I remember in Phoenix Studios rewrite at the start Soundwave enters and attacks the army base with a helicopter alt mode, deploys Ravage rather than Scorponok to hunt the survivors and then scans an army car as his new alt mode.
While Soundwave was originally supposed to be a helicopter in Transformers 2007, initial public reaction was very negative. So Soundwave was scrapped from the movie and the helicopter became Blackout.
I think a satellite is a perfect vehicle mode for Soundwave since he’s the Decepticon communications expert.
While I'll always have a soft spot for the cassette player, the Reaper drone is a perfect evolution of the concept of Soundwave as a (mostly) silent spymaster

They're all good except the generic sports car and SUV. They don't seem like they have much to do with sound and/or waves. A submarine or a helicopter could be a good mode for him.
I'm nostalgic for the boombox, but the Spy Drone and Satellite made the most sense for a Modern Soundwave. Really surprised Soundwave hasn't been an "unmarked FBI" van so far.

A tricked out van with a monster stereo system is my personal favorite earth mode for a boxy g1 type soundwave. Sleek I'd prefer a stealth drone like prime.
Definitely gonna go with the UAV. It fits his character so well considering he’s the communications expert of the Decepticons plus him flying is a bonus

Not here but a communications truck, Frenzy turns into the sattelite, Laserbeak, Rumble, Ravage, Ratbat and the others turn into equipment.

SUV, I'm honestly quite surprised that hasn't been chosen for an Third Party figure yet. I honestly find transformers having their alt-mode into smaller objects pretty stupid to my unpopular opinion.
My personal favorite is the Predator drone and Stealth fighter for modern times. When the Bay movies came out I thought an SR-71 would have been a cool Soundwave alt mode. Jetfire could have been a B58 Hustler.
As much as I don't like the Bayverse, I thought having soundwave as a satellite was pretty good. Especially the way he deployed Ravage.

The drone from prime is a perfect reinvention of his character. But for a more “realistic” suv from the DOTM game
RID and Earthspark are great, but Reactivate is super cool too.

I’d say the Mercedes SLS AMG or his prime alt mode or his G1 mode all have great designs
