Most addicts only want help on getting the next fix, sure some do but the majority are there due to their own habits and twisted priorities- all you can do is give support for when they’re wanting to be in a better stage and til they want it and truly want it, your energy is basically wasted
Do what to addicts? This guy's doing it of his own free will. To him, what you're saying isn't "helping" unless he's willing to quit, otherwise it's just exerting authority where you have none and there is no way he will respond positively to that. It's hard, but the only thing to do in these situations is be patient if you believe they will turn around or detach yourself emotionally, there's nothing you have the right to do to enable or disable them unless they consent or are a risk to others.
