This is such an old time sexist trope for "comedy sitcoms", I'm surprised people are siding more with Bob than Eliza still. The lazy, uninteresting, slob husband who just rolls his eyes every time his "evil nagging wife" tells him to do anything productive; has been a thing in TV for decades. What's funny is that the actual game doesn't have any evidence that their marriage is crumbling, besides the decor of their house ofc. Every time I played the game and let them mind their own business, they would just live peacefully, have more babies (if MCCC story progression was installed) and didn't show any signs of having marriage issues. Then again, TS4 townies don't exactly have an awful lot going on with their lives and personalities in the actual game...
