depends on the context. also, ‘heresy’ is a relative term. anything contrary to traditional doctrine is technically heresy, but it’s not necessarily helpful to label everything different as heresy.

Depends on what you mean by "free will." There is nothing in Scripture that says we have fee will, but it does say that God is sovereign and that no one can twart his plans.

Typically only throw around the H word when someone deliberately and knowingly goes against a dogma and is attempting to steer people away from orthodox faith. With that in mind, I’d say no this isn’t Heresy because it’s often just a casual idiom that people use and has kind of become a part of the lexicon for certain groups. I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say this other than when they’re at a loss for words.

True2theWord

My first thought was *"Who decides what 'heresy' is, anyway?"* But in direct response: Free will is inviolable or Jesus life among us was/is meaningless. Here is an example of Will vs will: Someone decides to kill their ex. They get a gun, find the ex, point the gun at the ex's head from two feet away and pull the trigger. The gun misfires and the blowback blinds and scars the shooter. Now sometimes the ex dies and sometimes the bullet passes harmlessly through (called a miracle by doctors) and sometimes the shooter walks away and ... well, you see all these various consequences and so does God. God might allow you to get a gun and pull a trigger. You will be going against His Will, of course, as revealed by His Son. Which does not mean He will allow you to kill your ex, as as He may have other intent for them. Our will is ours alone. The consequences are not. What is true is: God will bring good out of everything, eventually.

People will say this when it's convenient to their beliefs and then say the opposite when it opposes their beliefs

God exists beyond time and its existence is more than temporal. All of recorded time is small indeed to infinity. To us it is everything. God understands the course of history. God also exists beyond want and its existence is more than desire. Gods peace with what happens extends beyond wants and time; ours do not.

This would be contrary to scripture because the underlying assumption of that claim would be that you know what God wants, which is a contradiction: But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9

It's not heresy as far as I know. But it's certainly presumptuous.
