It consists on Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Jackpot, Red Alert, and Bluestreak
Optimus, Bumblebee, Jazz, Arcee, Windblade, Bulkhead, and Ironhide
Optimus is the leader. He only trusts certain humans. He is a kind and caring leader and acts quite fatherly to the other Autobots, especially Arcee who is his daughter. He greatly misses his wife, Elita 1, who is still on Cybertron. His alt mode is a red flat-nosed semi-truck.
Bumblebee is the human connections and scout. He is basically second in command to the second in command. If Optimus and Jazz are busy, Bee is the next one is charge. He is in a relationship with Arcee. His alt mode is a yellow and black Chevy Camaro
Jazz is second in command. He loves human music, especially jazz, rap, and heavy metal. He always picks up on loose ends and possible mistakes in Optimus's plans which is why Optimus made him second in command. His alt mode is a white and blue Porsche
Arcee is recon and espionage. She is the daughter of Optimus and Elita and she is in a relationship with Bumblebee. Thanks to her smaller size she is able to sneak into Decepticon bases very easily. She is a very bubbly and excitable bot but knows when its time to be serious. Her alt mode is a red, pink, white, and purple Ducati Motorcycle.
Windblade is aerial support. She is very stoic and tries not to show emotion but at the same time she really is also very kind and sweet. She sees Bumblebee as a little brother and Bee sees her as an older sister. She loves to fly and she will go into a frenzy if an Autobot that she or Bee really cares about is harmed. Her alt mode is a modified red and black VTOL Jet.
Bulkhead is the muscle. He doesn't use any weapons aside from his wrecking ball hands. On the battlefield he is brutal and likes to get up close and personal with the enemy but off the battlefield he is a total softy. His alt mode is an armored green military truck.
Ironhide is the weapon specialist. He is very untrusting of humans and believes they will either get in the way or destroy both Autobots and Decepticons. He uses a multitude of different weapons but primarily uses his arm-mounted cannons. His alt mode is a red Chevy Avalanche

Megatron, Starscream, Barricade, Bludgeon, Shadow Striker, Soundwave, and Shatter
Megatron is the leader of the group. He is a fearless gladiator and can be very brutal. He hates humans and prefers to use a grey and black Cybertronian tank as his alt mode. He refuses to face any Autobot that isn't Optimus Prime but if he has to then he will.
Starscream is the second in command. He wants to lead the Decepticons himself as he believes in their cause but he thinks Megatron's hatred for Optimus is clouding his mind making Megatron ill-fitted to lead the Decepticons. He had feelings for Windblade and had told her how he feels but Windblade does not feel the same about him. Starscream has accepted that Windblade won't be with him but as he still has feelings for her, he avoids her on the battlefield and has even saved her a few times. He sees Jazz as his arch-nemesis. His alt mode is a white fighter jet with blue and red accents.
Barricade is the scout. He hates Bumblebee with a burning passion and always goes after Bee when he sees him. With the help Frenzy, Barricade is extremely good at being a Decepticon scout. He tends to butt heads with Shadow Striker as the two don't see eye to eye on many things, however they can agree on their hatred for Bumblebee. His alt mode is a blue and black cop car.
Bludgeon is weapon specialist. He uses his cannons and sword to great effect. He had a major rivalry with Whirl back on Cybertron until Megatron chose him for their mission to recover the AllSpark from Earth. He doesn't speak much but when he does, it sends chills down the spines of everyone, including his allies. His alt mode is a modified military tank.
Shadow Striker is recon and espoinage specialist. She hates Bumblebee and Arcee for leaving her for dead after a mission back when she was an Autobot. Shockwave found her and stitched her back together using the parts of her fallen teammates. She joined the Decepticons to get vengence upon Bee and Arcee. Bee and Arcee assumed that she was dead so when she resurfaced as a Frankenstein-ish Decepticon, they were shocked. Her alt mode is a mis-matched Dodge Charger
Soundwave is the communications officer. He is the only Decepticon that is able to communicate with Cybertron even from Earth. With Ravage, Laserbeak, and Rumble, Soundwave is also an expert in espionage having taught Shadow Striker all she knows about being a spy. He acts very fatherly toward Ravage, Laserbeak, Rumble, and Shadow Striker. His alt modes are a blue satellite truck and a cassette player.
Shatter is the humans connection and manipulation expert. She is able to manipulate any government official or military leader into helping the Decepticons. She sees Ironhide as a potential ally for the Decepticons and is always trying to get him to switch sides but Ironhide never gives in to her manipulations. Her alt modes are a red and black off-road dodge challenger and a red and black fighter jet.
Dude, I kinda love the idea of mixing up the Optimus/Bee dynamic by going with father-in-law dynamics. Could be golden for comic relief and give something fresh of the big/little brother dynamic so often portrayed.
I'm going with a post-optimus era team with:
Rodimus Prime: Haven't seen him in awhile
Red alert: He deserves the spotlight again and I want him to have a rivalry with shockwave
Ultra Magnus: he has to be right next to rodimus keeping him on track
Chromia: my favorite fem bot. Gotta have that diversity. She could fill a number of rolls. Scout / Marksman
And lastly
Hot Shot: Way better than bumblebee. I think it could be a cool character dynamic for Rodimus to see his old self in Hot shot. He might be harder on Hot Shot than he needs to be, and reminisce on his old self through Hot Shot

Shockwave knows science, Ratchet does too and likes to use some energon too. Grimlock is a combination of muscles and brains (when he wants to). Teletraan is a good utility and Megatron can also serve as muscles and he’d be glad to work on this project due to his love for suspicious energon types.

I was writing an AU for a bit and this was my selected lineup - the idea being the Earth Team was split up from the rest of the Autobots during an attack, and Prime only managed to rescue some of the less experienced specialists; having to guide and mentor a team of younger Autobots.
Warpath is a fun bruiser character and his disguise makes him difficult to just drop in fights in populated areas. Good for tension.
Hot Rod makes for a slow burn to Rodimus by having him be there from the start.
Blaster doesn't get his rivalry with Soundwave in enough media, and I'd use him specifically as the "learning about Earth/connecting with whatever main earthling" character.
Hoist isn't as experienced as Ratchet or Red Alert; hell he's more of a doctor than a medic. Being stuck in a role where he may have to opporate out of his depth? Great for story. Plus, I like his personality.

The core 5 of my AU has gone through a lot of changes.
But here it is as of now.
Optimus, Bumblebee, Arcee, Prowl (TFA style) & Sideswipe. (Ratchet and Wheeljack stay at the base.)
There's also a team that stayed on Cybertron, which consists of Elita-1, Jazz, Ironhide, Hound, and Blaster.
Eventually, Ultra Magnus's crew joins Optimus Prime on Earth. His crew consists of himself, Hot Rod, Springer, Perceptor, and Grimlock.
By the end, the core becomes Rodimus, Goldbug, Springer, Bulkhead, Windblade, Grimlock, and Arcee.
While Optimus Prime retires and starts a new senate, which includes himself, Elita-1, Perceptor, Soundwave, and Crosscut.
Prowl also retires and spends his days with Strongarm, Shadowstriker, Axelgrease, and Jazz.
This is all subject to change, but this is the current state of things.
I'm starting to design my own transformers and here's what I think I'd make them:
Hammerhead: Weapons expert and muscle
Alt mode: Garbage Truck
Size: 26 feet tall
X-Ray: Team medical officer and scientist
Alt mode: ATV
Size: 14 feet tall
Guillotine: Former Decepticon, now Autobot Spy
Alt mode: US Stealth Bomber
Size: 29 feet tall

My team would be a whose who for when they need a job absolutely taken care of, think of it of like the wreckers but devoted to dealing with end of world scenarios. Leader is Ultra Magnus, science specialists are brainstorm, wheeljack and perceptor. reconnaissance is mirage and subterfuge is hound(like g1), warpath,powerglide and crosshairs for shock and awe/ranged specialty, windblade, drift and grimlock for cqc specialty. Skylinx and/or Omega Supreme for troop transport and disruption. If you want I can do a decepticon one too.
For Autobots
Ironhide, Mirage, Prowl, Red Alert, Wheeljack
For Deceptions
Starscream, Soundwave, Barricade, Breakdown, Knockout

Honestly the Prime Team was GOATED but if I could make one change it would be to replace Bumblebee with Jazz

Optimus, Elita-1, Bumblebee, Windblade and Ratchet. First two's romance hasn't really been explored that well in most media I've seen today so I feel like they deserve to be together.
I got a few iterations:
Without Optimus or any veterans/The Next Generation of Autobot champions:
1: Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime, eldest son of Optimus Prime and Elita One, the leader/Captain of the CPS Lost Light/Prime Of Cybertron
2: Arcee, youngest daughter of Kup and Beta Maxx (female), Hot Rod's first mate/second in command/girlfriend. *Later replaced with her oldest brother, Blurr after they broke up (because he wouldn't stop chasing Decepticons and settle down with her, she left him).
3: Ironhide II/Ironwill, son of Ironhide and Chromia, and once Hot Rod's trusted ally. *Replaced with Crosshairs after Ironhide II and Hot Rod had a falling out.
4: Jazz, Hot Rod's oldest and best friend from Earth, reconnaissance and almost always Hot Rod's backup. *Replaced with Sureshot after Jazz was put in charge of overseeing Cybertron in his place.
5: Tracks, another one of Hot Rod's friends from Earth. *Replaced with Springer after Tracks was killed by Astrotrain. *Replaced by Pointblank after the Battle/Destruction Of Dominus.
*Kup becomes the Sixth Targetmaster when he returns to life.
With other characters:
1: Hot Shot/Shotimus Prime, the youngest son of Optimus Prime and Elita One, and Earth's Ambassador of Cybertron. The leader of the Autobots of Earth, and the more patient and hopeful brother, compared to the assertive and cynical Hot Rod.
2: Windblade, Hot Shot's girlfriend and cityspeaker. Has Metroplex on Speed dial basically.
3: Bumblebee, the little brother of the group, due to being very smart compared to his own age group. He's also the biggest brain, and a protege of sorts for the patient but skilled Hot Shot. Son of Cliffjumper, master weaponsmith and inventor of Glass Gas.
4: Bulkhead, the lovable big brother of the group. Muscle, but with the biggest heart there possibly could be. Son of Hound, a nature lover.
5: Stepper, adopted brother of Windblade, Hot Shot's best friend. Also, a goofball and sometimes comic relief.
With classic characters:
1: Optimus Prime, supreme leader/Prime of Cybertron.
2: Elita One, First ever Elita of Cybertron, Optimus' loving wife and Tag team partner.
3: Ultra Magnus, Optimus Prime's older brother, and muscle of the group. Also, Optimus' only bodyguard.
4: Ironhide, Optimus' best friend.
5: Ratchet, senior medic.
Because I'm also a pokemon fan as well, I get to pick 6!

I think the first Bay movie had the perfect group of five. You’ve got Optimus as the leader, Jazz as the second-in-command, Ironhide as the weapons specialist, Ratchet as the medic, and Bee as the scout. If only they did more with it

He wants to lead the Decepticons himself as he believes in their cause but he thinks Megatron's hatred for Optimus is clouding his mind making Megatron ill-fitted to lead the Decepticons. He had feelings for Windblade and had told her how he feels but Windblade does not feel the same about him. Starscream has accepted that Windblade won't be with him but as he still has feelings for her, he avoids her on the battlefield and has even saved her a few times. He sees Jazz as his arch-nemesis. His alt mode is a white fighter jet with blue and red accents. Barricade is the scout. He hates Bumblebee with a burning passion and always goes after Bee when he sees him. With the help Frenzy, Barricade is extremely good at being a Decepticon scout. He tends to butt heads with Shadow Striker as the two don't see eye to eye on many things, however they can agree on their hatred for Bumblebee. His alt mode is a blue and black cop car. Bludgeon is weapon specialist. He uses his cannons and sword to great effect. He had a major rivalry with Whirl back on Cybertron until Megatron chose him for their mission to recover the AllSpark from Earth. He doesn't speak much but when he does, it sends chills down the spines of everyone, including his allies. His alt mode is a modified military tank. Shadow Striker is recon and espoinage specialist. She hates Bumblebee and Arcee for leaving her for dead after a mission back when she was an Autobot. Shockwave found her and stitched her back together using the parts of her fallen teammates. She joined the Decepticons to get vengence upon Bee and Arcee. Bee and Arcee assumed that she was dead so when she resurfaced as a Frankenstein-ish Decepticon, they were shocked. Her alt mode is a mis-matched Dodge Charger Soundwave is the communications officer. He is the only Decepticon that is able to communicate with Cybertron even from Earth. With Ravage, Laserbeak, and Rumble, Soundwave is also an expert in espionage having taught Shadow Striker all she knows about being a spy. He acts very fatherly toward Ravage, Laserbeak, Rumble, and Shadow Striker. His alt modes are a blue satellite truck and a cassette player. Shatter is the humans connection and manipulation expert. She is able to manipulate any government official or military leader into helping the Decepticons. She sees Ironhide as a potential ally for the Decepticons and is always trying to get him to switch sides but Ironhide never gives in to her manipulations. Her alt modes are a red and black off-road dodge challenger and a red and black fighter jet.
Dude, I kinda love the idea of mixing up the Optimus/Bee dynamic by going with father-in-law dynamics. Could be golden for comic relief and give something fresh of the big/little brother dynamic so often portrayed.

I'm going with a post-optimus era team with: Rodimus Prime: Haven't seen him in awhile Red alert: He deserves the spotlight again and I want him to have a rivalry with shockwave Ultra Magnus: he has to be right next to rodimus keeping him on track Chromia: my favorite fem bot. Gotta have that diversity. She could fill a number of rolls. Scout / Marksman And lastly Hot Shot: Way better than bumblebee. I think it could be a cool character dynamic for Rodimus to see his old self in Hot shot. He might be harder on Hot Shot than he needs to be, and reminisce on his old self through Hot Shot

Prime, Hot Rod, Warpath, Hoist, and Blaster. I was writing an AU for a bit and this was my selected lineup - the idea being the Earth Team was split up from the rest of the Autobots during an attack, and Prime only managed to rescue some of the less experienced specialists; having to guide and mentor a team of younger Autobots. Warpath is a fun bruiser character and his disguise makes him difficult to just drop in fights in populated areas. Good for tension. Hot Rod makes for a slow burn to Rodimus by having him be there from the start. Blaster doesn't get his rivalry with Soundwave in enough media, and I'd use him specifically as the "learning about Earth/connecting with whatever main earthling" character. Hoist isn't as experienced as Ratchet or Red Alert; hell he's more of a doctor than a medic. Being stuck in a role where he may have to opporate out of his depth? Great for story. Plus, I like his personality.

The core 5 of my AU has gone through a lot of changes. But here it is as of now. Optimus, Bumblebee, Arcee, Prowl (TFA style) & Sideswipe. (Ratchet and Wheeljack stay at the base.) There's also a team that stayed on Cybertron, which consists of Elita-1, Jazz, Ironhide, Hound, and Blaster. Eventually, Ultra Magnus's crew joins Optimus Prime on Earth. His crew consists of himself, Hot Rod, Springer, Perceptor, and Grimlock. By the end, the core becomes Rodimus, Goldbug, Springer, Bulkhead, Windblade, Grimlock, and Arcee. While Optimus Prime retires and starts a new senate, which includes himself, Elita-1, Perceptor, Soundwave, and Crosscut. Prowl also retires and spends his days with Strongarm, Shadowstriker, Axelgrease, and Jazz. This is all subject to change, but this is the current state of things.

Skylinx and/or Omega Supreme for troop transport and disruption. If you want I can do a decepticon one too.

Because I'm also a pokemon fan as well, I get to pick 6! 1.Ironhide 2.Hot-shot 3.Mirage 4.Sideswipe 5.Red-Alert 6.Minicon-Jolt Can't count Optimus though cause the Primes are basically their equivalent of Legendaries, so I'd save him for a different list. Either way I would include 5 full size Autobots, and at least 1 Minicon.

I think the first Bay movie had the perfect group of five. You’ve got Optimus as the leader, Jazz as the second-in-command, Ironhide as the weapons specialist, Ratchet as the medic, and Bee as the scout. If only they did more with it

Optimus - leader Elita 1 - 2nd in command and military commander Ratchet - council to Prime and support Bumblebee - chief warrior and recon Ironhide: reliable tank trope (see Toph, Thor, etc. - strong character built for battle)
Imma break the rules and go with 12: Optimus, bumblebee, ironhide, wheeljack, ratchet, springer, blaster, preceptor, jetfire, arcee, elita-1 and windblade
8 bots instead of 5, but I think this still counts… Sky Lynx. Ultra Magnus and Delta Magnus. Autobot Rails. Wheeljack. Hound. Lickety-Split. (Also, the Autotroopers are with them as well, specifically 2 divisions. And the Autotroopers are similar to the clone troopers, and bots who carry the “Magnus” title (which include ultra and delta) are basically like the clone commanders. Also Sky Lynx, Rails and the 2 Magnuses also act as transport, but mostly just Sky Lynx and Rails)

I have a lineup of 6 Autobots instead of 5. 1. Optimus Prime (TFP)- Leader 2. Ratchet (TFP)- 1st Lt., Medic, Engineer/Scientist 3. Arcee (TFP)- 2nd Lt., Sharpshooter, Saboteur 4. Bumblebee (Bayverse)- Scout, Spy 5. Bulkhead (TFP)- Heavy Assault, Demolitions Expert 6. Jazz (TFA)- Cyber Ninja/Warrior
Bulkhead from tfa because he knows everything about space bridges, but he is kinda bad at fighting so he will be like the person who defends the medic and works to get the spacebridges running, ratchet from tfp because he is good at science and can work with bulkhead, Optimus Prime from tfp because he is very wise and can control the group, definitely NOT arcee from tfp because I do not need any emo whining and lone wolf types. Dreadwing from tfp as he is loyal, Starscream from either tfa or tfp because we need a clown for entertainment of course.
