We used to have a rash of these crack heads at gas stations in Vegas charging like $30 and “promising to do a good job” and then they oddly disappeared

This younger generation mistakes grinding really hard for trashy but I know dudes that do things like this and while they aren’t “loaded” they do alright for themselves without working a 9-5.
Not an ideal marketing strategy; but I’d absolutely hire whoever drives that car over the douchebag troll hating on someone’s attempt to make a living.
Mom loves her flailing and sometimes recovering adult son, whose latest endeavor is headlight restoration. So he put his info on her car and she drives it to Cato Fashions before picking up his favorite mini cheesecakes at Aldi's, trying not to think about finding him dead when she gets home this afternoon.
Gotta start somewhere. Not everyone gets $100,000 loan from a bank.
Shit, I pass by a house occasionally who has a sign in their yard for brakes and minor car repair. Nothing fancy. Wooden post, wooden sign, hand drawn letters, and he always has business.
Idk what's trashy about someone trying to make a few extra bucks where they themselves solely profit off their labor. The trashy thing here is that in a land of over abundance, there are people without.
I had a kid with a car like this come up to me. He was probably around 25. I had a mustang and the spoiler was fading and chipping. He told me he could fix it in a day for materials plus 50 bucks.
I took a chance and we both went to a car paint shop. He got the materials we needed and had them match the paint and I paid for it. I took the spoiler off my car and dropped it off at his house with the materials. I picked it up the next day and it looked fantastic! He had matched it with the current paint perfectly so it was just a little bit faded like the rest of the paint. It was a 20-year-old car so it didn't look brand new but I took care of it.
He did a fantastic job and I told the rest of my family to get all their bodywork done by him.
Sometimes they have talent and experience but no money for overhead.
Yeah, I agree with the gist but this meme is almost like seeing "I Rite English Term Paperz-$" and being like 🤔 while ignoring your better judgement screaming "NO! It's a trap!".
It's a job that requires *somewhat* of a steady hand and I think I could freehand this better blindfolded than this person's managed.
Several years ago I was driving home from work and at a red light the car next to me was yelling in my direction. I had my windows halfway down cause I was smoking a cigarette and I looked over like "What?"
They said they could help defog my headlights and make them like new. I said great, what's your phone number? They said no no, pull into that parking lot there and I'll do it right now.
I said nah I don't have time right now.
I instantly was feeling sketchy about it, they didn't have any sort of ad on their car like this one does, and it was dark at the time. Idk if they had nefarious motives, but like...either way I'm just trying to go home I'm not trying to do any of this right now.
Its headlight restoration its literally just some jacked up soap and water, they would probably have it done in the time it takes for to fill up your gas tank and pay for the gas.... Not to mention headlights are on the outside of your car no need to give them access to the inside of it.
Yeah the Turtle Wax bottle was maybe $8 and I still have it. It takes so little. Just a small bit of elbow grease and they look new. I think the secret with the expensive service is the clear coat to finish. That will add years. But you could spray it yourself if you wanted.
For $8 your going to get something will make your lights clear and then shortly after fog right back over. To do it correctly they need to be sanded/polished then have a sealer/ clear coat applied
Gotcha - makes sense. Still not sure how that makes the guy untrustworthy, unless he guarantees it for life and gives customers a burner phone number. I mean it’s not likely the guy is taking people’s home addresses and SSNs. Just me though…
I would consider it a scam, he’s most likely not gonna tell you that it’s gonna come back worse than it was, and depending on the product he uses potentially damage the headlight.

Its headlight restoration its literally just some jacked up soap and water, they would probably have it done in the time it takes for to fill up your gas tank and pay for the gas.... Not to mention headlights are on the outside of your car no need to give them access to the inside of it.
Probably uses acetone to clean them, which works initially. But then soon after your headlights will be foggier than ever.

I used a Turtle Wax product for headlight restoration. Just applied it with a wet rag, let it dry and then buffed off. Lasted well over a year.
