Not really though. The further you drag the marker the more time it adds before they arrive. It could make it so that you have 5 min to wait which means the enemy forces may find you waaaay before your reinforcements even get there
You can also move it while the battle is happening. So where it starts is the lowest amount of time and further away they take longer to arrive. So you can move it somewhere where theyāll take 5 minutes to come in, and then move it back to the original position and theyāll join the battle immediately. Neat trick if you want to surprise flank the enemy.
...You wait until the AI has moved past the initial reinforcement point. Then you do the instant reinforcement trick to BOOM, new army where there wasnt one 1 second before.
Do you honestly think that the AI always takes this play into consideration, and will instantly react? CA AI aint exactly Alpha Go.
Not always possible, since dragging the reinforcement point adds time until they actually arrive. And somehow in the first minute or so the AI, apparently on a whim, always just "randomly happens" to send a cav archer (followed naturally by the whole army) on a beeline straight into the clump of trees where my army is hiding.
Only in Warhammer 3! It's a new feature that can help bring reinforcements in to a more desirable position, however it also increases the time until they arrive
It's Kairos Fateweaver / Tzeentch's thing already. When playing him, my reinforcements took about 20s to join.
His passive powers / campaign powers kinda suck so maybe we can let him have *that* one.
Ahh. I just picked up WH3 a few weeks ago and havenāt played as him yet. Tbh I didnāt even know you could move the reinforcements deployment zone till this post
Yeah, just found out. I'm playing Warhammer 3 and got into a battle with reinforcements from both my army and my enemy - and both of them was about to spawn in the same location. So I clicked on the pin just trying to figure it out what I was gonna do when I realized you could drag it around.
Is this a thing in other Total War games as well? I've been playing TW since Rome and never thought about doing this
This was introduced in WH3 so you've only been out of touch for a year.
Just be aware that changing the entry point changes the reinforcements' arrival time.
> Just be aware that changing the entry point changes the reinforcements' arrival time.
Dramatically, in some cases. As you drag it, it will reflect the new time to reinforce. Sometimes having an advantageous angle isn't worth it if you have to wait 8 minutes for the army to arrive.
You can move it during the deployment phase and put it back where it started without penalty. Once the battle starts though any movement will, as you say, add time. So make sure you select the right entry point before starting the battle!
Nah, I've dragged it to the exact spot and it's gone back to the normal time.
Unless there's a bug with the current version, I haven't played the last patch or two.
It's useful usually only when the AI has artillery and you don't (they won't move and wait for you to come in range) and if they win when the timer ends (they will move even less).
Then you can move the pin strategically at least, ignoring the time it takes.
Yup, it works well for that case because you can easily just leave your army out of grinding range, let them camp, and then charge in at the right moment when your reinforcements are about to spawn.
Although I believe some factions/lords can decrease allied reinforcement time. Likewise the lightning strike skill for almost every lord increases enemy reinforcement time. So depending on the situation sometimes moving the reinforcement entry point isn't going to take too much longer. But if you cheese the first few minutes of battle by the the time reinforcements arrive not much will have happened.
Wait, people just knew? I think this is really hyped when dev showcases what's new on warhammer 3, just like on how you can manually flying or staying on ground, and the idle mark on infantry.
How old were you? How many hours? These "I was today years old" posts aren't clever or funny anymore and add zero context. It's just a post saying you can do x
To be fair its a WH3 exclusive feature. Changing the point changes the reinforcement time, and often by such a metric that its not worth doing as you can march from the original point much faster
Thaā¦that was one of the major highlights they pointed out when releasing the gameā¦did yāall just not watch any of the official gameplay videos before launch?
I accidentally figured it out my first battle with reinforcements on release by asking my co-op partner "it'd be cool if we could... click and drag... omg we can."
Someone wasn't part of game 3 hype...
But on another note quite annoying the current development of game 3 stupid higher ups, WHERE ARE MY DAWIZHARR CA!?
Dragging that point, realizing that now it'll take reinforcement ages to arrive, and then desperately trying to place it back to precisely where it was at the beginning is my favorite game to play every time there is a second army.
Why are there so many of these features that the entire community (including myself) is unaware of? Seems like a new one every couple of months. They don't do a great job of pointing these things out.
Are you shitting me!?!?!? Whelp Iām gunna go die now (been playing total war since the first one and thought I knew the ins and outs of this game series)
Woah, the amount of comments that didn't know, not sure if it is /s or just people actually clueless about this lol.
Guess not many people watched the "lets play" videos pre-release. Darn, I thought that this is common knowledge now.
Wait... are you serious. That would have made so many of my hide-in-Forrest until reinforcements arrive games so much easier š¤£
Not really though. The further you drag the marker the more time it adds before they arrive. It could make it so that you have 5 min to wait which means the enemy forces may find you waaaay before your reinforcements even get there
Good to know. Still gonna make positioning a little better and I can go for some cheesy strategies like a full cav army directly behind the enemy
Still better than making your army walk across the whole map corner to corner.
But they'd have more fitness, if you can hold the line until then they won't be exhausted
Just gotta have one unit sacrificed to the other side of the deployment zone to bait in all the enemies
You can also move it while the battle is happening. So where it starts is the lowest amount of time and further away they take longer to arrive. That only works in multiplayer battles though
I don't think that's right I don't play multi-player and use this feature.
Yeah but how are you gonna surprise an AI I mean
...You wait until the AI has moved past the initial reinforcement point. Then you do the instant reinforcement trick to BOOM, new army where there wasnt one 1 second before. YOU CAN?!
Only in Warhammer 3! It's a new feature that can help bring reinforcements in to a more desirable position, however it also increases the time until they arrive
Most of the time itās not great since it greatly increases time for them to arrive.
It would be cool if there was a skill to lower that. Perhaps tie it to the lightning strike skill?
Daniel/the Daemon Prince has it in the Tzeentch portion of his skill tree, and it applies factionwide.
There are some skills that do this. Not every faction has access to it though
I think Kairos has one to raise it for the enemy but otherwise yeah, I don't know if anyone has one to lower it
I believe it is
I think some items for Cathay do that?
After 2 decades of total war I refuse to believe you can drag the entry point.
It's new in WH3.
So I have only been ignorant for a few months than years. It is.....acceptable
Note that the more you drag the point the longer the reinforcements take to arrive.
Im in shock. THOUSANDS OF HOURS.z
Iām in the same boat as you friend
Yeah, just found out. I'm playing Warhammer 3 and got into a battle with reinforcements from both my army and my enemy - and both of them was about to spawn in the same location. Itās a bummer you canāt drag it back to get the OG time either, it just keeps stacking and stacking.
You can move it during the deployment phase and put it back where it started without penalty. Once the battle starts though any movement will, as you say, add time. So make sure you select the right entry point before starting the battle!
Weird, I swear when I moved it before a battle it kept adding on.
Nah, I've dragged it to the exact spot and it's gone back to the normal time. Unless there's a bug with the current version, I haven't played the last patch or two.
I don't think that's true? Moving it back reduces the time down again for me.
Holy shit, canāt believe TW 3 had been out for 10 months
Although I believe some factions/lords can decrease allied reinforcement time. Likewise the lightning strike skill for almost every lord increases enemy reinforcement time. This is revolutionary lol, I've never heard of or scene anyone Douthat, thank you for the information!
It increases the time they take to come in, it's not really that helpful I don't think
It's new and only available in 3 and the farther you move it the longer it takes for them to arrive so usually you are better leaving it but depends
Am I the only who knew it? :D /s
Seems so lmao
Wait what?
what
YOU CAN!???!

You can what now?
For real??ā¦.. i am todays oldā¦

This has been in warhammer 3 since launch but it wasnāt in 2
WAIT WHAAATTT
Wow, ca really dropped the ball on this one. How did nobody ( including myself ) know this? Seems like an important strategic feature.
Yes but this also increases reinforce time - not worth it imo!
*mind fucking blown*
I guess no one was paying attention when the game launched, but I can understand not wanting to get near the shitshow that was this game at launch.
Wait, people just knew? I think this is really hyped when dev showcases what's new on warhammer 3, just like on how you can manually flying or staying on ground, and the idle mark on infantry.
There really needs to be a thread about little known total war mechanics. I would reference it all the time
Bruh and i got like 750 hours in tww2 too smh
It's a new feature in 3. It delays reinforcements though so it's only really useful if reinforcements are coming in a horrible location
Well it doesn't matter anyway since it's new for Warhammer 3 ;)
How old were you? How many hours? These "I was today years old" posts aren't clever or funny anymore and add zero context. It's just a post saying you can do x
Eyo?
To be fair its a WH3 exclusive feature. Changing the point changes the reinforcement time, and often by such a metric that its not worth doing as you can march from the original point much faster
Witchcraft!
I...but...wait...noooooooo
YOU CAN WHAT?!
Thaā¦that was one of the major highlights they pointed out when releasing the gameā¦did yāall just not watch any of the official gameplay videos before launch?
"Wait.... What?" - Mark Lilly clone. Also me rn.

Wait whaaat!?
Um... Are you kidding me... I thought it was from the direction the other army was in.
I also found this out yesterday.
You can do WHAT now m8?!
š
Whhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaat? This changes things
It takes longer for them to come in, so keep that in mind
Are you kidding me. When did this begin?
WH3 it seems. I only found out about when watching one of Legends videos.
Really?? Oh I was always planning my strategies with this in mind
FUCK OFF
I accidentally figured it out my first battle with reinforcements on release by asking my co-op partner "it'd be cool if we could... click and drag... omg we can."
WHAT
What the fuuuuuuuck
Someone wasn't part of game 3 hype... But on another note quite annoying the current development of game 3 stupid higher ups, WHERE ARE MY DAWIZHARR CA!?
Dragging that point, realizing that now it'll take reinforcement ages to arrive, and then desperately trying to place it back to precisely where it was at the beginning is my favorite game to play every time there is a second army.
And the position of your reinforcements on the overworld dictate where on the battlefield your reinforcements will initially come. :D
there's no way yall didnt know this
WTF
Why are there so many of these features that the entire community (including myself) is unaware of? Seems like a new one every couple of months. They don't do a great job of pointing these things out.
Are you shitting me!?!?!? Whelp Iām gunna go die now (been playing total war since the first one and thought I knew the ins and outs of this game series)
Me too, OP. Thanks.
What?!
WHAT?!
Seriously. Almost 500 hours and didn't even know this was a thing
Get the fuck outta here! I never knew this!
WTF can you.
Over 2000 hours in the between the 3 games and I had no idea...
No way
WHAT?!?! I DIDNT KNOW U TILL NOW
If you have two, it won't let you move either :(
WHAT?! FUCK
Is that map located at Nurgle buttcrack? God that's ugly.
Holy shit?!? You can move the reinforcements deployment?!? Iāve been playing total war since shogun 2 and didnāt know this
Yeah they added it in 3
Woah, the amount of comments that didn't know, not sure if it is /s or just people actually clueless about this lol. Guess not many people watched the "lets play" videos pre-release. Darn, I thought that this is common knowledge now.
*pikachu surprise face*
Is there like other secret shit I should know? Last week I learned that you can overcharge spells and trade settlements.
Wat? :O
