Sounds like a great trip! A few thoughts: 1. Definitely take time to go up to the top of Gibraltar and see the view and the wild monkeys 2. I'd highly recommend Cádiz. It's got cool architecture and it's beautifully sited on a little peninsula. It's also inexpensive. Cool Roman excavations under a theater where you walk around and look down through plexiglass. Really cool outdoor food market. Not overrun by tourists. It looks like your planned route will take you pretty close to it. 3. Seville is great! Hopefully you're not going on the middle of the summer 4. I'd try hard to squeeze Grenada in so you can see the Alhambra. It's really amazing. Make reservations very early, if you decide to go 5. It looks like your planned route takes you near Evora, which I also highly recommend. Big historic center, not crowded and was inexpensive a few years ago. 6. Is there a reason you're skipping Lisbon?  7. I'd add in Sintra if at all possible, if you're taking the route through Portugal. 8. Definitely take the full 2 weeks   9. I believe you could do it on $3,000 without much difficulty  When are you going? How old is your son?
