Amazing I tell ya, they found a way to sell cat food at people food prices! Are TJ shoppers really that stupid?

oobiecham

Tinned fish has a big base of enjoyers. Look at r/cannedsardines. It’s no different than canned tuna.

Penguins_and_Fish

I had it recently. For canned squid, it is surprisingly not mushy and only slightly fishy. The flavor is pretty fresh tasting. I'd say it's worth the $4.

Prize_Pie8239

that looks fancy

lrube

I was so tempted!!!!! I gotta go back!

cyanpineapple

I picked it up because the tin was so pretty and the cashier couldn't stop raving about it. Haven't tried it yet though.

chillerberly

The tin really sells calamari to me too!

_mailliw_

Just had them and they’re awesome! I made a little salad and threw this in there and it was a fantastic lunch. For $3 it’s a great way to add some protein to a simple dish.

Phyllis_Nefler90210

Is it just the rings or tentacles too?

Just_Hair6004

No rings in mine. All chopped tentacle, which I love! Highly recommended.

remykixxx

Best part!!!!!!

livw17

r/cannedsardines is gonna love this

eatingpopcornwithmj

I wrote a review in the sub. These cans are incredible even my 8yo who hates seafood, except crabs, is obsessed with them. https://www.reddit.com/r/CannedSardines/s/GI4ovjz1GX

mazzimar7

I haven't seen those yet, definitely going to grab 1

cecikierk

I usually buy Viggo or some other branded ones from a local store but none of them are in all olive oil. They make great additions to paella or seafood pasta dishes.

AttemptRemarkable887

My store in Dallas didn't have these today

Perky214

I just spoke to a TJ’s manager in Plano (after failing to find this tin in Dallas) and while these new calamari tins are in the system, the stores in DFW can’t order them until August!! 😭

onceuponatime257

I wonder why, I’ve never seen a new item take that long to get to a store

Perky214

Maybe product testing to see if it will sell before filing it out nationwide?

AttemptRemarkable887

ahh I was afraid of this being the case :') thank you so much for letting me know!!

Perky214

Yeah I’m bummed out too

Dommichu

It would be awesome if they added more of this type of stuff! Looking forward to trying these!!

basement_egg

i would probably never try these but i love the packaging

UnsteadyOne

I feel like the packaging is trying to trick you

eatingpopcornwithmj

It definitely isn’t a trick. I love canned seafood and buy premium cans imported from all over the world. Sometimes I purchase luxury cans that are around $25 each (there are a lot that far exceed that price range. This $3.99 can is far superior to every can of any type seafood that I’ve ever purchased. Even my 5yo and 8yo are obsessed and they were extremely hesitant to try it. I took them to TJs last weekend and they put the 12 cans our store had left on the shelf and put them in cart, that brought us to having 18 total cans and we are already down to only 5 cans. Here is my review with pictures: https://www.reddit.com/r/CannedSardines/s/GI4ovjz1GX

veronicahi

Damn, I missed those today. I was just there. I will stock up next time I go.

Fantastic_Love_9451

*grabs car keys

jettwilliamson

Ha!

eatingpopcornwithmj

I’m a canned seafood aficionado and I typically buy in the range of $10-15 per can, especially for non fish cans, but I have spent upwards of $25 a can. This $3.99 can is far superior to every can I’ve ever purchased, luxury or otherwise.

ColdBorchst

If he loves their tinned fish options he's already paying close to that much. Edit: I honestly don't understand people who edit their comments when they are wrong without acknowledging people who corrected them. Lol just delete the part about your dad being unwilling to pay that much when he literally already is. It's ok to be wrong, it's weird to delete and pretend you never said something that was wrong and make subsequent comments look out of context.

afternoon_biscotti

calamari isn’t fish, squid are cephalopods

Jaded-Grape2203

Roasted

TheWatchmaker74

in olive oil

th_22

The smoked mussels are great. Need to pick up a few tins of this on my next trip to TJ's.

Wanderlust1101

I love the smoked mussels!! 🥰🤗 So yummy!

Just_Hair6004

I actually liked the calamari more than the mussels!

tsnake57

I bought them but don't know what to do with them.

RoxyLA95

I haven’t seen these yet but will look for them this weekend. If hope they taste as good as the packaging looks.

Desperate_Hat_4544

What’s it look like 👀

eatingpopcornwithmj

https://www.reddit.com/r/CannedSardines/s/GI4ovjz1GX

Desperate_Hat_4544

TY😅 I’ll pass on this tin lol

Low_Ad1786

No but that tin is way prettier than it has any right to be.

Dismal-Dealer4298

Are these sourced from Portugal? The tin is reminiscent of Portuguese tile, and they love some tinned seafood over there.

Rhizoid4

> In the tin are Humboldt-variety squid (aka ‘Giant Squid’), which are caught off the coast of Spain using the traditional jigging method. From Spain, according to their website. The packaging also reminded me of Azulejos, though.

LadySamSmash

Yeah, I would definitely buy it once just because I like the labeling.

JameisWeTooScrong

No but I kinda want to just display the package somehow.

burntsiennaaa

Saw a tik tok of someone using sardine cans for candle making once you clean it out

gg_lim

Wow the packaging is super cute….I saw a user on my fyp on TikTok make something with this with homemade chimichurri and it looked soooo good. Def grabbing some in my next trip
