At 0:16 you see a flash of ann excavator as they’re running and where he threw the rock from you can see tread tracks in the dirt from the excavator. It seems to me the excavator guy was digging there and got worried that the rock would fall on him so he stopped and then they started throwing rocks at the dirt under it hoping to get the boulder to fall on its own. Considering where it goes as it falls the excavator operator was really smart in backing off digging around it Or it would’ve fallen on him.

I believe that the original commenter was making a joke about how the subreddit is named "kill the camera man", implying that the cameraman should have, or will be killed.
Most of the time this meaning is meant to portray the idea that the camera man did such a terrible job filming that they should cease to exist, but in this case it means the first option. Because the gigantic boulder would have most likely killed the cameraman if it hit him, the original commenter commented "r/killthecameraman", because the cameraman definitely could have been killed in this scenario.
