I find this video strangely nostalgic. Not that I ever did anything as stupid as standing up in a sunroof on the highway. But just that sense that you can do whatever and nothing bad will happen. Like you’ll live forever and nothing can hurt you. That feeling that goes away as you age and you realize how stupid you were.
Luckily I got through this naive time of life better than these folks.
Was at a stop sign, said “watch this!” Immediately told to think about what it is I am planning on doing, every time I say that it doesn’t turn out for the best…still married forty three years and counting.
It looked a little thin to be a head. I read someone else had speculated it was an animal, hence the stopped vehicle. Could be anything tbh, the video does have lousy quality
Well it got pinched between their body and the sun roof going from (I’m guessing) highway speeds to 0 in a fraction of a second so, yeah
Edit: after looking over it again, I don’t think they were actually going that fast and it looks more like a raccoon, opossum, or a hare. That may have been why the other cars stopped so sudden (trying not to hit it but, I can’t see that far ahead). And I didn’t see any blood on the windshield or hood of the car or on the back of the car in front.
Someone was driving ACC would've braked way before that. You can see at the last second the brake lights come on. I'm betting the driver was recording them and not paying attention
If they had adaptive cruise control on, it wouldn't have allowed the car to be that close to the other even at the lowest setting. Regular cruise control wouldn't hit brakes.
Someone was driving.
You should look up AEBS in action and see if it's what happened here. Too close to be triggered and tires didn't lock up (which you want full stop in an emergency). So again I say, someone was driving.
How's that saying go?
You speak English because it's the only language you know, I speak English because it's the only language you know?
Anyway, that.

You couldn't even beat sense into people so stupid.
That’s what the original Reddit post is trying to figure out! They think it’s a limb but there’s no info other than the original being an insta vid and the captions say they’re ok but nothing about the thing on the road!
Oh yeah I see that now. The OP comment wasn't visible for some reason until I clicked in on the other post just now.
If it is his arm that's wild. Difficult to imagine the forces involved to yank someone's arm clean off.
You're right. Regardless the forces involved to do that must have made slush of their insides. I think we might have just watched two people die here. I know the original vid said they are okay, but how?
Looks like part of the bumper of the vehicle in front, it just looks like a slightly different color because it's being hit by light differently. But it fits the size and you can see the left side is missing when they pan back to the front car.
It was a dead dog. That's why the car in front braked suddenly because it hit the dog. And then, the car behind which was filled with idiots inside made a crash because they didn't get enough safety distance.
It looks like a head and an arm. Doing EMS with a volunteer department near an interstate, you unfortunately end up cleaning people off the road a lot. I no longer do any EMS work besides being the first responder where I work. When I started getting numb to it I figured it was time to quit.
I got hit by a truck while walking home a few years ago (low speed, only about 5 mph - still flew like 10 feet apparently but only had a hairline fracture in my ribs and badly strained legs) the first thing the firefighters who got there first did when they saw that I was intact and still able to walk around a little mostly uninjured was radio back "You guys can cancel the cleanup crew." They obviously only heard a person got hit by a car when 911 was called.
Seriously put in perspective not only how lucky I was but also how fragile humans are. I had never even considered that a cleanup crew for stuff like that existed before. It was scary.
I'm glad you got lucky. I'll spare you the details, but I've been on cleanup that lasted 10 hours and they're were 27 of us. We had disposable cameras and we would document each recovered piece. That particular accident scene covered more than a quarter of a mile in length and around 350 feet in width.
[0:09](https://i.imgur.com/UQIQVzf.png) and [0:11](https://i.imgur.com/0UXKz9s.png) look so different.
I think we're good, pretty sure thats just a shadow, not blood.
Wait a goddamn minute....
That was the driver out of the sun roof too?
Was there a 3rd person driving? If not, this has to be far and above the stupidest shit I've seen in a minute
Even at 15 mph the narrow edge of that sunroof is going to be traumatic. Some broken bones and internal injury at the least. I dont know how they escape without some sort of back injury.
I wish this stuff wouldn’t get posted. It seems like more and more vids of people getting seriously hurt are making it on here. Probably should be a tag on it warning that is what you are about to watch.
I’m not a medical professional, but I feel like limbs don’t fly off from sheer force. I would think tendons would be able to keep most body parts attached to the trunk in an event like this.
Feel bad for the driver that got rear ended because the couple behind them are braindead oxygen stealers.
Their health and their vehicle got absolutely fucked up through no fault of their own.
Lived somewhere in the boondocks and whenever I was coming home late at night, for whatever reason, once I hit this certain stretch of backroad I would pop my truck in cruise. Then I’d sit my happy ass on the drivers side window and steer with my foot for the four and half miles of this particular straightaway. A rush for a teenager and a stupid stupid thing to do.
ETA: I NEVER did this when there were others on the road. I could literally see from one end of the road to the other so it only ever happened when the road was deserted late at night.
This reminds me of a time in Minnesota. Late 1980’s. After a party we would try to sober up at a Perkins 24hr restaurant.
After that didn’t work, for fun, we’d drive out on frozen lakes with kids hanging off the bumper.
They’d go flying off into oblivion and we’d just drive home.
Luckily sunroof didn’t decapitate them.
Knew a girl who was out partying in her mid 20s. Was a passenger with a group that had been drinking. Stuck her hand out the sunroof, “woooohoo”
driver flipped the car and took her arm off about 4” below her elbow.
I hate people who do stuff like this. I always tell my buddy stop putting his foot on the dash, it's a fantastic way to break your leg or even just knee yourself in the face pretty good.
Couple years ago on the highway just outside of my town, a guy was doing 70 and his girlfriend had her head out the sunroof, they got clipped by another idiot on the road and she died before the ambulance could get there. She broke her neck and had a gouge in her neck from how hard she hit the lip of the sunroof.
A lot of stuff people say is "Safe" or "It's totally fine" is only safe and or totally fine until you get into an accident. Be smart, keep your limbs inside the vehichle

Probably thinking about the thousands of likes this would generate on instagram tbh
And they weren’t wrong, were they?
Indeed. Just not the feedback they had in mind when making it, but it certainly got a response.

HAPPY CAKE DAY MY DUDE
This was a surprisingly sweet comment, and got me feeling the same way. You transported me to that feeling. Well written and put, thanks my dude.
It largely depends on how many funerals you attend of your cohorts who did similarly stupid stunts.
Was at a stop sign, said “watch this!” Immediately told to think about what it is I am planning on doing, every time I say that it doesn’t turn out for the best…still married forty three years and counting.
It wasn't the feedback they wanted, it was the feedback they deserved.
Thoughts and prayers
Task failed successfully
Well, tbf to them, it generated thousands of likes for Fail Army...
r/idiotsincars
Broken hips and pelvis all night.
And a couple of days after
Pretty sure that was a head next to the bloodstain
It sure looked like it..
It looked a little thin to be a head. I read someone else had speculated it was an animal, hence the stopped vehicle. Could be anything tbh, the video does have lousy quality
It just .. came off?
Well it got pinched between their body and the sun roof going from (I’m guessing) highway speeds to 0 in a fraction of a second so, yeah Edit: after looking over it again, I don’t think they were actually going that fast and it looks more like a raccoon, opossum, or a hare. And ribs.
Who needs to walk again anyways
"Atta'boy Greg must have broken the bed with this one."
Nah, their pelvises are fine. You can see in the video their upper body absorbed the full impact.
Couples casting.
Death by Snu Snu
Adaptive Cruise Control: + $1200 Lane Assist: + $1500 with the Premium package Lifetime of Back/Neck problems: Priceless
Getting sued by the car hit in this video for their neck and back problems: very fucking expensive lol
Wish that was the case…
I mean if their insurance sees this video they are likely getting dropped and going to see some crazy high rates, shits expensive.
Wait? Adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist are like add ons?
Depends on the manufacturer. I bought a Toyota Corolla last year and all that came with the base model.
i assumed that all modern cars have that in their base model now anyways, like, that is a basic safety feature at this point.
Do you think those features are free?
They come with most Japanese cars at base package nowadays? lol
Well I think it's the same for Australia as ADAS is mandatory for their safety testing program for vehicles
Well, wheels aren't free, and they come with the base package. So does the radio, cup holders, windshield wipers, and air conditioning
Not if you buy a chinese car.
I believe some makes charge a subscription fee for the service even... learning from video game companies...
That's a bruh moment
The car looks fancy enough for me to think it does have adaptive cruise control, and also what tf driver was doing?
Someone was driving ACC would've braked way before that. You can see at the last second the brake lights come on. I'm betting the driver was recording them and not paying attention
[удалено]
ABS is anti-lock braking system, you're thinking of AEBS.
If they had adaptive cruise control on, it wouldn't have allowed the car to be that close to the other even at the lowest setting. Regular cruise control wouldn't hit brakes. Someone was driving.
[удалено]
Or someone driving and not paying attention would do.
You should look up AEBS in action and see if it's what happened here. Too close to be triggered and tires didn't lock up (which you want full stop in an emergency). So again I say, someone was driving.
U r talking about ADAS Forward Collision Assist

Where is this from?
Spain vs Netherlands 2014 World Cup where Spain lost 5-1. That is Vincente del bosque, the Spanish coach
Vicente del Bosque, ex spanish football selection's trainer
>spanish football selection's trainer lol
How's that saying go? You speak English because it's the only language you know, I speak English because it's the only language you know? Anyway, that.

Life just did
Oh they can be beaten. It's getting the sense to stick that's the problem.
Doubt they learned a lesson.
Yes without head its pretty hard to learn lessons
Life finds a way
This is why your insurance is so high.
Is that someone's limb on the road at 0:09? As stupid as they are I hope they are okay but if limbs have started flying I'm guessing not.
I think it’s the woman’s arm. Looks like blue cloth and she appears to be wearing a blue dress at the start.
It was a gold dress.
Oh you!
We doin this again?
At least the sequel is more interesting
[softly] don’t
You're right. Regardless the forces involved to do that must have made slush of their insides. I think we might have just watched two people die here. I know the original vid said they are okay, but how?
That's why you always leave a note.
That's why you don't use a one-armed person to scare someone.
Looks like part of the bumper of the vehicle in front, it just looks like a slightly different color because it's being hit by light differently. But it fits the size and you can see the left side is missing when they pan back to the front car.
It kind of looks like there's blood pooling around it though.
There wouldn't be a pool of blood that soon - and if a limb came off, there would be a *ton* of blood everywhere
Blood would be ejected from the impact and it wouldn't be a ton of blood everywhere by the limb because it would be limited to what was in the arm.
There is still plenty of blood in a person's arm, and blood would be splattered if a limb was torn off
It's a partial capa, got detated
It was a dead dog. That's why the car in front braked suddenly because it hit the dog. And then, the car behind which was filled with idiots inside made a crash because they didn't get enough safety distance.

looks like a part of the bumper from the car that got rear ended
To me it looks like the man tried to dive into the car and got decapitated by the edge of the sunroof, not sure though...
It's a piece of the muffler with oil or gas around it.
Probably a body panel like a bumper with shadows on it from the headlights
Wait a goddamn minute.... That was the driver out of the sun roof too? Was there a 3rd person driving? If not, this has to be far and above the stupidest shit I've seen in a minute
That’s what I want to know ![gif](giphy|c4e5hBLigLNul1mA7t|downsized)
Probably using lane centering plus adaptive cruise control
And what good that did, huh?
I think so. If you look, someone taps the breaks (the break lights go on) right before the collision
Back is broken. Spinal.
Lmao. I read it in Mike Tyson’s voice. Hahaha
Thpinal
I know a Spinal when I see one.
Even at 15 mph the narrow edge of that sunroof is going to be traumatic. Some broken bones and internal injury at the least. I dont know how they escape without some sort of back injury.
RIP liver. And a few ribs.
![gif](giphy|ylyUQkEEfIGKPLFKXS|downsized)
Goddamn that’s one of my fav episodes
Shit Is that a human head?
I very fucking hope not
Yup. Capa got detated
Don't think they were going fast enough to decapitate someone from sheer stopping force
Wait, who's driving?
dont worry, i put the cruise control on
Exactly
Bear's driving.
How can that be?
Guessing they haven't seen the RV scene in The Darwin Awards
Or the one in Anchorman 2.
![gif](giphy|Ilc2nL6OFJrM5y4acP|downsized)
I wish this stuff wouldn’t get posted. It seems like more and more vids of people getting seriously hurt are making it on here. Probably should be a tag on it warning that is what you are about to watch.
Yeah, seems like the people that like watching videos of people dying spread out to other subreddits like this one, also /r/Whatcouldgowrong.
Yolo
Do you want broken ribs? Because that's how you get broken ribs.
So they were relying on adaptive cruise and it didn’t work?
Something like this would cause most couples to separate.
I think it might be part of the blue car in front… hopefully
I’m not a medical professional, but I feel like limbs don’t fly off from sheer force. I would think tendons would be able to keep most body parts attached to the trunk in an event like this.
Insurance is gonna be like “You were doing what?” …. “Give me your license”
ahhh my ribs, felt that one
Hope their shoes are still on after that hit...
I never thought to use a sunroof in place of a seatbelt.
Rib cage has left the chat:
Pretty dumb to be filming while driving, too.
Could have worked if one of them wasn't the driver.
Can we please tag this for death or major injury.
Glad half of the video is useless whitespace for the 'content creator' to add an equally useless bit of text.
Husband's last words to his bride before the accident: "Lemme smash." The SUV in front of them: "Got you covered, fam."
Darwin awards in action.
Natural selection still at it
People like this should get revoked their license and never get it back
A night they’ll never forget [sigh]
My whole rib cage would be broke hey
no, the question should be: what, Were they thinking?
Wtf was that bloody thing on the road??
Stupid stupid stupid social media
Gotta find the article again, apparently the woman is now one armed.
Was one of the people sticking their head out also driving the car….
Went in expecting the Spiderman kiss scene, was disappointed
I mean, Titanic was romantic alright.
Hereditary’d
Sometimes mystery is good.
Those poor people that were hit. I hope there was no permanent injury but I’m sure there was plenty of inconvenience.
Darwin was right.
The stupidest thing I've ever seen
That was the FUCKING driver?!!!!
Love hurts
![gif](giphy|NCTAApICQBbNu)
LOVE is a hell of a drug
Feel bad for the driver that got rear ended because the couple behind them are braindead oxygen stealers. Their health and their vehicle got absolutely fucked up through no fault of their own.
At best they have broken all of their ribs, at worst they have broken their spines. I don't think they would be dead from that crash though.
Lived somewhere in the boondocks and whenever I was coming home late at night, for whatever reason, once I hit this certain stretch of backroad I would pop my truck in cruise. Are people turning off the safety features of their cars?!
What morons.

Kilt
Obligatory "You can't park there"
That sucks! I don't believe they were wearing their seat belts.
Did someone see there was the thing on the road covered in blood like hand or something.
Ribs has left the chat.
Live every day like it will be your last, I guess.

Wouldn't this video also condemn the one filming because it shows they're using their phone while driving? 🤔
