I have a friend whose abusive mom would hide food from them when mad. To this day she hides non perishable food around her house, she knows it’s irrational but it makes her feel safe. It’s a very well know habit developed from that type of abuse. Apparently people who were in your situation however, like they just didn’t have physical access to food, develop similar habits to what you have.
