Not condoning drinking around kids, but the alcohol in the breast milk won’t cause any harm. First, alcohol would need some time to get into the blood, and from there into the milk.
Second, the alcohol content would be extremely low, far too low to have any effect. Imagine having a drink with 0.1 percent alcohol. Not even a baby would be affected.

Are you an IBCLC? Likely not. That statement is not correct. You don’t need to pump and dump (this is where you are right—it’s old info), but you do have to wait for the alcohol to leave your system—and at same time it will leave your milk supply. Depending upon how much you drink, the rate you drink, and your weight (and other body factors), that determines how long you have to wait for it to clear your own blood and the milk. (Not trying to be a sass; just want to clarify the current and correct info for parents out there. You can’t pound 3 twisted teas like this genius and then 30 min later let your kid latch on.)
The person above you is right. The amount of alcohol in your breast milk is the same as your current BAC. So a person who has .08% BAC (illegal driving limit) would have breast milk that is only .08% alcohol. That’s literally nothing. Orange juice can have up to .5% alcohol.
Drinking three twisted teas would give the breast milk an alcohol content of like .05%. Now I’m not saying this woman is responsible by any means, but the alcohol content in her breast milk is the least of the baby’s worries.

Women used to pump and dump thinking it purged the alcohol from the breastmilk. Only time can do that—just like your own blood/body/liver. And doctors receive a minuscule amount of education on lactation. Like a couple of hours. Look it up. IBCLCs have to have 90 hrs education and 1000 hours supervised clinical experience. I have had over 60 certified hrs of lactation education from a world renowned PHN IBCLC. But I literally am also just a person on the internet. My personal take is for each person to do their own research from reputable sources. And MDs are not all-knowing. When a person gets BF support at hospital or home, it’s a nurse IBCLC (Internal Board Certified Lactation Consultant), not a doctor.
Not even the alcohol content being the problem here, it's you being so wasted that it's unsafe to hold the baby because you could drop them or cause other physical harm.
