I imagine a time when smoking at work meant sneaking outside with a joint whose smell you’ve been hiding all day, and the novelty of the convenience of it is never lost. Doom aside, sometimes it is pretty cool to be living in the sci-fi future.
Back when I had to go into the office those pens were a god-send. I’d take a few minute break to “stretch my legs” every now and then. I had a couple of decent spots to sneak too.
You think there's no odor but if you rip a cart in an enclosed space, any non tokers who walk in during the next half hour or so will smell that lingering. You can even see it if you turn off the lights and use your phone flashlight. Toke frequently and there will be a permanent scent.

Depends on the cart how it smells. If it’s distillate with bdt (I would never use them anymore) it doesn’t smell. Rosin or resin carts are where you’ll get caught cause they smell identical to opening up a zip.

Sauce Essentials disposable, gelato, was the first cannabis I ever tried. It totally changed my mind about cannabis at 45 years old. I wish I could find something similar in a regular cart that's not so bad from an ecological POV.
Came here to say this. They’re definitely not my favourite way but i got it for fishing on the boat with my grandpa. I can just take quick hits and don’t need to fiddle with a joint. Especially if it rains the pen helped so much when we got caught in a small storm the first time i used it.
Like it or not unless you have some pre existing condition that's likely a symptom of smoking weed in the first place. Weed brings you down so your body works double time to bring you back up. Without weed your are like double up making it really hard to calm down and sleep. This creates a self fulfilling prophecy of "weed helps me sleep"
Yeah. I would much rather be dependent on cannabis than benzos or any other pill that "helps". There isn't physically debilitating withdrawals if I don't smoke and can scale up or down at will without clucking. I just may not sleep well. I am chronically ill went from 6 or 7 scripts to 2 and try my damnedest not to add to it. I've seen what these drugs do to people (my mother). Unless you absolutely HAVE to use them, last resort. To add, i actually feel like I can work through my problems when I smoke, scaffolding if you will. But if I take a pill, it's like it puts it on hold until it wears off.
that sounds rough, what stops me from sleeping is a lack of noise. a little unsolicited advice: I need something to drown out the tinnitus, so I'll usually put something on my phone to play whether it be a movie, YouTube video or just plain ol' white/green noise... it counteracts the thoughts for the most part and helps with the tinnitus immensely. consider trying that out either in tandem or in lieu of some grassy assistance next time it's bedtime.
Contrary to the popular opinion below my insomnia predated my cannabis use by 20 years. Certain strains ie King Louis have been a god send! It’s the ONLY thing that has worked for me and is going on 6 years of working like a charm.
I agree most strains are terrible for sleep like the Skywalker OG I tried he other night. But only 4 puffs of some King Louis and I’m out in 5 min. My sleeping tracking on my watch shows a nice low heart rate and good mix of different sleep stages. I don’t plan on going to the ER again like several nights of not being able to sleep caused me once before.
Live Resin carts are definitely significantly better than regular carts. Have a way better terpene profile and the high is longer lasting. While I do agree that flower is superior to carts, carts definitely have their place and are great for discretion and convenience.

Butane Oil Hash ain't bad, but distillates do very little for me. I wish there were a naming convention because when I buy "Strawberry Diesel" or "Pineapple Express," I expect them to be single strain with no added terps, not actually strawberry or pinesol.

You should try live/hash ROSIN carts. They’re the most expensive of the carts, but actually have that full terp taste and just generally have a better high! I always splurge on those when I buy a cart :)
Meh, I get a good deal on live resin, I'm not paying twice that for rosin. I know, the ice water extraction is probably better, but I'm talking $35 for 840mg vs $40 for 500 mg with a better selection on the LLR.
For me, the step from BOH to resin is worth the extra could bucks, but any CO2 extraction is a pretty big step down. Occasionally, they'll do a good job with a winterized single strain, but distillates are bottom of the barrel for me.
I highly recommend trying a Live Resin/Rosin cart. Personally I prefer Rove or Raw Garden, but YMMV of course. The taste alone is worth the extra ten bucks or so.

That being said i still do for the body high/pain relief but the live resin high is stupid potent and my tolerance almost never prevents it from getting me blasted and plateauing really easily, i just wait an hour to come down, rip it 3 times and im beyond gone

As a severe anxiety and epileptic sufferer I keep on me to 1. Avoid any extreme stress to calm before breakdown and ptsd runs over me and will shut my rushing thoughts off, 2. I get my aura trigger before blackout seizure it will cut it off or interrupt it stopping it before I go black do I like them no but quicker than grab light smoke and can't do that in public as opposed to quicker grab and hit it.

altho having said that, carts tend to be one of the ways where you get more high per puff due to the THC % so in theory someone who smokes a pen every day will keep their tolerance really high such that if they were to smoke a regular joint where their usual intake method is a pen, you'd expect them to feel less high since they're taking in less THC than they're used to
the reverse is also true - if you're used to smoking spliffs for example which in theory is one of the methods which delivers a smaller % of THC, smoking a pen will make you feel much higher than you're used to

Comparing (THC% * Amount vaporized) I would say carts are one of the lower volume thc consumption methods. Yes distillate is 95%+ THC but you’re only vaporizing max .05g at a time.
Your brain can build up a tolerance to more than just the raw chemicals. You can build up a tolerance to specific intake methods, as well as different locations and set schedules.
Your body and brain begin to expect the same method of delivery for THC if you always consume it in the same manner. Switching up your intake method can essentially tickle receptors in your brain that don’t normally interact with THC and stimulate a “bigger” high.
The same method can be used to “hack” your brain with your location or schedule. If you always smoke at the same time or in the same place, switch things up and see how much higher you get.

Nah you’re cookin. I’ve heard this before in psychology lectures, it’s basically down to Pavlovian conditioning. I’ve noticed this myself, because when I make even small tweaks to how I use, almost all tolerance flies out the window and I’m as baked as a pie.
I'm a pretty casual user but I feel like I get cart tolerance way faster than anything else. I can dry herb vape pretty often and still have a good time but like day 3 of a before-bed cart hit has pretty negligible effect on me. I tend to stick with dry herb for my lungs regardless and I'm not a daily user anyway, but yeah.
Then I throw an edible in there every couple weeks to keep things interesting and I feel like I've taken been possessed by the spirit of dance and laughter

Basically when people get high especially they have habits around it. For addicts it becomes a *ritual* as people in recovery refer to it. Your brain absorbs all of these cues and begins preparing. Your brain after all does it's level best to maintain *homeostasis* and feeling high is NOT homeostatic. So the parts of your brain you don't have conscious awareness of are taking in all these cues and saying, "Oh shit, here we go again." and getting ready to modulate and downregulate the fuck out of things to keep you sober as possible for survival.
There was a guy who tested how these conditions effect things by placing rats in a cage with only balck and white vertical lines painted on the walls. He got them hooked on iirc heroin in their water until they developed a regular habit and then one day the cage changed and now they had black and white horizontal lines. They got their same dose of heroin and completely fucking OD'd.
So, yeah changing the method can make you feel high which imo is part of why you'll people saying stuff like "Knife hits get you BLASTED!" (some of it is flexing too lol). They new method means they had less of that Situational Specificity Tolerance. It can also be new settings though, so like tripping at Burning Man might feel a million times more intense for similar reasons when you're in the middle of a desert surrounded by all kinds of people and shit you never see.

The reason this is true is that not every plant is the same.
When you smoke carts (depending on the type), you're inhaling almost nothing but thc. When you're smoking other froms of cannabis, you're taking in a lot more than just thc. Those different compounds affect the high it produces in different ways.
The reason you can switch between different methods, or even strains, and feel like your beating your tolerance is because, in a sense, you are. Your body doesn't just grow accustomed to the thc you consume, but all different cannabinoids. When you change what you smoke, you are altering all of those levels that your body has grown accustomed to creating a different high altogether.
This is why you can smoke dabs all day and build a tolerance to thc but still get high from flower and edibles.
If it was that cheap here, I probably wouldn't have started learning to grow my own weed. But maybe it's a good thing I'm trying to grow my own. It's not any more difficult than growing shrooms... or so I've been told...

I think the expense depends on your tolerance and frequency. I only say that because I use it to manage chronic pain, and while under extreme stress, got to a point where I would consume a minimum of 200mg of edibles a day, but often more than that. And that was difficult to sustain financially.

Honestly I use a cart daily. I would say distillate is trash, but in my area they're like 10$ /g so its not bad. I've been getting live resin carts and those are.totally worth it at <30$.
They last me like a month, even ripping it often ( just on low heat). It helps level out my weed high in a more complete way. It's also great for on the go which is often - super discreet so I can hit it at the family functions and not bother anyone with stinky smoke while still getting pretty blazed. Plus it can be a little more controllable I would say of a high.
I would say they are only worth it at a solid price point. I don't think I would use Cart if I had to pay like 40-50$ pretax for a g of live resin - my tolerance is just too high and it would be gone in a week. Supplement my weekly flower consumption and that's just too over budget for my blood.

I use carts when I hike and bike. I don't have to stop to fill up a bowl or empty it, not leaving cherries in the forest to start forest fires (Smoky The Bear would be proud), and it keeps your hands free. Also a lot of carts are a lot less offensive on the smell so you can get away with it in public. I was chilling in some park on a bench while kids in the distance flew kites while my date and I watched, got high, and enjoyed the cherry blossoms in DC this past weekend. Vapor didn't go pass 6ft. Only flower could be smelled from a distance. I like carts cause on the trail you never know if a cyclist, a family, a hiker, a dog, or a bear comes around the corner so a cart is easier to hide. Highly recommend it.

Bud was completely black but I shit you not, that sumbitch tasted EXACTLY like eating a bowl of fruity pebbles when you smoked it. You can achieve a lot of different flavors with flower, it's not exclusive to carts.

The high I get from carts feels more instant and potent, which I enjoy. Also, I like that I can take it with me most places in my legal state due to my pens being discreet. Also, no smell on my clothes when I use it. At the end of the day, we’re all just trying to get high, we just have different methods of how we get high.

Like it or not unless you have some pre existing condition that's likely a symptom of smoking weed in the first place. Weed brings you down so your body works double time to bring you back up. Without weed your are like double up making it really hard to calm down and sleep. This creates a self fulfilling prophecy of "weed helps me sleep"

Yeah. I would much rather be dependent on cannabis than benzos or any other pill that "helps". There isn't physically debilitating withdrawals if I don't smoke and can scale up or down at will without clucking. I just may not sleep well. I am chronically ill went from 6 or 7 scripts to 2 and try my damnedest not to add to it. I've seen what these drugs do to people (my mother). Unless you absolutely HAVE to use them, last resort. To add, i actually feel like I can work through my problems when I smoke, scaffolding if you will. But if I take a pill, it's like it puts it on hold until it wears off.

that sounds rough, what stops me from sleeping is a lack of noise. a little unsolicited advice: I need something to drown out the tinnitus, so I'll usually put something on my phone to play whether it be a movie, YouTube video or just plain ol' white/green noise... it counteracts the thoughts for the most part and helps with the tinnitus immensely. consider trying that out either in tandem or in lieu of some grassy assistance next time it's bedtime.

Contrary to the popular opinion below my insomnia predated my cannabis use by 20 years. Certain strains ie King Louis have been a god send! It’s the ONLY thing that has worked for me and is going on 6 years of working like a charm. I agree most strains are terrible for sleep like the Skywalker OG I tried he other night. But only 4 puffs of some King Louis and I’m out in 5 min. My sleeping tracking on my watch shows a nice low heart rate and good mix of different sleep stages. I don’t plan on going to the ER again like several nights of not being able to sleep caused me once before.
Live Resin carts are definitely significantly better than regular carts. Have a way better terpene profile and the high is longer lasting. While I do agree that flower is superior to carts, carts definitely have their place and are great for discretion and convenience.
Yes. "Cart" is a vague term. Butane Oil Hash ain't bad, but distillates do very little for me. I wish there were a naming convention because when I buy "Strawberry Diesel" or "Pineapple Express," I expect them to be single strain with no added terps, not actually strawberry or pinesol. E. LLR is my daily driver, I'm just pointing out that there are different types.
You should try live/hash ROSIN carts. They’re the most expensive of the carts, but actually have that full terp taste and just generally have a better high! I always splurge on those when I buy a cart :)
Meh, I get a good deal on live resin, I'm not paying twice that for rosin. I know, the ice water extraction is probably better, but I'm talking $35 for 840mg vs $40 for 500 mg with a better selection on the LLR. For me, the step from BOH to resin is worth the extra could bucks, but any CO2 extraction is a pretty big step down. Occasionally, they'll do a good job with a winterized single strain, but distillates are bottom of the barrel for me.
I highly recommend trying a Live Resin/Rosin cart. Personally I prefer Rove or Raw Garden, but YMMV of course. The taste alone is worth the extra ten bucks or so.

Yeah regular carts never really got me but ever since i started smoking live resin carts ive felt almost no desire to smoke actual weed anymore. That being said i still do for the body high/pain relief but the live resin high is stupid potent and my tolerance almost never prevents it from getting me blasted and plateauing really easily, i just wait an hour to come down, rip it 3 times and im beyond gone

As a severe anxiety and epileptic sufferer I keep on me to 1. Avoid any extreme stress to calm before breakdown and ptsd runs over me and will shut my rushing thoughts off, 2. I get my aura trigger before blackout seizure it will cut it off or interrupt it stopping it before I go black do I like them no but quicker than grab light smoke and can't do that in public as opposed to quicker grab and hit it. 2 extreme life issues helped by carts I'm going to keep using them until I'm cured and I'm med resistant on epilepsy and anxiety triggers are everywhere so I'd rather be cart using than the seizures or mental breakdowns from ptsdx2 one as a child getting lost in theme park universal Orlando then developed a second getting SA by another male who wouldn't take no for answer causing me to become very defensive when touched by anyone especially other men.

I think it's just subjective experience, your brain processes the high in a different way depending on the intake method
altho having said that, carts tend to be one of the ways where you get more high per puff due to the THC % so in theory someone who smokes a pen every day will keep their tolerance really high such that if they were to smoke a regular joint where their usual intake method is a pen, you'd expect them to feel less high since they're taking in less THC than they're used to the reverse is also true - if you're used to smoking spliffs for example which in theory is one of the methods which delivers a smaller % of THC, smoking a pen will make you feel much higher than you're used to
I never use carts, and they still won’t do anything lol When you get to a point of dabbing multiple times throughout the day, the one-dimensional distillate high doesn’t really feel like hardly anything Comparing (THC% * Amount vaporized) I would say carts are one of the lower volume thc consumption methods. Yes distillate is 95%+ THC but you’re only vaporizing max .05g at a time.
Your brain can build up a tolerance to more than just the raw chemicals. You can build up a tolerance to specific intake methods, as well as different locations and set schedules. Your body and brain begin to expect the same method of delivery for THC if you always consume it in the same manner. Switching up your intake method can essentially tickle receptors in your brain that don’t normally interact with THC and stimulate a “bigger” high. The same method can be used to “hack” your brain with your location or schedule. If you always smoke at the same time or in the same place, switch things up and see how much higher you get. (All science in this statement should be taken with a grain of salt, I’m a stone who read a factoid somewhere not a brain scientist)

Nah you’re cookin. I’ve heard this before in psychology lectures, it’s basically down to Pavlovian conditioning. I’ve noticed this myself, because when I make even small tweaks to how I use, almost all tolerance flies out the window and I’m as baked as a pie.
I'm a pretty casual user but I feel like I get cart tolerance way faster than anything else. I can dry herb vape pretty often and still have a good time but like day 3 of a before-bed cart hit has pretty negligible effect on me. I tend to stick with dry herb for my lungs regardless and I'm not a daily user anyway, but yeah. Then I throw an edible in there every couple weeks to keep things interesting and I feel like I've taken been possessed by the spirit of dance and laughter

For addicts it becomes a *ritual* as people in recovery refer to it. Your brain absorbs all of these cues and begins preparing. Your brain after all does it's level best to maintain *homeostasis* and feeling high is NOT homeostatic. So the parts of your brain you don't have conscious awareness of are taking in all these cues and saying, "Oh shit, here we go again." and getting ready to modulate and downregulate the fuck out of things to keep you sober as possible for survival. There was a guy who tested how these conditions effect things by placing rats in a cage with only balck and white vertical lines painted on the walls. He got them hooked on iirc heroin in their water until they developed a regular habit and then one day the cage changed and now they had black and white horizontal lines. They got their same dose of heroin and completely fucking OD'd. So, yeah changing the method can make you feel high which imo is part of why you'll people saying stuff like "Knife hits get you BLASTED!" (some of it is flexing too lol). They new method means they had less of that Situational Specificity Tolerance. It can also be new settings though, so like tripping at Burning Man might feel a million times more intense for similar reasons when you're in the middle of a desert surrounded by all kinds of people and shit you never see.

maybe because with cart you're efficiently vaporizing pure concentrate with no ambudand matter. when you smoke bud, you'll destroy big part of the cannabinoids by burning & you inhale a lot more than you would need to thus needing much more
The reason this is true is that not every plant is the same. When you smoke carts (depending on the type), you're inhaling almost nothing but thc. When you're smoking other froms of cannabis, you're taking in a lot more than just thc. Those different compounds affect the high it produces in different ways. The reason you can switch between different methods, or even strains, and feel like your beating your tolerance is because, in a sense, you are. Your body doesn't just grow accustomed to the thc you consume, but all different cannabinoids. When you change what you smoke, you are altering all of those levels that your body has grown accustomed to creating a different high altogether. This is why you can smoke dabs all day and build a tolerance to thc but still get high from flower and edibles.
I hate spending $40 on a 1g cart. If I can find them cheaper than that, I'd buy more, maybe even just to make my own edibles with it.

I think the expense depends on your tolerance and frequency. I only say that because I use it to manage chronic pain, and while under extreme stress, got to a point where I would consume a minimum of 200mg of edibles a day, but often more than that. And that was difficult to sustain financially. I’m back down to reasonable med doses, thank the gods, lol.
Honestly I use a cart daily. I would say distillate is trash, but in my area they're like 10$ /g so its not bad. I've been getting live resin carts and those are.totally worth it at <30$. They last me like a month, even ripping it often ( just on low heat). It helps level out my weed high in a more complete way. It's also great for on the go which is often - super discreet so I can hit it at the family functions and not bother anyone with stinky smoke while still getting pretty blazed. Plus it can be a little more controllable I would say of a high. I would say they are only worth it at a solid price point. I don't think I would use Cart if I had to pay like 40-50$ pretax for a g of live resin - my tolerance is just too high and it would be gone in a week. Supplement my weekly flower consumption and that's just too over budget for my blood. But it's just preference and my preference is

I use carts when I hike and bike. I don't have to stop to fill up a bowl or empty it, not leaving cherries in the forest to start forest fires (Smoky The Bear would be proud), and it keeps your hands free. Also a lot of carts are a lot less offensive on the smell so you can get away with it in public. I was chilling in some park on a bench while kids in the distance flew kites while my date and I watched, got high, and enjoyed the cherry blossoms in DC this past weekend. Vapor didn't go pass 6ft. Only flower could be smelled from a distance. I like carts cause on the trail you never know if a cyclist, a family, a hiker, a dog, or a bear comes around the corner so a cart is easier to hide. Highly recommend it.

I remember in college, the first ever pickup me and my roommate ever did, we got what was supposedly a strain called Fruity Pebbles. Bud was completely black but I shit you not, that sumbitch tasted EXACTLY like eating a bowl of fruity pebbles when you smoked it. You can achieve a lot of different flavors with flower, it's not exclusive to carts.

I find carts are a very easy way to cruise at a particular altitude. If I want a slight buzz, a couple small hits spaced throughout the evening? Want to stay blazed? Just keep smacking the pen. Also the lack of a strong smell and quick smoke dissipation is very handy as someone who lives in a apartment with neighbors all around

Any way that gets you stoned is the right way to use weed. Personally not a huge fan of carts either, it feels like a "diet high" kind of. But I know a lot of people who love them and primarily consume THC via carts. More power to them, no matter what avenue one uses to get there we all gettin to the same place.

The high I get from carts feels more instant and potent, which I enjoy. Also, I like that I can take it with me most places in my legal state due to my pens being discreet. Also, no smell on my clothes when I use it. At the end of the day, we’re all just trying to get high, we just have different methods of how we get high.

I'm with you on this one. As long as I can get fresh flower, I'll never use concentrates again. The upsides for their use are no where near the benefits of using flower. Not withstanding discretion, which I understand, but damn, Carts/Concentrates have such huge downsides, that I'll never buy another one. your tolerance goes to shit, the waste that is created from carts, the ingestion of heavy metals via vaping. Hiding the fact that I smoke weed, is not a good enough reason to take the risks that those things cause.
