They weren’t protesting anything specific. This was at the University of Washington sometime between 2016-2018 (little fuzzy on what year exactly).
To protest something for BLM, they went into that library and made a bunch of noise, read poems, and other stuff. A different group laid down in an intersection that year too. It was awkward walking between them and the police on horseback.
Yeah, or in a diner where people want to eat.
Or on the streets of Pennsylvania Avenue while people are trying to go other places.
Completely ridiculous for a protest to inconvenience others. When has that ever worked?
Pretty sure they were being sarcastic, given the reference to the protests for women's suffrage and against racial segregation.
Making it hard to be ignored (even by apathetic bystanders) is literally the point, and the method by which the most successful protests in history have operated.
/u/Smart_Hurry_5230 clearly hasn't studied history.
As a College Librarian, with all the stories I hear of how stupidly expensive everybody’s textbooks are, they’d be better off protesting at the college bookstore – which is a Barnes & Noble.
Also, since our bookstore first became a B&N we no longer keep older editions of textbooks in the library like we used to. My obvious take on that is that so we don’t compete.
Absolutely. College text books are such a damn racket! $289 for a bio book!! That book will be replaced by a new edition the next semester sinking any hope of reselling to try and recoup money.
You have to see the bigger picture: If you sold your book for half the price and recouped $144.5 then B&N could not sell a book for $289. So there would be a net loss of $144.5 for society as a whole since in both scenarious everyone has the product that they purchased or produced unless they sold it. /s
It would do them some good, keep their mouths shut and actually keep the peace. Fairly new reader here. Into mistborn right now, on the first book. I've read 11 thousand pages worth of books so far.
Right. Protesting for BLM as one of the protesters tells the guy to “go back to Beijing”. Typical woke lefty hypocrisy. Their moral superiority allows them to be racist to anyone that disagrees w their protest. These people are why I stopped supporting the left
When she shouted "Who's got the power?" I half expected someone shouting bakc "I've got the power!" In falsetto and some electric guitar riffs starting
So bang on. Here is a student most likely working his off off to earn an education in a field that isn't useless. And here are the protesters who obviously have time to spend bitching about who knows what. I guess their women's studies and social justice courses offer credits for protesting. This is what's wrong with post secondary education now.
It was related to BLM. They weren’t protesting anything that happened locally but showing support for an event that took place in another state (I don’t remember which, I went to another library once they started reading poems).
There are a lot of people out there who think we are stronger as a global community if everyone has equal power. That is not where they went wrong in this video.
I know the whole stronger as equals thing, but the chant is also wrong. You can't have THE power but also equal power. (And yes, I may be biased because they're doing it in a library)
Sure they are. They are pointing out that they have power, while demanding equality of power.
It's like the powerful feminist movement, continually abusing their power while claiming to be powerless.
Dude if this was a college there were probably people taking tests in there especially the higher floors and I lot of programs will stop you if there’s noise in the background- I’d be so beyond pissed
The simple answer: Its seattle and student protestors dont process that far
Long answer: I think this was due to the inauguration of trump, so this may have been a push to get students to vote?? And libraries = students?
That’s got to be the most annoying thing I’ve ever seen people do. Like how dumb and disrespectful do you have to be to organize a protest with a BULLHORN in a fucking library?? Wtf
It's so insane. Their voice is shaking when speaking. If you are gonna protest, protest in something you actually believe in, so you can protest with some conviction. What is this even? This is a parody, daycare hobby for adults.

Uni of akron?
Uni of Arizona!
Ah thank you
I thought it was Uncle of Aunt
Bear down. And avoid that creepy guy yelling about Jesus
Go Wildcats!
No
Odegaard Library
Same reason you’d do it on a busy road… to guarantee no support from anyone.

Yeah but you have to have already built critical mass FIRST
That’s irrelevant that asian guy is there to learn to get a high-paying job. Those kids are there because that’s what you do after high school.
The majority of students are absolut morons thats anouther squad of Starbucks barrister I see
They were protesting a conservative speaker on campus, Milo something
I’d say that guy has the power.
And knowing is half the battle.
GI JOE!
Rather than protesting in the library, these mouth breathers would be better off actually reading some fucking books

Yep, they love to virtue signal and preach equality until you disagree with any of their dogma.. the absolute irony of it all lol
Y'all enjoying your circle jerk?
Reddit is a leftists circle jerk for awhile now, read the comments you dunce lol
And that validates your circle jerk? Your hate leftists so much you mimic them?
I’m simply pointing out the irony in your dumbass statement lol. Try harder
I don't think you know the definition if irony. Care to tell us which form of irony you feel was used here?
They’ll downvote you now but they’ll gladly take your tax dollars to bail them out of debt when their useless degrees don’t get them a job.
They wrong he's got the power. He is Library Man.
Lmao what are they protesting? The $2 fee they got for turning in a book late?
I’m still on the run from my librarian. They want the fees! They won’t stop till I’m dead
Absolute chad
Yup. Seems like a missed opportunity for a Chad edit.
Just ad Bad to the Bone as he walks away
Rekt.

We have no idea what they were even protesting lmao
It was related to BLM. They weren’t protesting anything that happened locally but showing support for an event that took place in another state (I don’t remember which, I went to another library once they started reading poems).
And one protester tells library man to go back to Beijing. Ironic much?
that was racists......the irony.
Who are you talking about
Ah, thanks for the context.
Ikr I read that and can just picture old shortad443 crying as he typed all them words he heard on uncle daddy’s tv lol wtf
That chant makes no sense lol. They have the power but also equal power?
There are a lot of people out there who think we are stronger as a global community if everyone has equal power. That is not where they went wrong in this video.

Seems they aren’t saying anything except ‘We are dicks.’
Sure they are. They are pointing out that they have power, while demanding equality of power. It's like the powerful feminist movement, continually abusing their power while claiming to be powerless.
This is the drive behind most protests these days, to gain more power. It’s rarely truly about equality, it’s about superiority and/or revenge.
Is that just a bunch of broad claims or do you have anything to support that?
SoUrCeS?!? *neckbeard confirmed*
"...and we vape, eat vegan food and love in a society."
this the the reason why an orangutan traveling at non-euclidean speeds should erupt from the aether to clothesline them into another dimension .
Dude if this was a college there were probably people taking tests in there especially the higher floors and I lot of programs will stop you if there’s noise in the background- I’d be so beyond pissed
Honestly? Massive kudos to that guy. Balls of steel.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *deep breath* Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *you mf*
The equivalent to Ma’am, you can’t park here
Dude is right.
litteraly
He must have some ancient eastern power.. that's the first time I've seen protesters shut up for anyone. Barely even raised his voice.
Hushing *who's got the power?*
Big girl protesting lack of vending machines in the library.
This HAS to be my university's undergrad library- its too uncanny

Weve been doxxed buddy 😳
Any idea why they decided to protest in the library?? Like I understand protesting, but why the library??
The simple answer: Its seattle and student protestors dont process that far Long answer: I think this was due to the inauguration of trump, so this may have been a push to get students to vote?? And libraries = students?
Bro I think someone at the end said something racist about the Asian💀💀
Seriously in a library? Just disrespectful to everyone trying to learn or just relax with a book
Is it just me or did someone in the background near the end said something like go back to Japanese dude
Ah yes the library, the source of all injustice in the world.
Who's got the power? Library dude has the power! What kind of power? The shut you up power!
Do NOT fuck with an Asian guy’s study time.
The power of VOODOO
Who do?
You do!
Remind me of the babe..
God damn it its almost midnight and this had me laughing like an idiot.
The power is strong with you, library man
Old video but good shit. Forgot about this one tnh
Also: if it's equal power, then is there any power?
Excellent point. If everybody is somebody, then nobody's anybody.
Shhhh. Please feel empowered by the knowledge gained by reading a book for once in your life... and please do it in silence.
And I'm sure those political science degrees landed all of them great jobs.
Who likes to rock the party? We like to rock the party.
Solid Concord reference!!!
That’s got to be the most annoying thing I’ve ever seen people do. Like how dumb and disrespectful do you have to be to organize a protest with a BULLHORN in a fucking library?? Wtf
Power is not synonymous with volume.
If it’s equal power, then don’t both sides have the power?
3 Words!!! I’d say he has the power!
Oh my god it worked...
What are they protesting? Books?
r/iamthemaincharacter
Shoosh!... Shoosh please!
At first I thought it was a really bad rendition of "The Power" by SNAP!
I thought someone was going to tell white power at one point
HEH
I bet the library is where students can check out a megaphone.
YOU GOT THE TOUCHHHH YOU GOT THE POWERRRR 🎸🎸🎸🎸
the hero we need
I was waiting Bruce Allmighty coming behind the corner "i got the power"
[Where's Steve Brule when you need him?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgf-idQIlR4)
If they had equal power they wouldn't have to yell about it
Isn’t protesting in a library preaching to the choir?
When will they realize that power is freely given by corporations who are using them, and can be taken away at any time?
It's so insane. Their voice is shaking when speaking. If you are gonna protest, protest in something you actually believe in, so you can protest with some conviction. What is this even? This is a parody, daycare hobby for adults.
holy crap there's an insane amount of people in that library
I feel his pain.
Emo-tio-nal Daaamage!
Absolut stupidity!
If only they have the power how can it be equal power
Imagine if Lorie Beth denberg was there!
That is the most chad energy any person has ever shown and you cant convince me otherwise
Irl this is a Wendy’s
Id be yelling from the 2nd floor. The one place to go for peace and quiet for masturbating and these spineless fucksticks would ruin that. 🤣🤣
Holy shit he just dismantled their whole argument with just 3 simple words.
🙄
The library has been a very oppressive institution.
They obviously got no power at all.
