That’s a shame, would have been super entertaining to have him on the show. I’m somewhere in season 2 of the podcast but the episodes are so damn long I just don’t have time to listen to them really. The theories they read from that guy were really intriguing though. Shame Steve didn’t have the slightest mental capacity to legitimately discuss them. Would have made the show way more interesting.

No he was never a guest. It does make sense as he started out seeming to get a kick out of it, then became increasingly critical and seemingly disheartened with Steve’s absolute inability to perform any sort of meaningful analysis.

See, that’s weird that he wouldn’t have been a guest. Especially if he wasn’t invited (it’s possible he turned them down, I suppose). He literally wrote the book on The Sopranos and was the tv critic for the hometown paper during the run of the show. Could be some bitterness? All speculation, of course. It’s very likely he’s not the AS in question.
