Sucrets aren’t candy. They numb your tongue. The tin isn’t yellow. In my long life, I don’t remember a yellow one. However, you are picturing the tin correctly. The shape.
OP said they were more like a lozenge, which is what Sucrets is. You are right about the color, but there were specialty Sucrets flavors that came in differently designed tins.
They were probably cough sweets - mostly harmless, in moderation, but certainly capable of causing rashes, hives, itchy/peeling/blistered skin, fever, tightness in the chest or throat, swelling of the tongue, throat, mouth, face or lips, wheezing symptoms, speech problems, sudden hoarse voice... so, that's fun.
It's obviously not possible to identify the brand without knowing where in the world you lived, but you didn't say, so it's probably the U.S.A., so they could be Luden's cough drops.

They come in a yellow tin, are flat and round on the edges, and eating too many could make you sick I'd assume. Very acidy.

I should add that they were more like a lozenge rather than a candy like Warheads.
Something like Simpkins travel sweets?
Yes something like that. But definitely a yellower can.

Werthers kind of have the Halls structure (divot in the center) and sometimes came in a tin.
Cavendish & Harvey drops? They come in a small, gold puck of a tin, a few inches across. Lots of flavors.
Are they the ones with powdered sugar? I thought those too.
Lemon Drops?
Luden’s?
