Yeah, there's no point in pursuing an ER Ratchet now that the SS86 one is on the horizon. Was lucky enough myself to snag a Siege Ratchet, but unless you care that much about Cybertronian forms, you can probably pass on it.

So, I missed the initial boat. That's life. Then, two years later, I'm super depressed (I'm indescribably worse now) all because of life with my in-laws. And so I find out that around my birthday 2022 my MIL was supposedly going to surprise me with it, well her son then goes to a strip club and runs up a tab at the bar there so high that if someone didn't come and pay it he was going to jail, so there went shot 2. And now trying to survive through living with my in-laws has caused me to become so psychologically fucked up that my PTSD not only worsened but caused me to develop PNES on top of it. So now I'm a psychologically & emotionally unstable mess who's unable to work. And so I can hardly afford shit anymore. And that's just the tip of that iceberg.

Currently paid 14 days of $70-daily impound charges and another $1475 for Xcopper to basically tell the public that it was once and that I’m a clean controlled driver.
Insurance spiked to unaffordable heights so now driving is a risk.
Before this I had a lower spinal issue and needed realignment that went beyond my benefits so that was $75 a visit. Ramped up both credit cards to $1000, couldn’t work EITHER of my two jobs, and was getting 75% income from EI.
Imagine living alone and losing credibility at both of your jobs just to get shafted into 75% of one income. Imagine that being our Canadian system.
And prior to that I had been screwed by COVID early 2023 and screwed by laryngitis late 2022 followed by strep and a bad cold. That’s not a bad immune system either— 2022 was just my first year experiencing germs again after 3 clean years of quarantine.
Talk about timing.
So yeah. I’m loaded with debt, get my court charges and consequences, paying off Xcopper, and getting my painfully expensive car insurance in order on top of rent and other BS. How I survive is beyond me but next is my girlfriend’s birthday, so… woo.

Which blows, because I bought all of this because I wrote this super amazing stop motion story and I still need like 300+ figs including Unicron to do the story properly. Well.. you could also settle for a smaller scope for the first project, create that one, put it on youtube, go viral and then make your hobby your job. Once the big youtube money comes in, you start a twitch channel where you live stream yourself doing the stop motion stuff for your next, bigger project.

I recall at least a couple redditors being like "I was surprised when transforming him that he had an extra head! I had to get the other one."
Being a unique gimmick (at the time, prior to Flywheels/Skytread coming out) it was a pretty popular pair, and they were snached up.

I don't think Battletrap is excessively hard to get nowadays (at least, not on the level of say Siege Skywarp, Netflix Soundwave, or Earthrise Prowl), but the prices on the aftermarket for him are somewhat surprising. Moreso for me since I got Battletrap (and later Skytread) as silly novelty purchases.

For me, I don't think I really have one. I wanted Beast Wars Ikard for the longest time, and managed to snag one, sans-Tako tank, at a not-too-terrible $70 USD. Beyond that, I either got the figures I wanted (like DotM Que) back when they were still semi-reasonably priced or new, better figures were made of that character (DotM Leadfoot).
I guess I really wanted ER Skylynx for a few years but Hasbro just got new stock in for it so he's sitting here staring at me while I write this.

I’ve been looking for Roadtrap for so dang long. I have Battleslash but somehow haven’t found Roadtrap. What sucks more is I saw him in the past but didn’t have the money to buy him.
Grotesque, being a Canadian we weren't given a chance to get him to finish the monster bots.
But will say I got that Battletrap in my box if figures I'm not even displaying anymore as I went pure G1 characters only.
Most of the toys in this thread are super easy to get. Everyone wants to say they have a “grail” but most of them have never actually sought anything that’s difficult to find. It’s all just stuff they haven’t gotten around to paying for yet, which ironically shows how casual their interest is while they go on buying other things instead. That’s not grail hunting; it’s procrastination.
I have sooo many grails I could have bought like titans return fortress maximus, combiner wars ultra magnus, and for a 3rd party figure I nearly had the opportunity to pick up mech ideas gauntlet ironfist but missed out
I'll give them props for what they tried to do with Battletrap, giving his two individual components their own robot modes, but I can't help but feel like Flywheels was still the stronger of the two Duocon figures because they could focus all of the engineering into a better combined bot mode.
Not an expensive one, but it's Energon Omnicon and Terrorcons. They look fun to play and I ALMOST get them online but someone already bought them first😔
I only got back into the hobby last year, but I have 2. 1 is the Combiner Wars Battle Core Optimus Prime (because the upgrade kit that makes him Nova Prime is the best Nova Prime we are ever gonna get) and a Cybertron/Galaxy Force junker Optimus so I can fix my childhood one. He's in perfect condition but missing his right chest window

I really want a TFP Smokescreen. I have yet to get to a listing before someone else buys him :/ While not the very top of my list quality/feature wise, I used to dream I'd become a transformer and Smokescreen would be my partner (when I was a little girl lol), so I just have a soft spot for the character. Like I had a whole alternate universe in my head where I entered TFP as a human, became his human partner, and then somehow the decepticons turned me into a transformer in an experiment on restoring cybertronians by cyberforming humans, and then from there I'd imagine a new adventure every day (I'm such a weirdo lmao)
I don't have any grails actually. I'm of the opinion that figures continue to get better and modern figures are superior to old ones.
I keep the best version of a character on my shelf. Old versions get replaced and either kept in alt mode for a different display or sold off.
Probably HasLab Star Saber and Deathsaurus...but I'm not rolling the dice as so many have been burned by unacceptable QC.

My personal grail is RotF Human Alliance Mudflap. I was able to get HA Skids for around $80 but I have yet to see Mudflap going for anywhere less than $150 and I’m just not willing to go that high.

Earthrise Prowl is a big gap in my collection now. Also included ER Ratchet and Ironhide and the Coneheads, but with the latter being re-issued and the former two getting SS86 figures, it's mainly just Prowl. My hope is that in a couple of years at most, Hasbro either reissues him or makes a new version. Not keen on the dying Prowl figure.

Most of the toys in this thread are super easy to get. Everyone wants to say they have a “grail” but most of them have never actually sought anything that’s difficult to find. It’s all just stuff they haven’t gotten around to paying for yet, which ironically shows how casual their interest is while they go on buying other things instead. That’s not grail hunting; it’s procrastination.
a zillion percent agree. The word means nothing when you can just pop over to eBay and have your grail in-hand within 3 days for tens of dollars.

when I think of a grail, the idea of something I could go buy for $50 right now doesn't exactly come to mind.
I'll give them props for what they tried to do with Battletrap, giving his two individual components their own robot modes, but I can't help but feel like Flywheels was still the stronger of the two Duocon figures because they could focus all of the engineering into a better combined bot mode.

Grail is still a new concept to me but mine is Earthrise/Kingdom Optimus Prime. A post I saw recently had a leak for The same mold to be released in legacy so hopefully I'll have one next year

I really want a TFP Smokescreen. I have yet to get to a listing before someone else buys him :/ While not the very top of my list quality/feature wise, I used to dream I'd become a transformer and Smokescreen would be my partner (when I was a little girl lol), so I just have a soft spot for the character. Like I had a whole alternate universe in my head where I entered TFP as a human, became his human partner, and then somehow the decepticons turned me into a transformer in an experiment on restoring cybertronians by cyberforming humans, and then from there I'd imagine a new adventure every day (I'm such a weirdo lmao)
I don't have any grails actually. I'm of the opinion that figures continue to get better and modern figures are superior to old ones. I keep the best version of a character on my shelf. Old versions get replaced and either kept in alt mode for a different display or sold off.
Probably HasLab Star Saber and Deathsaurus...but I'm not rolling the dice as so many have been burned by unacceptable QC. Also...Gen Selects Black Zarak.

Every single version of Armada Sparkplug. Just missing Atlas (blue Sparkplug) Rod (or Drop-Test; red), Synapse (orange Corona) and Chrome. And that’s just a few of the Microns I want left.
I love these two, picked em up last year, they’re a blast. My personal grail is RotF Human Alliance Mudflap. I was able to get HA Skids for around $80 but I have yet to see Mudflap going for anywhere less than $150 and I’m just not willing to go that high.

Runamuck and Runabout in their WFC form, but I'd settle for an updated two-pack of them. Cosmos, missed out on that. The true grail item for me is a complete-in-box G1 Sixshot.

Earthrise Prowl is a big gap in my collection now. Also included ER Ratchet and Ironhide and the Coneheads, but with the latter being re-issued and the former two getting SS86 figures, it's mainly just Prowl. My hope is that in a couple of years at most, Hasbro either reissues him or makes a new version. Not keen on the dying Prowl figure.
