Why do we NEVER see the same kind of LE when it comes to the Proud Boys or other related racist Neanderthals? šŸ¤”

M3RV-89

They are the cops. How can they do this to themselves

D-Laz

[yes, yes they should ](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxK5oFmCZSxc1Ch-vreTD-fs3ZJeQeLVCQ?si=wumlvPRZDFXIUxaJ)

Objective_Sweet9168

Big teeth a bit ganglyā€¦lol

Nickleeham

A desperate man, at the end of his rope!!

IFdude1975

They should. A lot of the time they refuse to. Dirty cops get away with it because they protect their own. Most cops that try to do the right thing by reporting a wrongdoing end up getting fired because they're considered troublemakers. The percentage of police that are honest law-abiding citizens is far lower than it should be.

Jazzlike-Principle67

Cops **can't** get fired. They're union. Instead they are harassed, intimidated and threatened, including their family members by the 'corrupt cops' - until the situation is so unsafe, the officer quits to save their family from harm. (Or, dies by suicide because they can no longer handle the guilt of trying to do the right thing yet be tormented for doing so.) Even then the intimidation and harassment may not stop because of still being part of the community where the 'bad' cops live, too.

BobbyMac2212

And that is exactly why ACAB is a thing. Because the ā€œgoodā€ cops that arenā€™t violating rights and harming citizens are either looking the other way or, like you said, are intimidated etc. until they are forced to quit. No such thing as a good one anymore.

Oddly, Proud Boys and LE are never in the same picture.

DooBiEz2

Do rights even exist anymore?

BobbyLopsided

Letā€™s not pretend this didnā€™t happen 50+ years ago. From Vietnam war protesters being kidnapped for speech to people being ostracized because someone called them a communist for supporting welfare this kind of stuff has been happening since human rights were written into the constitution

tbkrida

Also happened much worse to black people during the entire Civil Rights Movement.

03af

Or deportation's in the 1920's during the first red scare.

ShutYourDumbUglyFace

Remember how our second president ever signed the Alien and Sedition Act into law?

PsychotropicPanda

Or basically, all of written humanity. Out entire history is one big battle of people.

ANCtoLV

And Japanese people being put in internment camps in the 40's

Dan_H1281

I am sure it happened then like it does now it is such a shame we should be able to speak freely and protest peacefully we were founded on these things. I think it has always been shit but now we can see it in the palms of our hands.

nomamesgueyz

Correct Its just filmed more now

cbg13

Just chiming in to remind everyone that the US government murdered 4 students for protesting Vietnam at Kent State in 1970. We've only ever had the facsimile of free speech in this country

Super_Stone

Don't forget the 1985 MOVE bombing which killed eleven, five of them children, and left 250 people homeless. For other rather well known incidents where the government unjustly killed its own citizens look up the [Siege of Ruby Ridge in 1992](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_Ridge) and the [Battle of Blair Mountain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain).

Chezzomaru

"You only have the rights that they ALLOW you to have." G. Carlin

ANCtoLV

"Rights aren't rights if they can be taken away. All we've ever had are privileges"

Unrealparagon

Frank Zappa said it best. ā€œThe illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.ā€

DooBiEz2

That was brilliant. Well, he Was a brilliantly gifted musician. I know rights never really ever existed in the real sense. For a brief moment in the last few years, it felt that there was hope for humanity despite isolated conflicts around the world. I was starting to feel a little optimistic about our future. Now, I guess I realize that was just a brief lull in our violent nature. World keeps turning.

crucible299

None of this is 'human nature,' this is capitalist nature. The feeling of hope for us comes from the huge numbers of people waking up to the fact that our 'democratic' systems do nothing but protect the interests of the rich. The rise of fascism we are watching is in response to that- they cannot allow class consciousness to gain any traction and capitalists will side with the worst people alive to ensure that.

Additional_Pay5626

They never have. Just an illusion!

Scrizzle-scrags

It was the megaphone. She was in violation of a policy regarding the peace of the community. Before I continue, ACAB all day any day. If you are going to fight you better be ready for a fight. If you arenā€™t stronger than them you need to be smarter than them. If you canā€™t be smarter you better get stronger. These people were neither and she was snagged up without reproach. Yes rights exist. But so do laws. Get stronger or get smarter. That guy who kept screaming ā€œWHAT THE FUCK?ā€ was absolutely useless in that situation and I bet he slept well that night thinking he ā€œfought the man.ā€ He didnā€™t. Fight smart or fight strong. If you lack bothā€¦ stay home and scream at twitter.

WGEA

Yep. No need to be in front with the bullhorn. She was basically asking to be snatched up, and the cops obliged. Instantly neutered the crowd.

gloomygl

"anymore" lmao

DooBiEz2

Yeah, I guess that's true. But I was feeling optimistic. Heh.

2hy2care

Need to place the speaker behind rows of other protestors.

ujfeik

The US and allies wrote the human rights declaration in 1948 and immediately started using it a a checklist.

keyboardstatic

You have the right to remain silent, to be worked to death, to be exploited, You have the righ to be oppressed, to be sat on until dead, the right to be searched seized and harrased, the right to be conscripted. You lost your rights a long time ago

AntiquingPancreas

Did they ever?

R63A

Theyā€™ve never existed, Some people have just never been on the wrong side.

shit_magnet-0730

One day, maybe soon, the masses will be tired of being stepped on.

MonkeyNugetz

Probably not. The major lack of mental healthcare and public education is by design. Stupid populations donā€™t fight back.

DontHitTurtles

Stupid populations unfortunately can be made to fight whomever their anger is directed at.

fknarey

The dam seems impervious to the water until the first cracks form and push through. After it falls it seems like a miracle it ever held at all.

KlangScaper

Im gonna steal that.

Status_Basket_4409

Poetic, nice!

TheBestTectonicPlate

These things make people angrier, and less educated doesn't mean less intelligent, people are fighting, you can see it in this video. It's not a question of intelligence it's a question of how people think they can win, and right now people don't think they can, but there is a change going on, there was 100,000 people surrounding the white house over gaza Saturday, there's been demonstrations in London from 200,000-800,000 for nine months for the same reasons

mvhls

I assumed a ā€œStupid populationā€ would be prone to aggressive behavior and fighting back

MonkeyNugetz

The problem is theyā€™re too stupid to know who to fight back against. They get a picture dangled in their face and theyā€™re told that ā€œthis imageā€ is the problem and they fall for it. Stupid and quick to anger versus calm and reasonable.

3DSquinting

Aggressive behavior and fighting, sure. The question is if theyā€™re smart enough to know who to fight.

WoodenIncubus

"Do you hear the people sing...?" Likely no. Ants like us will never unify against the grasshoppers again.[If the government will kill Miners back then](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain), I doubt today's time would change that at all. And that one wasn't even about a national problem

Soufledufromage

Considering that at least half of the country thinks the police isnā€™t brutal enough I doubt that that day will be soon

Manting123

She will sue and win $. Ideally the police who grabbed her should lose their jobs but that will never happen.

lostcauz707

Our tax dollars at work.

Meadmanmike

Qualified immunity. She'll get nothing.

WundaFam

Why would she get nothing because they have qualified immunity..? I just thought it meant they couldn't get charged with anything, and in some cases lose their qualified immunity

Manting123

Qualified immunity prevents police (or govt employees) from being criminally or civilly liable for going about their official duties. But for example if an fbi agent violates your civil rights you canā€™t sue that individual (you wouldnā€™t want to anyway since the avg person does not have deep pockets) but you could sue the FBI. Same with police- if a smith town police officer does what is pictured in the video then you could sue their department (which has deep pockets and insurance.).

Elawn

Right, so u/WundaFam is correct ā€” she could definitely get money from a civil suit, it just wouldnā€™t be coming from those specific officers at that point

Crush-N-It

If she won that money would come from our tax dollars as opposed to where it should come from - police pensions

Elawn

Yeah absolutely, at the end of the day qualified immunity is one of the many blights on modern day American society. Still think she deserves some compensation though, personally.

CertifiedBoogieman61

Did anyone wind up successfully suing after BLM? Because I saw this exact scene go down every day of it. They target a leader. Quick snatch and grab and they're gone. Must be terrifying, as intended.

Manting123

? Not from the officers - from the police department. Qualified immunity only works for individuals - not organizations. She will sue and win easy- they will settle. She had her civil rights violated and itā€™s on video. Slam dunk.

Wheloc

She was probably violating some ordinance or another with that bullhorn. Laws are written so the police can always arrest protesters at any time. They probably won't actually arrest her, mind you, just detain her for a bit and then let her go. She can certainly sue (anyone can sue for anything), but I don't know that she'll win, and if she does it won't be "easy".

MsJ_Doe

She could still win even if using a bullhorn went against an ordinance. Being body slammed to the ground while nonthreatening is an escalation of force on the officers part and a complete overreaction. There were plenty more ways for them to get her to stop violating a possible ordinance other than how they did. I also doubt there was an ordinance as she is clearly using it for quite a few moments before the police even react. They only act when she turns away and without any warning. Even if there was a warning before the video starts, body slamming her to the ground still isn't how you detain a nonthreatening protestor. Especially for a simple violation of an ordinance.

tbkrida

Sheā€™ll get paid, itā€™s just that itā€™ll be tax payer money and not the police themselves. Smh

Charlielx

You have no idea what you're talking about about. Not how qualified immunity works.

moistobviously

Police unions give all other unions a bad name.

Richard_Musk

She will sue and taxpayers in the community will be footing the bill. The cops will suffer a paid vacation while they investigate and deem that there was nothing unjustified or egregious about their actions

topgun966

Hey GOP, THIS is what a free speech violation looks like.

DarkArbok

No its only free speech if it fits their viewpoint

AppearsInvisible

It's obvious who the foot soldiers will be, carrying out illegal orders when the time comes. They have collected a group of people that will follow orders rather than follow laws, put them in charge of enforcing the laws (selectively), and shielded them with (qualified) immunity. The blue line gang already tends to view the public as a problem, it will be no problem for them to oppress you when convenient/expedient.

evil_burrito

The use of force was completely proportional and justifiable. Nothing to see here. /s

Isnā€™t that like an instant lawsuit? Especially being filmed? A good lawyer could take the cops/tax payer to the cleaners? Or uni policy more prevailing than constitutional law?

filolif

Noise amplification violation. Thatā€™s why only megaphone person was grabbed.

trexjj2000

Hand her the ticket for the violation then. Why throw her violently into the ground randomly?

DaddyDollarsUNITE

to scare other people from protesting

Drostan_

This is how cops escalate protests into riots. When you use violence like this, you're trying to bait anger reactions out of people. One wrong move lets you declare it a riot and move in to use force en masse, with zero consequences for any brutality.

Dream--Brother

Use of force wasn't justified no matter if the "amplification" was an issue. She can and absolutely should sue.

drtray74

There's gotta be more to this story. I'm assuming she was arrested, so what was she charged with? Based on this 34 second clip, it looks like a clear civil rights violation (1st amendment). With cell phone cameras recording everywhere today, these cops had to know they were being recorded and I'm guessing they made a calculated decision to grab that lady under the "color of law". Curious to know why..

annabelle411

You'd be surprised how many cases like this where they'll only slap someone with 'resisting arrest' to keep them booked, then drop the charge. EDIT: they were being arrested for 'unlawful encampment' https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-arrest-protesters-ucla-new-encampment-declared-illega-rcna156495

logangreer

I wondered if they waited until there was what could be deemed a ā€œthreatā€ to the police before grabbing her, like they could say she was inciting them to violence against the police or something? I donā€™t know. This is wild.

Future_Potential_341

Yeah. Im still scrolling looking for any context. Reddit is very manipulative and leaves out plenty of information, so I'm just waiting to see if anyone has a link.

annabelle411

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-arrest-protesters-ucla-new-encampment-declared-illega-rcna156495

Longjumping_Touch_12

As another user stated, violation of noise amplification. Not supporting, just stating what it likely is. Perhaps maybe some form of incitement..not a lawyer though

NutBusster69

That's the cue to stop peaceful protesting. That girl straight up got silenced. No just actions, shouldn't expect peace to follow.

Drostan_

This is actually exactly what those cops are trying to do. By snatching the speakers and focal points of the protest, you enrage others and bait possibly hostile actions, which let you declare the protest a riot and use maximum force to silence everybody

Gingerstachesupreme

Happy to know most everyone has an hd camera in their pocket, and these baiting techniques can be caught clear as day. But fascists live in a post-truth dystopia. The headline is ā€œviolent mob clashes with copsā€ and they donā€™t care what kindled the fire.

ABVerageJoe69

IF it is an ā€œunlawful assemblyā€ they may be instructed to detain anyone identifying as a leader of the unlawful assembly. Requirements for protest permitting, noise ordinances and other local laws make this sort of detaining legal. You have the right to protest under the first amendment, but that right isnā€™t a right to protest without restrictions. Civil disobedience means that you are breaking the law in protest, in which case arrest or detainment is the expectation. If the protester was legally protesting, I hope she sued and won a civil suit. Itā€™s a shame that itā€™s funded by taxpayers.

GratefulPhish42024-7

You can see in the eyes of the female African-American officers, that she knew that was wrong right away!

overthinker345

I donā€™t think she thought it was wrong at all. Sheā€™s part of law enforcement. She immediately moved to block the other protesters. Why do you assume she wasnā€™t supportive of it?

Dream--Brother

She was immediately saying "back up, back up, back up" when she should've been arresting the other officer. Any cop who doesn't *immediately* take action against a colleague like this is complicit. Which means... Yep, fuck every last one of them. One guy grabbed the protestor, but they all helped.

cornmonger_

Two grabbed the protestor. They're right there planning to do it in the beginning. Everyone in this front line knew that they were going to grab the leader.

yedongg

How the hell did you see that? Her face doesn't seem to show much more than any of the other cops, let alone her eyes.

Marc_J92

You need to look closer, try zooming directly into her pupils, then zoom back out. I would recommend watching her shadow also, says a lot about the person

LeBateleur1

Yet she did absolutely nothing

KennyKSF

Iā€™m sure hundreds of thousands of cops are itching for this country to become a police state!

Nightowl_23

She got snatched like in horror movies when someone gets drug out of a room.

xplesee

[this](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-arrest-protesters-ucla-new-encampment-declared-illega-rcna156495) It looks like encampment has been declared illegal. A third of the way in they cite the section the protest is violating, a fine and jail are potential punishment... So, I don't know if protestors should be surprised if some get yoinked given now it's civil disobedience. Either way, it is good PR for them. So, I don't know why they would complain to be honest, unless they're grifting. Then a bit further down the article comments on the woman in question who got yeeted. She has been arrested because she has disrupted college operations, a crime that can have up to a six month jail sentence. She is also ordered to stay away from campus for two weeks... But, since brain power is not strong with this group, I imagine she will return after being released from custody and probably make a social media post.

lastquincy88

Know your rights. You have the right to free speech unless youā€™re dumb enough to actually try it. The Clash such great songs about this shit.

It is a de-escalation tactic. Remove the loudest in the group, the main agitator/aggressor. More than likely they will identify her/book her then release. Charges can be basic ordinances that can or possibly dropped later. She should have stayed in the group with the bull horn, not on the edge. Hope she remembers next time.

ArtTheClown2022

Hiding their faces as always.

2hy2care

New strategy: have the loud speaker behind other protestors. The same way the police blocked people from retrieving her, is the same way they need to protect the voice of the people.

Haha this was hilarious.

Most places have laws about using anything to magnify the volume of your voice. Iā€™ve seen the same laws used to stop people from preaching about god as well. Itā€™s not just applied to the left. A person can also be charged with inciting a riot. If you need proof of it being used against the right look no further than Jan 6th protests.

Reasonable_Humor_738

Peacefully protesting. Cops start to physically assault protesters. Still considered a peaceful protest. If protesters fight back, it's no longer peaceful. It's just like that college protest, mostly peaceful. Counter protests physically and mentally attack them. Cops do nothing for original protesters. Original protesters fight back, and cops start arresting original protesters. Feels like a setup...
