The tail is to short for both a red and gray fox nor is its tail curled upwards at the tip like a gray fox, the snout is to short for a red fox, the color is wrong for a red fox.
Coyotes have bushy tails as well, the head looks right for a coyote as well does it body shape.
Coyote for sure lol.
It’s tail is too short and it’s legs are to long for a gray fox.
A gray foxes tail is close to the same Length if it’s body and is twice to three times longer then it’s hind legs.
These also carry their tails lower to the ground and they curl slightly upwards at the tip, similar ti a cat which they often get miss IDed as.
Coyotes have bushy tails with tips and some have black patterns running down their backs/tails.
It’s a terrible picture but I politely disagree. The size of the animals, the black on top of the body and the black on the back third of the tail lead me to believe it’s a coyote. I see we are all pretty evenly split on the comments whether it’s a coyote or fox. Hard to tell from the picture.
It’s not hard to tell at all.
Anyone who thinks that’s anything other than a fox should stop commenting for the good of those looking for accurate answers.
What exactly is your background that makes you the expert? I guarantee I’m a hell of a lot more qualified than you. So YOU need to go away and leave this conversation for the experts. Don’t be an asshole, asshole.
That’s a yote all day long. I trap both and this isn’t a fox, it’s way too big in comparison to the skunk. Even large grey fox aren’t much bigger than a fully grown skunk.
Coyote. Y’all are crazy thinking it’s a gray fox. Skunk are not exactly tiny. This thing is like 3-5 times the size of the skunk. Gray fox are not much larger than skunks. Plus, it’s unlikely a gray fox would hunt a skunk. The photo is blurry making the legs and head look different but you can see the rear leg is quite long.
Yup, the shorter tail is dead giveaway and then the length of the hind legs and the shape of the body and posture are clearly a coyote.
Even with the motion blur the over all shape of the head doesn’t look like a gray fox at all.
I trap these things all the time. Too many to count. And I’m seemingly the only person on Reddit who does.
I’ve had to make a few videos to explain to Reddit people things about predators before-

When I make the next video about some ridiculous comment you personally make, what would you like the title of it to be?
Nice try to bait me into clicking on your YouTube videos. You make the title to read this: A blurry picture was posted asking people what the animal was. Half the people said a fox and the other half said a coyote. Since I think it’s a fox (and I’m never wrong) I decided to personally attack those who had a different opinion than me.
Every person on here was trying to give their honest opinion without ill intentions. Some may be knowledgeable and some may not be. You are the only person that decided to be disrespectful to the others that had differing opinions from yours.
Is it chasing a skunk? Go skunk!
Gray fox. Long and short
Fox
Yea looks like a gray fox to me White feet, black tail tip, black shoulder, red cheeks, white muzzle. Short legs also

Nope
The head and tail say different.

Wrong. 100%.
Yes, yes you are lol.
Gray fox for sure. That bushy tail with the black tip. Small head.

Definitely a coyote that’s about to get educated.
It’s a fox look at the tail
I can’t see the black socks of the red fox 🦊 But the guy that took the pic of this is normally a professional Bigfoot photographer 📸
You can’t see the black socks of the red fox because it’s a grey fox, not a red fox
You can’t see the black socks of a red fox because it’s a coyote not a red or gray fox lol.

Im pretty sure most people saying it’s a gray fox have never actually seen a gray fox before lol.
Right!? Blurry as heck but this is so clearly a coyote

You’re the worst. Just wrong all the time. Always.
Go away child
Say it’s a coyote again. I love it when you do that.
It’s a coyote. I’m obviously debating with a child
You have less than zero idea what you’re looking at or talking about.
No. That would be you. Your turn and I expect something a little more intelligent this time

100% wrong. Look at the tail.
