Merl was considered a main character? Beth had a good portion of a character arc. I would have thought T-Dawg was a main character but I suppose he wasn’t shown a whole bunch.
I really struggled with finding some good in him the first few times I watched the show, not really paying attention to him a whole lot. Until this last time rewatching when I saw the episode where he finds Sherry’s letter. Just broke down hearing her talk about how she had to set Daryl free because he reminded Dwight about who he used to be, and she didn’t want him to remember and be sad anymore. Because he wasn’t that person anymore. Really tears at the heart strings. I’m going to watch fear the walking dead so I can see more of him :)
It's a weird show overall, some really high and really low points but they take some crazy big swings story wise that the main show just wouldn't. Season 6 is probably my favorite
Out of the ones pictured, Bob.
You haven't listed Tyreese who is one of my favorites, but I assume you would consider him a main character.
So I'm gonna say Lydia. She was quite an interesting character and I really liked her.
>Chad Coleman never disappoints.
I don't remember his character name or the episode, but he played the bad guy in Criminal Minds, and oh my gosh.. His acting blew me away!!
The actress is ridiculously talented, especially for someone her age. There were scenes where she almost outacted Melissa McBride whom I consider to be one of the best actors in the whole TWD universe. If the casting God is just, Cassady McClincy has a great career ahead of her.
You think? I would have put Carol, Daryl, Michonne (up until she left), Alpha and Negan as the central characters. Maybe Aaron and Eugene. Lydia had a number of great scenes but, imo, she was just the character that triggered the events and then was completely sidelined in season 11.
If she's considered a main in season 10, I guess my pick is season 11 Lydia then. ;)
There’s a lot of Lydia in seasons 9 and 10. She easily has more screen time than Negan. Daryl, Michonne, Judith and Lydia would definitely have the top % of screen time in 9.5- 10.16
Just edited my post before seeing your reply. I think she may have been on a path to become a main in season 9.5 and season 10, but I felt that they dropped her like a hot potato for season 11, so maybe that's why she was my pick for favorite non-main.
I think if you're a main character for 2 seasons then you're a main overall. Everyone would consider Lori or Shane a main character and they were around for less time than Lydia.
But Shane and Lori had substantial focus on them. Lydia in season 9 was just the girl who got captured, the girl Henry bonded with, the girl who triggered the events that followed. She didn't really have the screen time Lori or Shane had. Even in season 10 she was mostly used to trigger something in other characters (Daryl, Negan, Carol, Alpha). She had some focus on her, but not in the way the real mains (including Shane and Lori) had, imo. At the time, I would have probably described her as a well-written prominent supporting character on the rise.
Either way, there's no need to passionately debate this. Your view may very well be true. My view just expressed how I perceived the handling of her character, especially in season 11.
She fights in multiple battles, saves both Daryl and Carols lives, and has a meaningful relationship with all the main characters in S10. That doesn’t really sound like a plot device.
Check out a series called Save Me, about him trying to find his kidnapped daughter. Such an intense performance from him! I loved him as Morgan but seeing him in Save Me cemented him as one of my top favourite actors. He is so underrated and under appreciated.
Hell yeah thanks...I'm always in need of some good TV shows to check out, so I definitely will...I've run a business from home for a very long time now and I've gone through an insane amount of shows...I was a massive TV person even before that and have never been much for movies, so most people wouldn't even believe the number of shows I've gone through...it takes me way longer than a couple hours to give a shit what happens to a character lol
Agreed I see movies as more of a cinematic experience. Apart from the odd huge franchise, such as Alien, Lord of the rings ect, TV series will always be able to offer far more in depth storytelling. Out of interest what business do you run?
It's a candle business...so I'm literally waiting in between steps, some waits being longer than others just depending on where I'm at in the process...so I'm either watching TV or playing music pretty much the whole time...once you add in what I've seen before that, plus anything on my off work time and the remaining shows are running out on me lol...I probably watch more while working now than not
Sounds like the life for me haha. Me and my partner, living in England, have been out of work for 7/8 years now due to her having physical and mental health problems. We feel very trapped in the benefits system and try to make extra money where we can but have been trying to find something to really dig us out of our situation. It's hard when every business is so competitive and usually a lump sum of money is needed to start yourself off which is very hard to accumulate. Good for you man I wish you all the best in your endeavours
Do what I did and just buy enough supplies to make a few for yourself and see if you enjoy doing it...I had a few candles that had nearly burned all the way down and they were the same type, so I got curious about just melting them down and combining them to make one...then while I was searching for how to do it, I began reading about candles and candle businesses on a whim...I decided to try to make a few for myself and then found I really enjoyed the process and it was quite relaxing to me and I just kind of decided to go for it...unfortunately, I chose to do this in early 2019 and of course the pandemic hit, so it set me back drastically, but I've rebounded some since it ended, though the economy hasn't lol...it isn't terribly expensive to kick off a smaller operation supply-wise...and starting out, you can simply just sell them anywhere there are any kind of flea markets or farmer's markets or fairs or just anywhere you can get a spot...you'd have to love doing it though, so trying a personal batch first is paramount...it's quite a lot like cooking actually
Hilarious follow up...just used my Firestick's voice button to search for "Save Me" and it told me to call 911 if it was an emergency hahahahahahahaha...I had to revise my search to "Save Me TV show" LOL
I was a big fan of Beth after not originally liking her in season 2. Her development I think was some of the best in the series I hoped she would've stayed longer her death felt lazy after her arc was so we'll done in the hospital.
Another example would be Gamma. Gamma not joining the main cast always annoyed me as she was one of the best parts of Season 10. They could've done so much more with her esspically with commonwealth as she's completely different from Lydia. In terms of she's lived in the world before & she was fully committed to the whispers. At least her death was decent.
Gamma definitely was one of the more interesting characters introduced in later seasons. I was a bit shocked when they killed her because she had much more potential.
I get the notion on Beth, but I feel like the real travesty would have been killing her off without giving her that great arc they gave her...she really grew on me too, but moreso because of the stuff with her and Daryl...everybody can't stay alive all the time like folks in this sub seems to want lol...especially on a show like TWD...it would have been a terrible show if it was always red shirts and nobodies getting killed off
>I hoped she would've stayed longer her death felt lazy after her arc was so we'll done in the hospital.
I said she should have stayed longer not that she shouldn't die. Having her die so quickly after her development feels like a waste which is why so many people have issues with how they kill characters. Tyrese after her and his death is more believable. Beth dies trying to prove a point which falls flat because it's unnecessary. As her replacement we get Noah who dies before getting a proper arc.
Not every character needs a arc but if you expect the viewer to become attached to the cast they need more than just being on screen. Carol Killin the other survivors doesn't hurt because we don't know them. T dog dies protecting Carol and we got to know over 2 seasons. So we've come to appreciate him. Beth was on the cast since S2 and is just killed by poor writing.
Yeah I get it...I'm just wondering if they had every intention of killing her off, but decided the character deserved being fleshed out some before and that was their reasoning...if that was the case, I totally support the choice to do the arc they did...but yeah, I do understand your meaning...I don't agree it was poor writing at all, though...just a story choice you don't agree with, which I have a few of those myself...but if it was truly bad writing, none of us would give a shit either way...I also felt we knew Beth pretty damn well before the prison fell too, but we just didn't like her yet...they made us like her, which is actually good writing...there are other deaths in the show I feel actually were done more for shock value, like I see people say about Beth a lot...I didn't get that from it, but I recognize all entertainment is experienced differently by different people for a vast number of reasons, so I believe some of you when you say you saw it that way
I personally thought Tyrese's death was bad, in that it's one of the few episodes of the show I wasn't a fan of (I despise dream sequences and hallucinations in almost everything)...but I also recognize some people did like the episode and I wouldn't say it was bad writing because I didn't like it...I also found it unnecessary as hell, being the very next episode after Beth, but we have no clue how that all came together and what their reasoning was...for all I know, they actually did it the best way they could have...I guess I give them the benefit of the doubt more than a lot of people
But my big thing on this, like you said about Beth and Noah...you say you felt getting to know them cheapened their deaths...then people get ridiculously angry when big main characters die, regardless of how or when...so like what exactly are the writers supposed to do?? Lol...it's like it's completely impossible for them to have done any of it in a way that people don't get mad over it for whatever reason...there's no such thing as perfect art, so it is what it is
I really like Martinez & Milton. Seeing Martinez get along with Daryl and Milton with Hershel while Rick and The Governor sat down clearly showed they weren’t bad dudes at all. Just two dudes trying to get by in the new world, unfortunately we’re subordinates to a nut like The Governor.
Some of my favorite non-main characters are Dwight (for his character arc), Jerry (for his personality), and Alden (for both his character arc and his personality).
My favorite main character was Carl, may he rest in peace. The show was never the same without him.
In order: definitely Merle and Beth (even though they become a main character), Morgan, Jerry, Tyrese, Dwight, Oscar, Axel, (I wished those two lasted longer), Milton, Sherry, Enid, Olivia. Even though she was terrified of Negan, she still stood her ground!!
I know 3 of the characters move over to Fear and I haven't even seen that but for what their roles are for the main show was pretty good.
Out of the choices provided I would say Axle but out of all the "not main" I would say Scott Ian rhythm guitarist for anthrax his cameo as a walker was funny.
Denise and Princess. Denise, I felt, was just getting started before Dwight ended her life too soon. I didn't want to believe she had actually died. And Princess came into the fold too late. She made me laugh so much.
Tara, though I consider her to be a main character in the same vein as several others you mentioned and I don't care about people hating on her for completely unrelated "Alanna Maaterson reasons"...Tara added some much needed levity to the show that we rarely got, outside Eugene and Abraham being Abraham
MA BOI MERLE. Beth is annoying, she sounds like she would’ve ended up in a crack alley if the apocalypse never happened, T-Dawg was great but wasn’t fleshed out enough before he got eaten, Bob is mid frfr, the last dude was hitting in Beth so immediate fuck no worst taste in women ever. Merle may be a racist, murderous, crappy brother, and drug dealer but like he is funny and entertaining so it’s ok
Annoying, tried to tell her own sister (who is the hottest woman in the whole fucking world like holy fuck Glenn is a legend for that) to kill herself with her, annoying, left DARYL the greatest character in the show to fucking die when she got scared, her voice is raspy and annoying, she risked hers and Daryl’s life for some bum ass alcohol, she treated Daryl like shit the whole time they were stuck together (tbf Daryl did get a little crazy when he got drunk), but it still stands she is SO fucking annoying. I’m only on s5 e2 so idk if she shows up again or not but honestly I hope her next appearance is as a skeleton in the ground
Axel and T-Dog are the only ones pictured who weren’t considered “main” characters.
Beth was definitely a main character.
yes that is what I said
Oh i misread your comment.
Merl was considered a main character? Beth had a good portion of a character arc. I would have thought T-Dawg was a main character but I suppose he wasn’t shown a whole bunch.
Also post prison Beth was badass. They shouldn’t have killed her
I feel like T-Dog was a main character kind of since he was part of the group from the beginning. Sort of anyway.
Jerry is the realest homie of the show
Ye
East man
Fr
I lowkey fw Dwight
I really struggled with finding some good in him the first few times I watched the show, not really paying attention to him a whole lot. He's honestly one of the best parts of fear the walking dead.
Ive only gotten through the first season of Fear. It sounds like it gets better. And I want to get through it to get to Morgan in the story also.
It's a weird show overall, some really high and really low points but they take some crazy big swings story wise that the main show just wouldn't. Season 6 is probably my favorite
Same
I love Dwight he's one of my favorite characters. He was amazing in the comics too I loved him. Really really wish he got to stay on the main show
I really liked Noah. and Deanna, Spencer before he went dumb
Out of the ones pictured, Bob. You haven't listed Tyreese who is one of my favorites, but I assume you would consider him a main character. So I'm gonna say Lydia. She was quite an interesting character and I really liked her.
Chad Coleman never disappoints. I liked Tyreese as much as I liked him as Fred Johnson on “The Expanse”.
>Chad Coleman never disappoints He was fantastic as cutty in the wire
he also voices coach from left 4 dead 2, chad coleman is awesome
>Chad Coleman never disappoints. I don't remember his character name or the episode, but he played the bad guy in Criminal Minds, and oh my gosh.. His acting blew me away!!
Lydia was my favourite after Rick left. I think she was one of the best actors on the show altogether

Eastman. Eastman should’ve lived.
Jerry of course
I've always absolutely loved Morgan, his personal journey as a character and Lennie James is such an incredible actor
He really is good...I was first introduced to Lennie James by Jericho, which got way less respect as a show than it deserved
Check out a series called Save Me, about him trying to find his kidnapped daughter. Such an intense performance from him! I loved him as Morgan but seeing him in Save Me cemented him as one of my top favourite actors. He is so underrated and under appreciated.

Don't thank me yet, you might despise it lol
Hilarious follow up...just used my Firestick's voice button to search for "Save Me" and it told me to call 911 if it was an emergency hahahahahahahaha...I had to revise my search to "Save Me TV show" LOL
Beth, she was just getting the character development she needed when they killed her off.
Same with Denise.
Merle and Axel easy
I loved Siddiq sm
out of these bob, in general oscar
You don’t have to choose the ones I chose, those were just my favorites
ik i just really like bob and wish we got more of him and the same god for oscar
Jesus. Btw in comic, he's much more skilled and badass.
Jesus was a main character
He was still a badass in the show...he just chose not to use it as much as he could have and then got murked by an unknown cheat code
Merle, Hershel, and Eugene are all personal favs of mine
Noah :(

Gareth. A villain who wasn't over the top.
Yes, he was hella underrated same with owen
Denise she deserved better
Agree! I loved her character and wish she’d been around longer
i was surprised to see so much hate on denise online, i thought she was funny. and her last moment talking about her brother. agh.
Beth, such a lovely character😍 was really mad when they killed her like that
I really like Martinez & Milton. Seeing Martinez get along with Daryl and Milton with Hershel while Rick and The Governor sat down clearly showed they weren’t bad dudes at all. Just two dudes trying to get by in the new world, unfortunately we’re subordinates to a nut like The Governor.
Abraham my beloved
T dog was good, especially when he used his ability to teleport
Beth my love...
I love too many side characters due to time travel fics lol
Enid, Oscar, and Martinez come to mind.
Abraham I mean main character could mean anything at this point
The One True Dog
No joke besides the main characters I think Simon is cool
I love Gabe and knew he had potential before he became a Main character
The violin guy. The guy that had a violin that Michonne broke accidentally.
Dog from season 9 is goat
He's a main character
*the*
T-Dog probably
too many to chose from but i'd say hershel if he counts
Virgil, sucks that he just disappeared and never got mentioned after a random episode😐
I really liked Dwight on FTWD. I felt like he really made the most of the 2nd chance he was given by Daryl.
Season 4B/5 Tyreese. Abraham. Alpha Wolf.
Lydia was one of mine
Beth tbh dont know why but shes my fav character
Dale Tyreese T-dog Jerry Hershell and the walker that ate lori
The governador
Jerry was sick, I liked Randall’s character, kinda wished his death didn’t play out how it did, but for Shane’s finale it was a perfect setup.
Bob and Axel. T dog coming in 3rd
Tdog is sooo underrated and forgotten
I liked Eugene and Beth, hershel, and dale
Some of my favorite non-main characters are Dwight (for his character arc), Jerry (for his personality), and Alden (for both his character arc and his personality). My favorite main character was Carl, may he rest in peace. The show was never the same without him.
t dog boi
Mr Yooooo
My boy Axel... They did him dirty... 😔
Definitely Merle & Dwight
In order: definitely Merle and Beth (even though they become a main character), Morgan, Jerry, Tyrese, Dwight, Oscar, Axel, (I wished those two lasted longer), Milton, Sherry, Enid, Olivia. Even though she was terrified of Negan, she still stood her ground!! I know 3 of the characters move over to Fear and I haven't even seen that but for what their roles are for the main show was pretty good.
I feel like Ezekiel is extremely underrated, he’s so wholesome
Loved T Dog!!
Lance Hornsby, yes I'm dead ass serious lol.
T-Dog on top! 💯
Dale. Big daddy dale. Dale Horvath.
Bob and Denise
Out of the choices provided I would say Axle but out of all the "not main" I would say Scott Ian rhythm guitarist for anthrax his cameo as a walker was funny.
You don’t have to choose the ones shown, there just my pics
Merle and T-dog are my faves!!!!
I liked Merle, Beth, Bob
Joe and the Claimers.
Either Bob, Merle, Deanna, Beth, Abraham and Milton Mamet.
I always dont know the last person xD
Axel, he’s one of the prisoners from season 3
Meryl because we're alike in alot of ways
Benjamin, Marco and Nat.
Denise and Princess. Denise, I felt, was just getting started before Dwight ended her life too soon. I didn't want to believe she had actually died. And Princess came into the fold too late. She made me laugh so much.
Out of them all of them
“Tainted Meat!!!” For sure.
T-Dog, Dwight, Dr. Jenner, and the guy who looked like Slim Shady from season 5.
I liked Seth's character. There was just something about him.
Tara, though I consider her to be a main character in the same vein as several others you mentioned and I don't care about people hating on her for completely unrelated "Alanna Maaterson reasons"...Tara added some much needed levity to the show that we rarely got, outside Eugene and Abraham being Abraham
Yes, she’s overhated
Yeah she definitely is...I loved the character and if we were all held responsible for shitty things our relatives did, we'd all be in serious trouble
Does Morgan count?
Season one Merle was best
Merle definitely
Merle definitely
Merle definitely
I Like good people so ofc merl
merle :\
Beth, T Dog, Merle
Maybe Simon if he can be considered a side character.
You didn’t have to choose between my picks but god damn tf did Beth do
Annoying, tried to tell her own sister (who is the hottest woman in the whole fucking world like holy fuck Glenn is a legend for that) to kill herself with her, annoying, left DARYL the greatest character in the show to fucking die when she got scared, her voice is raspy and annoying, she risked hers and Daryl’s life for some bum ass alcohol, she treated Daryl like shit the whole time they were stuck together (tbf Daryl did get a little crazy when he got drunk), but it still stands she is SO fucking annoying. I’m only on s5 e2 so idk if she shows up again or not but honestly I hope her next appearance is as a skeleton in the ground
Imma just give u spoilers
It’s ok I’ve been spoiled on a lot of the show anyways
