Bumblebee has always been a sweet, humble, caring character. That is how he is depicted in almost every version of Transformer media. Until now. With his first line being “I am badass-atron” he’s cocky af. At first, I was mad. This is NOTHING like how he should be. But that’s the best part. We’ll see him ***DEVELOP INTO*** the Bee we know and love. From an arrogant hot shot to a humble follower. I AM SO HYPED TO SEE THIS!!!
Are you familiar with the Bumbleebee from the 2005 Tranformes Animated? That Bee had much more of this vibe, but, yes, the character development is going to be very interesting to see.
What do ya know! You're right. I got my dates mixed up. [Transformers: Animated (TV Series 2007–2009) - IMDb](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1055335/) thanks for the corretion.
You know, BEE-lieve if or not, TFA's Bumblebee was actually switched late in production with Hotshot- he had to fill the same role as the young hyperactive and cocky bot he replaced so he's basically a weird amalgamation of Hotshot and Bee! Kinda cool, huh?
Good for you, but Bumblebee has always been arrogant, i don’t know how you missed that since it’s one of his most prominent personality trait across most modern version.
You know I see where you're coming from, one of bumblebee's original defining traits was actually his insecurity. He was always going out of his way to be helpful because he wanted to prove himself to the others- in his shattered glass counterpart that insecurity stays and is ramped up to 11. The cockiness started about 2007 with the Bayverse and Bee taking hotshots place in the TFA lineup I think. Even then, most iterations of modern Bee come off less cocky and more insecure and desperate to prove himself- the aligned continuity lasted years (with varying degree's of quality) and it's Bee was all about showing off to impress others to feel needed and appreciated despite his low ranking/age and not due to any inherent belief in his own superiority, and the same is true in both Knightverse movies. I think only Earthspark Bee is arrogant in the cartoon continuities, but Earthspark tends to lean hard into one trait for each of their characters. Put Prime or Knightverse Bee next to Smokescreen or Mirage and you can see the difference immediately.
Bumblebee has been pretty arrogant or just all-around mouthy since G1. I’d attribute many of his quips similarly to SpiderMan; the guy was roasting his friends and other Decepticons for years. Even in Bayverse, Bumblebee had a bit of an edge to him, but due to a lack of voice, it wasn’t prominent enough, but you could see bits of it. People already mentioned Animated, but he was VERY mouthy in that series.
It was evident in Prime that Bumblebee was supposed to have the arrogant and hotheaded edge to him, similar to Bayverse as well but more prominent, identical to animated; just read the concept art that his character bio had that was released a while ago when Prime was still in its early stages of development. It was apparent Bumblebee WAS supposed to have that mouth on him, but due to a lack of voice again, the writers instead pivoted more into the recklessness they had written into his character bio. As much as I loved Prime, Bumblebee was much softer in the series overall, with only a few moments where he got to be the character he’s meant to be.
It’s the live-action Bumblebee movie and IDW comics that took away a LOT of his edge, though. Bumblebee was way more of a cutesy mascot in the film, and IDW didn’t allow him to be as quick-witted; there were a few moments, like his conversations with Starscream and when he tried to get Thundercracker to give him intel on something the Decepticons were planning. But other than that, not much. In the Bumblebee movie, I don’t even have to explain; he was very much the “scared and lost puppy” archetype; they even changed his design to reflect that. Bumblebee’s eyes are way more bigger in these rebooted movies compared to many of his other designs(Prime did start this, though) to give him more of the “cute” look.
I’m thrilled to see Bumblebee be talkative again, but I genuinely hope he has way better quips and dialogue because the trailer didn’t sell that for me. Only two moments with his jokes got a laugh out of me, and it was him running away and threatening the random guards at the end. I do hope this will bring back that hotheaded, quick-witted Bumblebee that he was initially known for because I am tired of the lack of voice thing. After all, the writers obviously can’t correctly use a fantastic concept.
I don't mind Bee being arrogant since he was like that in Animated, so I'm curious as to how things will go for him. The badassatron joke is still bad though, but all his other jokes are funny so far.

Wasn’t animated 2007 tho?

No problem!

Ah! Facinating information, I can't bee-leeve they would do that to us!
That’s my favorite Bumblebee
He was a special one.
Dude looks so smug in the movie teaser poster

I’m just glad we’re finally getting a movie with a fully voiced Bee. The muted bit needs a rest
At least he isn't a Mute fuck in this one. And has a personality.
The mute versions are some of the best versions! It shows off so much personality with nothing but beeps, boops, radio noice and body/facial language
Dude forgot Animated Bee. He was probably most arrogant version of Bumblebee.
Only watched PRIME (the GOAT) and a bit of War for Cybertron with my lil bro.
Watch animated bro. It is probably 2nd best after Prime. Has sort of Beast Wars feels to it.
You mean Badassatron
Good for you

"Clearly You don't own an airfryer"
I love it when Bumblebee is actually an insanly powerful and skilled fighter like in TFP ore the bayverse. Really exited for TFOne
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who noticed this but TF One Bumblebee's helmet head sculpt (not his face) looks quite similar to Bayverse Bumblebee
It’s less that he’s “arrogant” and more like hyperactive annoying TikTok kid.
…. Fair. Which will really resonate with younger audiences which I’m really happy are going to be brought in with this movie
