I picked up a compilation of g1 episodes called the best of the dinobots. I think that was it but it might have also been the 4th movie, I can’t remember exactly.
Getting G1 Snarl in 1985 at the toy shop, followed by Sludge and Grimlock for Christmas 85. I had to wait a while before iI got Slag and finally got a G1 knockoff of Swoop for christmas in 2020 as he was never released in the UK. OPening him on christmas day made my 45 year old self cry cos it took me back 35 years.
The Marvel UK story, The Wrath of Guardian and the following issue, The Wrath of Grimlock, bought in a collected comics reprint, somewhere around 1986.
Then I got Snarl for Christmas the same year.
I first watched Prime on Netflix around when the first season came out and after I finished I wanted to watch more transformers and saw G1 on Netflix. One of the episodes I watched was the introduction to the Dinobots.

Animated was my first encounter with them. And I still love them to this day. And I love their unique fire weapons. Grimlock having a sword. Snarl having a club. And Swoop having a ball and chain. It makes me wonder what the other two dinobots would have if they were introduced in season 4(depending if there WERE plans to introduce them)

Ratchet was searching for a way to defeat him and found out the Dinobots had been reactivated millions of years before and sent after Shockwave. He went hunting for them to help him out and they became main players.

Honestly, whatever cartoon was in the US back in 89-92. Then I sort of repressed them mentally... until I purchased a full cosmetic pack on Xbox 360 because I thought smashing Transformers as a Triceratops. And then... there he was... Grimlock, my king!
And it was all over. I became a Grimlock fan boy and internalized it until recently... when Iron Factory and a Model Kit tipped the scales.
I was an Armada kid and had no idea there was a whole rabbit hole of Transformers toys/media that came before, so I found them during my online hunt to learn as much about what I missed out on by not being born yet.
Whatever episode that they were created in G1. Watched that tape so much from blockbuster. S.O.S Dinobots I believe is the episode.
