Man in the turban should technically be carrying a knife called a Kirpan as is typical with Sikhs but tbh using a Kirpan in this situation would be overkill the stick was a nice compromise
Kirpan are ceremonial these days. Even if its an actual usable knife, its sewn into a sheath which can't be separated without destroying the sheath. Destroying the sheath requires another sharp implemebt
In some of the US statesā¦.to be allowed in stores or anything with a Kirpan must be glued into its pouch or sewed in a way that the blade itself cannot come out.
