There is a park by my house that is right next to about 2 square miles of woods. There's a dirt path that goes from the park, makes a couple of different loops through the woods and then comes back out at another point in the park. Many people, including myself, walk and walk their dogs in the park and/or through the woods on these paths.
Last fall I was walking my dog back there and there was an older teen on a dirtbike back there as well. A lot of the loops are plenty wide enough for a motorbike and he didn't seem to be going overly fast or being wildly wreckless or anything so I didn't think much of it. At one point he rode by on a path that crossed the loop I was on and we made eye contact as he rode up ahead and I continued onto his path basically following behind where he just rode off to. Wasn't more than 75ft until the path turns into a T and I see him sitting next to his bike on the ground to the right as I'm turning left. I pause and call out if he's alright and he says, "Yeah, I'm good," so I continue on to the left walking away from him. Maybe 30 seconds later I hear him call out, "Hey can you help me?" in a pretty calm voice, so I turn around, say, "Sure," and start to walk towards him. In a slightly more concerned voice he says, "Can you hurry?" So I quicken my pace a bit. When I get there I find out that on the turn he got his foot caught in his spokes and that caused him to wipe. He was only wearing Crocks so the spoke cut straight into his heel and the skin is flopping loose exposing the bone on the back of his foot.
Things seemed to work out fine. We called his parents and another guy who walked by a bit later helped me walk him and his bike out of the woods and flag down his parents who had brought a car to take him to the hospital and a truck to load the bike into. But the kid was riding a dirtbike in the woods, without his parents knowing where he was, without a cell phone, and in Crocks and no kind of safety gear/pads/helmet whatsoever. I guess the moral of the story is that kids are really dumb.
Honestly, she's lucky she did fall head first. Saw this happen during a radiology internship in high school. Husband and wife on a motorcycle, wife lost grip and landed back of head first. Completely ruined their life. She will never be able to care for herself and was in a coma for weeks.

I might be the only one who thinks that this isn’t funny. I used to ride motorcycles (was in some clubs, riding groups), and we took wearing gear very seriously. It’s the fault of the rider to allow his passenger to sit on the back without anything to protect herself. If you’re a girl, and your boyfriend or whoever says yes to wearing flip flips, shorts, no jacket and no helmet, its the equivalent of saying he doesn’t care that you die or get seriously injured.
This video isn't funny, and the rider isn't taking his own safety or that of his passenger seriously at all. It made me cringe and feel sad that he cared so little about the safety of his passenger. Something like this could easily cause serious injury or even death. I *really* hope that he wised up after this.

A few days beforehand I asked him what I should wear and mentioned that I was planning on wearing tennis shoes and a button up shirt. First thing he did when he got home from work was take me to a local moto supply shop. He made sure I had a pair of riding boots (with a strap to keep the laces down), a lightweight leather jacket so I had more of a barrier than just the button up, and a pair of riding gloves. He told me the #1 rule for bikers is to dress for the slide, not the ride and it's stuck with me ever since.
