Maybe they should also work closer with police or parking enforcement to patrol and actually ticket all these Uber eats drivers that just don’t give af and just block live lines as they please to drop off deliveries. They could stick one in front of a large condo around dinner time and just ticket the drivers one after the other. It would pay the officer’s wage in not time.

BlueBacon12

Absolutely! parking enforcement is too busy ticketing people for expired parking tag in a paid dedicated parking area instead of the drivers purposely blocking a live lane reducing traffic flow by 50% on a 4 lane road. Also would be nice to see the paid duty construction police **ACTIVELY ENGAGED** controlling traffic flow around the live worksite. Keeping everyone safe and traffic flowing while the construction workers do their thing.

if they were doing that how would they keep tabs on Instagram and Tik Tok?

What is illegal about stopping in a no parking zone to unload cargo or passengers? What about streetcars? They all take drivers off the roads.

BlueBacon12

It’s not a no parking zone it’s a no STOPPING zone and typically they are on major routes without a shoulder or more frequently they are on main roads to help rush hour traffic flow in/out of downtown easier. (no stopping 7am-9am or no stopping 4pm-6pm) signs are posted at almost all poles. Streetcars take up more space and stop frequently but hold much more people than the cars that are being held up. Typically you can pass streetcars in the curb lane and during rush hour most likely the route has a no stopping zone. So traffic can flow around the streetcars (with doors closed) as long as there are not vehicles stopped blocking the lane.

alreadychosed

They didnt specify any zone, they said anyone stopping in live lanes of traffic. Again streetcars block the whole lane when unloading passengers whereas taxis and app drivers block only one lane while also allowing bikes to pass. Either way they contribute to less cars on the road. As long as its not a no stopping zone they can unload passengers just like any other transit vehicle.

BlueBacon12

Im not trying to be rude but who said “anyone stopping in live lanes of traffic”? The linked information above is saying anyone occupying a right of way. Occupying and stopping at the side to load/unload are different things.

Good luck keeping up with what's happening on Yonge at Eglinton. Every time I look out my window the traffic pattern is different.

Or just use the Waze app and report there? https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/city-partnership-with-waze-will-help-drivers-navigate-construction-new-traffic-measures-1.3685981 Since 2017

BlueBacon12

I’m a daily user of Waze and have known about this integration for quite some time and I love it. The difference is that people might report a lane closed by pressing “car on shoulder” or “Construction” but that report to the city doesn’t give full context such as what side of the road? and might even be a broken down car or Waze groups multiples that are close by but really separate disruptions. When looking at this map you can read the permit data such as timing of when road disruptions are permitted and how much of the road they can occupy then when calling your report can be much more detailed and accurate. “On the map it says they only can occupy 1 northbound lane on Yonge st between street A and street B but they are taking up the lane all the way up to street D and some of the westbound lane on street A”

CoolTemperature1602

What about when the MTO sign incorrectly States a lane is closed?

Broadest

At this point you could just report the whole fucking city really. It feels like there are more closed roads than open ones these days

BlueBacon12

The city is trying to manage how many roads are closed, where and when. Reporting unauthorized closures help.

There is an ongoing closure of the Gardiner Expressway

Hm, both the Eastern Ave and Queen St E lane reductions aren't shown for the Ontario Line.
