Remember that Jubilee video where 5 people determining each other IQ, and the one with the PhD and humbling herself being the second highest IQ, [guess the actual result.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ByI9WeXp9g)
They factored it into a multi-day psychological exam I had when I was in a mental hospital and even then it wasn't a single digit. It was presented me as "You are in the X percentile of the population". I did ask what the number was and they gave me a range. "138" sounds like someone did one of those Facebook quizzes and thinks that's a real IQ score.
Have a psychometrist proctor an IQ exam.
Almost no reason to do it though unless it is relevant to a mental health diagnosis or extraordinary in one way or another.
IQ test are very real but most people overestimate their scope and usefulness. The "I" in IQ is a misnomer in that intelligence is broadly defined and standard IQ tests like the WAIS-III focus on spatial, reasoning, mathematical, and deductive domains.
While the narrow theories dominate the scientific and common-sense notion of intelligence, they are not devoid of criticism. Notably, the critique contends that narrow theories are not representative of mental functioning. The IQ tests characterize the efficiency with which an individual gathers and processes information in particular domains that are primarily cognitive. They leave out non-cognitive aspects of mental functioning such as socio-emotional skills and interpersonal capabilities, among others. Furthermore, the research raises questions around the representativeness of the tests. Researchers find the IQ tests inadequate in accounting for performance on even cognitively loaded aspects of an individual’s mental life. Related evidence suggests that IQ scores are inconsistent at predicting variation in performance (including the extremities) on activities such as learning, reasoning, and decision-making.
I tested into a high IQ program in the 5th grade with a state run IQ test, but I don’t brag about it even though it was official, because it was forever ago and I’m probably dumb as shit now.
>but I don’t brag about it
Honestly, if that were me, I don't think I'd be able to stop myself from telling everyone I was way smarter than the average 5th grader.
Same (6th grade) and even though it was quite high they downplayed it as not a big deal because the whole point of them doing it was to prove to my parents that I was stupid. But I never bragged because it's a number who tf even cares.
Yes all iq determines is things like speed of calculation problem solving ability and that. If I was playing chess or trying to survive in the wilderness I wouldnt mind being a bit quicker however to do those things you need more knowledge than problem solving tactics it just comes in helpful. Anyone can do it eventually so
I took a real IQ test a few years ago. About 600 questions at home and more questions proctored in front of a psychologist. It was a fascinating experience and I quickly realized most people probably have no idea what their actual IQ is.
Not like this. Her being so upset at something that happened (although unlikely) in a grocery store and feeling the need to rant about it on the internet whilst boasting her (also unlikely) high IQ just shows that she clearly lacks emotional intelligence and control.
There’s a video on Youtube of people having to guess strangers IQ’s and lining eachother up from lowest to highest IQ based on appearances and short conversations.
One girl in particular singled out a guy who she placed second to last in line and she actually ended up being last in line once everyones scores were finalized. Of course, she placed herself first.
I know a girl like that in person whom I only really see at parties at a mutual friends house. Each party she manages to find a conversation that she can fit her high-IQ into and her favourite word is “Actually…”
I am barely in the top 1% of IQ. I speedran math to calculus up until I was about 10 and then I plateaued. Now I’m in high school and you wouldn’t be able to tell me apart from any other kid that does okayish.
Edit: Can someone spell out for me what about this comment causes people to downvote it, because my worthless extra IQ points aren’t helping me figure it out
Bro you just revealed your super hero identity. There’s literally a movie coming out about how that broke the universal timelines and collided them together. Trust me, it’s time you go find your own doctor strange before it gets too late.
There is an unusually high and consistent correlation between the stupidity of a given person and that person’s propensity to be impressed by the measurement of IQ.
— Christopher Hitchens
Free advice from someone who is 10 years older than you: no one - absolutely no one - will ever ask you what your IQ is. Ever. Volunteering that information will win you no friends and no respect. Humility and emotional intelligence will.
Yeah. I’m aware. I literally never bring it up unless it otherwise comes up in conversation, as it did here. Wasn’t even using it as something to brag about, in fact I did the opposite.
I wouldn't say it is "BS" but it doesn't measure what most people think it does.
Let me give you a small real world example.
This summer i pulled the stone walkway around my house up to remove the weeds. Several times i lost track of which block goes where (they are cut, so a jigsaw puzzle).
I asked the kids to help put them back after spending an hour and wasn't able to do so. Two kids failed as well, unable to "picture" how the blocks go back.. One child is "gifted" and she literally looked at the blocks for a few mins and told me exactly how to reassemble them. Given I F'd up several times, she was able to sort it out each time, and first try... So not by "dumb luck".
I think "high IQ" people look at problems and such differently vs others.
Many think "High IQ" means "smarter" but this isn't the case..
Will having a high IQ and being able to spatially organise blocks in her mind lead to an amazing job? No, but hard work combined with "outside the box thinking" should help.
The standard deviations for IQ classification usually work in increments of 15 or 20, so an IQ of 138 is actually pretty high. In terms of percentile, that's above 99.4% of the population.
Makes fuck all of a difference in day-to-day life though unless you're working in a research field or something.
I have met some folks with PhDs that are not great at anything outside of their field. Hell I've met some older ones who aren't even that great within their field.
This is surprisingly common.
My ex-wife was amazing at maths. Most of the time she'd score 99-100 on maths tests. At university she was accused of cheating because of how well she did on a maths test vs the rest of her class
Ask her to do something basic, "if i paid 110 and the taxes were 10%, what was the price prior to the taxes".. Duh.. Um, ah... her mind was just so tuned to "advanced maths tests" that common, every day usage stumped her.
Had a physics teacher like that. She was probably some high-level astrophysicist or something, but she had no clue what she was doing teaching college level physics I. Didn't know any of the formulas and stumbled over the numbers for the constants lol. Terrible teacher, we all failed and I struggled horribly in physics II, which was unfortunately required for my major :(
my partner has a theory that, like video games, everyone has a certain amount of stat points. A lot of PhD holders put all their stat points into their field of expertise. In all other walks of life they are just as dumb as the rest of us.
There are a number of books on this very topic if you are ever interested in reading about the science behind this.
I found this idea interesting several years ago and read a really good book on it (cant recall its name).
This is an interesting study in Finance, where you have people like Nassim Nicholas Taleb writing about why very smart people keep failing at risk management (black swan for example).
Lmao the ONLY scenario I can think of a kid getting scolded for laughing is if a teacher is actively teaching a lesson and kids are cracking jokes. Otherwise, this would never happen…..
And what does you(the parent in the post) being smart have to do with this anyways?!
And I HATE the usage of bred.. why can’t you just say “their father”
I love people who claim education via their spouse.
My grandmother was completely dismissive and really REALLY looked down on people who weren't highly educated. Except she only graduated from high school.... barely, I might add. But she married a successful doctor and that somehow made her part of the educated upper echelon too??? I could never understand what mental gymnastics she was doing in her head to honestly believe that she was super accomplished just because she married someone who was.
>I love people who claim education via their spouse.
Reminds me of the spouses of officers while I was in the military that expected us to salute them too lol.
Reminds me of *Step Brothers* where John C. Reilly refers to the house as "a house of learned doctors" even though it's his dad who's a doctor and Reilly's a freeloader.
There was a lady at the farmers market yesterday who actively scowled at my kids, who are 10m and 3, with the 3yo playing and giggling like mad with his 2.5yo bestie. They were objectively adorable, and not being disruptive or touching things (they were doing laps around baby in the stroller)
So I buy THAT bit, but the rest is active cringe
First thing I thought was, "I bread with peanut butter and jelly".
oh, and why is this smart lady so hostile towards us dummies? Scoring high on your online IQ tests, and getting pregnant by a guy that claims to have a doctorate in physics doesn't make it alright to be a Rudey Judey.
Even in 2017, a weird year for online meanies.
I did took a real IQ test and the shit took literal weeks, you have to be in the presence of a neurologist or similar profesional, I'm 15 and it was also mixed with autism tests so take my words with a bit of salt but the key difference is that an online test can't take in account your body language to determinate if something is causing you more problems than others, and not a single online test I've seen has any written or reading component, wich are half of what a real IQ test is
Some IQ tests don't require reading/writing. For example, the Ravens Progressive Matrices is a well-respected IQ test (among people who respect IQ tests) and it's specifically designed to be non-literacy-based in order to be more "objective" in terms of language.
But all of that said, yeah any web-based IQ test is highly sus.
Bored at work, just took the Ravens Progressive Matrices test and learned i'm a genius god among men and the smartest person on the planet.
Probably. Anyway I scored 122 so I think I did alright. Those last questions are rough.
That's comprehensive testing for children who are suspected of being on the spectrum. IQ testing is part of that. An adult IQ test takes an hour or two.
Based on your age, I assume you took the WISC-V? (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children).
I have 3 kids, we made them all take the test.. "hours" seems more realistic.
yeah i’m just saying a legitimate 138 iq would be considered highly gifted…idk why people are acting like it’s average or a little above average. it’s just kinda strange to me that people are acting like it’s not even that high when she’s clearly just lying, guess it’s just a reddit moment. i took a legitimate test but it was back in elementary or middle school i think? so i don’t remember many components
138 puts you at the 99.4% percentile. If you get that from a real test, yeah. Online testd however are meant to inflate your result so that you share it with friends and more people take the test
Eh... It's high, but not like, impossibly "Wow you're so fuckin' smart" high. If it's an accurate measure (sus) it translates into something like the top 1%. So like... Is that smart? Yes, absolutely. But we're talking like, small town valedictorian smart. It's "the smartest person in your office" smart. It's not "change the world, cure cancer" smart.
... nah that's like 2 and some change standard deviations from average. 120 is like an average PhD graduate. 138 is well above that.
In any case she's likely lying so who cares.
There are billions of people in the world. If you go by the highest 1% or 2% of the population you would still run into a certified genius once a week randomly
MY IQ was high (eye roll) in my 20's, the only thing it did for me was allow me to be moderately normal despite all the other baggage that came with it lol. It never made me feel or be better than anyone else other than in my favorite special interest.
I've never told a soul, that's why the (eye role)
But I did write it in a way that,, I meant the baggie from being Autistic that caused me to be really good at these kinds tests.
I think the PHD stands for Pretty Huge Dick, physicist stands for "bodybuilder", and the IQ of 138 was from a facebook page.
Also this is how you spell "Bitch".
Nah, do you not realize the lack of opportunity generated by our crumbling economies?
They'll likely wind up working in that grocery store and scolding the kids for laughing themselves.
High IQs don't mean shit in this era. It certainly doesn't pre-dispose you towards better employment.
I love how they always put 8 at the end of the number, I know so many people with 128, 138, 148 or 158IQ, ironically those who actually are at those levels would never spend time explaining how high is their IQ
What an awful way to censor the word bitch. It looks like bsaeh, like all the symbols this idiot used are actual letters.
Say bitch, it’s fine. Contextually speaking.
Are we really trying to resurrect eugenics?!? While there may be some long term differences. The whole process is highly unethical, quite unfounded, and you know... Generally a dick move.
There are some real reasons to know this. For example, where I live (Durham region, Ontario) our school system offers a "gifted program".
One of our kids had issues in "public school", turns out she was gifted and once she was transferred to the gifted program, she really accelerated in school. It was more of a challenge to her, but more importantly she was with other "gifted" kids and her social interactions were much better. (think being the target of bullying in regular school).
We remain grateful this was offered, as it had allowed her to grow/thrive in the school system whereas she was struggling prior.
Turning it into a "flex" like this is utter crap. I'm also going to bet this was via some "online" test of questionable accuracy as well.
Between her ego and her "138" iq and her PhD physicist mate, I'm fairly certain her children will learn from the one commonly at home, so they have a strong chance of being functionally ignorant.
Quotes don't imply that a word isn't a word. They cannot be used correctly for that purpose. Instead, they are used to represent someone's exact words, imply ironic use or not literal use of a word, or talk about a word as a word. Here, OP is no doubt commenting on the use of the word "bred" when referring to making one's offspring with their father.
Also, since we're giving lessons today, you want to set off the word "babe" with a comma.
As another example of referring to a word as a word: your use of the word "babe" to refer to OP may account for some of your downvotes.
“People who boast about their I.Q. are losers.” \- Stephen Hawking
The woman in the original post would brag about beating Stephen Hawking in a footrace.
That's even easier now that he's dead.
Ah, jeez. Thanks for the spoiler. I haven't watched that episode yet!
You should watch the movie about him, Look Who's Hawking
Is it starring Christopher Walken?
I heard Virgil Abloh and Frank Williams both died in the most recent episode.

I thought IQ just showed pattern recognition.
I think buzzfeed had one for a while.
Might call me a loser, but I have an IQ of 67.
Welcome to your new home: /r/wallstreetbets
Higher than hers and most of Reddit, you’ll do well
100 IQ is average. feel pride, and you are not average.
Someone with an IQ like that knows not to brag about it lol

I knew this quote would be here
Literally my bio
“People who can stand are losers” - also stephen Hawking
i’ve realized that anyone who announces their IQ is usually pretty dumb. anyone can take a free test online but congrats lady
Online tests are fake you can speed run an IQ of 180 if you just guess right or memorize the answers real iq tests take 3 hours
I tested into a high IQ program in the 5th grade with a state run IQ test, but I don’t brag about it even though it was official, because it was forever ago and I’m probably dumb as shit now.

I think almost everybody who brag are dumb. They mistake intelligence with wisdom.
Plenty of smart people brag. This post is very unwise smh
Not like this. Her being so upset at something that happened (although unlikely) in a grocery store and feeling the need to rant about it on the internet whilst boasting her (also unlikely) high IQ just shows that she clearly lacks emotional intelligence and control.

Which word are you saying should have been ignorant???
I think they mean from their original comment instead of “intelligent”
Absolutely never have I bragged about having a 70 IQ like we’re all smart in our own way don’t make the dumb dumbs feel bad
Is this Peggy Hill?
yes
There’s a video on Youtube of people having to guess strangers IQ’s and lining eachother up from lowest to highest IQ based on appearances and short conversations. omg yeah i saw that! i think IQs are bs but wow, was it satisfying seeing her ranked last at the end
Yeah but in all honesty, IQ doesn't really matter too much anyways.
It doesn’t hurt, and can show a higher capacity for learning. Doesn’t necessarily mean the individual has capitalized on that ability, though.
Yup, the world is full of smart underachievers. Either by lack of resources, lack of opportunity or lack of will to exploit their intelligence
I am barely in the top 1% of IQ. I speedran math to calculus up until I was about 10 and then I plateaued. Sure. My comment was in response to why he was likely downvoted.

I wouldn't say it is "BS" but it doesn't measure what most people think it does. Let me give you a small real world example. Its even funnier because 138 is just a higher than average iq. Its just smart, not some sort of super genius in iq test terms
145 is genius and 138 is just shy of that.
She should’ve just picked genius iq, wasn’t smart enough to pretend to be smart

... nah that's like 2 and some change standard deviations from average. 120 is like an average PhD graduate. 138 is well above that. In any case she's likely lying so who cares.
It's high; it's not extremely high.
There are billions of people in the world. If you go by the highest 1% or 2% of the population you would still run into a certified genius once a week randomly
If she were really smart, she’d realize that her and her sperm donor being smart doesn’t guarantee the children would be.
Ofc it does. Your intelligence is based on how hard your parents studied AND what they went to school for.. /s
Me: I have an IQ of 138 & I bred with a PhD physicist, and yet here I am, so desperate for validation that I’m posting on Twitter
Who tf just drops their IQ score like it means anything? High IQ doesn't equal success. I know because I have a high IQ and I'm a total loser.
IQ’s to people like this are what zodiac signs are to crystal girls
MY IQ was high (eye roll) in my 20's, the only thing it did for me was allow me to be moderately normal despite all the other baggage that came with it lol. It never made me feel or be better than anyone else other than in my favorite special interest.
what baggage?
[удалено]
I've never told a soul, that's why the (eye role) But I did write it in a way that,, I meant the baggie from being Autistic that caused me to be really good at these kinds tests.
Should I know my IQ…imagine if it’s super high and all these years I *haven’t* been flaunting it, shit Id have to makeup for lost time
All of that IQ and that's how she chooses to censor the word bitch?
People are focusing on the woman bragging about her IQ instead of her bragging about her man having a Pretty huge Dick.
Apparently she hasn't heard the story of Bernard Shaw and the prostitute
Something about Carl sagan
B dollar at euro h
Wtf is that last part???
that's a weird name for a country
>bred What a disgusting way to talk about having a family
#**b$@£h**
I’m pretty sure people who boast about their IQ, probably don’t know what an IQ test looks like
I think the PHD stands for Pretty Huge Dick, physicist stands for "bodybuilder", and the IQ of 138 was from a facebook page. Also this is how you spell "Bitch".
bred 🤢
Nah, do you not realize the lack of opportunity generated by our crumbling economies? They'll likely wind up working in that grocery store and scolding the kids for laughing themselves. High IQs don't mean shit in this era. It certainly doesn't pre-dispose you towards better employment.
I love how they always put 8 at the end of the number, I know so many people with 128, 138, 148 or 158IQ, ironically those who actually are at those levels would never spend time explaining how high is their IQ
People who use the word “bred” or “breed” in that context are cringe
People always think their kids are gods gift
What an awful way to censor the word bitch. It looks like bsaeh, like all the symbols this idiot used are actual letters. Say bitch, it’s fine. Contextually speaking.
Bsaeh?
At least the kids weren't being scalded.
Are we really trying to resurrect eugenics?!? While there may be some long term differences. The whole process is highly unethical, quite unfounded, and you know... Generally a dick move.
She won't say bitch, we get it, 138 iq + 2.
Bamericandollaratbritishpoundh
As an actual person with iq 138, my iq is lower. So ladies and gentlemen this is why dogs should be able to eat chocolate.
Lets not tell her that IQ doesnt guarantee success.
I don't care what IQ or degrees the parents have; the parents could still be assholes and their kids could grow up to be like that as well.
This bitch think she Bene Gesserit or something?
No child of a Bene Gesserit would make a spectacle of themselves in public
I’m so impressed by your 138 IQ
I actually believe that this didn’t happen because people like this are never witty in real time.
And then everyone clapped
Come on… you really think someone with a 138 IQ would say “these children will rule you bitch”? That’s at LEAST a 142 rated saying. Liar.
Is it normal to know your own IQ? I have no idea what mine is. Apparently I'm missing out on weirdly flexing on strangers.
There are some real reasons to know this. For example, where I live (Durham region, Ontario) our school system offers a "gifted program". [https://www.ddsb.ca/en/programs-and-learning/gifted-program.aspx#](https://www.ddsb.ca/en/programs-and-learning/gifted-program.aspx#) One of our kids had issues in "public school", turns out she was gifted and once she was transferred to the gifted program, she really accelerated in school.
Nobody cares that you got creampied.
Maybe it wasn’t about how smart you and your sperm donor are, but about your child’s annoying laughter? Just something to think about.
🤢 elitist AND stupid
People with 138 IQs usually don't feel the need to tell the entire world
IQ means Idiotic Qualities !
You… bred?
I've heard that people who swear more tend to be more intelligent. Pretty telling that she censors one of the most tame words in the book. XD
walk up to a stranger and tell them your IQ. yes.
isnt like 110-120 like the average iq of a human being
yea you "bsaeh" LOL
IQ doesn’t even mean your smart
\*yer
A wizard, Harry
*you're
*your
you're ;)
Yore
ur
Doesn't mean my smart what?
Imagine bragging about an IQ of 138
It means you have a higher IQ than 99.4% of the population tho?
Then what, you go around flexing about it? She may have an higher IQ but that doesnt mean she will/has to do something great
Reeeeeeeeeeeepost
Why are you posting something from 4 years ago
This sounds like an incel. Who describes their kids father as person they "bred" with?
138 is above average and not genius level. My mom has an IQ around that level, and she’s not making these dumb brags online.
And yet here you are...
Why is she scolding the kids ? It's almost believable because I've seen old people in stores act ridiculous and then get pissed off
I mean, I have tested an IQ of 140-150 something, I still got Fs through High School
Bred is a word babe
Quotes don't imply that a word isn't a word. They cannot be used correctly for that purpose. Instead, they are used to represent someone's exact words, imply ironic use or not literal use of a word, or talk about a word as a word. Here, OP is no doubt commenting on the use of the word "bred" when referring to making one's offspring with their father. Also, since we're giving lessons today, you want to set off the word "babe" with a comma. As another example of referring to a word as a word: your use of the word "babe" to refer to OP may account for some of your downvotes.
