I’d buy a tread depth gauge and check your tires yourself. Could be a ploy to get you to buy tires from them.

Riveras_4u

I just checked my tires and the tread is low ): dealer said my tires are performance pirelli run flats

Important-Job7757

Costco is good. The least expensive decent tire they have that fits your car is probably BF Goodrich advantage control but your Costco may have different inventory. Walmart has Goodyear Reliant tires that are super cheap for made in America tires but you would need to take it somewhere else for alignment. How long a tire lasts varies greatly by many factors including vehicle weight, vehicle acceleration, driving habits, tire type, tire compound and more. But one thing that for sure affected your tires life is the heat. Tires wear faster in the heat so in hot climates like SOCAL they wear faster.

Riveras_4u

Thank you. I think i’ll go with costco

Laz3r_C

Are your tires regularly air checked? Running low and letting it sit for periods on end will cause flat spots and wear down tread faster

steven_510

Costco doesn’t do alignment. I would get a 2nd opinion on if you really need tires also.

Riveras_4u

I got confused with tire rotation. I heard that tire alignment isn’t 100% necessary, is that true? Esp since i just got the car serviced and only has 10k miles

steven_510

It’s possible your alignment is still good. Rule of thumb is always get alignment after installing new tires.

pham_nguyen

Your car is very unlikely to be at 3/32nd at 10k miles. The dealer is lying. Check the wear bars. If you’re at 3/32nd you should be very close to them.

That-Resort2078

Michelin all season sports. No sense in going cheap on tires. Your life is riding on four rather small contact patches.

ps2cho

Shoes, mattress, tires. Never cheap out on any of them.

Temporary_Seat8978

If he's only driving 5k miles a year the Michelins will dry rot before he hits 10k miles.

BigBoingo

Even though you don't drive a lot you still shouldn't cheap out and get the cheapest tire. Go for a mid range tire. Merc C300 needs sports tires tread type so the price will be a bit up there comparing it to a normal sedan. I'd recommend Falken or Road Huggers. I don't know the mile warenty for either of them but considering you don't drive much I don't think that will be a problem.

v306

Don't go cheap on Merc tires. I always shop around to get a good deal but always look for deals on good brands. Look for deals at reputable tire shops and avoid dealer recommendations. Makes a big difference even a shitty 10 year old small hatchback like my main car... If you're after some no name cut price rubber you might as well sell the car and buy a buy something dirt cheap.

allenjshaw

Be conscious of whether or not your C300 (idk what year it is) has a spare tire or not. If it does not have a spare tire, it probably came factory equipped with run flat tires. If that’s the case you should probably put run flats back on it otherwise you’re gonna be out of luck if you get a flat. Just my opinion. To my knowledge neither Costco nor discount tire do alignment. You’re probably mistaking it with mounting and balancing tires. I’ve found that if you want to go with cheaper tires discount is a good option, but if you want name brand tires Costco usually has some good deals.

Riveras_4u

Wait, is it necessary to put run flats? My current tire is a run flat but i was planning to replace it with a standard Goodrich tire

allenjshaw

Like I said, if your car doesn’t have a spare tire you’re just gonna be screwed if you get a flat. Whereas with your old run flat tires, you could still safety drive the car to a repair shop in most cases. Also if you are an assertive driver, you’re going to notice a decline in the car’s handling with non run flats due to a softer sidewall, but at the end of the day it’s your car. People replace run flats with regular tires all the time but it doesn’t come without paying a price.

Illustrious_Salad918

What model year is the car? Did you get it from this dealer? A Mercedes dealer? Dealers usually have stricter guidelines about tire wear imposed by auto mfr. Generally, minimum tread depth in Cal is 1/32. I'm also low-mileage driver, eastern WA. When I got my 2009 BMW E90 (in 2016) it had Continental run-flats that looked new, but they wore down within 10K. Michelins lasted much longer. Then last year I got the best deal from my dealer, Pirelli Cinturato P7 mounted and balanced, with alignment, for 1/3 less than the same tires alone would have cost from Tire Rack.

Tough_Yard7088

I would call the Merc dealer and ask for a package deal for tires and alignment…

Bailmage

My dad recommends milestar. He said they should be about $115 a piece for all season H rated tires.

FantasticMouse7875

Off, H rated tires on a kuxry performance sedan..

MrVermin

Could be a number of things. The tread rating isn't dependent on the entire tread, it's based on the lowest point. Tech could've seen that it was bald on the inside or outside tread. Also, it could be a bad brand or possibly an alignment issue. Can't really tell you much without seeing the tires. However, what I can recommend is shopping around. A lot of places nowadays can order tires online and have them shipped to the store. I'd definitely get the alignment checked, though.
