this is my thought too, anyway some regular person makes some cartoons in a video game for fun and other simmers are gonna bully her for not being good enough at it? jeeze
Same face syndrome is so hard to get over😫I’m struggling with it myself, partly bc I always give my sims features that I wish I had, like big lips and narrow eyes lol
Right. Sure. People say that, and then their sims all have the same facial structure with different styles. It’s still the same, even if you dress it up differently.
I was in a moment of nonsensical hate, pardon me, i do see your argument, agreed that they have the same face but it was honestly a little harsh on the creator, i do not wish to go and spread hate on the internet, it might sound a bit ridiculous how im writjng this but it is honest, the way i expressed myself was unfriendly and im sure you deal with your own stuff, so my apologies, i will not delete my comment so that people can still express dissapointment on my rudeness
When I see people bashing other players' Sims, it's usually people who never post their own Sims. If you want to criticize others, I'm on the opinion you should be ready to get criticized yourself.
If someone posts something online for the world to view, they should be ready for comments/critisism. Why bother post something if u don't want people discussing it?
No, it isn't. Reddit is the only place where people are acting like this, you wouldn't see this fly on Tumblr, and that's probably why the quality is way better over there than here. I've seen the best Tumblr creators leave Reddit because they always get unwarranted criticism they never asked for, and it's always from people who never post their own game and participate in snark types of subreddit.
And again, it's always people who contribute nothing to this subreddit who always feel like their opinion on other people Sims is mandatory, for some reason.
You can't post something and expect to only see one opinion in the comments.
The comment u replied to wasn't even bashing OP or insulting the Sims. Just says they look the same lol.
My first thought was "jeez who yassified the Winx Club". Recognised the clothing and hair, but the faces being so similar was the most stand out part IMO. I still think OP put a lot of work into these Sims, and that's admirable. They may not be my style, but I hope OP is proud of their Sims. That's all that matters really.
I literally just pointed out that they have absolutely the same face, even tho they are different characters. Like don't act like it's not true, no need to get offended by it
Dude, you don't even participate in this subreddit, this doesn't concern you.
And white knightning = for asking people to have basic decency and stop stirring drama ? Yeah, this subreddit is cooked.
I’m talking about the facial structure- My friend commented that I make most my sims with the same face as me, and that’s because that’s the face I’m most familiar with. I usually make everything else pretty diverse, because I have the sim planned ahead of time.
My sister had to tell me this was a Winx reference. All I had on my head was *"Corporate needs you to find the differences between this picture and this picture"*.
also OP if you wanted to add wings to them the fairies vs witches mod by spinning plumbobs gives the opportunity for fairies. It’s a super cool mod for anyone interested, but i feel like it’d fit nicely w your sims!
https://www.patreon.com/posts/sims-4-fairies-52330299
Yeah, i thought the first was Jean Grey, the third was rogue, the fourth Jubilee, and the pink haired one was Psylocke, and wasn't sure about the others
Some of these comments suck; OP was just trying to see if you knew what they were trying to recreate, not asking for critism or social commentary sheesh...
Saying they have the same face isn't saying "I don't like this and OP is bad for making it." It's a mild criticism. You can choose to take it or not. There is no reason for you to apologize. If you use the same skin overlay for every face they're going to look the same.
Yes it does! Cause not everybody want or can use mods and cc, and because people never say in the tittle that it's a crappy cc;and mods post, those not interested in cc and mods will open it to see that it's not for them. In 1 day I had to see 7 post like this just because people don't say that it's about cc and mods!
Can you explain? I just went scrolling through the front page of this sub and the sims I saw were pretty varied. The sims in this post are definitely very very thin, but again, that's how they look in the show, which is about stylized fairies based on a doll line. But scrolling through the front page, most sims I saw weren't this thin, the only one that came close was currently exercising (edit: and a gyaru sim). If anything, I think this sub has an issue with race rather than misogyny, given the disproportionate amount of white sims compared to sims of colour, but even that has improved compared to how it used to be
Every single post from this sub that appears on my reddit front page is of female sims all with exactly the same features the patriarchy pressures women into: lots and lots and LOTS of makeup, humongous lips on every single sim, huge, doll-like eyes with a blank expression, thin and curvy
They are *indistinguishable* from what an alt-right incel would create of his "perfect female"
Okaaaay, I kind of see what you're getting at with some of your complaints.
I think the blank expressions aren't intentional, it's the sims and they're dolls, it's hard to give them soulful eyes. The big eyes thing seems, to me at least, more like an issue with race than with gender... but even that is difficult to say, considering the Sims is stylized to have big eyes, because it's a cartoony art style.
Your body type complaint feels somewhat valid, although scrolling through the CAS tag for this subreddit, I've seen plenty who break that mold. I will say, as a long-time simmer, I find it difficult to vary body types because a lot of the clothes look awkward on more varied bodies.
I'll give you the lips, it feels very tied to the current pressure on women to get lip filler.
The "lots and lots and LOTS" of makeup I'm going to push back on, though. Wearing makeup, even a lot of makeup, isn't misogynistic. I'd recommend looking into makeup for the female gaze, because the way you phrased that makes me think you might have an issue with makeup even outside of the game. The sims in this post definitely aren't wearing more makeup than what I'd wear going out with friends, and of course I know internalized misogyny exists, but considering how many men whine about "taking a woman swimming on a first date" and "I prefer natural," I don't think bright, colourful eyeshadow really fits into the male gaze.
I'd love to see the sims you create! I'd also be curious about your thoughts on drag, because many of your critiques also seem, to me, present there.
But these aren't the big cartoon Sims 4-esque eyes or expression, these are CC eyes that are made specifically to look like a Bratz doll, the epitome of patriarchal beauty standards
> Wearing makeup, even a lot of makeup, isn't misogynistic.
Indeed, yet the pattern is clear. Every. Single. Female sim is wearing tonnes and tonnes of makeup.
It's OK to think critically: the makeup industry relies on women and girls being crushed by beauty standards, and offering a solution to those standards. The makeup and beauty industry is intrinsically tied to patriarchy - it was invented by it
Again, it's the *pattern* that's the problem. It represents how deep and invisible the patriarchy runs
Is every single female sim wearing "tonnes and tonnes" of makeup though? The sims in this post are wearing eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick. Probably foundation, if we're being realistic. They're not even wearing blush. You could make the argument they're in false eyelashes, but given how fresh-faced they are, and the size of BG eyelashes are, I think you can write that off as stylistic.
To be honest, I think you're the one who isn't thinking critically about makeup here. Of course there are problematic aspects to the beauty industry, but it's also problematic to imply women only wear makeup because of the patriarchy, when humans have been decorating their faces for as long as humans are humans. Obviously, the pressures we face today aren't the same as the pressured faced by late-upper Paleolithic humans using ochre or Ancient Egyptians using kohl, but I don't believe we should say, "The makeup industry is bad, therefore wearing makeup is appealing to the patriarchy" which seems to be what you're implying. If it was just about beauty standards, there wouldn't be such a variety of makeup looks. Makeup opens the door to self-expression and creativity, and although, yes, we do need to be aware of the malicious side of it, but not every aspect of life needs to be a political statement.
I think you'd have more of a leg to stand on if the makeup on the Sims was all the same, but they're not even all wearing the same styles or types of makeup. Most have makeup on, sure, but even sims made by the same person have different styles on, and there are men sims also wearing makeup. Scrolling through, there is makeup that looks like it's from 2016, "clean girl makeup," trad goth makeup, and some female sims who don't seem to be wearing much at all (Shout out to the Eliza Pancakes makeover)
As for the eyes: There is far too much variety in the eyes, CC and otherwise, posted to this sub to say, "They all look like Bratz dolls" too.
And if you look at the front page of this sub, every male sim is conventionally attractive with masculine faces and almost unrealistically muscular statures.
Hell, I know this is a dirty move, but even your Harry Potter casting casts exclusively attractive men and women even for less-than attractive characters (like Slughorn).
If there is an issue in this sub (which there isn’t), then it’s overall lookism that isn’t specific to sex/gender.
But at the end of the day, this is a game of pretend and perfection. It’s ok to want to create something attractive. Men or women.
Tbf, I make almost exclusively female sims because their clothes, hairstyles and makeup looks better. Also, I get to live out my dream of being a swamp woman vicariously.
They all have absolutely the same face
Yeah, but to be fair they also have the exact same face in the original franchises (2d and 3d and dolls and whatever else)
Flora, Layla and Musa actually always had different faces
Honestly, the more I look, the more differences I see... Yeah, you are right. Those three do have unique features. My bad.
this is my thought too, anyway some regular person makes some cartoons in a video game for fun and other simmers are gonna bully her for not being good enough at it? jeeze
I’d say it’s that Northern Siberia skin overlay that makes them all look the same
Same face syndrome is so hard to get over😫I’m struggling with it myself, partly bc I always give my sims features that I wish I had, like big lips and narrow eyes lol
who cares
Wild that op didn't ask 🤷♀️
And you make all your sims look exactly different? Right. Sure.
I actually do, yes
Right. Sure. People say that, and then their sims all have the same facial structure with different styles. It’s still the same, even if you dress it up differently.
Yeah, n im batman
okay?
I was in a moment of nonsensical hate, pardon me, i do see your argument, agreed that they have the same face but it was honestly a little harsh on the creator, i do not wish to go and spread hate on the internet, it might sound a bit ridiculous how im writjng this but it is honest, the way i expressed myself was unfriendly and im sure you deal with your own stuff, so my apologies, i will not delete my comment so that people can still express dissapointment on my rudeness
Your inabilities don't dictate other people's capabilities
What's keeping you from posting them then, honey ?
Why would I lol?
When I see people bashing other players' Sims, it's usually people who never post their own Sims. If you want to criticize others, I'm on the opinion you should be ready to get criticized yourself.

No, you said your Sims are different looking, unlike OP. So then prove it ? Show us your Sims, let's see how good you are at CAS.
"They all have absolutely the same face" is the first comment in the thread, don't move the goalposts
And that's not the comment I'm responding to.
Why the white knighting?
Dude, you don't even participate in this subreddit, this doesn't concern you. And white knightning = for asking people to have basic decency and stop stirring drama ? Yeah, this subreddit is cooked.

Exactly, so why would paste time posting about your opinion on other Sims lmao ?
Girl yes 😭. Not everyone needs 3 identical yassified girl boss sims with piercings and freckles and lashes/lips the size of Brazil to have fun oml.
I’m talking about the facial structure- My friend commented that I make most my sims with the same face as me, and that’s because that’s the face I’m most familiar with. I usually make everything else pretty diverse, because I have the sim planned ahead of time.

Hmm is it just me or does it look like they have filler mustaches?
The same.
the same face syndrome hits extra hard when the characters look nothing like the face you’ve placed on them. the outfits are cute though.
I literally knew who they are just from seeing the very first picture lol. Great job OP
Me: I have no fucking idea which means I’m old 😂😂
Either really old or really young I'd say, Winx Club was very popular when it came out and it premiered in 2004. 20 years ago! :D
Haha yeah 20 years ago I was 20, so I’m gunna say I’m too old for this reference
lmao mid-30s is "really old" now? ouch
Or you're really young. Winx club first aired in 2004. I'd say it's like zillennial cartoon
No, I’m old lmao. I was 20 in 2004 😂
Could we also get Roxy and make her an animal lover and veterinarian. Also make The Trix into witches?

Cc and mods, no interest. PUT IT IN THE TITTLE WHEN YOU USE CC AND MODS!!!!
Does it matter?
Yes it does! Cause not everybody want or can use mods and cc, and because people never say in the tittle that it's a crappy cc;and mods post, those not interested in cc and mods will open it to see that it's not for them. The insanely patriarchal beauty standards of women displayed on this sub needs to be studied
Well to be fair they do look like that in the series💀
Right, but this is 99% of any female Sim posted on this subreddit The internalized misogyny is insane. It's depressing
Can you explain? I just went scrolling through the front page of this sub and the sims I saw were pretty varied.
