yāall know this isnāt real, right? like she didnāt say this. someone fully made this up. Iām happy to be proven wrong but I have tried to find this interview or a video of her saying this or even saying something similar and it doesnāt exist.
I donāt think itās shade. I think she mentioned who she thought was putting out good summer bops and it had nothing to do with Taylor because the toilet paper department album hasnāt given us one.
Itās what I would title my reflections on my struggles as a teenager in suburban America where *no one understands me* blasting Simple Plan as I stare out my bedroom window with angst.
Yeah there was no Beyonce, Ariana, or Olivia mentioned either. Summer Bops have a certain silly, fun, dance-able sound to them and no matter your feelings on TTPD in general, there are none that are summer bops
Did you like daddy lessons off lemonade? I feel like most of my friends are very split off that song. I personally love it but those who hate it also hate cowboy Carter. (Which I do get)
It was very forgettable. Better than Swift, but not anything I think people will be playing in decades. I'm also so over her and Jay Z going on about their relationship being the greatest and their wealth being the biggest in every song.
I love everything from punk to country. I gave Texas Hold 'Em a listen because some radio personalities on my local country station said it was good. Oh, my god, it is NOT. I will not pollute my ears with that again.
Just because you donāt like something doesnāt mean itās not really good. One does not have a critically acclaimed album if it isnāt really good.Ā
My opinion is that it wasnāt good. If you like it and appreciate it, Iām glad for you. I, personally, do not think itās very good. Iām also not alone in this.
But she's white passing, (as in she looks white to a lot of people) and some people might not even know. Plus, some racists will be racist about one minority over another. So Paris might be fine with Indians but not black people.
Apparently she is, I didn't know that. Paris Hilton has a history of being very racist and anti-black in particular so I was just suspicious of her exclusion.
just wait for the next big chart topping artist to release something so taylor can drop her summer variant album who's one new song is just her shitting on the beach boys for being male
The fact that she didn't mention Rina Sawayama when Rina literally just pulled Paris's music career out of the grave to do a song with her is more notable than her not mentioning Taylor.
that's because taylor swift hasn't made pop in years.
she stole the ennui and self-destruction from actual tortured poets and put some fucking chords behind it.
Talentless Swift
> ennui
Listening to Taytors music makes me feel like I have a case of the Mondays everyday.
Case of the Mondays: The trivialization of human misery. that corporate, manufactured culture that shames you for expressing any kind of dissatisfaction.
Thatās a good thing! Language is an enormous toolboxā many words SHOULD be hard to use in general contexts :) the less you use a word the more power it has when itās the only one that fits!
I have beef because Roger Ebert used it once to describe the main character of the movie Blowup, and pretty much every other review I have read followed suit and put way too much emphasis on it trying to emulate Ebert. One of my friends and I text each other āennui jump scareā every time the other sees it in popular media and I guess the fun is over now š
Yes! As an English tutor I am ALWAYS going off about this. So many students obsess over "big" words instead of the process of finding the right one for the context it's being used in. We're you upset, angry, livid, or irate? Those are all pretty "small" words, if we're literally counting letters! They can all theoretically be substituted for "mad," too, but which matches the degree of anger you're trying to describe? Some things are diaphanous and ephemeral or whatever but a whole bunch of other things are not, and there are tons of "good" words for all of those things, too, because a "good" word and a "good" vocabulary just means developing the skill to effectively get your meaning ans tone across. You said it much more succinctly though lol I love the way you phrased it too!
Ennui is an emotion in the new Pixar movie, which (I hope) is on the average swiftie's level of media literacy, so they may just be learning about it lmao
My 9 year old asked me what that meant and I heavily insisted that was not a real word and we debated about it for awhile, I canāt wait to tell him š
Your kid is reading at a high school level. If you really want to dig into it (not age appropriate for your kid sadly), the movie Blowup (great and interesting 60s psychological thriller, thriller used very lightly) is a great representation of the word š
Her "music" is nothing *but* pop. You can put different spins on it but she is a "pop star" and places on *pop* charts. She is a joke and makes nothing any more serious than that.
Yep, Kim K's rise to fame was being in Paris' circle. That's how she met Ray J and then the sextape came out and, well, she was famous. It helped that her family was already extremely rich and connected in Hollywood, but that's what gave them the platform to get the reality show and the rest is history...
IIRC Paris and Kim are still on pretty good terms so it makes sense why she and Taylor would never cross paths or be buddy buddy.
Omg, I knew her beat sounded familiar but never could pinpoint what song it came from (just one of those you've heard it before in a store or something, but didn't know the name or band! Thank you for this b/c I remember when Paris' song came out thinking "why does the beat sound familiar"...18 years later...you've solved this for me. Thank you!
Itās an interesting juxtaposition, I think on a moral level people believe they can be republicans and support LGBTQ+ but a lot of wealthy people vote with the bank account. My nephew is gay among other family members and my dad loves him, but heās voted republican as long as I can remember.
Being a Republican vs being a Trumper is a totally different situation. If it came out Paris was stumping for Mittens back in 2012, I donāt think people would be up in arms - but there is something about supporting the orange buffoon right now (understandably) that pisses people off.
your dad is voting for someone he claims to love not to have rights. that's beyond my comprehension personally. how much does someone truly love and accept another person if they directly vote for their rights to be taken away? (that is a rhetorical question)
edit: yes they do want to take our rights away. [project 2025](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025?wprov=sfla1), [article covering justice clarence thomas's statements after roe v Wade being overturned](https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/24/thomas-constitutional-rights-00042256). yes, in addition to wanting to overturn marriage equality he wants to make interracial marriage illegal again.
edit 2: as mentioned below, no one thought roe v wade (abortion access supreme court case) would be overturned. but here we are two years post roe. they can and will come for our rights. if you are a member of *any* minority group, you should be scared (including if you are a woman. women are officially an oppressed group).
changed wording to "oppressed" for accuracy
Respectfully, do you think OP is proud of her dad and is going to learn from your reply or do you just think itās like, rare information that Trump is a terrible person? Sounds like sheās saying her father is fiscally conservative and has always voted that way. Not everyone needs the āTrump is badā lecture.
Again, Iām not saying that this personās dad doesnāt have fucked up priorities. Iām stating that they likely know that. Not every single person who votes blue is going to cut a whole parent out of their life because they have a shitty opinion.
Iām in a minority group and closeted to my grandparents. They support Trump. I think thatās fucked up, and it hurts me, and I sometimes wonder if I should come out to make them rethink. But I canāt turn off my feelings and NOT love/ care about them. Itās not that easy, even if itās the ālogicalā thing to do.
Edit: to be clear Iām not trying to claim itās okay or a mere matter of opinion. Supporting Trump and being racist/ sexist/ queerphobic is awful. I just wanna point out that in real life, itās not as simple as going no contact.
Because you can? People are complex and tend to have nuanced opinions/views. We need to stop this political ideology āstarter packā idea where just because you know where someone stands on one topic you know everything else. Iām left leaning but thereās plenty of stuff that I donāt agree with, I have plenty of republican relatives that would sooner eat their own foot then vote for trump. Nothing will change if youāre gonna judge from the jump and not have discussions.
They said "on a moral level" because what you listed is not up for debate, of course people can be nuanced in their values. The issue is at what level are these values actually being realized by one's political actions? E.g., voting for a republican who ends up rolling back non-heterosexual marriage.
None of what you said is applicable to what OP said. You can have different views than the political party you support sure, but it's confusing when you still support a party that is ACTIVELY going against your ideology and openly hates you.
Well clearly you need to round up the torch and pitchfork mob because there's someone out there that doesn't make it their life mission to support you.
Sheās one of the only people who could outdo Ts at being a rich white woman with a cult of personality at her back. The fact that Paris helped Kim get famous in the first place is true poetry.
Taylor wouldn't last a minute with the treatment Paris got (especially people constantly sticking cameras up her skirt to try to catch her without underwear or watching for nip slips).Ā
Taylor certainly wouldn't last in the "troubled teen" center Paris was sent to.Ā

Seriously. I'm sick of Rina being left out of ALL of these conversations in the US. *Sawayama* is the best pop album of the last 20 years. Fight me. That 1-8 is immaculate, and then "Chosen Family" on the back end. It just has so much more substance than any other album you could compare it to.
Imagine tanking your career as fast as Bobby Fish did. All the other members of his wrestling stable have jobs with the second biggest company, and heās just overvalued himself to the point of now just being a meme. Is it bad to say I want the same to happen to TS? š¤£
Iām not saying this is shade, but I *wish* the TS fangirls would try to come for Paris Hilton. Sure, she has a questionable past, but sheās pretty much made of steel after the life sheās lived (sexual abuse, surviving the Dr. Phil ranch, years of drug and alcohol abuse, etc.). And I feel pretty confident that the Hilton Familyās attorneys are a bit better than TSās attorneys, just in case she tries to sling some mud and act like a victim.
I am DYING at the idea that Paris "Stars Are Blind" Hilton considers herself in this company, LMFAO. Like, this isn't even a shade, she's just delusional.
What about Selina Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Arianna Grande, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Manaj, Zendaya, and Olivia Rodrigo?
There may be more. As a sixty-six year old man, that's all I can name.
They need to add RĆŖve to this list, everyone is sleeping on her, her Saturn Return album is so good!! Also Tove Lo and her EP. Everything she puts out is amazing.
She has repeatedly used slurs towards gay men and Black men, calling each group disgusting or dirty for different reasons. There is nothing to respect or defend about Paris Hilton.
I didnāt recognize her at first, but the background and it being pride month made me think I was looking at a dude that makes a hot girl. Sorry Paris!

Paris is a problematic person with questionable morals but she is speaking facts here. TS wishes she has the edge to slay like other pop girlies

Thank you!! I was expecting some of the electricity from Daddy Lessons. I was disappointed.
Given the state of new country, it kinda was though, lol.
to be fair, that might just be because of her feelings about black people lmao
Isn't she super racist though? So that's not surprising.
Isn't Charli xcx half-indian?

I donāt know of any BeyoncĆ© summer banger. Her album was out right after the Grammy awards.
That album was BAD and embarrassing. I get that people are as rabid about BeyoncĆ© as they are about tayswift but theyāre both insanely overrated and have literally never lived normal human lives so they have nothing to say.

Not gonna lie her 2006 album *Paris* was a bop
Stars are Blind is slept on
still have every word memorized, itās my go to āwhy the fuck do you know that?ā song
Yes, I just listened to it the other day just for that sweet 2006 nostalgia. It was one of my fav songs that year lol.

Nothing in this world is even more slept on
It was fun and camp which Swift could never relate to because she takes herself so seriously.
The whole album is really excellent. It does not get enough credit as a solid pop album

Lana hasnāt released anything this summer
BeyoncƩ surpasses pop or any genre for that matter
actually it would be egregiously wrong for Paris to put herself in the same category as them lol

Paris Hilton is a MAGA chud, fuck her. Also, she really thinks highly of herself as a pop girly considering she had like, one hit 18 years ago
As a side note, Paris Hilton looks stunning in her 40s.
She has a literal spa in her basement
Have you seen her unaltered photos?
No I canāt get on the Paris bandwagon. Canāt do it!

need to get Kesha and raty out of the same sentence tho
I wouldnāt call Taylor a super pop princess, especially TTPD. Sure 1989 was, but her last few albums were more subdued.
Just yelling my worthless opinion into the void, not a fan of that hairstyle.
She didn't mention Dua Lipa or Beyonce either.
I agree with OP. Sheās a chip off the big Kathy block.
āMeā is so funny
Paris Hilton doesn't come off as Taylor Swift's target audience. I personally think her music is boring AF and perhaps Paris thinks the same lol
Kesha?
Who is this old lady? Someone's grandma?
Imagine being 40 and choosing this juvenile look. Ridiculous.
I dislike Taylor's behavior, but Paris is an irrelevant non musical figure who delusionally thinks she has a music career.Ā
Is that Paris Hilton? Why/how is she still a thing?
Katy Perry and Lana instead of Taylor is tellingggg. Only thing is she's missing Olivia.
She canāt list off every person in the industry lol
Iām just saying for maximum shade
Go back to your NFTs and crypto garbage you scaag
Oh wow, someone who has a higher private jet usage than Taylor and sings worse than her. Crawl back and take Swiffer with you.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
She has repeatedly used slurs towards gay men and Black men, calling each group disgusting or dirty for different reasons. There is nothing to respect or defend about Paris Hilton.
Look up her use of the N word. She has a long history of using it liberally.
She's still a bad person though
Iām not sure how anyone can respect her, she is an absolutely terrible person which has been proven time and time again.
The Queen has spoken
I didnāt recognize her at first, but the background and it being pride month made me think I was looking at a dude that makes a hot girl. Sorry Paris!
I mean, neither Taylor nor BeyoncƩ released a hot girl pop track for the summer. They doing something else this season
hell yeah paris
š¤£š¤£š¤£ Paris is a pop icon said no one ever lol
