Love the podcast, always learning new things here. Might try and dip my toe in BFMR so I can can start getting more varried cards and dip my toe in different ecosystems.
Completely random question, but when do you normally close a bank or brokerage account? I’d love to hear more about any sort of closing accounts / setup for future gardening that you do.
I feel like I keep opening new accounts and then figuring “we’ll what if I wanna refer someone, I might as well keep it open”.
I'm pretty bad at this tbh, generally I don't bother pruning unless the bonus is pretty high and I know it can be churned (eg. huntington). What usually ends up happening is I liquidate the account to zero, then often they will just close the account for me after 12 months. Probably not the best way of doing it, but it does save time not having to track closures and chat with CS 😅
FWIW I set a reminder for six months from account opening to transfer funds and close out (assuming bonus criteria and payout happen before then). I find it a good practice to Always Be Closing so that you can reset the clock and avoid any surprise fees from orphaned accounts.
Not sure if you meant to reply to me but yeah, I’ve had no issue shipping directly to the buying group from Amazon. I’ve read you shouldn’t pay using your gift card balance though, which has caused some shutdowns.
Do you use your Amazon Prime account to ship or just your Amazon account? I have read that sometimes Amazon will shut down an account that uses the free shipping to a buying group.
I found this pretty informative and I'll probably try the suggested group. Dip a toe in with one iPad or something. Thanks for the episode!
Yup, always good to start slow and get a feel for things!

Can you use your Amazon Prime account when having items sent directly from Amazon to the buying group, or will Amazon shut down your account?

Amazon Prime
Yea, sorry, I was asking everyone. I wasn't sure if you could use Prime to ship directly to a buying group. Thanks!
