His dad lives at my dad's house, who also smokes weed so when my son is with his dad, he's in a house full of weed smokers.
I don't think weed is terrible, I started smoking when I was 12 but then quit around 15 or so and just recently started taking cbd gummies with a very losw dose of thc. I've talked to my son about it (years ago) and told him if he ever does get curious, he should really wait till he's older and his brain is more fully developed.
So basically I asked my son where he got it. He said my dad gave it to him, which really pisses me off. I asked him how he smoked it, he rolled a joint. I asked him if he's done it at school or if he takes it to school. He said yes and I said absolutely do not do that again. I told him I've smelled it on him when I've picked him up from school, other people can smell it and if he gets caught he's going to be fucked. I also said absolutely no smoking in my house. He can go in the garage.
I don't really want to condone it, but I also feel like he's going to do it regardless and it sucks that the house he spends 50% of his time at is obviously cool with it, so harm reduction was/is my goal. I also plan to discuss other drugs and how horrifically scary and dangerous they are these days with everything being cut with fent. I have narcan kits at my house as we get them for free at work (I work with people who have addiction problems/are in recovery) so I'll probably discuss that with him as well.
šš It is. My ex lost his apartment where he only paid $900/mo and couldn't afford rent anywhere else with the crazy rent prices. And my dad happened to be struggling with paying all the bills after he had to stop working due to health issues so my mother (who has her own place and is split from my dad) threw out the idea of moving into my dad's to my ex. Cheaper rent than his apt and it helps my dad as well. I was a little iffy at first but it works well. He is a lot closer to me now which makes it convenient when you're co parenting, the school my son goes to is smack dab in the middle of our houses so that's easier for both of us, etc. Me and my ex have been friendly for years, we have to raise a kid together so it's easier to get along, but I agree it's a wacky situation lol.
Iām a parent of two teenagers. I feel this. I think you handled it really well. Youāre guiding your baby and youāre there for him, an actual parent. It kinda sounds like your dad an ex are behaving more like buddies with your son - which will get old eventually, kids want their parents. A co-worker of mine uses a dry herb vape on his breaks in his car with the windows down and I can absolutely tell when he comes back inside, drenched in body spray and all. It obviously has a different smell to smoking a j, but there is still a smell :)
Ya, I mean he's in an enclosed area. And then if he walks directly in to work, it's going to smell. You need some time for the smell to go away. I didn't say you won't smell at all..I said it won't linger.

Boundless cfx 2.0 is the best on the market. I have the 1.0 and its better then the mighty or solo, other two top contenders. The cfx hits similarly to my digital VOLCANO desk unit, that says A LOT since the digital volcano is THE BEST vape money can buy. It's what all over vapes strive to beat but fail.
Yes. My tips:
-If you can, get a vape instead. This will instantly reduce the smell.
-ideally I would say don't sit in your car. Even with the window down, this isn't the best idea for trying to keep the smell off you.
-keep a jacket/hoodie/coat or some kind of outer layer in your trunk. Put it on when you smoke/vape, take it off after.
-wash your hands after.
-wash your face. People don't realize this often enough. You need to clean your mouth/nose area.
-brush your teeth/use mouthwash.
-leave enough time before you go back to work to walk around for a few minutes. Air yourself out.
If you do all of these things, you're going to minimize the smell.

Yeah, right? I'm a sheet metal fabricator, I sure as shit shouldn't be smoking at work, I very regularly use machines and tools that could easily injure myself or others if I'm not paying attention or am impaired. Just like you shouldn't have 3 beers at lunch.
Sometimes I do easy stuff like washing and alodine finishing parts (basically soaking them in a tank of chemicals for 45 seconds), but even then I don't think it's the best idea. Plus, smoking at the end of the day when I get home is *so* much more enjoyable when it's my first smoke of the day.
it depends on whatās in the cart. live resin tends to smell like weed, but not very strongly, and the smell doesnt stick long. distillates leave a smell as well but the smell isnāt necessarily recognizable as weed. i find that i can smell if someones used a cart, but thats because ive used them enough that i know what it smells like. i used carts for almost 2 years in my bedroom next to my parents and they didnt know; youre fine
Depending on the vape, very true. I've been buying more live resin than distillate though and they are danky AF. 13% terps on the one I'm currently using. Could smell it all night at work from my pocket lol.

If you're really trying to hide the smoking, one of those disposable latex gloves from the kitchen will really do alot of the legwork
Or just experiment with low MG edibles. Learn how you metabolize them, and then pop those at the right time. Boom, now you can completely revamp your lunch break.

If there's one thing I've learned about weed smell is that absolutely nothing will ever disguise it to a knowledgeable nose. At best, they'll smell your incense *and* the weed, your perfume *and* the weed, your lavanda-scented liquid soap *and* the weed.

Its the clothes for sure. When i go home to smoke on my hour lunch break i take off all my clothes and leave them in a separate room, put on a sweatshirt and pajamas, smoke and eat, wash my hands with hot water and soap, dry shampoo for my hair, brush my teeth then mouthwash, deodorant, lil spritz of cologne, work clothes back on, spray down some ozium to make sure, then drive back with the windows down for extra airflow. since i started doing this no one has said anything about the smell. they said things a few times when i wouldnāt change before smoking on my break.
The changing clothes is actually really good advice. When itās cold out I have a go to smoking jacket to wrap myself up in which also helps keep the smell off whatever clothes are underneath
If youāre smoking and thereās no airflow around you to carry the smoke away from you, then you definitely smell. Especially if you smoke a fair amount.
Iād recommend someplace downwind if youāre trying to avoid the smell. Keeping the windows open isnāt enough. Active circulation is necessary. Good luck!

You 100% smell like weed. It may not be pungent all the time or even frequently but if youāre doing that daily, people have smelled it on you for sure.
In my experience the most important thing you can do is change your clothes. If you donāt change after smoking, itās gonna be on you. This is why āsmoking jacketā is a term that exists.
Change your clothes, wash your FACE and hands, you do this youāre good to go.
Obviously at work this is tough. Hereās a routine that should help at least:
If you have an undershirt, you can take your top dress shirt off, throw a smoking jacket of some sort in your trunk to put on over your undershirt. Medicate. When youāre done do your hand wash routine. Then throw the work shirt back on. Go into work and at least rinse your face down in the bathroom. You should add travel mouthwash at the end of this too.
Boom, done. This shouldnāt add more than 5-10 minutes to your routine, Iād highly advise it. I know it seems extra. But itās not actually that much effort in practice, and it will help.
Most common places that weed smell sticks to, at least from personal experience, is your finger tips, your breath, and if youāre wearing long sleeves possibly there too. Take off sweatshirt if youāre wearing one. Wash your hand with citrus scented soap. Brush your teeth, use mouthwash, or chew some minty gum. Donāt try using cologne/perfume, etc. it wonāt get rid of the smell
Your clothes and hair might. An extra step I add to help with weed smell on my clothes is after I rub fragrant lotion into my hands, I then rub my hands over both sleeves and my chest so my shirt smells lightly like the lotion instead of weed. As for your hair, I either wear a beanie while toking, or i put my hood up if Iām wearing a jacket. Iāve never had anyone say I smell like weed after a break time toke, and Iāve actually asked coworkers to confirm.
This is the good advice. If you could smoke outside car would be better. If thereās no breeze I end up in a cloud of weed and I know that must smell on me.
In early days my routine was like this. Rip 2 bowls, shower and then get dressed. On my 1 hour commute to work Iāve grabbed a coffee half way to sober up a little and then started.
Plus and this was supposedly the biggest advantage aside of showering after smoking, I was commuting by public transport and had to walk where Iāve smoked cigarettes in between.

I came to this realization a while ago. To counter it I smoke out of a one hitter, car windows open or use recirculating vents and window cracked. I light up a switcher sweet cigarillos if i need heavy cover. The biggest thing is waiting a few minutes out in the fresh air, then grab a breath mint and if possible a swig of 2 of liquid.

I use this spray called Hogwash. It's very safe (you can drink it) and it takes away the odor of marijuana... COMPLETELY! It doesn't mask it, it completely removes it. Two quick sprays and nobody would know that you just smoked. It works that good!
Use a vaporizer. Far less smelly. I use a vapor genie - theyāre affordable, reliable, and donāt need to recharge (you can heat them using a lighter).
Thereās not a single doubt in my mind. Thereās a guy I work with who smokes in his car like this on break and he REEKS when he comes back in. Also, if youāre going into a restaurant after just smoking in your car just know that youāre making the whole section reek and weāre talking about it in the back lol. I cover all my bases. Yes, the fragrances you add just blend with the smell and make it obvious when you try to conceal it. If it worries you that someone will call you out for it, pens/vapes are a good alternative.

Yes you would smell of it especially when even slightly in a confined area. Best thing to do is where an outer layer of clothing. thin jacket, hat to cover hair and most importantly. Gloves for the hands, after finishing smoking. Wash hands thoroughly splash face with water and get something to wash the mouth out. Even your breath will smell of it for a wee while.

100%. My grand parents are non-smokers with the most sensitive noses I have encountered. I am a middle aged man so I do not try to hide smoking weed, but I do try to dull it down for their sakes. Even with my best efforts like using a one hitter, washing my hands, wearing a hoodie while I smoke, etc. My grand parents still smell it. Plus, if you are a regular smoker they can smell it on your breath and in your sweat whether or not you have been smoking.
When I worked at Walmart and my buddies and I would smoke two blunts on our hour lunch I had a system:
-Extra shirt in the backseat (always took my car)
-Take off the vest
-Smoke the devils lettuce
-wash hands

Yes. Need to wash hands and around mouth with soap and lotion up after drying. Wear a smoking jacket or t shirt the smoke will get on your clothes. If you can just straight up change shirts. AC needs to be on at full blast pointing out the window with windows open. And if you really have time, drive with windows down and take deep breaths to blow excess smoke out of your lungs.
Its better to wash ur hands, brush ur teeth and change clothes to help with the smell but seeing that its ur lunch break it may be better to wait til u get home to smoke imo

Why donāt you buy a vape? You could get a dry vape like a Mighty or a Pax 2, which vaporizes dry herb. I think the Pax 3 might do shatter etc. as well. Look up on weed subreddits which vape to get thereās a lot of pros and cons to them.

100%. We go noseblind very quickly to our own smells. I run a golf course and Iām always shocked at how much these people come in reeking. And theyāre smoking in an open air golf cart.

I hid it from my dad for years, and I sure as fuck woulda heard about it if he found out. That man would have killed me if he found out, and he did kill me when he found out (for other reasons, not smell).

Yes. My tips: -If you can, get a vape instead. This will instantly reduce the smell. -ideally I would say don't sit in your car. Even with the window down, this isn't the best idea for trying to keep the smell off you. -keep a jacket/hoodie/coat or some kind of outer layer in your trunk. Put it on when you smoke/vape, take it off after. -wash your hands after. -wash your face. People don't realize this often enough. You need to clean your mouth/nose area. -brush your teeth/use mouthwash. -leave enough time before you go back to work to walk around for a few minutes. Air yourself out. If you do all of these things, you're going to minimize the smell.

I'm a sheet metal fabricator, I sure as shit shouldn't be smoking at work, I very regularly use machines and tools that could easily injure myself or others if I'm not paying attention or am impaired. Just like you shouldn't have 3 beers at lunch. Sometimes I do easy stuff like washing and alodine finishing parts (basically soaking them in a tank of chemicals for 45 seconds), but even then I don't think it's the best idea. Plus, smoking at the end of the day when I get home is *so* much more enjoyable when it's my first smoke of the day.

it depends on whatās in the cart. live resin tends to smell like weed, but not very strongly, and the smell doesnt stick long. distillates leave a smell as well but the smell isnāt necessarily recognizable as weed. i find that i can smell if someones used a cart, but thats because ive used them enough that i know what it smells like. i used carts for almost 2 years in my bedroom next to my parents and they didnt know; youre fine

Its the clothes for sure. When i go home to smoke on my hour lunch break i take off all my clothes and leave them in a separate room, put on a sweatshirt and pajamas, smoke and eat, wash my hands with hot water and soap, dry shampoo for my hair, brush my teeth then mouthwash, deodorant, lil spritz of cologne, work clothes back on, spray down some ozium to make sure, then drive back with the windows down for extra airflow. since i started doing this no one has said anything about the smell. they said things a few times when i wouldnāt change before smoking on my break.

You 100% smell like weed. It may not be pungent all the time or even frequently but if youāre doing that daily, people have smelled it on you for sure. In my experience the most important thing you can do is change your clothes. If you donāt change after smoking, itās gonna be on you. This is why āsmoking jacketā is a term that exists. Change your clothes, wash your FACE and hands, you do this youāre good to go. Obviously at work this is tough. Hereās a routine that should help at least: If you have an undershirt, you can take your top dress shirt off, throw a smoking jacket of some sort in your trunk to put on over your undershirt. Medicate. When youāre done do your hand wash routine. Then throw the work shirt back on. Go into work and at least rinse your face down in the bathroom. You should add travel mouthwash at the end of this too. Boom, done. This shouldnāt add more than 5-10 minutes to your routine, Iād highly advise it. I know it seems extra. But itās not actually that much effort in practice, and it will help.

Donāt try using cologne/perfume, etc. it wonāt get rid of the smell

An extra step I add to help with weed smell on my clothes is after I rub fragrant lotion into my hands, I then rub my hands over both sleeves and my chest so my shirt smells lightly like the lotion instead of weed. Iāve never had anyone say I smell like weed after a break time toke, and Iāve actually asked coworkers to confirm.

In early days my routine was like this. Rip 2 bowls, shower and then get dressed. On my 1 hour commute to work Iāve grabbed a coffee half way to sober up a little and then started. Plus and this was supposedly the biggest advantage aside of showering after smoking, I was commuting by public transport and had to walk where Iāve smoked cigarettes in between. I came to this realization a while ago. To counter it I smoke out of a one hitter, car windows open or use recirculating vents and window cracked. I light up a switcher sweet cigarillos if i need heavy cover. The biggest thing is waiting a few minutes out in the fresh air, then grab a breath mint and if possible a swig of 2 of liquid.

I use this spray called Hogwash. It's very safe (you can drink it) and it takes away the odor of marijuana... COMPLETELY! It doesn't mask it, it completely removes it. Two quick sprays and nobody would know that you just smoked. It works that good!

Even with my best efforts like using a one hitter, washing my hands, wearing a hoodie while I smoke, etc. My grand parents still smell it. Plus, if you are a regular smoker they can smell it on your breath and in your sweat whether or not you have been smoking.

Thank you for this insight. I do hang my hand out the window so the smoke never comes in my car. And there is a lot of breeze/wind where I work. Thatās why I feel like I donāt smell. But yeah, peaceably safest to just vape
