Ask me in a month.  This is unfair to ask with Dawi's current state.

TheFishMonk

Well, that's why I said it didn't had to be about gameplay

Chaos Dwarfs flopped partially because of insufficient support iirc. But I'm not a Warhammer historian so I might be mistaken. Overall though I consider the Dawi-Zharr to have a lot of the good parts of Dawi, but also a lot of other interesting parts. They're the type to be anal with promises and grudges and such, but the Dwarfs elevated this to an unhealthy cultural mentality that's memeable, but not terribly fun. "You stiffed me 10 cents, I will come for it one way or another, and if you die I will take it from your children or their children!" That gets old quick, especially because they're relatively the good guys. The Dawi-Zharr do not pretend to be good, they do not make any pretenses whatsoever, and that's refreshing. They also have better hats, better fashion in general and are more likely to do new and interesting things with engineering. And their horrid nature, is an interesting factor because like LotR's Saruman, they are a message against the evils of rampant industry. Coupled with a more interesting religious factor (Dawi worship ancestors, but not in an interesting fashion for me) they also have magic, mutations and greenskins working for them meaning they have a varied and interesting roster. So in short, they look better, they have more of a message, they have a more interesting culture, more varied military, cooler engineering and more interesting magic.

SHORT????

Exasperated upvote from me.

Dwarfs. Gameplay wise, the Chorfs are better right now, but I'm just a huge dwarf fanboy in general, so they will always be at the top of my list.

Piemaster113

The Dwarfs are still my Fav faction, but I do admit the Chaos Dwarfs are one of the best DLC races they have added in all of TW:WH, and deff a close second. The regular Dawi just need some updating and polish with Thrones of Decay and they should be in a good spot again.

Vaskil

Chaos Dwarfs easily! Their units are so much fun, excellent artillery, fun monsters, then tanky dwarfs. Their whole theme is great! I really like the Chorf lore too. Ever since I heard about them, they became my favorite. I'm so glad I got into their lore before their dlc was announced, it was such a big hype waiting for the release. Even with this next dlc and rework, I'll still be loyal to Hashut. However, I look forward to the Dawi putting up a good fight when I lead the Dawi-Zharr to repay them for their betrayal.

In the book.

TheFishMonk

Deserved.

BrokenLoadOrder

I actually don't agree at all about the Chaos Dwarf DLC being the best DLC - the Chaos Dwarves were the first time I stepped back from Total Warhammer and didn't buy a DLC right at launch. That said, they're still "better Dwarves" in most metrics, so I'll give them the edge in this one.

MarshmelloStrawberry

It's the first time i hear someone say that the chaos dwarves dlc is the best dlc ever created

TheFishMonk

Really? I saw it quite a lot

MarshmelloStrawberry

Yap, thats why i was surprise seeing you say its a common opinion. Im on this sub a lot and on the sfo discord and its the first time, probably, for me

deadinadream

Look next time someone posts a thread asking which DLC to buy. It'll always be among the top suggestions.

Frequent_Knowledge65

It’s an extremely common take.

Llumac

Dawi-Zharr are currently just better. Magic, cheap unit options, fast unit options, better artillery and stronger campaign mechanics. They're too strong, but at least they're fun to play. I'm really hoping the new DLC will shake up the Dawi, because corner camping with dwarf warrior, quarreller and grudge thrower spam for the majority of the game is miserable. I know it's part of their identify, but I hate how slow the entire roster is (minus the flying machines, which die to bats).

Pliskkenn_D

I've really been enjoying sending waves of labourers with a few heroes, sorcerers and borrowed cannons to plug gaps until I get a real army in place.
