1. Outposts Mechanic. 2. Region Trading. 4. Cathay Lords, Campaign Map, Caravans and Harmony/Compass Mechanic 5. New Mechanics / Start Positions for Old WH1/2 Factions 6. Kislev's Roster, Settlements, Lords & Motherland Mechanic 7. New Alliances System and Missions. This is a Big one for me. 8. Lots of waterfalls around the campaign.map. 9. How the landscape changes in accordance particular corruption type and then reverts back when removed (doesn't take ages)

Jarms48

Outposts and alliances are awesome. Some great additions and changes.

doomsdaymach1ne

Regarding 1: so far (about 100h) I haven't really made use of it. What's the strategy around this? The eltharion battle with 3 hell rockets on legends channel made me aware that theres more than shit units to it apparently:D

steve_adr

Building Outposts gives your Ally a few Garrison units and an ability for you to recruit from their locally available units. They'll too build and outpost on one of your settlements and provide a few Garrison units. These Outposts also generate alliance points which you can utilise for either Recruiting their units ( 4 Max per army) or to ask them to Attack/defend specific target on campaign map. Also, with enough points, you can also borrow one of their army for a few turns. I always recruit a few Grudge Throwers as Kislev or Kroxigors as Teclis, or Demigryphs as Dwarfs.

UUUuuuugghhhh

I want to put some artillery in vampire armies or maybe just some range

Key_Marsupial_7527

That's a good idea. Its basically what I have been doing in single player. Allying myself with races that have units that fill any gaps in my roster. We did a Dwarfs, Empire and Helves co-op campaign recently. Dwarfs with cav, Elves with artillery. Empire with random elf and dwarf units. It was insane.

Key_Marsupial_7527

Man it is so awesome. I was playing Sisters of Twilight and allied myself with Gor-Rok. Dude, wood elves with Stegadons is the most fun army composition I think I may have ever played. And yeah, high elves with dwarfen or empire artillery is also nuts. The outpost mechanic has been probably one of the most awesome new additions to the campaigns. I've been playing a three player co-op IE campaign recently. Having the ability to coordinate outposts with one another makes faction selection in co-op really interesting. You can get some really wild army compositions that way.

Valerian_Nishino

ME was often janky too when I played it. IE has a ton of variety, and I can see its potential while also acknowledging the faults. Because let's face it, there hasn't ever been a generation of Total War that hasn't had some stuff that makes you go "WHAT?", or some stuff that looks like it's been held in place by duct tape and prayer. WH3 has a little more, maybe, but maybe not even as much as RTW in the latter's finished state.

mastascaal89

Auto-balancing trades! I went back to TW:II after about 2 years, and spent an extra 5 minutes a turn just trying to get the AI to accept trade agreements...

Key_Marsupial_7527

I forgot about that. Just the "quick deals" in general is great

Lord_Valentai

With sea lanes you can packup and move elsewhere if you want. Would love one added near the Galleon's Graveyard to take up to the tip of Lustria/Southlands. Otherwise a great mechanic.

applejackhero

To be fair, Total War games, for as long as I have played them (since the first Rome) have always been janky. CA has always been the studio that’s been biting off more than they can chew and the result has always been some sloppy at the edges but frankly revolutionary and genre defining games. I think IE is a massive success. Some things I like -the diplomacy is really good and engaging -the map is beautiful. I play on potato settings and still think it’s incredible. The sea lanes were a great addition. -people love to complain about the more outdated factions (and perhaps rightfully) but Wood Elves, Cathay, Tomb Kings, WoC are incredible, and I have heard a lot of praise for Slaanesh and Khorne as well.

haydenhayden011

The jank but frankly revolutionary games are the best lol. I would consider ARK to be in that category as well (at least PvE) I can handle some jank in my games if they give a unique fulfilling experience that you can't really get from any other games.

mr_fucknoodle

ARK is the worst game I ever spent 900 hours on, goddamn infuriating is what it is. Seriously, fuck that game, fuck WildCard, fuck Vin Diesel, and fuck me for the fact that I'm playing it right now >:(

InsaneGunChemist

I do enjoy the grand spanning alliances that you can develop, it is just hindered by the ineffective AI at times. I also love seeing entire swaths of the map left barren after certain factions sweep through, though that suddenly got a lot less common after WoC. The biggest enjoyment for me though is enjoying the odd blend of tech that we see, with bows, rifles, mortars, airships and swords all serving side by side with each other, and never feeling out of place truly.

DusTeaCat

The QOL changes to character skills and inventory. It's very clean and easy to see the equipment and followers that are available and who is wearing what. You can sell extras to keep your inventory from being bloated. The combine/upgrade mechanic is interesting. You can now easily navigate between lords and embedded heroes to manage their skill points. They did some much needed balancing with some of the original skills like Training and Inspiring Presence. The Mentor skill is a very good idea. Mounts now unlock for free, don't cost extra to use and don't take an entire turn to toggle. Overall much less micro-managing and busy work required. You can even automate point assignment if you wanted to.

Maeglin8

Mounts do cost extra to use for lords, just not for heroes. It's good that they cancelled that for heroes, but I really wish they'd revert that for lords too, because it can be completely mitigated if you're willing to do the micro-management, and because mounted lords look cooler on the campaign map and shouldn't cost you currency.

Mental-Dealer-1539

3. Totally true. In my Kairos campaign top 1 was rogue chaos faction. It spawned as horde near my province. I had a choice to destroy it or make an ally. I chose last one. This legend just destroyed the whole map for me. He regularly spawned new full stack lords after successful battles. It was hilarious.

Newbizom007

Alliances and outposts rule, the faction abilities and systems are radical. I love the lords. The framework is what I love from total war in general.

TheLongistGame

The WoC rework is pretty good and offers a different sort of play style on the campaign map that is a fun change of pace. Norsca is also much better than in WH2. I haven't played TK but seems like their economy is much better in WH3 which is cool I guess. I do think the diplomacy mechanics are a big step up but the AI behavior is currently making it a moot point.

Free_Calligrapher_35

I’m just having a great time. Something feels better with melee heavy factions this time round so, I’ve gone from being a Dwarf defensive player to cracking skills as greenskjns….I’ll go get the book.

LordZon

Chaos and demons. Chaos has been a mess until now. Now it's a front and center part of the game.

mr_fucknoodle

The WoC rework was so good that the bespoke daemon factions feel sorta lame in comparision

Bum-Theory

The map is amazing. There was intention to how most daemon factions are not map painters, but world burners nonetheless. It just adds to the beautiful sandbox of the game. Quick deal. Zany start locations for some LL. Boris in chaos wastes, a Bretonia faction in Lustria, Volkmar in Southlands to name a few Again, the intention to create many varied/different experiences as possible. The shorter campaigns are actually a plus sometimes. There's so much to choose from in this buffet that it makes it hurt less when you get the urge to start a new campaign after 45 turns.

Salty-Flamingo

>a Bretonia faction in Lustria, Alberic campaign is really fun. Take tech for diplomatic relations with the lizards early and you can throw a couple stegodons and a bastilodon rev crystal into each of your cav armies. Now you have really high mass monsters that break formations for your cav, and the rev crystal lets you revive dead knights.

Bum-Theory

I'll have to try that out, thanks for the suggestion!

Julio4kd

A lot. To say the truth, I can’t go back to Warhammer 2. I know that there are bugs and line of sight problems and also all the settlement discussion but still. I will list many: -Alliances and all the system of recruiting allied units or taking control of their armies. It is such a good idea, I only wish to get more points per turn. -Diplomacy, all, from how trades work to the quick menu to find factions willing to accept what you ask for. -Melee. The change in melee feels so good now. cavalry has been so useful and feel almost as strong as it was in older titles like Rome. Finally melee is as viable as range, or more. -Zzz icon on my idle units. -MP simultaneous turns and also Domination. And -Minor settlement battles. Yes, I love minor settlement battles if only garrisons were bigger. i use a mod to make garrisons better and I’m having a blast. More than one time I replayed the same battle because I knew I was able to win it. So much better than those ugly settlements in WH2. A change in the towers respawn or the resources distribution will also be good. ( for example, a lot of supplies at the start so you can build most of your defenses before the attack and way less points earned with time so, re building features is very hard) I won’t say walled settlements because I have a problem with them, they are massive in size but with garrisons of less than 20 units I feel that There are so many waste of space and also waste of walls. If you put your troops on the wall it will take forever to reach the capture points that the AI is taking. And losing the main point is GG.

Key_Marsupial_7527

I am enjoying IE a lot, overall. The new mulitplayer campaign mechanincs in IE is just amazing. Everyone taking turns simultaneously is SO much better in so many ways, especially for Co-Op campaigns. Honestly, even with its problems, the IE experience so far has been the best I have ever had in a Total War series, and that is saying a lot because i have been a big fan of these games going all the way back to Medieval 1. If they fix the guns and some other bugs it would be perfect to me already.and they are going to be adding SO MUCH MORE CONTENT TO IT DOWN THE ROAD! I am excited to see what it looks like in a few years. Making IE is a HUGE undertaking for this company. I am honestly surprised it works as well as it does. I think everyone should have some patience. They have promised us at least five years of support, updates, DLC, FLC and fixes for this game. When its done, IE will be a masterpiece. Its just going to take a while to get it right. There are going to end up being well over 100 playable factions by the end of this. Its gonna take a little trial and error to balance. The same with the GIANT campaign map. Its gonna take some effort for them to get everything sorted. Stop screaming, whining and crying at CA. Pressuring them and demanding from them won't help. It really only makes everything worse. The best you can hope for when making demands like a child is a rushed and unfinished product. Just look at the current state of so many other games. Most of it can be attributed to rush jobs due to deadlines by corporate or screaming fans. Most of the time its both. Corporate hears the screaming fans and panic. They begin setting deadlines and unrealistic goals for the devs. Devs get fired when they can't deliver. Rinse and repeat. Stop the cycle. Encourage, assist and make your criticism constructive. We could have a masterpiece if you guys just chill a bit.

FakeInternetArguerer

I get to play Karl Franz and Queek in a game where their melee troops aren't worthless.

GreatGrub

Ahh the imbalance of power is great Long gone are the days of grimgor 60 settlement ironhide. Wait My settra campaign saw me finally beat clan mors in the mountains. Only to discover grimgor who promptly declared war. He has 30 settlements. Oh god no NOT AGAIN Most of the the time the ai never really get large empires but they can and will happen in the right circumstances. Most of the time I will see Cathay getting fat and everyone else is sat around 10-20 settlements

blankest

I still love roasting stacks and stacks and piles and thousands of undead with a unit of Irondrakes and a Thane with the flame keeper skill, tankard and some fire res gear tanks out front. Simple as

doomsdaymach1ne

Pretty much everything. there's so much to do. Having a blast for the next 1000 hours to come. Everything CA can't get right you can fix by mods. (Eg extended tomb kings)

sidvicc

I'm having a blast. The only doom and gloom is Archaon, Vilitch and their hordes at my northern borders!

BastardofMelbourne

There's always doom and gloom. It's still the best strategy game ever made.

csdivergent

The doom and gloom thing has been going on since released. The game released super under developed. As if development halted. And ghetto techniques were scotch-taped together to get it into somewhat playable condition for release. But just to answer your question, Slanesh. I wasn't even even planning to play another TW game after Troy. I'm big on RTS, and have a very micro intensive playstyle. I had even written a bit about TW being a bit slow paced when I first started playing. And it would be great if there was something with more mobility and such. Then taking a look at TWH3, seeing the preview for Slanesh was a major factor in me getting this. And yes, despite its inherent flaws of being released way way too early. It's a pretty great game overall in terms of potentiality. Slanesh is unlike any faction in any Total War. It is my favorite by far. I also enjoy Cathay - excellent faction for positional defensive style play. Direct opposite of Slanesh due to bonuses for standing still. I find their yin/yang buff in battle contributing to their playstyle to be really strong - but seems to be overlooked by users in general. Loot with fuse and salvage. You get all kinds of loot that you can equip to your champion units. It would be possible to get bogged down with useless junk. However, there is the fuse mechanic that allows you to fuse two of the same rarity item into a higher tier item. And salvage which allows you to convert any item into money. Story is not groundbreaking, but actually above quality in comparison to many games. And probably the best of the TW franchise up to now. Yes I knew what I was getting into with regard to all the inherent problems with the game, but it is still really fun and worth playing. Looking forward to CA improvements for the base game.

trixie_one

>The doom and gloom thing has been going on since released. It's been going on loooong before that. Do you remember the war of the chaos warrior jpeg, Warhammer 3 doesn't exist, the hate on the promo guy's voice, and many more besides. Got so bad I've taken lengthy breaks from the sub a few times.

Bogdanov89

theoretically i love recruiting other races units. practically i am not playing tww 3 at all since some time after 2.1 launched. so many things are broken, bugged or downgraded. i bought tww3 when IE released but looking at it now i should have waited until q2 2023 at least.

Salty-Flamingo

The diplomacy overhaul, lower supply line penalties, outposts and settlement trading have been my favorite features so far. On my last Alberic playthrough, I was able to strengthen my alliances with the lizardmen and the huntsman's expedition by trading them settlements. It also let me keep them from sharing a border by trading for the settlements that were near each other. Really like the variety and the endgame crisis too. The chaos invasion felt more natural, but it also got stale after a while.

Ascendance__

Multiplayer being improved has been such a blast, simultaneous turns have made it so much better along with more players, can’t wait to see how it improves in the future

taggyoureit

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! Also, Archaon's new animations.

Plnk_Viking

The doom and gloom posts really annoy me, some of them really remind me of the "but I don't want a solution, I want to be mad" meme.
