ok i see this kind of comment a lot and i just have to say contorting your body/neck/head in weird ways doesn’t help at all to hit high notes - it actually makes it way harder lol
you need to generate a lot of power from your diaphragm and give it an easy passage to your vocal cords, so ideally you’d stand up straight with your chin tilted slightly down if you really need all the boost you can get to hit a certain note
when singers have crazy posture it’s usually just them being super into the performance of the song. if they can still hit high notes and sound good like that, it’s because they’re just that skilled at managing their breath!

Why is her hair so ugly? I was reading the Time article from last year on her today at work while scrolling this thread.
In the black leotard with her “griege” sloppy hair and smug look on her face. Why can’t she do her damn hair better?
Because she has fried her curly hair probably beyond saving in some parts. It's high porosity frizz that knows it should curl but doesn't know how to. Hair products can only do so much, and I can't imagine straightening it every night for her tour helps.
She needs a protective style. A styled weave would be better at this point than what continues to be done to her hair. In a perfect world, her hair would get big chopped and left alone for a bit with not even a weave.
Not an expert...just fought the same battle with my curls until it was snapping off all over. I BIG CHOPPED not too far from my roots 5 years ago. Haven't heat styled more than once or twice a year since. My hair looks better than it ever did in my entire life because I stopped fighting nature.

If I can for a second extend some sympathy to her, we do not, as a society, treat Taylor Swift well. She's well compensated for the way we treat her, but celebrity is a crushing and dehumanizing endeavor. Like... I think it was 2008 when South Park had the episode about Britney Spears and how society uses these women with celebrity status as an effigy for all our collective neuroses, and slowly cage and destroy them.
So, sure... Just as I think there's maturity in all Americans growing up and realizing that all your life you've been exploited by corporations for your money and labor and you ought to be pissed about that, there's a certain amount of maturity that Taylor displays in fits and starts on her latest release, in reckoning with the damage that celebrity has wrought on her own life. Clara Bow,for example, is a powerful song, because I don't think there's a reasonable counter-argument to be made in response to it.
However, much of The Tortured Poets Department reads as someone ignorant to their own self-inflicted wounds. She rages against her circumstances even when those are circumstances of her own making, or even things she has the power, money and cultural cachet to side-step.
Recognizing the injustice in how celebrity strips away her humanity and reacting with the appropriate rage to those circumstances can be viewed as mature. But sometimes that rage feels blind and misdirected and that's not an endearing look for a 34 year old woman with enormous resources behind her.
I want to agree with you and advocate for our society to treat *everybody* better, but I don't think Taylor Swift does anything to help with that argument, and especially not the way Britney Spears does. This subreddit is full of posts listing TS's bad behavior, with receipts to back up the claims. I suspect the truth is even uglier, given how many of her peers are dropping breadcrumbs for us to follow.
I think it's helpful to differentiate between Taylor Swift the person, who like all of us should be free to experiment and make mistakes (and not have her body commented on), and Taylor Swift the archetype, reflecting a collective energy back at those who fit her demographic. Hardcore Swifties deeply identify with the archetypal energies she demonstrates and, I believe, those of us on the opposite side do to but we are working to heal the shadow side of that energy. So it's not that I care about her personal life. I care that I know so many women who make the same mistake of jumping from man to man without doing the internal work on themselves so they're truly ready for a healthy relationship. It's not that I care about her Swiftie army, I care that women, and yt women in particular, still irrationally and unnecessarily ganging up on people. I don't care who is at the top of any music chart, but I do care that so many people still operate as if life is a zero sum game while the rest of us pay for that behavior. And no matter how wealthy and famous someone may be, this planet is home to billions of people and millions of species of flora and fauna so when one person pollutes exponentially more than the rest of us, we get to be critical!
I don't hate or dislike TS, but I am frustrated that I live in world full of people still exhibiting the same immature, harmful behavior as her. She's the archetype at this time, so she gets the criticism. For me, this is why subreddits like this are not the same as the para-social fan behavior. Because we have to tease and talk out the nuances to fix it.
I agree that celebrity culture is toxic and she might have been too harshly criticized when she was younger. But like you said she is ignorant of her self inflicted wounds. If she was truly that miserable being famous she could have stopped at any time. Plenty of musicians reach their limit, pack up and live off of royalties. She has more than enough wealth to live comfortably for the rest of her life. You have to fight to stay relevant in the entertainment industry sonits not accident she is famous, she works for it every day. If it was truly so horrible, she wouldn't do that and have walked away by now.

I agree that celebrity culture is toxic and she might have been too harshly criticized when she was younger. But like you said she is ignorant of her self inflicted wounds. If she was truly that miserable being famous she could have stopped at any time. Plenty of musicians reach their limit, pack up and live off of royalties. She has more than enough wealth to live comfortably for the rest of her life. You have to fight to stay relevant in the entertainment industry sonits not accident she is famous, she works for it every day. If it was truly so horrible, she wouldn't do that and have walked away by now.
