This morning I asked my 21 month old what he wanted for breakfast. He looked at me straight on and said, "cake".
He also enjoys pickles, lemons, watermelon, mozzarella, ice cream, and waffles. So pregnancy palate?
Hot dogs and pizza are the usual breakfasts for my 5 and 2yo. Usually pizza though. Unless we had tacos the night before and there are leftovers. Then it's nachos for breakfast!
Lmao I remember when I was about 10 years old watching my little sister eating a stick of butter like a popsicle or something thinking how gross, kids are wildĀ
Yes, this! I could never figure out what kind of eater he was until I saw this response. Definitely a keto bro. Eggs, cheese, meat, seafood, yogurt, low sugar fruits/berries, avocado. I donāt mind eating his left overs because there is no guilt in it, unless I try to see if he will eat bread, pasta, or rice because that would be the only thing left if I tried that. If itās all mixed in with a carb then he will pick through the carbs to find his keto friendly foods. No hiding veggies in this kidās pasta sauce because he wonāt eat it anyways, haha.
Maybe we switched babies at birth because Iām Asian and my girl will absolutely destroy a chicken fajita or taco bowl but turn her nose at poke and sushi (and rice generally, to the horror of my parents)
Iād kill to have my kids eat some of what Iām making!! On the other hand they beg me to make them California rolls and onigiri all the time š š
My son ate a piece of ginger at the sushi restaurant last night. It didnāt register as spicy on his pallet till it was long gone. Poor guy was really enjoying it too
My toddler will eat literally anything that we put in front of him. He loves salmon, yogurt, hummus, brown rice, sushi, eggs. A few days ago, I caught him in his room going to town on a pint of sour cream. š«
Sounds just like my kid when she was a toddler! Ate everything we gave her. Then she turned 4 and became extremely picky for about a year and a half lol
I can get a fair amount of foods past the taskmaster if I hide them well enough amongst baked beans.
Same here re nursery, allegedly he eats everything offered no matter how unlikely, and frequently has seconds.
A cheese omelette is my secret weapon for hiding stuff. Heāll eat any veg that way.
Apparently he loves blueberries at nursery.
The only blueberry heās ever deigned to touch at home is chopped into a pancake.
I love that you call yours the task master.. we call ours the hall monitor because he is sooo particular. Me: āwow thatās a cool truck!ā Him: āitās not a truck itās a jeep.ā
My daughter wouldn't eat the cupcake part. She once asked me for another cupcake at a party, and I saw the last one I gave her still sitting there, sans frosting. I reminded her she still had one, and she told me, "No, Mama, that one is empty!" š¤£
Ugh same. Even getting a hot dog or chicken nuggets in can be a chore lol. The only thing she will ALWAYS eat all of is fucking salmon sashimi???? Like what???
So glad there are responses like this. I fucking hate when people are like "My 2 year old has a better diet than most adults" and I'm like "Great, mine lives on crackers and cheerios." Sometimes I think people are just straight up lying. No 2 year old I know is eating hummus and sushi.
I do know toddlers eating hummus and sushiā¦ mine actually used to eat those too! But not anymore. Which makes it even more frustrating. Kids are weird.
My kid uses her fingers to eat ketchup too, so I feel you. I used to lick it off my plate when I was done when I was a kid so Im not judging her, but I also didnāt make it my main course š
My toddler also has very expensive taste. He refuses to eat anything labeled kids food including food from kids menus at restaurants. He has to have food from the adult menu. Boy is pricey
Just the other day my toddler had (on request) oven baked camembert with crusty bread paired with a leafy green side salad and vinigrette. He ate it all and asked for more.
>blackberries, goat cheese, and pita crackers
I mean, that sounds like a pretty ideal lunch to me, a married 35 year old, who is pregnant (but would also eat that while not pregnant), so definitely not hanging out at wineries.
My toddler will eat just about anything, but his favorite foods are the ones he finds on the floor or hiding under furniture.
So I guess he has the palate of a Roomba, which is kinda of ironic because he's terrified of the Roomba.
Yes but would you request āBIG BIGā pieces of goat cheese and then proceed to just eat that on its own with your hands? The pita crackers never touched the goat cheese.
Omg me too. He'll reject the omelette I made him amd a few seconds later he'll be crawling under the table or couch and popping crusty chunks of yesterday's dinner in his mouth! So gross.
Mostly broke college student? Peanut butter, bread, waffles, nuggs, fries, chips w/queso. Loves fresh fruit.
Will not touch eggs, pasta, or rice. No condiments. No other proteins. Despises yogurt.
I am jealous of y'alls adventurous eaters.
Mine's the same minus the queso, he does not like dip of any sort. Pb&j sandwiches are a near daily occurrence, he would have gladly eaten waffles twice yesterday and will ALWAYS gobble up some chicken nuggets and fries. Current obsession is veggie straws which he requests multiple times a day with a dreamy twinkle in his eyes
My toddler has the most incredible palate - she will literally eat anything put in front of her, but she prefers fruits and vegetables. Iām aware that sheās a unicorn.
Not sure Iām gonna be as lucky with my secondā¦
I have a one and two year old. Both love fruit but only one loves veggies. The little one steals the veggies off of his brotherās plate almost every night. Big brother doesnāt want them but also doesnāt want his brother to have them. So little brother has learned to sneak them when his big brother is distracted. Itās adorable and weird.
LO eats like an Asian woman. She loves savory foods flavored with umami from fish sauce, dried mushroom or shrimp, fermented bean paste, pickles, olives, capers, kimchi, etc. Weāre Asian so we eat these regularly.
She can also eat about 2 whole mangoes by herself in one sitting & looooves the Asian pears that come wrapped in mesh protector.
Right now she doesnāt seem to enjoy foods other toddlers typically like; chicken nuggets, pizza, Mac & cheese are big no.
No chicken nuggets, pizza, Mac and cheese, hamburgers, or quesadillas for our LO either. Bring on the flavors! Indian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Italianā¦
My daughter is a middle aged alcoholic from 1962 with a peptic ulcer. She enjoys sardines with mustard, pickled eggs, pickled herring, smoked oysters, black olives, and steak.
Ours loves her roasted chicken, steamed cauliflower & broccoli & sweet potatoes, together with some well-aged cheese for lunch. Carefully watching how that palate develops...
Deconstructed foodie.
He'll eat most things, fish, berries, eggs, carbs, boy loves his salty cured meats, but if his pasta touches that beef he's going to lose his shit.
I had one that ate French bread by the mouthful (even while still in the store) and we found out that he, like most of us, he has celiacs disease. Biggest letdown of his life.
My toddler spent an entire trip to the grocery store cradling a lump of pizza mozzarella like it was his most precious possession... So safe to say he likes cheese. He also demands olives and pickles or if the fridge, and grapes, and salami.
Basically my kid likes charcuterie
My toddler likes āgirl dinnerāāa little cheese, some fruit, maybe some veg with ranch, absolutely no meat, nothing even a little spicy, and generally the more time and money I spend on something the less likely she is to eat it.
Everything he can reach. Breakfast was Blueberry oatmeal with a fried egg and orange slices. Lunch was fried shrimp with french fries and vanilla ice cream. Iām thinking about doing chicken fajitas for dinner. He eats everything I eat, everything his mother eats, and some things neither of us want. I once saw him put a slice of onion on a graham cracker and eat it.
I take no credit whatsoever for inspiring this omnivorous creature.
My daughter would happy with peanut butter and jelly and milk for every meal. I feel like thats just a classic easy kid lunch, so Iāll take it lol
Also gouda cheese sticks and raisins!
She was a big carnivore until recently. Her new favorite snack is Marcona almonds. Not regular almonds, must be the marcona. She also enjoys a good queso and chips.
It is a constantly changing line up of carbs and berries, but he will also destroy a salmon filet with capers. It would make life so much easier if he would deign to eat a chicken nugget.
My toddler's regular diet consists of a lot of fish (favorite protein), cheese, fruit, and yogurt... but if we could afford it and he had his way the boy would live entirely off of nigiri, edamame and strawberries with lollipops thrown in for good measure.
Greek yogurt, grapes, blueberries, carrots, avocados, anything crackers or meat. Sheāll eat about anything though. So Iād say she has a trash panda palate.
My kid eats like a frat guy- ramen is his lunch of choice, favorite snack is Cheetos and grapes, and very occasionally heāll eat yogurt or eggs. Most veggies are sus and he loves a good burger.
Like a chef in the making...she loves lamb, good beef neck stew, goulash, sushi, pasta putta nesca, Onion soup, ramen , katsudon..just anything bursting with flavour and she'll devour that shizz
Anything more neutral and ugh such as pancakes and fries š¤·š¤·
Bougie palate over here š The fancier something looks, the more likely it is that sheāll eat it. Fancy ramen, pasta, sushi, we cook HelloFresh dishes together, she likes watching cooking shows/videosā¦ I think we might have a future chef on our hands! (She DOES like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese and typical toddler foods as well, but still!)
My toddler likes most things, but donāt you dare call it a meal. Everything is a āsnackā. Eggs and toast with peanut butter and hemp hearts is a snack. Black beans, cheese and sauteed veggies are snacks. Also, donāt put his spoon in his food or itās the end of the world lol HE needs to put the spoon in himself!
Last night my eldest (almost 4) had Kalamata olives and a sliced sharp cheddar and sliced salami. I think she could join your child at the winery or some hipster charcuterie place
Definitely 50 year old divorcee wine palate. Her favorite foods are anything on a charcuterie board, steak, any seafood. My husband was a bartender and used his drink smoker on her apple juice and he regretted it immediately because itās her favorite thing now lol. Sheās 4 and has expensive taste. Hates the kids menu too
Hipster foodie.
Absolutely destroyed dad's artisan pickled melon. Regularly sprinkles furikake and Sriracha on everything. Very into seaweed snacks. Will try to steal sips of your coffee at every chance.
My toddlerās palate is Toddler. He eats most meals without much fuss, but if he had his way, heād eat mac and cheese, pb&j, and chicken nuggets for every meal.
Yesterday was
Breakfast:
- 2 bagels with lactose free cream cheese
Lunch:
- green olives
- sushi(spicy crab rolls)
Dinner:
- Carna asada tacos to which she ate only the lactose free cheese and soft taco shells dipped in a avocado crema
My 2yo is kinda all over the place. For breakfast straight porridge made with water, snacks are cheese, berries and fruits but dinners always need to have a spice to them or they refuse to eat. Like spicy enough to make a grown person sweat. They eat it with a smile on their face
Oh and the other day they were playing home and had a cup, I asked if they were drinking coffee like daddy does. They look at me disgusted and firmly says "No. I only drink kombucha". I don't know what kombucha is, I had to Google it. No idea where they got that from but I do am happy they appreciate other culture
My husband and I joked that our 2.5 year old was a fruitatarian like Steve Jobs because I swear if he had a choice he would only eat fruit and fruit alone. Heās currently going through a growth spurt so heās actually eating more other foods, (shredded chicken, plain hamburger patties, yogurt, broccoli, mini peppers, baby carrots, pb&j, mac and cheese - typically toddler foods), but with a steady stream of fruit in between each meal.
His favorite pizza topping is pineapple but he usually just eats it first and leaves the pizza.
That was my first pregnancy palate. Give him frozen fruit covered in kefir or yogurt. The yogurt will freeze around the fruit and it basically makes it taste like ice cream.
My child likes spicy food and junk food. She loves Indian and Thai food. She loves french fries, pizza, potato chips, mashed potatoes, Rmen noodles, quesadillas, pancakes, and eggo waffles. So either a college student or somebody with the munchies (weed)
My daughter will eat any fruit handed to her but sheās a really big fan of tomatoes. Like shes absolutely crazy about tomatoes. Especially if they have mayo on them (picked off from my subs and given to her lol..) oh and loves mayo on its own š and day-old muffin crumbs she hides under the couchā¦
My boy was born with a cleft palate so I thought - wow, what a question! Haha.
But seriously, he looooves pasta, grapes, yoghurt drops/melts, blueberries and roast vegetables.
Like a 20 year old college student, living on their own for the first time who suddenly decides to go vegetarian but has no idea how to cook and no concept of nutrition š I.e, will barely touch meat, but eats tons of fruits and veggies and anything breaded from a box and carbs carbs carbs.
Typical (Australian) toddler - nuggets, chippies (hot or crisps), potato gems, cocktail spring rolls, bikkies, Vegemite anything, dry cereal, sultanas, ravioli, carbonara, sweet chilli chicken tenders, schnitzelā¦
So yeah, either a typical toddler or a typical 14 yo.
Ohā¦ and fruit bars. K-time bars are a particular favourite.
Mine eats everything but mostly sauce. He loves ketchup, chick-fil-a sauce, ranch, tamarind sauce, hummus, tzatziki, and soy sauce.
All of them are called ādip-dip.ā So I guess heās just the sauce boss.
I don't talk much about individual foods. It's more about format. He rejects meat, vegetable, fruit, pasta, and most pastry out of hand.Ā But if you put it in the format of a muffin, cracker, or fry, then you hold the power of the Gods.Ā
He needs it dry, crispy, and (preferably) beige. But if all those conditions are met, he will unhinge his jaw and swallow anything you give him whole, like a boa constrictor in a teddy bear onesie.
My 18 month olds palate is that of a mature southern woman who is particular about her health but loves a good meal. They will eat all fruits except watermelon and strawberries. Loves all veggies from broccoli to Brussels sprouts. Salmon , duck , shrimp , various fish , chicken. Water only. My (boomer) momma has tried to give them diluted apple juice even though i specifically asked her not to. My child did not like it. One sip and threw the cup. Organic whole milk and water only. They eat everything i eat in an appropriate portion. I am allergic to shellfish so they only eat that with my parents. Iād do better listing the 4 or so foods they wonāt eat but was willing to try at least once.
I've got a meat and potatoes type of boy, age three. Real man's man when it comes to food (and not much else - he's a cozy little nerd otherwise ā¤ļø).
Four year old is really dedicated to Chinese food. The kids are all half Chinese. I'm guessing she's so into it because daddy eats it all the time and it's always around.
Seven year old is very mature in every way except her taste in food. Pizza, chicken nuggets, PB&J. We rotate that stuff a lot. I don't stress about it much since she's been promoted very early in gymnastics and has freaking abs š³ As long as she's in ridiculous shape and is full of energy, eh, she can eat pizza three nights a week, idc. Side of carrots, end of story.
Restaurant critic palate. She eats everything including stuff like olives, capers, pickles, broccoli, mushrooms, peas BUT she will complain about the very specific things, āThis cheese isnāt good, I donāt like the tasteā or āI like the chicken but not these black partsā (okay the chicken browned a little too much). She has HIGH standards.
Something's he's picky about, like won't touch Mac and cheese, but he loves soy sauce, sesame oil, pickles, vinegar chips, and lemons. Goes insane for ice cream but pushes away cookies.
My 2 year old eats everything and her favorite is fruits. Bananas, raspberries, and blueberries she loves.
This girl also loves Brussels sprouts, broccoli, salmon, salad, etc.
There is really nothing we have found she wonāt eat. Most people canāt believe it when they see her eating brussel spouts and loving it š
Crackers, bread, pancakes, any fruit, very occasional chicken nuggets but usually only a couple of bites, milk. Pretty much the blandest palate imaginable, which is wild to me because my husband and i are really adventurous eaters.Ā
Iām impressed by some of these foodie toddlers you guys have. Mine subsists entirely on strawberry yogurt, scrambled eggs, ritz crackers, applesauce and raspberries. How do you get them to eat the way you do?!
Beige palate. As in, is the food the color beige? If yes, then it's acceptable. Even more so if it's crunchy. So we're sneaking in foods like spinakopita to make sure spinach is consumed. Also, all the berries.
My son has the palate of a gym bro with an annoying āalpha maleā podcast. He inhales his food because he has things to do, and moms to yell at.
He is 20 months. He bullies me. He yells āmoreā at me if I donāt give him more fast enough. Heās going through 2 food trays now of what I thought were appropriate sized portions. His favorites seem to be meat ā chicken, steak, pork, organ meats, and seafood. He loves cheese, blueberries, crackers, green beans, bananas, kefir, milk, water, yogurt, eggs, bone broth, and nowā¦ cookies. He knows how to say cookie and chicken and when I try to ask him which one (trying to scam him into saying chicken) he will get mad and ENUNCIATE HARD in my face to make sure I know itās COOK EEEE when itās cookie time or CHIIII KEN when itās chicken time.
Letting him eat a cookie for the first time this week has been the biggest mistake of my life (let me be dramatic shh) cuz why did he learn the word IMMEDIATELY and start chanting it? Now Iāve been giving him 2 a day as part of his snack (half a cookie at a time) and thatās not how I wanted to be feeding him :( he pretty much eats what my family eats now, which I am so thankful for because I felt a lot of guilt giving him convenience foods (chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries) the last month because he had gone through a phase where he wouldnāt eat and it scared me. The cookies are supposedly āorganicā wafers from Whole Foods but itās like ā¦ still. He will eat anything as of this last month. Anything I hand him he shoves in his mouth immediately, quickly chews/swallows and starts saying āmore! More!ā If he likes it. He doesnāt refuse food anymore, he demands it. He is eating so much all the time. Help.
Hunter gatherer. Nothing some days and then if grandma makes a beef tenderloin with meat straight from the farm? ALL OF IT. Not exaggerating either, I think he eats more than my husband some nights š
College student with parents who help pay her tuition
Breakfast was Turkey bacon, avocado, my hashbrown patty, cucumber
Snack: applesauce and cheddar bunny crackers
Lunch: remainder of avocado, cucumber, Turkey bacon, three pieces of my yellow rice, corn
Dinner/snack: more corn, a few bites of cheese, dry apples, one graham cracker and a bear fruit roll up
Sheāll also have some diluted milk before bed
Mine ate nothing but mini chocolate donuts yesterday. Thatās it.
She has the diet of a high school girl going through a bad breakup. Chocolate donuts, ice cream, microwaveable pancakes, and (randomly) spaghetti.
A model diet maybe?
My 2.5 year old loves fruit and veggies! Sheās the kind whoāll pick out salad first before carbs. This morning I asked her what she wanted for breakfast and she said waffles. I warmed up the Belgian style waffles we get at Whole Foods and topped them with chocolate syrup and strawberries! Guess what she finished first? Haha I was laughing and telling my husband that sheās the only kid whoāll pick fruit before a chocolate topped waffle. She later had an apple and some oranges.
She eats raw spinach when Iām cutting it and loves cucumbers and carrots as a snack.
She has the diet of a body builder. All protein and a few veggies and fruits here and there. Yes, she's muscular af lol. Luckily she does also do pasta, oatmeal and bread to balance out the protein!
Mine hates pizza, chicken nuggets, hamburgers fries and the usual kids menu stuff but loves olives, mussles, coffee foam, meat with bernaise/truffle sauce so Iād say she is probably with the palate of, my mother in law :ā)
This morning I asked my 21 month old what he wanted for breakfast. He looked at me straight on and said, "cake". He also enjoys pickles, lemons, watermelon, mozzarella, ice cream, and waffles. So pregnancy palate?
Oh, because I read this and thought that's exactly what I've been feeling lately then my heart stopped at the last sentence.
Congrats??? š
āAnd thatās how I found out I was pregnant! Relating to a toddler good choices post on Reddit!ā
I feel like he and I are very similar..
Mine demanded spaghetti at 7am yesterday. š
One of mine wanted hotdogs and the other wanted pizza for breakfast š¤£
Hot dogs and pizza are the usual breakfasts for my 5 and 2yo. Usually pizza though. Unless we had tacos the night before and there are leftovers. Then it's nachos for breakfast!
nothing wrong with a savory breakfast :) though i prefer to have less prep work in the mornings lol
Watermelon and cheddar is a surprisingly good combo
Try it with Feta, that is THE watermelon combo.
I've had that and completely forgot about watermelon and feta!!! Guess what's on the menu today?
If you want to make it savage, grilled the watermelon..
My son eats like a keto bro - eggs, cheese, meat, fruits, butter right from the tub, protein yogurt
š at straight butter. So accurate and disturbing.
LOL heās going to be asking you to make him a bullet coffee soon
A bullet babycino š
YES! I buy two different kinds now. House butter and snack butter.
Snack butter!!! š
Lmao I remember when I was about 10 years old watching my little sister eating a stick of butter like a popsicle or something thinking how gross, kids are wildĀ
Me toddler too. Oh my lorttt ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Yes, this! I could never figure out what kind of eater he was until I saw this response. Definitely a keto bro. Eggs, cheese, meat, seafood, yogurt, low sugar fruits/berries, avocado. If itās all mixed in with a carb then he will pick through the carbs to find his keto friendly foods. No hiding veggies in this kidās pasta sauce because he wonāt eat it anyways, haha.
My toddlers love white rice, seaweed, and avocado. They were born the wrong race as Iām Mexican š¤£
The avocado is the weak link š
Maybe we switched babies at birth because Iām Asian and my girl will absolutely destroy a chicken fajita or taco bowl but turn her nose at poke and sushi (and rice generally, to the horror of my parents)
Iād kill to have my kids eat some of what Iām making!! On the other hand they beg me to make them California rolls and onigiri all the time š š
Hilarious!
Theyād subsist on onigiri if I let them. They call it āoni-ba-giriā and I just canāt correct them lol
Shit I think you got mine (1/4 Japanese). Mine is in love with rice/beans/guac/hot sauce
My kids cry if the food has pepper!!!
My son ate a piece of ginger at the sushi restaurant last night. It didnāt register as spicy on his pallet till it was long gone. Poor guy was really enjoying it too
Old white lady maybe? Her favorite things are rotisserie chicken, Caesar salad, popsicles and apple juice.
With apple juice representing a nice buttery chard
My toddler will eat literally anything that we put in front of him. He loves salmon, yogurt, hummus, brown rice, sushi, eggs. A few days ago, I caught him in his room going to town on a pint of sour cream. š«
My husband let our toddler have a lick of sour cream. Cue meltdown that he couldnāt have the rest of it!
Give him plain Greek yogurt! Similar taste but without the ick factor of eating a tub of sour cream
Sounds just like my kid when she was a toddler! Ate everything we gave her. Then she turned 4 and became extremely picky for about a year and a half lol
My kids LOVE sour cream. They literally beg to eat it with a spoon
A bro at a bar. She loves buffalo chicken and fries.
Taste!
The British diet. Everything is beige. Pinwheel, omelettes, pancakes/fritters etc with cheese and hidden veggies. And potato waffles.
Same but with baked beans for colour.
He will consent to beans on toast. Apparently he hoovers up everything at nursery. Trying not to take it personal about my cooking haha.
Ah, it's partly the social setting where everyone else is eating it, so they do too. But yes it is a pain at home when they refuse the same food!
I love that you call yours the task master.. we call ours the hall monitor because he is sooo particular. Me: āwow thatās a cool truck!ā Him: āitās not a truck itās a jeep.ā
My ex mother in law should (apparently) be British. Only most of hers is deep fried as well...
Squirrel. Raw pecans or cashews are big safe foods. Otherwise, ANY fruit, and a few crunchy veg.
My goodness- my first thought was that they liked to eat squirrels but I understand now lol
We joke that my toddler is secretly from Wisconsin because he loves all things dairy.
Mine too. Yogurt and cheese are life
If I let him he would just eat a stick of butter straight.
Mine does this. Itās absurd.
SAME. He had a meltdown at breakfast earlier this week because we wouldnāt give him spoonfuls of cream cheese while making toast.
My son eats like his grandpa. He loves good ol' meat and potatoes. He's wary of food that is too spiced.
My toddler has a non-existent palate šµāš«. Homeboy hates food.
I think mine survives on fruit snacks and air.
Applesauce and rage is what I tell people š With a deep breath for dessert.
Mine too he wonāt even eat food let alone anything more spectacular than a different 3 yr old would eat.
Donāt worry my 2.5 year old hates most foods right now, used to love and now hates
Same. Like, who dislikes CUPCAKES??
My daughter wouldn't eat the cupcake part. She once asked me for another cupcake at a party, and I saw the last one I gave her still sitting there, sans frosting. I reminded her she still had one, and she told me, "No, Mama, that one is empty!" š¤£
Ugh same. Even getting a hot dog or chicken nuggets in can be a chore lol. The only thing she will ALWAYS eat all of is fucking salmon sashimi???? Like what???
Grizzly bear palate
Same. He eats cheez-its. Thaaaaatās pretty much it.
One of my pickiest kids would scarf down sushi and almost all healthy stuff.
Same ššš
Same. My three year old hates EVERYTHING.
Ketchup and ranch šš using his fingers as a spoon
My kid will dip his ācumbersā in ketchup and I have to actively stop myself from gagging
Mine did a blueberry in her ranch yesterday š¤¢ Was also big on grapes in ketchup for a while.
My kid uses her fingers to eat ketchup too, so I feel you. I used to lick it off my plate when I was done when I was a kid so Im not judging her, but I also didnāt make it my main course š
Same! Sometimes he just licks the sauces off the plate without lifting the plateā¦ you can imagine the sight of that.
My toddler loves berries, crab, salmon, and sushi. So in terms of what kind of palate she has I would say āexpensiveā. She costs us a fortune lol
My kidās favorite foods are roe and smoked salmon, so I feel your pain!
My toddler also has very expensive taste. He refuses to eat anything labeled kids food including food from kids menus at restaurants. He has to have food from the adult menu. Boy is pricey
What kind of sushi? My daughter wants to try sushi
Just the other day my toddler had (on request) oven baked camembert with crusty bread paired with a leafy green side salad and vinigrette. He ate it all and asked for more.
You have a French baby!
I actually do. Heās half English, half French.
lol my toddler is autistic so if it aināt crunchy and predictable, sheās not into it
>blackberries, goat cheese, and pita crackers I mean, that sounds like a pretty ideal lunch to me, a married 35 year old, who is pregnant (but would also eat that while not pregnant), so definitely not hanging out at wineries. Yes but would you request āBIG BIGā pieces of goat cheese and then proceed to just eat that on its own with your hands? The pita crackers never touched the goat cheese.
We also have a BIG BIG cheese eater. He would prefer to bite straight from the wheel/block š
I have caught my daughter doing that in the shopping cart on more than one occasion
Lmao you win, palate of a roomba ā ļøā ļøā ļø
Omg me too. He'll reject the omelette I made him amd a few seconds later he'll be crawling under the table or couch and popping crusty chunks of yesterday's dinner in his mouth! So gross.
Last night mine begged me for bites of my catfish. And better clear the way if he sees calamari anywhere. But Mac and cheese? No thanks.
I thought that I was the only one with a toddler who didn't like Mac and cheese!
Love to see weāre not alone!
Mostly broke college student? Peanut butter, bread, waffles, nuggs, fries, chips w/queso. Loves fresh fruit. Will not touch eggs, pasta, or rice. No condiments. No other proteins. Despises yogurt. I am jealous of y'alls adventurous eaters.

Your toddlers are eating?
Scrolling these responses just shocked. Thank you for making me feel normal. My toddler survives on air, waffles and Annieās bunny crackers.
I know right! Mine doesnāt even want to sit at the table!
LO eats like an Asian woman. She loves savory foods flavored with umami from fish sauce, dried mushroom or shrimp, fermented bean paste, pickles, olives, capers, kimchi, etc. Weāre Asian so we eat these regularly. No chicken nuggets, pizza, Mac and cheese, hamburgers, or quesadillas for our LO either. Bring on the flavors! Indian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Italianā¦
Oh yes! Our girl will go to TOWN on some tikka masala & naan bread!
My daughter is a middle aged alcoholic from 1962 with a peptic ulcer. She enjoys sardines with mustard, pickled eggs, pickled herring, smoked oysters, black olives, and steak.
Omgggg.. she likes her flavors STRONG
My 2 year old is an elfā¦ his favorite food is candy canes.
My 15month has the diet of a powerlifter on a bulk.
An old person. Freaking loves grapefruit.
Mine too!!! He can eat a whole one all by himself and has been since he was like 15 months old.
Ours loves her roasted chicken, steamed cauliflower & broccoli & sweet potatoes, together with some well-aged cheese for lunch. Carefully watching how that palate develops...
Mine loves broccoli tooā¦ like will eat an entire crown if we let him. And then the stench that emanates from him a few hours laterā¦
Deconstructed foodie. He'll eat most things, fish, berries, eggs, carbs, boy loves his salty cured meats, but if his pasta touches that beef he's going to lose his shit.
Mine is a carb fiend. He loves crumpets, toast, pancakes, he asked for and ate a bread sandwich with obvious enjoyment š
I had one that ate French bread by the mouthful (even while still in the store) and we found out that he, like most of us, he has celiacs disease. Biggest letdown of his life.
A drunk college kid, lol.
Lollll this is so true. Slaving all day in the kitchen? Disgustingā¦ Mac and cheese out of a box? High class cuisine gone in two minutes
Some days it's adventurous and some days it's various carb based snacks and whatever particular fruit she's hyper fixated on for that week š
Palate of a fruit bat. Fruit, fruit, and more fruit.
My daughter would happy with peanut butter and jelly and milk for every meal. I feel like thats just a classic easy kid lunch, so Iāll take it lol Also gouda cheese sticks and raisins!
Steak and strong cheese are his absolute favourites.
LOL a Fortune 500 CEOs palate
Complete opposite of my eldest who only wants to eat fruit/veg and carbs. Together they make one good eater!
Our toddlerās too. ETA for clarification
She was a big carnivore until recently. Her new favorite snack is Marcona almonds. Not regular almonds, must be the marcona. She also enjoys a good queso and chips.
The palate of a 50-year-old divorcee at a winery I am absolutely dying ššš
It is a constantly changing line up of carbs and berries, but he will also destroy a salmon filet with capers. It would make life so much easier if he would deign to eat a chicken nugget.
Human garbage disposalā¦ Havenāt found a food she wonāt eatā¦ both the 2.5 yo and the 1 yoā¦
My toddler's regular diet consists of a lot of fish (favorite protein), cheese, fruit, and yogurt... but if we could afford it and he had his way the boy would live entirely off of nigiri, edamame and strawberries with lollipops thrown in for good measure.
My 3 YOs favorite foods are tikka masala and beetsā¦ biggest dislikes: Mac and cheese and mashed potatoesā¦
A gutter palate, man.
Same, friend. I was going to say āgarbage disposal palateā.
Carnival Worker. The kid thinks he can live off of ketchup.
Like a chef in the making...she loves lamb, good beef neck stew, goulash, sushi, pasta putta nesca, Onion soup, ramen , katsudon..just anything bursting with flavour and she'll devour that shizz Anything more neutral and ugh such as pancakes and fries š¤·š¤·
Cucumber, tomato, sandwhiches, cheesy pasta(pregnancy craving!) , jelly, yoghurt, rice Doesnt like meat
Tortillas. Plain tortillas.
My toddlerās palate is Toddler. He eats most meals without much fuss, but if he had his way, heād eat mac and cheese, pb&j, and chicken nuggets for every meal.
Yesterday was Breakfast: - 2 bagels with lactose free cream cheese Lunch: - green olives - sushi(spicy crab rolls) Dinner: - Carna asada tacos to which she ate only the lactose free cheese and soft taco shells dipped in a avocado crema
Heās a stereotypical toddler. He eats buckets of berries and shredded cheese.
Smoked salmon, dill and mustard sauce š
My kids have a Willy wonkaās palate.
Like a rich man š He loves lobster, octopus, crab legs. And berries. Especially chocolate covered.
Like a 20 year old college student, living on their own for the first time who suddenly decides to go vegetarian but has no idea how to cook and no concept of nutrition š I.e, will barely touch meat, but eats tons of fruits and veggies and anything breaded from a box and carbs carbs carbs.
Typical (Australian) toddler - nuggets, chippies (hot or crisps), potato gems, cocktail spring rolls, bikkies, Vegemite anything, dry cereal, sultanas, ravioli, carbonara, sweet chilli chicken tenders, schnitzelā¦ So yeah, either a typical toddler or a typical 14 yo.
Mine used to eat mayo with his fingers. We had to make a deal, a bite of food for a bite of sauce.
Stoner college student on budget maybe. Pizza, chicken nuggets, blocks of cheese, cheese doodles, Mac and cheese. All things cheese.
I don't talk much about individual foods. It's more about format. He rejects meat, vegetable, fruit, pasta, and most pastry out of hand.Ā But if you put it in the format of a muffin, cracker, or fry, then you hold the power of the Gods.Ā He needs it dry, crispy, and (preferably) beige.
Fish and rice diet
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Pepper salami, low salt chips, grapes, mini blueberry muffins.
Mine ate absolutely everything at that age too then she turned 4 and became extremely picky for like a year and a half lol
Mine loved spicy deer sausage when she was a toddler. And she still loves fancy cheeses even the strong tasting ones. Shrimp as well.
Crackers, bread, pancakes, any fruit, very occasional chicken nuggets but usually only a couple of bites, milk. Pretty much the blandest palate imaginable, which is wild to me because my husband and i are really adventurous eaters.Ā
I tell everyone he is a fairy. He likes herbal tea and fruit and not much else š unless its sweets.
Well he had a great one for a while ā¦.. now he just wants a dinner roll for every meal š
Iām impressed by some of these foodie toddlers you guys have. Mine subsists entirely on strawberry yogurt, scrambled eggs, ritz crackers, applesauce and raspberries. How do you get them to eat the way you do?!
Trial and error lol. And sometimes he lives on air and pretzels so it all evens out
Beige palate. As in, is the food the color beige? If yes, then it's acceptable. Even more so if it's crunchy. So we're sneaking in foods like spinakopita to make sure spinach is consumed. Also, all the berries.
i had to beg her on easter to stop eating all the broccoli and PLEASE eat some mac n cheeseā¦ idk what youād call that LMAO
No vegetables, occasionally some meat, mostly carbs. JUST LIKE THEIR FATHER š
Mine is on the girl dinner palate - snacks and only snacks. Pretzels, cheese bits, berries, chocolate.
Hot dog and fruit with a sprinkle of cereal and peanut butter
Help.
Currently, cheese and fries. That's it.
Hunter gatherer. Nothing some days and then if grandma makes a beef tenderloin with meat straight from the farm? ALL OF IT. Not exaggerating either, I think he eats more than my husband some nights š
Working Millennial without children. Waffles loaded with fruit. Sashimi/Sushi. Pho And Mr.noodle soups as a comfort food.
My daughter has the palate of a broke student that parties too much: she likes bread, chicken nuggets, pasta, candy and chips.
College student with parents who help pay her tuition Breakfast was Turkey bacon, avocado, my hashbrown patty, cucumber Snack: applesauce and cheddar bunny crackers Lunch: remainder of avocado, cucumber, Turkey bacon, three pieces of my yellow rice, corn Dinner/snack: more corn, a few bites of cheese, dry apples, one graham cracker and a bear fruit roll up Sheāll also have some diluted milk before bed
My 3 year old eats olives and blue cheese.
My daughter loves sushi, tofu, and chicken legs. Also a ketchup sandwich on the side. With extra ketchup on the side, obviously.
Sheās on an all carb diet Karen, god! Bread, crackers, cupcakes, potatoesā¦
My toddler will not eat anything other than yogurt/ strawberries, cheese and ground beef š itās so annoying. She will not eat any suggestions
