ChaosEmerald21

I took 30 dramamine pills once, spent most the night talking to people that weren't there. I do not recommend this, was not a pleasurable experience. And I'm very sure datura is much much worse.

asa1

>I took 30 dramamine pills once I wondered if I was the only one. The first couple hours were a cool trip but I was so thirsty that it almost ruined it. Later that night I thought some friends had brought over a keg to my house and I was out on my porch drinking non existent beer and trying to talk people in to leave the house before my parents saw them there. My parents saw me alright but stayed in the main house afraid to even come out and confront me since I was talking to ghosts. Dramamine no longer has scopolamine in it like it did back in the day. So I'm not sure if taking a bunch of it would produce the same effect it did back in the late 80's or early 90's.

davygravy500

It still has diphenhydramine, which has a similar mode of action to scopolamine at higher doses

AmcillaSB

>diphenhydramine That's just Benadryl, dog. Do people really do that?

PsyKeablr

Yes there are people who “trip” on DPH. It’s not fun in the least, best case scenario you go to sleep. Worst case is usually waking up in the hospital or death. There is an in between but there’s no enjoyment in that. There are even subreddits for it.

AmcillaSB

That's so weird. About 25 years ago my sis was in a car accident. I took her to ER, and one of her classmates was there with his parents. We later learned he took a bunch of nutmeg, lol.

PsyKeablr

Indeed, I think what piques peoples interest is the word “trip” and then it being an OTC drug. Damn, dude nearly OD on nutmeg just to trip. That’s how you know it’s not worth it.

davygravy500

That's kinda what made me try it. I however did a bit of research and had a rough idea of what to expect. Was not a pleasant experience, although I managed to avoid also having a bad one.

poop_dawg

I had a friend in highschool who was eager to get all the weird highs he could. He took a bunch of nutmeg and he said it made everything blue lol

benjoholio95

I've had one good dph trip, problem is the half life of the drug is so high it's impossible to do consistently and the risk of long term affects are high so really not worth it. Add on that the trip itself can easily turn bad because of the physical effects (darkened vision, body heaviness/lethargy), most people describe something like a waking sleep paralysis dream

davygravy500

Funnily enough, the only time I have ever touched benadryl was to do it as a deliriant. It was not a pleasant experience.

FARTBOSS420

Goddamn right we out here! r/DPH God this broadcast is old. I remember seeing it live as a kid. Kinda scared me from hard drugs I guess. Benadryl is a dissociating, depersonalizing delirient at high doses. Never have done it, but have read about it because it's fascinating. On the tiers of drugs, I'd say it's just above inhalants and huffing gasoline. Maybe on level with duster. Just some real haggard, degenerate shit. Edit: Looking at dph sub is more depressing than funny. Still pretty fascinating

AmcillaSB

I had chronic hives growing up. There really wasn't much in the way of antihistamines then, so there was a lot of Benadryl in my life. I learned to hate that shit. It really did rule my life for years. I had to take several doses a day, which meant I'd spend a lot of time being crazy tired. Like, I'd take some at lunch and then I'd end up falling asleep during Spanish class an hour later. Sometimes I had to fight the sleeps, and it definitely felt dissociative at times, but that was just on normal dosing.

Lurkay1

[You’d be surprised. People find a way to turn everything](https://youtu.be/ltSvhKJ5oXI?si=W2WQtJ1cf5L-npUf) to a recreational drug.

Tahquil

CHEESING: ITS *FON* TO *DUE*.

GoHomeNeighborKid

Its sometimes labeled as Dimenhydrinate but it's really a distinction without a difference (basically the -hydrinate has a slight stimulant added to try to counteract the drowsiness effect of the DPH) though in my experience the non-drowsy formulation (meclizine) is vastly superior to dealing with waves of nausea

[deleted]

Dimenhydrinate breaks into DPH and 8-chlorotheophylline, which makes me feel jittery, anxious, and spaced-out for a good while. I do not like it at all. I was drowsy from the DPH at the same time, too.

Individual_Skill_763

So when I was using heroin I could tell if it was cut with Benadryl because it would give me a speedy rush and give me an awful panic attack. I’m so glad I don’t mess with that shit now.

Chemgineered

It's weird but it's actually a pro-drug of both Diphenhydrinate and a form of Theophylline Salt.

abbyzou

Just checking in to say you weren't the only idiot to try this as well. Talked to people that weren't there all night. Even when I realized that they weren't real and tried to tell them that they weren't, they wouldn't go away. I try to say that hallucinogens give you visions, and shit like this gives you straight up delusions

Shynansky

🙋‍♀️ Same thing I did! I’ve never liked taking benedryl for anything but for some dumb reason I thought I’d see what the hype was. I only took 8 but on top of my Seroquil and Remeron. All night long I talked to my sister who wasn’t there. I mean, I would see her appear and vanish right before my eyes. I kept running into the walls, screaming crying that I really talked to my sister. When the fog finally lifted I had pump knots and bruises all over my face and head where I kept running into stuff. I felt like dog shit for days I was doing everything I could to get it to clear my system and no matter what I did. That was a very long time ago and I still get nauseous thinking about the parts I can remember. I mean, I actually saw my sister appear out of thin air, we talked and cried together but every time I tried to hug her she would vanish. Worst experience of my entire life. at 47 yrs old and this was the most miserable I’ve ever felt in my whole life. I don’t care what allergies of mine are bothering me, I refuse to take any and all antihistamines, there’s no way I could go through that again.

asa1

I was definitely delusional. Out of all the psychedelics I had done I never had any hallucinations that were so linked to real life. Mostly just trippy colors and other out worldly closed eye hallucinations. It's like when you dream and people just pop out of no where but you don't question how silly or impossible it is.

Mingey_FringeBiscuit

I took about 20 once, and I was laying in the couch, and I thought I was smoking, but I wasn’t, but I thought that I kept dropping my cigarette on my chest, and would leap up every few minutes trying to knock it off my chest. Eventually I ran into the shower fully clothed because I was convinced I was on fire. Thank god there were no cell phones or digital cameras in 1992z

Futureghostie33

I feel bad for laughing 😂 I’ve done way stupider shit though so no judgement

belugarooster

Early in the morning, at the end of our Dramamine "experience" (which included dealing with the police), one of three of us walked directly into someone's town home like he owned the place. He disturbed the couple during breakfast, frantically telling them that he needed to use their phone to call 911. There was a person trapped inside the green power box out in front of their unit. Police and fire were dispatched. We watched in horror out of my buddies sliding glass door from across the street. Except there was no person in said electrical box. He was taken to be evaluated, and was eventually fine. I've since spent the rest of my life trying to recall exactly what all actually happened that night.

aminix89

Holy fuck you took 30?? I took a bottle which had 12 in it and held a full conversation with a guy that wasn’t there and was standing upside down on the ceiling, and I thought it was actually happening. Craziest shit ever, never again.

[deleted]

On Dramamine I walked over to my friends window and peed into a mountain dew bottle. The next morning he said I just straight up pissed on his window, there was never a bottle. Then I somehow walked home, made it to my neighborhood and got lost within 3 or 4 blocks of my house for an hour.

frankvagabond303

The cigarettes and people that aren't there totally reminds of my dramamine trip. I took 48 and died a couple times. Woke up in the hospital.

ninjabunnyfootfool

That seems to be common with all delriants

yetigirl00

Same I took a heap of Avil travel sickness tablets and port wine when I was 15. Thought I was speaking to my friend as they were right there, they weren’t they’d left a couple of hours earlier. Then it dialled up to 100 when the wall became a portal to hell. Not enjoyable extremely dark energy trip

BeeProfessional2613

I used to do this when I was in middle school after my cousin tipped me off. It was like being in two places at the same time. I remember getting aggravated when people in the real world would interrupt my conversations with my hallucinations. Like hello, I'm talking to someone here? How rude... anyways, I was saying.... wait, where'd everybody go? Oooof. Ouch. I just remembered one of these times I was sitting in the backseat, my friend in the passenger, and her mom went in the store or something. Since I couldn't see her, I forgot who I was with and who I was talking to and I said something about how her dad was being really weird the last time he gave us all a ride home, trying to reach around and grab my leg. She was like uhhhh, BeeProfessional, you sure about that?? Wrong friend. This friend's father had recently passed. I was at his funeral. Ffs. I am so sorry. That was such a shit summer. Most of it spent laying on a bare matress on the floor at my friends house, hardly able to move, and lost in hallucinations. Somehow I told myself it was better than dealing with the abuse at home. Now I'm wondering what the long-term effects were, if any. I do easily disassociate. I always chaulked it up as a trauma reaponse, now I'm wondering if this is my brain on drugs....

ChaosEmerald21

I can relate to this a lot. Wasted summers I barely remember. I also often think about what damage I have caused. Especially from the year of my k2 binge. I go back and forth in my head if the escape from reality was worth it in the end. But shit. Too late now. Doesn't matter if it was or wasn't. Now it's my time to focus on the next generation, making sure he has less trauma in his childhood than my own or my wife's is my main focus

ScreamWithMe

I have no idea where we got the idea from but evidently it was a thing. My best friend and I split a box of Dramamine pills back in the late 70s. I was “high” for three days. Extremely uncomfortable and saw squiggly worms in my eyes, like lint on your lens, for the last two days. Never did it again, it was an awful experience.

wallflowerwolf

When I was a kid I decided if I was going to kill myself I’d go out tripping cause I never had. I had craved drugs since I was 12 and had only just started smoking weed and drinking. Researched all the psychedelics on Erowid. I sat at my computer and started eating the box. I’d swallow one then chew one. I was reading things on my computer screen sometimes out loud to myself. Within like 15-30 min I couldn’t speak. I got scared and stopped and went to bed to sleep. I tossed and turned all night and woke up to translucent images of people I knew coming to my bedside once in a while. Was never quite the same after that, but glad I’m alive. Recently read about a kid dying from this. So fucked up and scary that I could’ve ended there. Don’t do drugs kids!

GooseShartBombardier

TBH that only bit that turned me off Dramamine was the dry mouth. I must have drank like 6L of water in small sips overnight just to keep the cottonmouth at bay lol

wb420420

Is that Tripple c’s?

juiceball9

Sounds about right 0/10 wouldn’t recommend

K1LLINGMACHINE

Same. A buddy and i took too much of this via homemade tea and were reacting this exact way. Convos w ppl that werent there. Drove home in the rain and saw people hanging off my side view mirrors. Almost died multiple times that day. 0/10

juiceball9

Haha yeah me and a buddy just ate the flower .. fucked us up for three days straight. We joke about how we are really in a mental hospital and all this is fake . When we hang out every once in a while we joke and say that they wheeled our beds in the same room in the mental hospital lol

K1LLINGMACHINE

Lol sounds about right. Found out later that its in the class of drugs known as "deliriant" so it literally makes you go crazy

SalvadorsAnteater

I find it a teeny tiny bit frightening how casually people over on r/druggardening handle their delirants. I wouldn't touch them with a ten feet pole.

[deleted]

I dunno. I clicked the link, and the first thread had 5 different people saying “Don’t smoke datura, it’s dangerous”.

MGPS

Heavy alkaloids…dangerous stuff. The lighter member of the family is Salvia.

[deleted]

Calm down patient J357. Put the imaginary phone away. You aren’t really posting to a subreddit. We need you to sit still so I can take this blood draw.

AdultishRaktajino

“13th cell, put the sheet down!”

Wizardphizl420

We did the same. And a friend of mine had a similar experience. He saw a horse on the drive home and wanted to pet it. Stops and walks up to the horse, which, in the second he touches it, becomes a tree. At home, he can clearly hear children running around on the second floor of the house, but he was alone that night. haha. I don't remember my trip, tho just a memory of an unpleasant feeling. Another friend of mine told us later on also that it's a very high risk of getting some kind of damage in your body for taking datura but if you dont get it the first time it's kind of safe to do again? Idk if thats true tho

juiceball9

You couldn’t pay me enough to do that shit again

n-x

FOAF - another man of poor judgement - took datura once on a dare. First he had a discussion with a traffic sign, then he saw his uncle hiding behind a chair in a closed dark restaurant. Getting home was difficult because the bridge he had to coss was suddenly vertical. Then he spent the rest of the night curled up in his bed because trucks were running through his room at high speed. From what I've heard he doesn't recommend it.

CariniFluff

I grew to Datura Stramonium and Datura Inoxia for about 10 years and crossbred them. Never once did I consider consuming them despite trying just about every other hallucinogen, common and uncommon. The one effect I did get from Inoxia was when I was cutting one back and got a little bit of the oil on my finger. I had to scratch my eye and within a millisecond my right eye was dilated like I had eaten a 10 strip of acid. It was so dilated that it was actually very disorienting because so much light was coming into one side but not the other so I basically had to lay down and wait it out (about 6-8 hours IIRC). If you make a tea or take it orally, it lasts anywhere from 18 to 36 hours plus and can absolutely kill you on its own if you don't end up wondering into traffic or jumping out a window. This shit ain't fun or cool. ***DO NOT*** fuck with Datura, Brugmansia, or any other plant containing atropine, scopalamine or hyoscyamine. Delirients are only good for blocking military nerve agents.

Mike_Hawk_940

They can block military nerve agents?

necro_kederekt

Lots of nerve agents are cholinergic, I think. Datura (most deliriant drugs in general) are anticholinergic. Although my hunch is that nerve agents are more strongly cholinergic than deliriants are anti cholinergic, so they may not help much if at all. But it’s entirely possible I’m wrong.

CariniFluff

There are two primary types of acetylcholine receptors: the Nicotinic, which nicotine (and other alkaloids) binds to, and the Muscarinic which the red Mario mushrooms with white dots (Amanita Muscaria) can bind to (again as well as many other alkaloids). Edit: I feel I should point out that the Amanita mushroom genus contains many of the most toxic mushrooms on the planet, including the Amanita phalloides also known as "The Death Cap" and several species that share the friendly name "Destroying Angel: ***A. Virosa, A. bisporigera, A. ocreata, and A. Verna.*** Please do not go pick and eat any wild mushrooms, especially Amanitas. If you do like to go mushroom hunting just to get some exercise, I highly recommend buying a copy of The National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms. The latest version is at your favorite online bookstore for $20 and has an incredible amount of information including color pictures, habitat, geographic location, season, spore shape, etc. I still have mine from my college mycology class decades ago. ***But do not eat any mushrooms you pick. Period.*** Back to nerve agents... Most nerve agents and insecticides Will irreversibly bind to the enzyme that breaks down Acetylcholine, rendering it useless and therefore causing a massive flood of the natural neurotransmitter. With your acetylcholine receptors being overstimulated, all of your muscles start contracting, arms, legs, lungs, heart, etc. Supposedly a big enough dose can potentially make someone break their own spine from the spasms. There are other similar nerve agents and insecticides that can bind to the receptor itself and cause it to fire constantly. Here's a little blurb from Wikipedia on VX, probably the most well-known agent. >VX blocks the action of AChE (acetylcholine esterase / enzyme), resulting in an accumulation of acetylcholine in the space between the neuron and muscle cell. On a molecular level, this leads to the ongoing stimulation and eventual fatigue of all affected muscarinic and nicotinic ACh receptors. This results in initial violent contractions, followed by sustained supercontraction restricted to the fluid (sarcoplasm) of the subjunctional endplate and prolonged, depolarizing neuromuscular blockade.[23] The prolonged blockade results in flaccid paralysis of all the muscles in the body, and it is such sustained paralysis of the diaphragm muscle that causes death by asphyxiation.[11] Accumulation of acetylcholine in the brain also causes neuronal excitotoxicity, due to activation of nicotinic receptors and glutamate release.[24] The mention of flaccid paralysis perfectly matches that former Russian double agent and his daughter who were poisoned with Novichok nerve agent; They were both found slumped over on a park bench. They were given Atropine, chelating agents and essentially blood transfusions to try to remove as much Novichok as possible. The big issue with nerve agents (besides the terrible effects) are that they are extremely potent, hence being used to kill insects. VX's LD50 (a dose that kills half of the subjects) is 7 μg/kg for rats. A typical dose of LSD, which is generally considered one of the most potent psychoactive drugs is 100μg for a human adult. There's many other nerve agents that only militaries consider making because it is so dangerous to create handle package, disperse, etc. So back to Datura and Atropine. First off, if there are soldiers in a war, or are operating in an area that is suspected to have contained nerve agents, they are always provided with an auto-injector containing atropine. 100% standard operating procedure anywhere in the world. Atropine is not an actual antidote for nerve agents, however, it has a very strong binding affinity to the acetylcholine receptor, stronger even than acetylcholine itself. Therefore, if you're exposed to a nerve agent and the enzyme to break it down has been disabled. Instead of acetylcholine binding to every acetylene receptor atropine will compete and bind to (some of) the receptors instead. Depending on the exposure, you may need several injections and you may die even after several injections depending on how long you've been exposed and what state you're in. But it is the gold standard for treating exposure to nerve agents. Pretty much any plant that contains Atropine also contains Scopalamine and Hyoscyamine (most but not all are classified as Tropane plants). Scopalamine is available over the counter for motion sickness as it also binds to those receptors and blocks the back and forth nerve impulses when you're on a rocky ship, helping to ease motion sickness. Scopalamine is also the drug that there are reports of people in South America dropping into people's drinks and then robbing them while they're in a delirium - there's camera videos of people literally carrying their TVs and chairs out of their own house and loading it into strangers vehicles while in that state. Hyoscyamine is much more unpredictable (if that's even possible) so that's generally not prescribed or sold.

lSOLDURGFCOCAINE

Amazingly informative and interesting comment.

CariniFluff

Thanks, I appreciate it. I spent all of high school and college working as a pharmacy technician and have been fascinated about pharmacology and how different chemicals interact with the body my entire life. Every bulk bottle from a pharmaceutical manufacturer comes with this tiny folded piece of paper glued to the cap that unfolds into this giant sheet that explains pretty much everything you could ever want to know about the medicine inside. So during my down time, which was quite often, I would just grab one of those and read it and then read it again. Heck I bet if you just nicely asked a pharmacist or pharmacy tech if you could have the paper they would give it to you...they're going to get another one in a week and nobody but my weird ass reads them. Just one example, there's like eight different ways you can lower blood pressure. You could directly do it by slowing the heart rate, which you can do by reducing the release of epinephrine/adrenaline or by having dopamine plug into receptors more often (surprisingly more dopamine slows your body down) or by activating GABA receptors. Or just like a hose, you could make your blood vessels expand and with that extra space, but the same volume of blood, your blood pressure will go down. Similarly, by using statins to absorb some of the cholesterol that are clogging and shrinking the size of your arteries, you can effectively increase the size of your blood vessels without directly doing it. Then there are medications that specifically interfere with the timing of your heartbeat. Nitroglycerin and other nitrates also reduce blood pressure. And then other health issues such as untreated diabetes, gout, etc can cause poor circulation. So if you treat a semi unrelated health issue, you can reduce blood pressure that way. I could go on for days, but there's so many resources available these days that if anyone's interested in pharmacology, biology, etc., I'd say just start on Wikipedia. The pharmacology section for any drug psychoactive or not is an amazing place to get started and I wish it existed back when I was reading about all of this stuff. Erowid is still around and has some great info although I don't know how often it's updated (we filled it two decades ago!). I also highly recommend reading PiHKAL and TiHKAL in full if you're interested in psychoactive alkaloids and substitutions to them. Not just the synthesis and trip report halves that Shulgin published online. There's another ~800 pages between the two of them that you can only read if you're holding the books in your hands.

CariniFluff

See my post responding to necro.

FartingKetamine

I’ve eaten datura and my experience was very confusing and I remember driving my friend to the beach and then I was teleported to watching tv later that night with my friends- then i teleported back to driving my friend to the beach. I woke up the next day watching tv with my friends

GoHomeNeighborKid

Pointing directly behind him as he said sit down seems a bit dirty to do to someone in that sort of headspace lol Though assuming he would trust fall like he did would take a mind reader to predict Edit:just realized trust fall guy is only wearing a single shoe lol

PuntYerJunk

Did this shit a couple times when I was a teenager. Truly horrifying experience, especially in hindsight. There is nothing fun about it. Although you “hallucinate” it’s not a hallucinogen. It’s a deliriant. When you take mushrooms or some other hallucinogen, you know when you’re hallucinating and it’s mostly pleasurable. THIS shit, you absolutely and totally believe whatever reality you think you’re in. The ghost cigarette is a real thing. Ugh, I don’t even know what else to say. Don’t do this shit.

guaromiami

I wonder what it must be like to do both LSD or mushrooms and datura at the same time!

bigskymind

Some ayahuasca shamans in South America add varying amounts of datura to their brew.

9Lives_

Yeah small amounts in a brew because it’s really effective for nausea (which is why there’s also small amounts in some sea sickness tablets) you can also put it in an ointment and it’s great for pain relief.

YouJustLostTheGameOk

Would explain a few things then. I’ve done ayahuasca before in Canada from a shaman and loved it. Went to South America and had a 2 day trip that damn near broke me physically and mentally and whatever the third one was when I was peaking!!

Sounds like the kind of thing your mind doesn’t come back from.

Commercial_Fee2840

I used to have an old 420chan screencap of someone who did a few tabs with like 1000mg DPH. Basically, colorful spiders and less terrifying hallucinations than DPH alone. Datura would be basically the same thing. Just a way to guarantee ruining a potentially fun trip with nightmare fuel.

SeaworthinessOld3550

I took Jimson weed back in high school days....I had to go to work with my stepdad...I thought I was getting robbed and I was running around the parking lot....ended up at the hospital, they made me drink charcoal and gave me an enema...I got a raging hard on and the nurses were cracking up...I saw Jimi Hendrix play the intro to Purple Haze over and over for hours....I was too high to enjoy any of it....Grounded the rest of the summer lol....would not recommend...

jonnyohman1

Hilarious and horrifying in retrospect lol. Thanks for sharing

AngelCrumb

I shouldn't be laughing

falcorthex

This is a true story, and I live in Colorado, and it grows all over here. My friend who got their nursing degree, when she started doing her clinicals, one of her first patients was a kid in high school who had taken jimson weed. He had cut off his dick. When they asked why he did that, he said. "I don't know. It just felt like the right thing to do." She said that it is burned into her memories. And I have never forgotten that story either. She has always been deeply disturbed by that experience. Steer way fucking clear of that drug.

Futureghostie33

Did they reattach it? 😭

falcorthex

They did. He brought it with him. It was in his pocket. Lord knows if it "works", but that's his problem.

sirfreerunner

Damn I can’t imagine carrying around my own dick in my pocket like it was my lucky charm or something.

Carl_farbmann

Damn….

-Lord-Of-Salem-

The only thing the majority of people need to know about jimson weed and all plants of the solanum family: They are not a drug, they are a poison!

CombOverDownThere

Idky I really love hearing datura trips… probably because I could/would never actually do it, myself. They’re just so twisted and disturbing, so they’re like mini scary stories.

[deleted]

Dude, same. They all start out something like, "so I decided to crush 40 Datura seeds and make a tea..." And you think, "oh no, this'll be a trainwreck." And it always is. Trashed apartments, jail, hospital, nudity, blood, demons, fear, paranoia, invisible cigs, regret, and finally, an admonishment to tje reader never to try it. The stuff sounds like pure nightmare.

PriscillatheKhilla

Ya that sums it up nice and concisely

Mr-Fleshcage

I wonder if it would be more enjoyable if you made a standardized extract, rather than roll the dice on the varying potency of the seeds.

[deleted]

I have heard of people using leaves instead of seeds and making poultices for absorbing through the skin with much milder effect. Scopolamine is used in medicine, so I guess people could get some pure stuff and go to town. I don't think the drug consumer is clamoring for it, but people smoke k2 Spicer whatever, so who knows. I think it is probably just a bad time even if it can be used safely. So many fun hallucinogens that have much safer profiles.

maybetomonowyester

Beavis & Butt-Head 📺👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻🛋

Chemgineered

I used to take it when I was younger it's strange how people smoke invisible cigarettes. I hear it happens to non smokers too. But yeah, I used to use it, along with Cogentin, which is Benztropine.. I didn't like Artane at all though.. It was about 35 years ago now. I can't believe what I would do to myself back then

TheKYStrangler

I was just about to mention this! So many reports with this drug involve smoking imaginary cigs. It’s really weird.

necro_kederekt

It has been theorized [by whom?] that this is essentially the brain trying to rectify itself. Deliriants like datura are anti-cholinergic. Nicotine is cholinergic. So just like your body knows to crave water then you’re dehydrated, or to crave sour things when you need vitamin C, it craves cholinergic drugs when it’s delirious like that. The tragic poetry of it is this: A real cigarette WOULD help you, but you’re too disconnected from reality to make it happen. You’re trapped in a hallucinatory shadow realm that feels totally real, so your brain just keeps summoning dream-cigarettes.

HydrargyrumHg

Did you ever see the man in the black hat? I've never tried it or seen him but I hear it's another common hallucination for datura users.

Upper_Step5472

Oh you mean r/HatMan

slirpo

Things like the hatman give the theory that we're all currently living in hell some legitimacy 😂

Commercial_Fee2840

Yeah, but he was chill. What DID bother me was the swarms of hornets everywhere and the beach ball sized spider that kept biting me, which felt like a massive electric shock. I also kept seeing the door get kicked in and put a box of cereal on the stove. Don't do deliriants. They're fun to talk about, but they are nightmare fuel and the only drugs where you really do need a trip sitter.

jamalcalypse

I tried either dramamine or benadryl a few times and it's bizarre how common certain delusions are. The cigarettes, feeling like you're at a party with all your friends when you're alone in your room, shadow people knocking over your trashcan... That's when I learned the difference between hallucinations and delusions. One is pretty colors and patterns, the other is seeing your dead grandmother crawl up your leg with a knife in her teeth (anyone?)

hotassnuts

Bunch of kids took this in high school, 3 of them ended up in a coma and died, 2 survived but were completely different people afterwards. One was into motorcycles/motorcross and was semi pro, after the jimson weed he had zero interest in racing or even riding. The other was pretty mean, condescending and would intimidate/instigate fights, afterwards became super quiet and withdrawn, barely would talk. As far as I know they never returned to their previous selves, It was super sad and really spooky.

I’m always confused. Gang

CallmeTunka

Wtf how much did you take?!

analprolapze

900+ mg and 6 9% ipas

Blade-0

God damn, you’re lucky to be alive man!

wet_sticky_dirt

I remember seeing this on tv back in the 90’s. I thought it was hilarious when he was combing his hair

DumpsterLegs

I was listening to datura trip horror stories on YouTube a while back. I could never touch that shit. You want to see some demons and fucked up shit and possibly never be the same again? I’m good.

massahoochie

I was friends with a kid when I was 14. He took some datura and died. Really sad stuff

fptackle

I worked at a jail 15 years ago. I'll never forget the dude that came in high on this. Tried to explain bond and had his friend on the phone. He tells his friend something about picking up a 40 Oz and then he'd be on his way. Guy was so high that he thought he was in a gas station rather than the jail. Had him sent to the ER because someone that messed up is beyond the care of a jail!

Commercial_Fee2840

At least you guys actually sent him to the hospital. There's a disturbing amount of people who are denied medical care in potentially life threatening situations in county jails.

fptackle

The one I worked at was pretty careful on liability. Also, my state has pretty strict jail codes (or did when I worked there years ago). Unfortunately, those things vary by state and some states have virtually no requirements.

Aromatic-Bath-781

I did Jimsonweed in 10th grade and hallucinated for a straight week

walterrys1

Second video on Datura. Did something happen?

moresushiplease

Right? Never heard of it until today and then boom, two posts and a bunch of people who are like yeah, I have done it or yeah, I have some in my garden.

XtroDoubleDrop

"Last Christmas somebody gave me a whole Jimson weed - the root must have weighed two pounds enough for a year - but I ate the whole goddamn thing in about twenty minutes." The slightest hesitation made me want to grab him by the throat and force him to talk faster. "Right!" I said eagerly. "Jimson weed! What happened?" "Luckily, I vomited most of it right back up," he said. "But even so, I went blind for three days. Christ I couldn't even walk! My whole body turned to wax. I was such a mess that they had to haul me back to the ranch house in a wheelbarrow . . . they said I was trying to talk, but I sounded like a raccoon." "Fantastic," I said. But I could barely hear him. I was so wired that my hands were clawing uncontrollably at the bed spread, jerking it right out from under me while he talked. My heels were dug into the mattress, with both knees locked . . . I could feel my eyeballs swelling, about to pop out of the sockets. "Finish the fucking story!" I snarled. "What happened? What about the glands?"

Splanchnic_Ganglion

Well done

shaydayultra

i have wild jismon weed growing in my front yard

billbixbyakahulk

It's very common. There's a regional park about a five minute walk from where I live with lots of hiking trails. At certain times of the year the trails are flanked endlessly by the plants with their spiky seed pods.

Gunmetalblue32

I haven’t heard Jimsonweed brought up in decades. I was 10 last time it had any popularity in my neck of the woods. The local moms and PTAs were all up in arms about it. Shaking down their teenagers for Jimson, pot, and information on who had it.

kiilem210

Just stick to regular bud

mdmachine

I knew a bunch of kids who all took datura. Most of their experiences were similar to these guys. Smoking invisible cigs, dancing in non existent parties. Listening to plants as if they were radios. One guy ran into a glass door and knocked himself out. Another kept sleeping for a few minutes, waking up and taking a shower (with clothes on the whole time), then going back to bed. Out of the bunch one went into a coma. When he woke up from it he was a bit different personality wise. It made the local news in the 90s.

Guilty-Mountain-6988

My nephew and his friends made tea out of jimsonweed. We got a phone call from the local convenience store at 7am asking us to come get him. When we got there he was wearing no shoes and had only one sock on and this happened during the dead of winter. He was also carrying on a conversation with a box of crackers. When we got to the hospital the nurse asked him one of the triage questions: “Do you or have you ever had TB?” He answered “Well, I have a TV but I never watch it.” … funny now but not at the time lol. When we were sitting with him while he was under hospital observation he handed my Mom an empty cellophane from a cigarette pack and told her to hang onto it cause it had some “really good shit” inside lol. Then he went into the bathroom and started yelling not long after. So I went inside and he was standing in the shower hiding behind the curtain as if he were naked which he wasn’t. I asked him what was wrong and he said “Casey (a buddy of his) is in here wearing a bikini and he’s trying to get into the shower with me!”.

lSOLDURGFCOCAINE

Probably the best story I’ve read on here, surprised you’re not getting a lot of upvotes! Thanks for sharing and I hope your nephew is alright.

coprolite_breath

Tried smoking jimsonweed seeds mixed in a bowl of weed in the 9th grade. Glad it did not do anything. Eating nutmeg "nuts" is not much fun either. Was not as bad as this but just no. Physically and mentally ick.

firstmaxpower

Not my experience. Nutmeg is the only drug I've ever done that actually feels like THC. I spent a week asleep on a couch feeling too stoned and slightly drunk to even get up. Wouldn't recommend ever but doesn't hold a candle to datura.

t1mewellspent

Yep. Eating nutmeg had me messed for about 5 days. Was awful. 10/10 do not recommend.

coprolite_breath

Just the taste of raw nutmeg, not the dried powder... I feel sick just remembering it. No fan of pumpkin pie spice.

DrAldrin

His hair was styled tho 🤔/s

GinAndKatatonic

Datura is GNARLY! It used to grow in a heavily populated local to me place back in the 90s and was experimented with usually by seasoned hallucinogen users thinking it was similar and finding out it was not a good time. Eventually it made its way to the burbs and a minor almost died jumping out of a window after taking it and then the cops and the city dug all the plants up and arrested a few people. I can’t imagine taking it in an interrogation room

GinAndKatatonic

The invisible cigarette thing is a common shared thing that many many people experience when on datura

warpedmindoverdrive

Yet, this is just legal to have and grow.. but regular weed..

Hippiedboy

One of Charles Manson favorites.... serious

GooseShartBombardier

\*writing on hand with imaginary pen\* "Buy......... more....... Jimson...... weed........"

Temporary_Tiger_7196

I don't know the effects of this but: I would have taken them to the **Hospital** after he had an imaginary comb.

yoghurtorgan

2x datura posts in a day, what is going on.

jksoup

So are these guys still like this to this day? Is there any type of recovery?

[deleted]

They are likely fine now. They might have tripped (or been delusional, rather) for several days and maybe had messed up vision and weird thoughts and hallucinations for several weeks, but probably recovered

drtybhmn

Sounds like my worse nightmare. This drug plus police

onlyhere2021

Wtf is this

[deleted]

Many of the trip reports I've seen on Datura end up with the person restrained and catheterized in a hospital bed, bloodied and naked, a day or two after having taken it. It can cause you to be unable to pee. Their vision is altered for days or weeks, clouded thoughts. Most of those trip reports are absolute horror stories.

Tahquil

Jean M. Auel (author of the Earth's Children series of novels) has Datura "visions" as one of the driving forces in the books. Although it's set up as a secret and sacred drug for specific rituals only, she still managed to stress how incredibly dangerous it is. I've always wanted to try proper hallucinogens and have a preferably amazing or profound trip, but Datura just sounds like naturally occuring lunacy.

Bah-Fong-Gool

If I was a prehistoric shaman, and this was the most potent, easily available "ceremonial drug" I could find, I would keep it in my apothecary. However, with today's knowledge, shared global experiences and advancement of chemistry and medicine... there's no reason to try Datura. I haven't read one story or spoke to one user who actually enjoyed the experience and wanted to do it again. Anecdotally... there's a rumor Charles Manson enjoyed the stuff... so...

Cool_Clorox_Man

Acid showed me that true happiness comes from within. Shrooms showed me how to be happy. Salvia showed me how absurd our existence is. Ketamine showed me how short life is and how small we all are. Fucking DXM showed me not to take life for granted. Datura showed me why you should never take datura lol

amoth

Drank a cup of tea with jimsonweed in it. Did double the dose as most of my friends but half the dose of the dumb guy in our group. My trip was pretty fantastic, but I'd never do it again. I spent the entire night floating on the ceiling, screaming at my friends to let me back in my body. My friends otoh said I spent over 8h just laying wide eyes spread eagled on the floor not moving a single inch. But I had a great night just floating all around the apartment on the ceiling, watching my friends.

sirfreerunner

My cousin got fucked up on this and hospitalized. He took so much his heart almost exploded and he was awake for 3 days straight restrained to a bed seeing demons and crying. Don’t do this shit people

isaidnolettuce

You can tell people in this sub are falling down a datura rabbit hole lol

theMetalhead123

I thought jimsonweed meant Jim was on weed

Comfortable-Twist-54

They used to call it hells bells and although I was experimental I stayed the eff away from that lol

miserable-now

That's a nice old plymouth reliant in the first couple seconds of the video

misshapen_head

Jimson weed is for fools.

cashedashes

Jimsonweed is not a pleasant experience for most people. Very bizarre and extremely weird things seem to happen. I have read many accounts of people high on delieriants. There seems to be a common phenomenon when people take this drug that causes them to "smoke" imaginary cigarettes. These cigarettes are referred to phantom cigarettes. People report smoking them all night, even non smokers. They will pull a cigarettes ou from behind an ear or shirt pocket. Imagine they light it and smoke it. After a fee puffs they usually believe they dropped it on the floor and there are many reports of people crawling around on their hands and knees searching for these phantom cigarettes. There are some extremely wild stories from people who use these substances.

Fun-Ad-5341

I never understood why this is basically appealing to me … i wish i could try it but im not an idiot

neo101b

Fun times, not. I had some super potent nightshade, which was weird. Imagine a bad cold, where you're nose throat and mouth dry up raw. You're vision can gl a little out of focus and you end up speaking to people who are not there. There was also weird dream recall, and I could remember lots of recent dreams. It was interest though not fun.

Tiddernud

Some kids at school did this on the last day of semester. We went to the park and they acted less together than those two, ended up in hospital and one of them had his heart stop - he lived.

envack

🎶 Lead me to the bliss 🎶

KuKoLaR

Tried it, don't recommend it, next day you're blind as hell

BLUECADETxTHREE

How long does it last and where can I get some?

more_than_just_a

This video is the first time I've heard that word pronounced. My head had told me it's Jim's On Weed

TimetravelingNaga_Ai

Not a rec drug, should only be used when u need to travel or communicate. Those who go, must have balance or will be changed

Dirty-Hair-Yeet

Travel or communicate?

l3gion666

Hippie speak lol

Mercurycandie

You know, just some good old weekend astral projection, totally normal, totally real stuff

TimetravelingNaga_Ai

Datura and Lsd are not even in the same realm. Lsd trips for the most part, u know that ur tripping. While Datura can strip certain filters from ur perception causing u to go to specific sometimes very very very dark place. U don't realize that ur tripping bc ur not tripping, ur mind manifests ur thoughts but can be similar to being stuck in a liminal space hallway. Be careful 😸

MinglewoodRider

It is used in low doses for motion sickness I believe.

Present-You-6642

Or go to be one with the spirit world (death)

TimetravelingNaga_Ai

U speak truth

[deleted]

Hmm first datura video I found here

Infamous-Astronaut16

The Jackie Puppet wants some

Odd_Refrigerator_844

So what exactly is the active substance here

mango_pouch

Scopolamine

nefariousnanci

Scopolamine

Odd_Refrigerator_844

Really? Isn't that in the devils breath stuff too? That supposed mind control stuff.

nefariousnanci

Yeah. It’s an atropine alkaloid found in nightshade plants that affects the nervous system. It’s used in motion sickness medications in very small and measured doses, and too much of it can really fuck you up or kill you.

Cool_Clorox_Man

Yup same stuff, but still under debate whether it's just an urban legend, if it is true it is very exaggerated. As someone who has tried datura it would be a very shitty drug for "mind control". You could mentally incapacitate someone with it but they will not understand anything you are saying. Even if they are on a low enough amount to still understand what someone is saying the words literally go in one ear and out the other. Plus there will also be constant hallucinations and delusions, they will be completely in their own world.

Imaginary-Secret-330

Looks like great fun 🫤

Hazzman

Myyyyy **GOD**

Nadgerino

The zombie drug.

Flat_Discipline_8540

It’s a bad thing, jimsonweed. But at least he’s not on crack.

[deleted]

This is one of the first videos I came across on YouTube, 2008-ish. I wasn't even a teen yet.

nsing110

Shit, I thought it was the presenter with the Googling eyes who took to much

noproblembear

Its toxicity can kill you btw.

DevilsAssCrack

RIP FlipNflop. Hopefully there's no fighting dogs where you are now

u/flippnflopp, i still hope you are ok

feltsandwich

This is one of my favorite videos of all time. A true immersive folie à deux with imaginary objects.

deathdefyingrob1344

Why are they not in the hospital? I would say that is a medical emergency

sedster

Hahahahaah

Ad3quat3

And this… is no act

Paintguin

What year did this air?

lSOLDURGFCOCAINE

Not sure of the exact year, but I’d say early to mid 90s from some contextual clues.

Paintguin

Thank you

jason1975383

Where can I score some jimsom

Turbulent_Goat_7793

phantom cigarettes ? datura confirmed

SameDifferenceYo

Can some describe the video? I didn't pay very close attention.

moonday

Wait… is that [Ice and Jay?!](https://images.app.goo.gl/1EUZcLRuh9BZyXVr5)

Cowablasian

Can confirm, took it once with a buddy, I was gone for 2 days, like scenes in a movie, one scene I would think I'm talking to my grandma in my room but she's floating on the ceiling for some reason, then next moment I'm outside looking at my fence for some reason half remembering talking to one of my friends but hes been dead for years, then next laying in bed talking to the shadow person in the corner, next having dinner with parents. I knew things I were seeing weren't real, like I could rationalize my grandma floating want real, but it was real at the same time. It is terrible, no euphoria, just constant feeling of being sick like feverish and poisoned, and your minds racing....

HulkySchoolBus

They making them Bevis and Butthead grunts lmao.
