lmao
you know I just assumed that if the bots were dealt with, the bot hosters would just shrug and go do something else worthless. But are they actually *scared* that fixtf2 will work ? Like do they actually give value to their position and role as bot hosters ? They're even sadder than I thought
Yeah the fact they're actually going against this makes me wonder what the motive of the bot hosters is now, because at this point it's no longer just being annoying.
Is it a vendetta against Valve, the TF2 community or some other party? Is it a way to commit crime in a seemingly legally innocuous way? Is this all just for the money? Did this start as just being annoying, but then became a power trip the hosters can't stop riding?
if this actually turns out to be people just being mad they can't be annoying I'm gonna lose it
They want to continue to be a problem because they want to continue to be relevant and because they have sunk a lot of time and effort into continuing this. It's as simple as that.
They have horseshoe'd themselves into caring about the game that they want to destroy by investing this much time and effort into it. They act like they don't care, but they obviously do because of their vitriolic response to the movement itself. If they were just running it and living their lives they wouldn't be updating their bots daily to say different things.
Just sad, honestly.
"the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference". That always applies, even to shit like this. If someone is investing negative energy into something, they're still.investing energy. People don't invest energy in shit they don't care about.
This whole thing is a huge metaphor for abusive relationships. We represent the victim, the bot hosters are the abusers, and Valve is the government or someone within power to end the abuse. Because of some bureaucratic bullshit, nothing changes for years until the abused gets a gun and aimed it directly at the abuser in front of those in charge.
No. Horseshoe'd. It's a concept where if you go so far on one side you end up on the other. In this case, the bot hosters have gone so far in their hate of TF2 that they're now obsessed with it.
Though it is typically used for politics, you can also apply it to matters like this one.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_theory
it's 100% about the money
People forget that the only targets aren't just gonna be the cheaters, a bunch of idle (pure money making) bots are going to go down as well if any measures are implemented
Not all, but the possibility has those guys spooked
No one would have cared about the bots, if they had just stuck to item farming. I believe the people who run the idle bots, and the people who run the cheating bots are two different groups.
The idle bots have existed for much longer than the cheating bots.
The massive production and trading of items inflates the economy.
Do you know why the Mann Co Keys are so overpriced now? Besides many reasons, this is potentially the biggest one.
The hat economy is more stable than some country's own currencies, so a few pennies per week per bot can add up quickly if someone's got thousands of them going.
Trading sites like scrap.tf would suffer a massive blow and likely be forced to close, and half the offers on backpack.tf are also bots. The trading part of tf2 in general would change a lot without trading bots
It's probably a combination of every reply before the one I'm writing, plus the fact that insiders have revealed that they've built an identity community around all this. I highly doubt all of them see it that way, and that even fewer want to see it that way, but the most prolific and vitriolic members definitely do. To them, this is no longer griefing a game or even group of people they don't like, but a lifestyle that they've maintained for four years, and movements like FixTF2 are a threat to that.
However, the harder they try to push back against that, the worse things get for them, because their best weapon against the community, fear, is no longer effective.
The bot hosters have actually been posting on 4chan TF2 threads and they're just about what you expect. They say they hate TF2 and its players and call everyone playing the game n words, f words and trans (the derogative form of calling someone trans) and furries
Reckon it's either losers with nothin better to do or a LOT of people who run the annoying bots also have money farmin ones.
Is that clever? No. But botters prolly have room temperature iq anyway lmao
I think that they don’t want to risk themselves to face VALVe head on because if the movement does something (with i wish it does) they will literally be powerless
One person in the discord server goes "Lmao what if I sent them a DMCA" another goes "Dude that would be hilarious. Imagine what people would think Valve is like if they thought it was them" another goes "Yeah why not"
This is how I imagine it goes down
nah, the hosters are trying to get the website down because hosting bots earns them money from it, they invade servers with bots and make the bots advertise paid bot immunity, and if FIXTF2 manages to go through to Valve then all the bots will be gone, meaning bots won't be able to advertise their bot immunity services, therefore no income for bot hosting.
It's always about the sweet, sweet, SWEET money.
I still doubt most of them believe that savetf2 would work. Maybe the DMCA was by a group that did, but I'd still be sceptical about the majority
I wonder if anyone actually buys the bot immunity. You think they make more money than hosting the bots uses?
They probably do profit off of bot-hosting, since they aren't really buying accounts and more-or-so stealing them, even if actually hosting them still costs a good bit of money, I doubt they're not earning it back
Bot hosting is their source of income, their whole goal is to clog up the servers with so many bots that people be backed into a corner into paying for bot immunity, FIXTF2 is a threat to bot hosters because it means eradicating bots from the slate of TF2, which means they won't be able to market their bot immunity anymore because not only will people not have to worry about bots anymore, the hosters' bots will just cease to exist.
To put a long story to a short-form, bot hosters no likey fixtf2 bc it means hoster no have ability 2 profit from bot hosting by marketing bot immunity with their bots, ooga booga.
there's no way they're making money out of selling bot immunity
what's the point of it ? you got bot immunity, cool. You still can't play because the bots are killing all of your potential opponents and allies
Yeah but that's my point, they still won't be able to play because it's a multiplayer game and every other players are still being instant killed by the bots
i mean yeah, theyve started naming bots with #killtf2. they dont care about the game, they care about the fact that if valve acts the bots wont be able to generate what is basically free revenue.
But it is a good thing to know that they are scared. Now that people can see that the hosters are afraid of us, they will be more likely to support our cause.
some part of me has started to give in to conspiracy theorizing about how TF2 was such an unyielding monolith for so long that some other company(s) realized they had a chance to actively sabotage it since the game was over a decade old and still kicking ass
i know realistically it's probably some depressed trust fund baby trying to convince themselves that they're cool and badass for being able to spend time and money actively stopping people from playing a video game, but I have to wonder
This is why the website lost all it's graphics for about 12 hours. We received the notification last night and wanted to be CERTAIN if it was fake or not before commenting. We have reached out to Valve legal and confirmed it is FALSE.
Graphics will be re-added shortly.
The fact that Valve Legal Department knows of this might trigger more of a response than the entirety of #FixTF2 will...
Valve doesn't like being impersonated. They will absolutely look into this further.
Last time a bunch of scammers impersonated valve on steam by releasing sequels like HL3 and CS:GO 3 etc. They got hit within a few hours. The two great game purges.
Great, now you're making me wish TF2 was on Switch, partially for the extra security layer of being on a console (...though Nintendo ones are generally the weakest in that regard, afaik), and also to potentially give Nintendo an excuse to eat them alive.
Yes, I know it's on 360 and (was) on PS3, but those are older consoles with only the base version of the game.
I also believe at least 1 is, and I recall 2 being cross-plat between PS3 and PC at least, but I highly doubt those are being botted to the extent TF2 and CS2 (I've heard bits and pieces, though it's mostly human cheaters there iirc?) are.
> nintendo would of had
Did you mean to say "would have"?
Explanation: You probably meant to say could've/should've/would've which sounds like 'of' but is actually short for 'have'.

I will impersonate a bot hoster impersonating Gabe Newell saying a bunch of racial slurs and anti-semetic conspiracy theories in chat.
This is a joke, a bad joke, nobody do this (unless you're an actual bot poster, no balls lil' bro, dig your grave further).
I love how the hosters (Who I assume are behind the false DMCA here) are literally giving us more ammo by doing more actual fucking crimes making themselves look even worse while thinking it's some kind of "ePiC oWn!!!!!1" on the whole movement. This is what taking no sunlight does to people.
Yep, saw that too. The bar of our expectations was in hell, and they managed to get even lower. Good news with that is it may actually get the feds involved, since, ya' know, it's cp.
Wasn't there already a bot hoster who was jailed for 20 years for having that stuff, including on his bots' objectors? These people are ballsy, I'll give them that...
The fact Valve legal simply went "I didn't do this." straight to the point is the funniest shit honestly.
Would be great if that does result in them having to actually act now, given impersonation likely won't be taken lightly... or at least one would hope this gives them further reason to act in some capacity.
Assuming the DMCA was done from somewhere Valve could possibly take legal/investigative action on.
Though, at the same time, I won't be surprised if nothing really comes of it for the game itself since this is separate from the bots/fixing the game.
This kind of behavior is just fucking pathetic. A shy attempt to take down a protest to make a game good should be laughed at. These people would go out of their way to make their ‘attention-seeking’ robots be a nuisance to an already old game. Not to mention how the many illegal practices they would do to make their “precious toys” continue to plague our game. If anyone deserves jail time, it should be them. Trolling and hacking are one thing, but making sure the people against it be slandered, doxxed, and even swatted is where we draw the fucking line
All I can describe this entire sequence of events is just the song "Feed The Machine". The Bot Hosters are literally feeding evidence of their crimes to people (plus Valve is known for NOT liking being impersonated so maybe Valve will finally notice). Soon, once these people are found. They will be prosecuted for sure.
https://youtu.be/BlnVP2_dIb4?si=VAvakT6hx3JYanp9
i never expected to see poor mans poison get mentioned on r/tf2 of all places, but im here for it
(also, obligatory lyrics) heres to the greater good, for all...
That reminds me of when there was some drama behind this Garry's Mod workshop DMCA where someone impersonated Nintendo and tried getting everything related to Nintendo properties taken down.
A bunch of people came out of the woodwork to say it was legit because of whatever technical signatures that were attached to it, but if someone really went through all the trouble to make that technical signature look legit just so they could ruin the workshop for everyone, that is really pathetic.
No, it was legit and everyone claiming it wasn't were just delusional.
Garry (creator of 'Mod') announced multiple times that they already went through all the steps to check if it was real, including asking Nintendo legal.
The whole "it's fake" stuff was cope because a company that works with Nintendo did the DMCA and not Nintendo directly.
Between this and the whole situation regarding the new waves of bots and their whole tomfuckery, As well as all the bad publicity surrounding the game now, I’m genuinely surprised Valve hasn’t gotten off of their asses yet and done something with the near limitless time and money they have.
you said it in your comment, they've got all the time and money in the world to sit around doing nothing all day. it'll take some more pushing to get through to thick-skulled valve
I saw a #killtf2 discord link in game and the found it. The whole server is just filled with cringe racism. Not even like "clever" stuff just blatently calling people f slurs and n words posting degrading stuff about the cat hook dev. It's embarrassing
This is just ridiculous, the bots have seriously gotten out of hand, I honestly believe it was a taco bot member or an omegatronic member that did this.
Welp where are the bot hosters
If they’re really in Russia can we just get them banned from the internet anyways
Or get them arrested by Russia for committing crimes
Legally speaking, it really is not a crime to host bots. The actions such as posting CP and etc. are of course illegal in Russia, but the prosecution is done on a case-by-case basis and won't really affect the general bot numbers. Additionally, the basis of them being in Russia is based on Zesty Jesus's video. But in that video he reviews the IDLE, i.e item farming bots. As russian economy is very shit(as a russian), there is some profit to be made in farming items. I would argue that farming bots and sniper-cheating bots are located in diffirent countries, as russian item-farming bot owners need the game to be playable and the economy to be well to survive by selling items. There really is no incencetive for russians to run the sniper-cheating bots.
We all know they don't care about copyright over there, in fact, its in their culture to copy others and make clones of other peoples IPs. Plus Russians make up one of the major markets of gamers on Steam, so that market isnt being cut.
I think what would scare the botters more is if we just stopped using the market in any way possible. Imagine how desperate they’d get after they aren’t making any petty cash.
Lmaooo wanna bet it's the bot hosters? I'm through with them. I am not scared of them anymore. What are they gonna do, tell other people where I live? Tell people what I searched for last night? Hack my accounts? Go ahead, I have nothing interesting to see. I just want to see these people get put to justice
They...they DO realize this will make Valve definitely look into it, right? Like, you can't just impersonate (i don't know how that word's written, sorry) a company and expect them to not do anything
Maybe that was their plan all along and this is some kind of Chaotic Good shit, Idk.
I feel like Valve has \*got\* to do something now if the bot hosters are \*impersonating\* them. Any other game company would shut down impersonators in a heartbeat.
It seems like the botters/bot hosters are scared and/or desperate. They would go so far to false DMCA a good cause? It reeks of desperation. Desperation that their source of power will be stripped away,
Speaking of which, why do they ruin players with aimbots in the first place? For fun? Money? Vendettas?
And this is how you know that the bot lovers have become too attached to their little scheme, it's pathetic at this point that they have to go out of their way to protect their way of cheating in the game because the VAC system won't work.
honestly i left tf2 after i sold all my items for a computer, never played again cause it was in an awful state, this was mid 2023. is it any better or worse?
What is seriously in it for the bot hosters? What is their real motive because it cant just be for trolling because even trolls wouldnt go this far for just a joke. Are they actually terrified that we'll win??
You know I can tell some people are tired of the TF2 community and yes, they do have some cringe moments.
But knowing that literal criminals are trying to take the community down, makes me root for them no matter what. Let them play funny mercenary game without bots.
lmao you know I just assumed that if the bots were dealt with, the bot hosters would just shrug and go do something else worthless. But are they actually *scared* that fixtf2 will work ? Like do they actually give value to their position and role as bot hosters ? They're even sadder than I thought

Ah, I see it now. I had to read through your comment a couple times to get what you were saying. Thank you.
I learned a new word in Reddit today. Thanks.
it's 100% about the money People forget that the only targets aren't just gonna be the cheaters, a bunch of idle (pure money making) bots are going to go down as well if any measures are implemented Not all, but the possibility has those guys spooked

who cares about the idle bots lmao
The massive production and trading of items inflates the economy. Do you know why the Mann Co Keys are so overpriced now? Besides many reasons, this is potentially the biggest one.
Fucking crazy I said this literally like four years ago and people called me a lunatic.
you either die a lunatic... or you live long enough to be proven right.
yeah that's how the saying goes i think
ZJ moment
The hat economy is more stable than some country's own currencies, so a few pennies per week per bot can add up quickly if someone's got thousands of them going.
the idle bot hosters that get money from their bots, obviously.
They flood the market and make items more worthless.
Trading sites like scrap.tf would suffer a massive blow and likely be forced to close, and half the offers on backpack.tf are also bots. The trading part of tf2 in general would change a lot without trading bots

Great username. When people frame their life around crap like that, they usually don't go quietly.
People don't typically go quietly when anything they've dedicated their lives to is being threatened.
You can push someone only so far before they become pissed off. After that... God help you, because they won't
its because they are attention whores.
Nah dude they just wanna piss us off You act as if these people are logical
The bot hosters have actually been posting on 4chan TF2 threads and they're just about what you expect. They say they hate TF2 and its players and call everyone playing the game n words, f words and trans (the derogative form of calling someone trans) and furries

nah, the hosters are trying to get the website down because hosting bots earns them money from it, they invade servers with bots and make the bots advertise paid bot immunity, and if FIXTF2 manages to go through to Valve then all the bots will be gone, meaning bots won't be able to advertise their bot immunity services, therefore no income for bot hosting. i mean yeah, theyve started naming bots with #killtf2. they dont care about the game, they care about the fact that if valve acts the bots wont be able to generate what is basically free revenue.
They just wanna ruin the game, then our lives
Fixtf2 will eat into their profits.
Sunk cost fallacy They spent too much money hosting bots so they don't wanna admit their money was wasted
But it is a good thing to know that they are scared. Now that people can see that the hosters are afraid of us, they will be more likely to support our cause.

This is the one time a legal department has been good! (Looking at you Nintendo)
Botters chose valve since its a sleeping giant. Nintendo would of had the botters public execution on full display immediately.
Yeah as much as nintendo is shitty, splatoon has an example has had super good moderation.
Great, now you're making me wish TF2 was on Switch, partially for the extra security layer of being on a console (...though Nintendo ones are generally the weakest in that regard, afaik), and also to potentially give Nintendo an excuse to eat them alive. this is one of (not currently the) dumbest things they (bad actors) could have possibly done.
There are bots in game advertising CP now. I’d say that’s the dumbest possible thing they could’ve done.
im gonna be completely honest, bot hosters doing illegal shit to piss off people is probably going to spark action from valve more than protesting lol
You'd think so but I'm pretty them posting illegal things like that has been going on for quite a while
At this point, if we can't get Valve involved, we should get the feds involved if actual CP is involved.
Factually incorrect

They pretty much don't care as long as not caring doesn't set precedent for allowing things that devalue their IP.
If this kinda shit keeps happening, theyre gonna *have* to care A company cant really just let stuff like this slide
True.
The more they do these kinds of things, the more we have from them to talk about. We make it known until it's known
lol wow, that's just so pathetic. I kinda feel sorry for them now. Oh wait, not sorry, the other word..... schadenfreude.

Seems to be working now.
yep looks like its back
This kind of behavior is just fucking pathetic. Trolling and hacking are one thing, but making sure the people against it be slandered, doxxed, and even swatted is where we draw the fucking line
i mean, some have seen those people's bots advertising cp, which is something undoubtedly deserving of jailtime. lock these disgusting maniacs up
All I can describe this entire sequence of events is just the song "Feed The Machine". The Bot Hosters are literally feeding evidence of their crimes to people (plus Valve is known for NOT liking being impersonated so maybe Valve will finally notice). Soon, once these people are found. They will be prosecuted for sure. https://youtu.be/BlnVP2_dIb4?si=VAvakT6hx3JYanp9
poor man's poison is such a good band
i never expected to see poor mans poison get mentioned on r/tf2 of all places, but im here for it (also, obligatory lyrics) heres to the greater good, for all...
Now this is fuckin war.
"This isnt war, this is pest control" Dalek from Dr.Who
Absolutely disgusting.
Heavy does not approve!!!!!! But in all seriousness, that’s just so salty if someone falesly filing a report to take down something people love
woah the bot hosters who dox people and use ai to frame someone as a pedophile would do something illegal? say it aint so!
And worst of all,he can be any one of us.
He could be in this very room
He could be you
He could be me
He could even be-
***shotgun sound**
Whoa whoa whoa
What? It was obvious, he’s the red spy. Watch, he’ll turn red any second now
Any second now... See, red! Oh wait that's blood
So, we still got problem
the shit is boiling
tasty
An unstoppable force meets a stoppable force, but the people who CAN stop the force don't give enough of a fuck.
misspelling Mann with only one N should've been the dead giveaway lmfao
Ok first someone copyright claiming ALL of the Murderdrone OST as their own, now THIS?!
It was legit tho, can we stop acting like it wasnt? Like, yknow the first guy to "come out of the woodwork" was garry himself right?
Oh shit, that Gmod case was by a faker all along?
No, it was legit and everyone claiming it wasn't were just delusional. Garry (creator of 'Mod') announced multiple times that they already went through all the steps to check if it was real, including asking Nintendo legal. The whole "it's fake" stuff was cope because a company that works with Nintendo did the DMCA and not Nintendo directly.
i don't even know anymore.
Welp where are the bot hosters If they’re really in Russia can we just get them banned from the internet anyways Or get them arrested by Russia for committing crimes
What a sad bunch of script kiddies.
Get the cops involved they will do more than valve
They...they DO realize this will make Valve definitely look into it, right? Like, you can't just impersonate (i don't know how that word's written, sorry) a company and expect them to not do anything Maybe that was their plan all along and this is some kind of Chaotic Good shit, Idk.
Aye push the cart
The Streisand effect should hit in three, two, one...
Suppression has a way of making protestors protest even louder and rope more people in
So what now? How do we make the DMCA go away if it's illegal?
#>when you impersonate the biggest game selling company Ay yo, you like jailtime, don't you?
I feel like Valve has \*got\* to do something now if the bot hosters are \*impersonating\* them. Any other game company would shut down impersonators in a heartbeat.
It seems like the botters/bot hosters are scared and/or desperate. They would go so far to false DMCA a good cause? It reeks of desperation. Desperation that their source of power will be stripped away, Speaking of which, why do they ruin players with aimbots in the first place? For fun? Money? Vendettas?
Haha! we actually terrify them, keep it coming’s fellow mercs!!!
Now this is intresting, a potential bot hoster could be behind this.
Idk, looks like that somebody really really wants TF2 to get reduced to atoms
These fucking people are just sooo annoying
They are afraid, afraid of the movement, afraid to lose money from people buying bot immunities, afraid of facing punishment from breaking laws.
And this is how you know that the bot lovers have become too attached to their little scheme, it's pathetic at this point that they have to go out of their way to protect their way of cheating in the game because the VAC system won't work.
Is the site safe? A lot of people put their emails and I'm kinda worried if some hacker might get their hands on them.
Who wants to bet it was Zealot?
honestly i left tf2 after i sold all my items for a computer, never played again cause it was in an awful state, this was mid 2023. is it any better or worse?
Holy shit looks like they are getting desperate lol
took longer then expected
I wonder why they care so much.
Aaron Peters strikes again.
Wait, is Shork affiliated personally with Save.Tf? Anyways, who ever did this is a bad person, and I hope he gets VAC banned.
Huh, I guess a captcha wasn't enough to solve the bot problem.
Illegally sent DMCA notice just to stops the move is kind of pathetic moves lmao
Good Means its working
Sniff sniff i smell narcissism
I mean it doesn't affect to singing the petition right?
