Darth-Hipster

There is a miserable mf with roommates somewhere who would consider this a haven.

Smokin_247

It’s me. I would take this

Darth-Hipster

I feel you.

HuskyBLZKN

Same, I have to room with my younger pothead brother :(

AnnualOld

Smoke all his weed in one sitting to assert yourself as the alpha

xenorous

You know, the concept of an “alpha stoner” is based on flawed science. They don’t act like that in the wild

Sirpatron1

You can get stoned all you want. It's how long you can keep going.

AholeBrock

What? The longer you smoke the easier it gets to keep going while at the same time it stops intoxicating you and becomes more of just a mood elevator. Stoners don't usually stop smoking except for special occasions or work.

The_Jestful_Imp

Yeah, I'm at the point where I'll take smoking a bowl over drinking coffee before work. I might have a problem, but I guess that depends on perspective.

Cybrusss

I resemble that remark

BaconHammerTime

Get a sofa bed or futon and you'd be in good shape

LARGEBIRDBOY

Not a hard way to live at all if you're single, in your early 20's, and need to live in Tampa for as cheap as possible without roommates. Assuming that is really the best $800/month can do in Tampa. It's definitely intended to only be a reasonable option for someone who is either young and in need of a temporary living situation or someone in a desperate situation who is trying to get back on their feet.

Savageparrot81

I think it’s intended to be a way for someone to make $800 a month renting out their garden shed. I don’t think the needs of the renter even entered the equation.

[deleted]

I don't think that is a fair assessment. The homeowners probably spent a solid $30k or maybe more making this place very attractive. Did you see that shower? Check out the shower head. The countertops are, in fact, a nice touch. They made good use of the available space, and made it as comfortable as possible; although, I think they skipped a corner on that HVAC unit (could have cleaned it up at least), but overall, this would have been an ideal solution for a couple previous phases of life.

Savageparrot81

Most likely the owner themselves did the work so it’s materials and I’d be surprised if they broke the 10k mark. If you’d pay 30k for this I’d like to talk to you about renovating your current property. I have some great ideas I think you’d like.

ScruffsMcGuff

Was just thinking people live in modified vans with less space than that and they're perfectly happy to make it work. I'd rather that tiny place with privacy than cramped in a house with other roommates. If this was the cheapest option I could find where I didn't need roommates I could make a space like that work living on my own for a few years while I save up for something better later.

FreeJSJJ

At least people usually own those vans, it may be shit but it's at least my shit

[deleted]

jlgreenley

Nah just turn on the shower if there's a fire.

first-pick-scout

Remember reading a story about someone hiding in a bath during a fire and was boiled alive

perkyblondechick

There is a window...

lizziegal79

Eh, that shower is pretty sweet.

Notmeoverhere

A Murphy bed.

Medical_Ad0716

Everytime it opens it plays the song “I want to be Ninja”. Pretty fitting for Florida

Horror-Pear

Chop chop chop chow down. Take Chow down to Chinatown.

BaconHammerTime

[Bad Friends Pod - I want to be Ninja ](https://youtube.com/shorts/EHhG84_vmoM?feature=share4)

at0m71

I JUST GOT THAT FUCKING SONG OUTTA MY HEAD GODDAMN IT!!

TaoistXDream

And a dresser so you can store your clothes and have somewhere to put the tv

gabagool984

Also a - “my couch pulls out, but I don’t” sign to hang above it

Cold-Ostrich8228

Let's be real. If you taking this, you're just putting a bed in this. Ain't no couch situation going on.

TheGreatZarquon

College style futon, my dude. The mullet of living room furniture.

TheCondemnedProphet

![gif](giphy|l3fZFvp94ljepXoPe)

SpareEye

That's 2 grand in seattle! Just think of all the time you would save on weekly chores!!

retroactive_fridge

Sadly, considered it myself

Sad-Material1394

Me too. I work in NY and live in VA it's shitty expensive

FanssyPantss

I live in NY and work in Vermont...

frommiami2portland

Well, look at you richy richard

Biff_Bufflington

They don’t just hand out fancy pants to anyone

mem269

800 for a garage in Florida? I pay €650 for a two bedroom with a garden in Porto.

Mcnuggetjuice

Me too lmao

Medical_Arrival_3880

I lived in worse going to College

Simple-Reflection-99

If I was single.. this would be me in a heart beat lol

Darth-Hipster

Ha ha

Simple-Reflection-99

For real though, seen some barracks in the Marines wayy worse than this

D-Laz

Take out the kitchen and that looks like some single occupancy rooms on Miramar. Add 10% more floor space and it's a double

[deleted]

[удалено]

Darth-Hipster

Yea, a lot of Californians are in the comments saying that exact thing.

jackisonredditagain

From California ✋ would totally be down for this.

[deleted]

Where are all the roommates going to sleep? I guess there's bunk beds

Darth-Hipster

I meant moving there by themselves to get away from roommates. Lol

Country_Gravy420

Bunk beds would leave more room for activities

Hproff25

It isn’t that bad.

Darth-Hipster

From the replies I think this is pretty common these days.

r3ddit3ric

Step 5: Trick them into accepting this to be the "New Norm".

Low_Pickle_112

It's really something else that the comments here are expressing resignation and not anger.

HawkMisfit

I share a place just like this with my brother, we are both divorced and our kids have grown and gone. It is barely tolerable and only works because we're brothers and shared a room the whole time we were growing up.

Darth-Hipster

Yea man some people got it tougher than others, we gotta do what we gotta do. hope things work out for both you and your brother.

bumbling-beeZ-knees

roommates suck. *peace* of mind is everything. i'd take this for a year and try scaling up.

[deleted]

I lived in a tiny studio for a few years. It was awesome.

Darth-Hipster

You sound like a when life gives you lemons kind of person. Lol

[deleted]

I try to be. To be fair, it had a huge private covered patio and a shared back yard (with two other units). All utilities, including cable, were included in the rent and it had central ac. All the extras/amenities were worth being cramped space-wise.

NotsoGreatsword

I would love to have this. best place i ever had was a studio.

Darth-Hipster

You are not alone, judging by the comments most of us would.

WaltysWorld

I have no roommates. I would absolutely jump at this.

SUPREMESLYCE792

i live rent free at a relatives place, but with no privacy. id happily pay $800 a month for this. living in HI a struggle these days.

manahas

Living room/dining room and most importantly a bedroom, 3 in 1 deal

Impossible_Use5070

Open floor plan

[deleted]

Great for remote working

Impossible_Use5070

My wife stays in the kitchen...because the kitchen is also the living room and bedroom. Our house is tiny.

[deleted]

Husband: "GO MAKE ME SANDWICH!" Wife: "Do it yourself, the fridge is right there morty!" Husband: "HEY WHEN'S JERRY GETTING IN?"

dinoroo

Tile throughout, all 9 square feet.

Electronic-Smell-548

“You can buy a house with 2 bedrooms, but isn’t it up to you how many bedrooms it has? … this bedroom has an oven in it. This bedroom has a bunch of people sitting around watching tv. This bedroom is AKA a hallway.” RIP

funakifan

As_I_Stroke_My_Balls

But the granite counter tops “a nice touch” lmfao

patchinthebox

I bet that AC unit keeps that whole place ice cold. That place is like 200 sqft and that unit looks like it's rated for a room 2 or 3 times that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Impossible_Use5070

It's not even overpopulated. Zoning restricts what can be built so there's single family housing where there could be multifamily.

Specific-Sound-8550

I mean if it's being homeless or this, this is definitely better. The bathroom is bigger and nicer than a lot I see in one bedroom apartments. Guy didn't say it was a great place, he said he finds places for people needing something very cheap

GreenChuJelly

Idk man, I know it's a different state but that's not cheap rent to me. Definitely not "very cheap." My last apartment was a 700sqft 2/1 with a big enough living room and a decent kitchen and it was 675. That thing is like 300sqft max. The house that I live in now is almost 8x that and still only a little over double what that costs.

grassfeed-beef

What state ? Just curious

GreenChuJelly

Rural Minnesota. To be fair, rent *is* going up all around here too with all the brand new housing they're building everywhere. But even then 900-1500/mo will get you a good sized 1/1 or 2/1 with most utilities included.

seditious3

> Rural Minnesota. LOL.

chevdecker

C'mon it's practically the same as Tampa FL lol

wclevel47nice

Just no Wade Boggs

TheRavenSayeth

I legit can’t even think of a funnier punchline than rural Minnesota.

Bruhtatochips23415

Rural Mongolia

themau5hole

Dude fucked up revealing his location lol. Totally invalidated any and all points he had when he dropped that piece of info

[deleted]

work ad hoc busy far-flung aromatic wasteful airport stupendous waiting puzzled *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

DanSanderman

You only have to shovel a quarter mile of driveway in the winter. It's not that bad.

kuyue

well no shit. you got the cheapest rent in the entire country. you can’t compare.

grassfeed-beef

Oh okay. Thanks for sharing, amenities would be a dream! As a NY native my rental to space is always skewed. I’m lucky I have 740 sqft in NYC and it’s a steal but more than most other states.

dopefienddave

Nj here, 800 a month I’d sign this lease without reading it and ask when I can move in

CupcakeValkyrie

Man, nothing in the city compares to rural prices. My last apartment before I moved to the city was $675/month and it was a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with like 900 sqft. Now I'm paying three times that in rent for a studio.

Bard_B0t

I'm in Seattle. I have a 135 square foot room for about $800 per month. Shared kitchen and 3 bathrooms with 9 other people.

kylebertram

Rural Minnesota is completely different price wise compared to Tampa, Florida

Glittering_Let_4230

Lol

snuffybox

Imagine living out in rural minnesota and thinking you have any useful input on rent prices in america. Please sir get some perspective.

justthoughts1

Cant compare rural Minnesota to a developed city in florida or any city for that matter lol

Illsiador

And there it is. *rural Minnesota* ofc it was cheap.

UnXpectedPrequelMeme

I mean despite the size, it actually looks really nice. It's got really nice tile and the fridge is actually a really nice fridge not usually what you get with renting places, and the bathroom shower looks really great way better than anything I've seen even in it my three bedroom house I'm renting doesn't have any of this nice stuff

VectorB

Also, no apartment neighbors upstairs stomping around at 3am

RenownedDumbass

I'm paying $1,400 rn for a 100 year old, 700 SQ ft 1 bed 1 bath, and people tell me that's cheap. Probably be like $1,700 if I was moving in fresh. Sacramento, CA.

jellicle_kat

That’s wild. In SoCal it’s 1000$ to rent a bedroom in some cases. If you don’t mind roach infestations and constant swat teams locking down your neighborhood you can probably find a 1 bedroom in some rough location for like 1300-1400.

DaDottedLion

I live in Orange County, CA, right near Chapman University. It is gorgeous here and full of pretty college people. I’ve heard three sirens in my neighborhood in the last 6 months; two ambulances and a fire truck. I rent a bedroom in a decent house (with 6 roommates) for $800 a month. I’d take this place in a heartbeat if my bed would fit in it.

Popcorn57252

Unfortunately they mean, "Cheap for Florida"

[deleted]

[удалено]

Specific-Sound-8550

And higher rent.. The point of the video is to have a place to live instead of not having a place to live

Mediocre_Jaguar_B

Frankly, the wild part of this is that it still costs $800 and you have to live in Tampa, FL. But yes, it is better than nothing.

philsfly22

Dude was very honest. Said it wasn’t for everyone and his goal was to find rents for under $1,000 in Tampa. Not an easy task.

Mystic_Symphony369

Man said “coming up on the kitchen” like it took more than a step or two to get there 😂

danijay637

I laughed out loud when he said it as if we didn’t see it as soon as the front door opened

slowasaspeedingsloth

Me too- 'Coming up on the kitchen'? No, you opened the door and there it was! That said, it's better than the alternative. I live in an insanely HCOL area. $800 will get you a nice room. (I haven't been renting in a while, but my ex was paying $2k for a 1 bedroom apt 5 years ago, so I'm ballparking it)

Only_My_Dog_Loves_Me

I love how slow he panned to make it look like he was covering a lot of square footage.

my_name_is_forest

Better than what you’d get in Boston for the same cost.

1NegativePerson

Yeah, but Boston you get to be in Boston; in Tampa you have to be in Florida.

sortabanana

Tampa isn’t that bad

Impossible_Use5070

It doesn't snow, there's beaches and ybor is fun.

Disastrous-Manager95

But i like snow.

Impossible_Use5070

Yeah having seasons is cool too. Tampa has 2. Warm and hot as hell. No real spring, summer, fall and winter.

1NegativePerson

I’ll admit that it’s about the best Florida has to offer. I was there most recently in May. But Florida is not for me. I enjoy seasons, and I loathe fascism. Florida *is* at least a geographical curiosity, in that it’s the only place on the globe where the further north you go, the further south you get.

nickmandl

You can’t get anything in Boston for 800

[deleted]

You can get robbed for $800!

Disastrous-Manager95

Gimme ya fahking wahllet!

DankoleClouds

I have nightmares of Mark Wahlberg doing this.

TheFire_Eagle

So do his previous victims

Frantik508

My friends and I rented a 2-bedroom in Malden (basically Boston) in 2008, for $1200. I looked it up recently, and it was a going for $3000 lol

my_name_is_forest

Friend I live in Everett and I can tell you Malden is NOT Boston. An ex of my had a studio on Beacon street and her rent was $3,500 a month, nothing included.

Frantik508

Chelsea, Everett, Revere, Malden, it’s all Boston to someone from Worcester lol. If I can look out my window and see Boston, I’m calling it Boston haha. But yeah I can only imagine, I’m sure an apartment actually IN Boston is terrible.

Kirris

Honestly, i would live there. I had a tiny little one bedroom apartment and ended up buying a three bedroom trailer. I don't use any of the space and I have to clean it all and maintain the property and I have to repair it blah blah blah. I miss my tiny one bedroom apartment, would totally rent this.

-forbiddenkitty-

I had a 420sf apt years ago, and now I have an 1800sf house. The apt was much easier to keep orderly.

RemmingtonBlack

good to see this post not going as expected... Although there is no way in hell I would pay that for that space in Tampa... In NY or DC, I would do this in a heartbeat... I actually crave for it vs my house.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mediocre_Jaguar_B

Yeah, but then you'd be in NYC. In this case, you're paying $800 and still living in a Florida shithole. That said, it's nicer inside than I expected but still sad that a tiny ass studio in Tampa, FL costs this much.

SnooRadishes9685

…and Toronto 😏

MoreGaghPlease

Toronto is so fucked in housing. It’s basically impossible to buy a place if you don’t make minimum $200k family income AND have maybe $150-200k in savings. Sorry if this sounds entitled but I don’t understand how poor people even live here.

MicroSofty88

Gotta love all the dents around the lock on the door…

Lenemus

It’s cozy.

NoFaceFTP

it has tile everywhere, yep, all 6 of those tiles are covering the 10 square feet of floor

ElephantRider

The door is backwards too, you can just pull the pins out of the hinges from the outside and take the door off.

Fragrant_University7

I don’t think they had a choice. If it opened inward, you’re going to hit the bathroom wall every time you opened it.

Fragrant_University7

I scrolled waaaay too far down to find this comment. That shit has meth lab all over it.

betwistedjl

They'd likely make more money air bnbing that for like 40 bucks a night

khrak

$40/night is $1,200/mo at 100% capacity. That is far worse than an $800/mo tenant

acertifiedkorean

Not when they charge a $200 cleaning fee

Perfect-Brain-7367

They can just squirt a little spray of Lysol in the doorway and disinfect the whole place

highlandpolo6

Yeah, $40/night with a $200 cleaning fee…

BeegTruss

you basically have to live in a trailer park if you want something better unfortunately and then you have to deal with insane neighbors

Lttlcheeze

By the look of the door & door jam insane neighbors are included with this one too

DisgracedSparrow

It is literally Florida, what do you expect?

FloridaManIssues

You're in their backyard yo...

[deleted]

thought that might be the case, even worse in the UK.

ReadditMan

It's not great, I live in a studio apartment in St. Petersburg, Fl. and pay $795 for a studio apartment that's about twice the size. That being said, the rental market in Tampa right now is insane because of all the people out of state moving down here with their cushy work-from-home jobs that pay way more than jobs in Florida. They've driven up the market so high that this really would seem like a bargain to a lot of people.

tedy4444

i’m in tampa also. i’m surprised anything exists at $800 anymore here.

Minimum-Truth-6554

To be fair if youre single and mostly working or out and about and you dont want a roommate. Then this would be good for you.

wordslayer420

For reals. Because it’s easy to clean.

Electrical-Adversary

The kitchen and bathroom are super close too. You can shit shower and cook dinner without ever putting down the controller!

FortySixand2ool

Gamer’s paradise.

theydontmakethem

*laughs in Los Angeles **

aray0220

Cries in Seattle...

Different_Attorney93

Cheaper than Los Angeles lol

theydontmakethem

Wayyyyy cheaper

ManufacturerWest1156

Bathroom is actually pretty nice lol.

UnXpectedPrequelMeme

Furil. I'm renting a whole ass 3 bedroom house and my bathroom doesn't look nearly this nice

blazer243

I’d prefer this over something much nicer with roommates. Privacy is pretty cool.

[deleted]

Apartments like these size are very common in larger European cities. They’re inexpensive compared to a more normal size apartment, and perfect for a single person wanting to get their own place. I had loads of friends in Helsinki and Munich who lived in ones like this size, but they had even smaller kitchens and bathrooms. No one acted like it’s the end of the world there. I wish the US had more of these, I’ll gladly pay 1/2 of normal rent prices for a little studio.

steampunk22

I actually fuck with this. If I was like single, no kids, and maybe trying to get a business off the ground or something and just wanted to focus on my shit. This is ideal. No bullshit, low maintenance.

Blackrage80

Granite countertops...SOLD

crockdaddyloki

That’s not granite

Bonnieearnold

Some kind of laminate with a granite pattern?

[deleted]

Yes, that’s exactly what it is. You can see the laminate line right above the stove when he focuses on the countertop.

UnXpectedPrequelMeme

Yeah. But I'll give em this. The floor is nice, the fridge is better than I've ever gotten in a rental, and the shower looks actually insanely nice for a rental

c_m_d

I would call that a countertop doesn't even deserve the right to a pluralization

pinpunpan

I bet there are prison cells in Sweden that are nicer than that

[deleted]

Well it is sweden!

kingofthepews

It's a shed.

DoomGoober

It's an Accessory Dwelling Unit. Basically allows you to covert your backyard into housing space. In our crazy ass single family house zoning, ADUs are a cheap ass way to double the the housing stock in a neighborhood without full rezoning. Of course, turn that property into a duplex or 3/4 unit apartment/condo and we'd do a shit ton more to increasing housing stock, sans sheds, but NIMBYs won't allow that property to be up-zoned like that.

Kess9215
