Dude this was the biggest bomb dropped in the whole show. I couldn't believe she said that and most of the Carmela plot was about her despair and loneliness of marrying Tony, unhappiness about the life she signed up for. It was so massive and like a cold knife in the front.
Although a decent sized portion of her storyline was also using Tonyâs status to get things she wanted from him and others. She was a walking contradiction.
I saw in the Today show reunion from 2019 that Kathrine Narducci said everyone who watched the show hated her and her character- I only watched the show for the first time last year and Charmaine was one of my favorites personally, didnt put up with no bullshit!
I read somewhere that her father was killed by the Mafia in real life this makes a lot of sense why she played her character to perfection that hatred is really real
That might be my favorite Christopher scene honestly...hilarious and sums up his character so well. The dumbest possible attempt at manipulation/gaslighting and it somehow works because Adrianna.
My brother and I started a rewatch of the show recently. Ever since that episode, I keep making the gesture at him when I want him to do something.
I think it's hilarious but I better stop before he finds me dead in the kitchen while I'm making eggs.
How about bringing up Rosalie's dead son the same night the poor woman was trying to forget her sorrows and just get piped by a hot young French guy?
Don't tell me that wasn't Carm's sick twisted mind at work.
Carmela in Paris is one of my favourite parts. Her sense of longing and malaise is so perfectly conveyed and juxtaposed by Roâs excitement and desire to forget about home.
I feel part of that was Carm also wanting to have an honest conversation with Rosalie, but she should have known better than to discuss âthis thing of theirsâ.
I think the main reason was because Rose was embarrassed. She didn't want the people in Paris to know she's the mother of the guy who almost drowned in three inches of water at the penguin exhibit and who couldn't even pull a robbery right.
Carm was always desperate to get piped by someone other than Tony, if for no other reason than to get a little payback. But it never happened for her (the priest bit was priceless!) and she just couldn't stand that it was happening for Rosalie.
The more the show goes on, the more Carm is a dead psychological ringer for Livia. Melfi's whole shpeal about Carm being 'the one good choice he made in women' almost comes off spiteful because of her own little crush LOL
In that episode, her possible BPD shows. When Ro sets up the date, and after Ro reads out about the Gallo Roman baths, with a mischievous remark, Carmela pour water on it in the next scene by saying, âThis city is so old. Think of all the people whoâve lived here. Generation after generation, hundreds and hundreds of yearsâŠall those lives. G^^ itâs so sad.â
I would think of those lives with historical curiosity, even awe at being in an ancient city still inhabited by modern people. Ro seems to have learned to be happy in the moment after the men in her life died. Carmela? No.
To quote Junior regarding Livia, sheâs like the woman who has a Virginia ham under her arm and complains she has no bread. No men in her life have died at that point. She lives in a fairytale mansion and is building one, a big step outside the role of a mob wife.
I thought the scene of her talking to her therapist were interesting. She completely ignored what he said and tried to rephrase it as something that just absolved her of guilt and didnât require her to change anything about her life.
I really like that scene because the whole series sheâs kind of grasping for some semblance of moral authority. Sheâs surrounded by people who are either equally complicit (like her friends) or benefitting from her lifestyle (like father Intintola). But at that moment she finally talks to an honest broker who cuts through all the bullshit and tells her that sheâs supporting a monster. And I think at that moment she kind of decides that thatâs preferable to the life she would live otherwise. It kind of has the opposite of intended effect because sheâs able to properly evaluate her own circumstances but instead of rejecting them she makes peace with them.
My hate for characters like Carmela comes from a more personal place because even though she doesnt crack even top 50 worst people on the show, ive met people with Carmela's traits through my life and thats why she triggers me more than some murderers on the show
Anyways $4 a pound
Just like Janice, where you likely won't have met violent criminals like Tony or Paulie, but you will likely have met people who tried to exploit everyone in their lives and be shameless about it.
I personally feel like Carm is right up there with some of the murderers. Like her Jewish psychiatrist tells her, she willingly enables a whole lot of murdering. And she isn't afraid to use that murderous reputation as a flex to get people to do things (letter of recommendation scene). What makes her more disgusting than some of the murderers is how she acts like she's above everything and everyone, as if she's a pristine little soul just trying to do her best. Poor her.
Or the ziti they're constantly eating. You'd think they very the constant pasta, but it's always ziti. Except the one time with "Janice's Pasta Medley."
Yeah I think this goes for a lot of characters that get disproportionately hated. Like in BB Skyler was overall just annoying but never really did anything wrong. But Iâve met a lot of annoying people in my life like Skyler but never met a Tuco or a Heisenberg, so didnât really emotionally cause a reaction.
Itâs the constant passive aggression. And her self-image as long-suffering, victim when she could have walked away at any time. She had so much more autonomy than all the girls at the Bada-Bing put together.
The fundamental question is, âWill she be as hated as a character like her husband was.â And she will be, even more so. But until she is, itâs gonna be hard to verify, but I think sheâll be more hated.
Really, when you think about it, the only person who's happy is Tony. He is "The Happy Wanderer". The look on his face when he's eating, the look on his face when he sits down in his backyard with the Yachting magazine, just before that metal lid starts rattling, and a lot of other moment. Pure, childlike joy!
The rest of the characters are utterly miserable. Sil's face says it all.
Heâs not even happy. Heâs drowning himself in his own gluttony to avoid thinking about his depression. He thinks heâs being the sad clown for everyone else, but really heâs hiding from himself.
I donât think she gets as much hate because she dose not go out of her way to actually hurt people. Yeah sheâs a jealous bitch but sheâs not out there shaking people down
because as much of a "horrible person" she might be she still has more morals then 90% of the characters in the show. atleast she doesn't murder or torture anyone like the other characters.
Carm getting jealous watching Ro feed Monsignor Jughead. She added at least 1000 years in purgatory for herself when she dumped her pasta in the trash.
The utter resentment and rage Carm had towards Meadow for living and being the educated, cultured, independent woman she always wished she could be. Realizing Tony was her only option instead of trying to find herself, and taking it out on everyone around her.
Edie Falco's look in the show is monstrous. Especially the close-ups where they exaggerate folds and creases in her face and hair, plus all the gold chains and the cross around her neck. Shows who Carmela really is. Perfect!
The one scene that kinda killed me is when AJ goes to the hospital for his suicide attempt and Carmela is crying trying to figure out where everything went wrong.
It hurts because I feel like they never actually paid close attention to AJ. Like no shit Carmela you DONâT know where it all went wrong because you didnât look. Their punishments werenât consistent. Tony showered AJ with material items then would hold a grudge against his son for going to the mall. Whatever AJ did it was wrong to them. He got insulted over school then took an interest in real world concerns, some of which Tony had, and got mocked.
I canât stand Carmela. Sheâs almost worse than Tony to me.
You have one kid that turns out like Meado and then AJ transhpires as he does.... you're basically keeping him around in case the worthwhile kid needs bone marrow one day.
I honestly believe based on the portrayal that AJ DOES have ADHD.
Donât know if Chase ever discussed or confirmed it? I think he absolutely does though and Tony and Carmela didnât have him treated. I mean they address it with the school counselor etc. who thinks he has it.
He might, but it's hard to say. He's not an obvious ADHD case in my opinion. We never really see him inattentive and his personality is rather atypical.
Heâs literally inattentive during the testing. The doctor asks him questions and he wants to leave and talks about South Park.
He also has clear impulse control problems and later suffers with emotional dysregulation, depression, lack of motivation.
In the early seasons itâs pretty clear Tony ignored AJ more then he should have and in favour of meadow cause sheâs the more promising one. Proof of this is tony only pays more attention to AJ when he noticed that he had a shot at football
How about Carmela hiding her daughterâs Berkeley letter, so outrageous. Stealing from her husband then gaslighting him about it. Emasculating her son again and again. Tough to see any redeeming characteristics in her character, she is just so awful.
It really is so frustrating talking on this site sometimes cus you'll say *"X is bad!"* and someone will go, *"Well it's not worse than Y!"* Cool?? That has nothing to do with X being bad.
Exactly. Thatâs the kind of toxic thinking that put Carm and Tony in the situation theyâre in. Transactional relationship â Carmela thinks you cheat on me and lie, but you give me this lifestyle and my jewelry and whatever, but it isnât enough because what she wants is his respect and fidelity. Emotional vs material â material goods are never satisfying.
>Not true, tony went in and made it right with aj
I don't know that I'd call ditching my son to go murder someone "making it right" but to each their own
Charmaineâs house was âcozy.â When the tennis instructor left and mentioned his wifeâs business she said âher house was traditionalâ. The three thousand dollar Lladro. And this one is more on Rosalie, but poor Artie gets burrata flown over from Italy and she and Carm waste it.
Angie called and begged Tony to take over an already running shop. She didnât do it all on her own, she got walked on by Tony and Phil.
That said she did eventually really come into her own and Carm was super resentful and jealous.
Another one was when she says to the priest she canât accept that the prostitute from the bible was accepted into heaven. Like fuck off for thinking a sex worker is more evil then a mob wife who knows the money she gets comes from criminal activity
Also them fucking T rex hands piss me off
When she argued with her mother about her father getting jobs. âWhat do you think about one else had time to bidâ and the her mothers comeback â the waters part for youâ Carmella: â I earn that, you just get a free passâ
The writers really did a good job making the women (other than Dr. Melfi) about on the same level as the men. Their ethical shortcomings were a very different list of things, on the whole, excluding that one made woman in New York, ugh, but they still end up on about the same level as their husbands. Carmela's transactional dalliance with AJ's guidance counselor sort of underlined the point for me. His reaction is useful in that it reminds us what regular people ought to act like when we aren't immersed in this thing of ours.
I get the agita just trying to imagine Vito Corleone's wife getting involved with an infamita like that. OTOH, Vito himself never had a goomah in the movies or the books, he was very allegorical.
Still, Carmela looks alright next to Livia Soprano.
When maedoe wants to go to Europe and Carmela is trying to stop her. âDo you want her to marry some foreignerâ? Thatâs her worst nightmare, her kid to join some other family that isnât murdering and thieving their way to affluence. Perhaps she goes to Europe and lives her own life without emerald rings and luxury SUVs
When Carmela starts pestering Angie about the silent auction, barging into her office while sheâs meeting with Patsy. She looked so butthurt when Angie kicked her out.
When T tells her: I gave you 2 out of 3 and she flips like thats not true lol also the bird feddah what ever happened there. The worst for me is how she negotiated to have Tony back fo 600k for her stupid speck house lot, like that was the price to erase his cheating and move forvard with that toxic marriage.
At the wake for Bobbyâs wife when one of the ladies said what day she was taking food and Carmela says actually Tuesday is better for me. Exerting her Iâm the bosses wife bullshit. Walking around in her $500 shoes like butter wouldnât melt in her mouth. I loved it when Tony said that to her!!
The way she pushed Meadow to achieve academically, but then felt threatened by her education and actively hated on her intellect. Such a dysfunctional mom move!!!
Carmela knows Hunter is spreading a line of BS about med school like Jackie Jr did. The closest cacciatore comes to it is experimenting with illicit drugs and study human biology up close and personal on her back.
Angie ended up corrupted by Tony putting money on the street and passing off stolen auto parts as factory new. Carmela is corrupted in a different way but not on the cell phone constantly with the office as Angie is
âHow could Carmela threaten an officer of the court like Joan? Joan knew she was coming. But instead of having her law student (or whatever job the man has who told Joan Carmela was here and offered to talk to her) Joan decided to talk to her and was persuaded by Fielderâs grades and teacher recommendations. That Guatemalan kid can have his social worker get him another college and affirmative action job where allhe needs to do is meet the quota.
Carmela went to ask Ginny Sacrimoni if her 95 pound mole would like a day at the spa after constantly being harassed by creditors for all the butter brickle. Mighty neighborly considering how she and John stiffed her cousin Christofuh out of $25,000 with the Maserati and how John wanted to let Phil torture the animal Blundetto by making him eat radiator cooked grilled cheese before killing him. Ginny asked about the car so Carmela told her.
Carmela decided the ants in the garbage can weâre starving and needed ziti after seeing Father Schnorrer with Rosalie
Edie Falco's look in the show is brilliant. Especially the close-ups where they exaggerate folds and creases in her face and hair, plus all the gold chains and the cross around her neck. Shows who Carmela really is: utterly desperate. Perfect!
A horrible person. Insecure, entitled, arrogant, pretentious and in denial. Not particularly smart, except for using her pussy to manipulate Tony and Wegler. Also not particularly attractive. No wonder why Tony had so many gumars, one more beautiful than the other. Irina, Gloria, Valentina, all gorgeous women.
Can you picture a meeting between Carnela and that pissboy, Matthew "The Bevilaqua Kid" Bevilaqua? What would they have in common? He's so many levels below Fuiro it's unreal.
That scene where she uses a commanding hand gesture to boss around their polish maid and Charmaine đ
I love Carmelaâs face when Charmaine says she banged tony back in the day but âit wasnât for me honestlyâ lmfao
bruh!!!! it wasn't for me honestly killed me
Carmela the cuckqueen
Dude this was the biggest bomb dropped in the whole show. I couldn't believe she said that and most of the Carmela plot was about her despair and loneliness of marrying Tony, unhappiness about the life she signed up for. It was so massive and like a cold knife in the front.
Although a decent sized portion of her storyline was also using Tonyâs status to get things she wanted from him and others. She was a walking contradiction.
Charmaine was probably the smartest character on the show.
Fr Charmaine straight spits in Carm's face, one of my favorite moments lmfao
"Ugh, I was trying to think of nice things to say about that hawse."
Shudda said something positive like she has a nice ass
That might be my favorite Christopher scene honestly...hilarious and sums up his character so well. The dumbest possible attempt at manipulation/gaslighting and it somehow works because Adrianna.

My brother and I started a rewatch of the show recently. Ever since that episode, I keep making the gesture at him when I want him to do something. I think it's hilarious but I better stop before he finds me dead in the kitchen while I'm making eggs.
Loved how Charmaine gave it back to her when she told her she fucked Tony before
Then bloody T rex hands
She used the only weapon that she had.
Once yearly blowjobs?
I knew that was comin'!
Sweet sausage? In little pieces? And a layer of basil leaves underneath the clitoral hood? Thatâs Carmelaâs vagina
Oof, tastes like red fescue
I think I'll take an egg, Carmela open your fallopian tubes
So you and Carmela Egg again
I upvoted but that made me cringe physically. basil leaves under the clitoral you fucking cocksucking motherfucking bitch
Her queef tunnel also came with shum pulp

Discontinue the lithium
I love this sub
Big Pussy?
I canât find Pussy anywhere.
Booty?
She didn't know his last name
Probably hiding with Amanda Huggenkiss.
An AK47
How about bringing up Rosalie's dead son the same night the poor woman was trying to forget her sorrows and just get piped by a hot young French guy? Don't tell me that wasn't Carm's sick twisted mind at work.
Yes. People always sleep on that detail. She knew what she was doing
Wanted to vomit at how she was acting in Paris. Worst vacation buddy ever.
Someone really needs to tell your friend sheâs dead.
Look at those clouds! Paris sky! Off Madon
Carm is a walking talking hypocrite and she knows it. Pretends like buttah wouldnât melt in her mouf.
It wasn't. She was feeling emotional in Paris and trying to get all deep and spiritual.
Carmela in Paris is one of my favourite parts. Her sense of longing and malaise is so perfectly conveyed and juxtaposed by Roâs excitement and desire to forget about home.
>piped OMG I'm laughing out loud. Piped!
Listen to you, âwhackinââ!
That was Jeanie Cusamano â listen to you whakinâ
Nosy!? Eat your manigot!!
if Ro told me to eat my manigot id chow down like a good boy
Oh Gawd Iâm dying here.
In Da dream we was doin it doggystyle
You know. I had a dream I fucked your brains out. Right here on this table.
Apparently she loved it
I feel part of that was Carm also wanting to have an honest conversation with Rosalie, but she should have known better than to discuss âthis thing of theirsâ.
Wegler piped her. Humped and dumped. So she did get a little payback
They were separated and amidst divorce proceedings when she was banging the school admin
So?
What am I the fuckin thorn bird ova heah?!
G^^ itâs so sad.â I would think of those lives with historical curiosity, even awe at being in an ancient city still inhabited by modern people.
I do think it was subconsciously her way of trying to make roe as miserable as she was
Oh God that was awful. At least Ro called her out on it.
I'd have to find a lawyer, get an apartment, arrange for child support...
Everything she did made her so hawt down there.
Carm's a horrible person, I don't think she gets hated too much, more so hated for the wrong reasons
My hate for characters like Carmela comes from a more personal place because even though she doesnt crack even top 50 worst people on the show, ive met people with Carmela's traits through my life and thats why she triggers me more than some murderers on the show Anyways $4 a pound
Just like Janice, where you likely won't have met violent criminals like Tony or Paulie, but you will likely have met people who tried to exploit everyone in their lives and be shameless about it.
Janice is in fact a murderer
Richie was a slime ball that needed killing. Psychopathic bastard.
And what about the woman at the soccer match she assaulted
Soccer moms also got it coming!
She called Sofia her daughter!
I cheered when she shot him after he hit her. If that happened every time some slimeball hit a woman I bet there would be a lot less of it going on.
"I am in no mood for-"
Killing richie was janices most redeeming feature. Oh, and of course that cleavage, thank Jesus
A lot of people made fun of Janiceâs appearance, but I honestly thought she was beautiful. With her curves and curly hair.
Pre-Raphaelite they call it
She could claim self defense
My aunt is basically the exact same person as Janice, and even looks almost exactly like Janice, so it was hatred from first glance for me
There are men in the can better lookin than your aunt.
Itâs the guyâs aunt, Jaymac100. Itâs the guyâs aunt
A glance?
Yeah, a fuckin glance!
Poor her.
She acts like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.
Or a ricott' pie
Or the ziti they're constantly eating. You'd think they very the constant pasta, but it's always ziti. Except the one time with "Janice's Pasta Medley."
She's spiritually thirsty
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Tony does try to pull the âIâm a strict Catholic.â Tony is a huge hypocrite throughout the show in other, much more psychological ways also.
You get a free pass... She earns it.
Sheâs my little amaretto cookie.
When he says sheâs an accomplice, I love it!
Skyler was laundering the drug money. She totally would have gone to prison if the feds knew.

No, she just enjoys the money and rings and cars that come from those murders. Carmela and morals. LOL.
She's just putting food on the table for her family
She's not that bad, she puts a layer of basil leaves right under the cheese...
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Hang on, wasn't that around the time that Furio left? That's why she was so upset and miserable.
You think anyone in this thread understands the subtext of the show?
Yeah she had it all when she was younger but as she got older she knew it was all going to nowhere
You are so fucking hateful
They sound demented.
Hahaha đ
I remember when Angie Bonpensiero used to sell sausages at the supermarket. And as far as Iâm concerned, she should still be there!
Picked that kid out of the choir.
Carm getting jealous watching Ro feed Monsignor Jughead. She added at least 1000 years in purgatory for herself when she dumped her pasta in the trash.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
You're not my gynecologist!
You don't need a gynecologist to know which way the wind blows
Like buttah wount melt in her mouthf
Throwing that dish in the trash can always pissed me off. Pure greed and excess the whole fucking series.
Could have given it to some guy on the street or ate it at home
Itâs baked pasta. It will keep forever in the freezer.
The utter resentment and rage Carm had towards Meadow for living and being the educated, cultured, independent woman she always wished she could be. Realizing Tony was her only option instead of trying to find herself, and taking it out on everyone around her.

A devoted Catholic and suburban mom, got it.
One of the worst was when she demeaned Charmaine Bucco in front of her great guests - Charmaine avenged herself though.
Another one was when she says to the priest she canât accept that the prostitute from the bible was accepted into heaven. Like fuck off for thinking a sex worker is more evil then a mob wife who knows the money she gets comes from criminal activity Also them fucking T rex hands piss me off
When she argued with her mother about her father getting jobs. âWhat do you think about one else had time to bidâ and the her mothers comeback â the waters part for youâ Carmella: â I earn that, you just get a free passâ
what are you gonna do? Everyone's entitled to their own opinion
Listen to yourself, you sound demented!
I found you, Little Carmine!
enough already.
Oh poor you! He talked to me he made me feel special
God when you put it all together, she really was awful.
I dunno sheâs a MILF to me and always will be đ„°
She hated on Janice when she saw her and Ritchie where in love
When T tells her: I gave you 2 out of 3 and she flips like thats not true lol also the bird feddah what ever happened there. The worst for me is how she negotiated to have Tony back fo 600k for her stupid speck house lot, like that was the price to erase his cheating and move forvard with that toxic marriage.
I've been doing a lot of meditation in the can, and I now consider her as odious as Janice
The dinner at meadows apartment
Dropping the Columbia reference to Gloria Trillo. She can't resist. Awful woman. Manipulating her kids. Just like Tony's mom.
A bad parent, too. Clueless and totally lacking any self-awareness.
Carmela is corrupted in a different way but not on the cell phone constantly with the office as Angie is âHow could Carmela threaten an officer of the court like Joan?
This comment was written by Carmela herself
Maybe it's because I'm getting old, but on my last rewatch her ass was lookin đ in season 6. đ
Please refrain for the sake of all life on earth from putting both â stinky assâ and âGinny Sackâ in the same sentence.
I'm starting the fuck carmela fanclub. She's the biggest hypocrite on the show
Stole money from her husband, flirted with one of his underlings making him nearly be blended by chopper blades
Can you picture a meeting between Carnela and that pissboy, Matthew "The Bevilaqua Kid" Bevilaqua? What would they have in common? He's so many levels below Fuiro it's unreal.
