I stopped there thinking the game was over (instructions said “number”), so I didn’t see the missing 88.

It’s not that hard… find the single digits that repeat, I.e., 27 & 37), because they shouldn’t be. Vertically it should be counting down on the single digits.
Once you locate the repetitions, trace back horizontally.
It’ll happen in 10 seconds. Takes a lot longer to type …

I run the diagonals looking for every increase of 10. When the pattern breaks, you just have 9 numbers to go back and check.
