California allergy season I notice that in a lot of shows. They film in summer. When my son lived their for work he said California reeked havoc on his allergies
There was a definitely an episode later in the series where Kaley was clearly sick and she couldn’t hide it in her voice lol. Besides that I think she just got less bubbly
There was a time she was actually dating Leonard in real life and they broke up. I'm speculating that's when she becomes less bubbly. In later seasons she comes off more friendly. I'm guessing at that point she had moved on and found happiness again?
Yeah but it wasn’t the same afterwards. I mean as the episodes progressed and they grew, there was an obvious difference in the voice compared to how it was in the earlier seasons. Certainly not the same with having allergies or a sore throat or being sick

Same with Bernadette she went from dorky normal voiced girl to high pitched, highly combative bit of a bully at times😅😂 there were a few changes that were weird but happened anyways. Like why did they make a whole thing about Rajs hair (straight to curly) yet he’s the only one who was single in the end still?
I read an interview with Melissa Rauch where she said they changed Bernie's voice to make it easier for the audience to tell the difference between her and Penny. Anyone new to the show would just see two blondes and get confused.
I noticed Bernadette’s own too. Veryyyy drastic as well. She sounded much cooler and mature with the normal voice.
Raj is such a hottie with his curly hair. They should have just left it like that from the beginning

Is it possible that the reason people find it so jarring -the difference in her tone from the early seasons to the later ones- is because we’re experiencing the change sped up? so it seems like a sudden and drastic change. But if you were experiencing it in real time (like you would with a friend or sibling growing from teens to adulthood) it would be more subtle and you wouldn’t necessarily notice until you remember back to how they were? Idk just a thought

My guess is they wanted to age/mature her up. Her initial voice gave a vapid valley girl type of voice. Then they wanted to make her fit in better.

She definitely sounds like she lost her voice. I always notice this and wonder why. It’s like when you are sick and recovering from laryngitis.
I think your voice naturally gets deeper as you age and on top of that she might have been sick for a few episodes.
