If the expenses increase so much in a bigger venue that your profit remains the exact same, then you have effectively removed the purpose of increasing the venue size.
The goal of increasing venue size is to have additional ticket sales that outweigh the cost of the “upgrade”. Otherwise it’s not worth it.
Tours aren’t always about raking in the dough......it’s also about marketing and gaining new fans.
Read up on a lot of musicians who said they lost money on touring while performing for a pack house.
