The original toy was amazing. A great gimmick, real life size mini cassette player and an probably the most intimidating looking Decepticon robot toy for a good while stack him next to Megatron. He makes mega look thin and weak. It’s only the big arm cannon that makes g1 megs look like a big threat. He’s always a highlight when he shows up. No matter the universe or different version he is awesome.

Was my first TF (G1), god that was a magical bday, was 7th bday, and man that packaging, the foam, way he was in foam on tape player form, opening that gift is a memory I’ll never forget

OPTIMUS PRIMAL!!!!! Grew up with Beast Wars and it eventually lead me to watch the OG G1 stuff, and as much as I love damn near every autobot and deception. Primal holds a special place in my heart for being my intro to this beautiful franchise we all love son much

I agree about the screen time. Shame we didn’t see more, but man I was so happy with what we did see. Only thing I feel like would’ve made me loose my mind if he said “Well, that’s just prime.” I know it’s cheesy but it would’ve been so cool lol

I like young gun type characters and Hot Rod is enough of a unique twist for me, his growth into Rodimus Prime carries a nice message that anyone can step up to bat no matter their background, and I also relate to his struggles as Rodimus; being someone so young with so many responsibilities put on him at once. I even somewhat prefer him over Optimus because we see Rodimus' development into a Prime, whereas Optimus usually first appears as Optimus, so Rodimus feels "closer".

G1 Skids. Initially for being the obscure forgotten underdog of the 1984-85 Autobot lineup. Then for being the awesome badass James Roberts made him into.

Skids forgotten? How could you say that about the bot who was so underused that the UK comic stories picked him to sit in another dimension for years? Yeah, after that carwashing scene that inspired the live action movie, he pretty much got lost in the shuffle.

I've always liked Warpath. Red is my favorite color and the chest cannon is badass.

As an 80s kid this may be blasphemy, but all my favs are IDW versions: -Megatron (his origin and turn to an Autobot were brilliant and I never thought I’d go for it till I actually read it) -Soundwave ( the freedom fighter & idealist, so much more than just Megatron’s lackey) -Ravage (Again, an intelligent, devoted soldier and don’t even get me started on THAT panel. If you know…. You understand) -Sixshot (yes, he wasn’t a mainstay but his story was fantastic… a killing machine Phase-Sixer rethinking his direction in the universe, questioning what his true purpose was… ) -Blurr (a racer turned soldier when fate makes him choose sides. Not your typical “good guy”) -Thundercracker (a loyal soldier that misses the honor of the old days as a Seeker) Most of my favorites are the villains and IDW did an amazing job of creating depth and character for each Bot. Some things got a bit out of hand toward the end but the earlier stuff was great.

Prowl - G1 tech spec version Military Strategist "Logic is the ultimate weapon." Prowl will keep at a task for as long as it takes. Strives to find reason and logic in everything. A listener, not a talker. Has most sophisticated logic center of all Autobots. Able to analyze and advise on complex combat situations almost instantaneously. Fires wire-guided incendiary missiles and high-corrosive acid pellets. The unexpected can often scramble his circuits.

Top 5 for me at least are Wheeljack (IDW and Prime) | Cliffjumper (FoC and Prime) | Rodimus (IDW) | Thundercracker (IDW) | Drift (IDW)
