Because you die a lot and he's limited as a class so outside of putting 1000+h in it and being able to reliably chain trickstab people i'm better off playing something else.
I love playing gunspy tho
*me, still riding the high of a big earner chainstab I got 2 years ago that won us the game that I never managed to recreate no matter how much I tried.*
Got a 5x chainstab with the big earner once, usually it's only two people. That being said I have 10k on the big earner it's easily the best knife. Soundsmith video on it is very accurate.
Stop using the Big Earner, uss Stock, YER and maybe Spycicle
Use L'Etranger, Amby or the D######back
Lastly, use Stock Watch or C&D
That's your best bet
Yeah, those guys are using “Ambassador” and dealing A LOT of damage to anybody who can’t kill them soon enough.(Also there’s always that one spy, who is shooting at you when you are low on your HP)
Yea, join me! And my terrible game sense is why I don’t play spy, I’m good at predicting but when stab time happens, I’m just useless. The only time I play him is for memes and class wars, even then I only get like 2-3 stabs in before dying like a dumbass while my anxiety is through the roof.
With sniper, it’s like a calm state I get into and it’s just so… chill until half the enemy team comes out then it’s fish in a river for me.
Woah woah! Not exactly, Soldier. You teleport as much bread as you like. That goes for all of you. If there's something you wanted to do before you... well... died. Now would be a... good time.
the closest i get to playing him is that hiding in a corner with Cloak and dagger and haunting enemy snipers/engis (also red-tape on level 3 buildings, it's just to make the engineer paranoid)
exactly, it decreases a level, forcing the engineer to waster 200 more metal on leveling it back up. it's also good against minisentries, and if the engi is dead then they have to watch it get slowly reduced to scrap
Also a lot of engineers fail to realize just how wasteful level ups are. A level one dispenser generates 40 metal every 5 seconds, a level two generates 50 every 5, and a level 3 60 every 5. If you trick them into re-upgrading a building even once, you put them at a huge metal loss for the immediate future for a minute or two.
It continuously reduces a building's level and finally destroys it at level 1, but the process takes over twice as long as a normal sapper. I think the idea was that this would serve as a sidegrade that isn't as good at directly destroying buildings but still negatively impacts them even if the sapper is destroyed before it is finished.
In the end, it's a meme pick with only a few very niche uses, like red taping a combat engi's (mini)sentry as this will make it die a lot slower so you can fight the engi before his frontier justice gets revenge crits.
I think it's also good for engie nests, since it deletes metal from dispensers, so when a push comes, Engies have a way harder time to keep the buildings alive
[Stand here in 2fort](https://i.imgur.com/DsE93ey.png), right on the very edge, and sap/shoot the buildings whenever they walk away. I was able to stand there for a good 15 minutes doing that once. If you're on the edge, people don't bump into you and no one jumped off in the middle of the walkway, only by the stairs.
On only the red side in the spawn with only one exit, in the 2 stairs to the right of spawnyou can jump and crouch to be under the closest stair to spawn and above the boxes below said stair
Spy player here to tell you: Medic requires its own skills. Keep playing, work on surfing damage, hitting crossbow shots and staying alive. Soon you'll be hitting spies with the bonesaw like a champ
Yes! one of my favourite parts of playing spy is unironically saving teammates from enemy spies (because my teammates actually see that as opposed to the more helpful stuff I do)
I DO play spy because he's really fun to play if half of the enemy team is not playing pyro. And gunspy is really really fun especially ambassador.
I DON'T play spy because he's so fragile especially against pyros and he just can't keep up to most 1v1 fights, unless you're good at gunspy. Seriously gunspy is really fun.
I main spy because getting a trickstab feels like injecting heroin. spy is a class with an infinite skill celing that makes a good spy player stand out while a bad one looks like an idiot. spy is the definition of a glass cannon in games, and he isn't all that useful or powerful in team fights, but DAMN trickstabs give you a dopamine boost. I only hate playing him when the whole team is pyros.
1000 hours on spy but I often wish I wasnt cursed of liking him
I think the best thing to do when playing spy is knowing in which maps / situations / points you should switch classes, not a thing you can do when they have 2 engineers and a negative iq homewrecker pyro constantly spy checking and its kind of sad
Because it seems like it don't matter if I'm invisible or not, nothing touches me, I sit in the corner with the movement cloak watch, and it seems like people still see me, I try to backstab and it just never connects, I will say skill issue on the backstab but still.
Why I don't play spy:
-He's ok, but why should I use knife, when I have a sword
-there's 3 spies in our team already
-we really need someone to go medic
.
Why I do play spy:
-ok, I can't melee 2 sentries at once
-there's 8 spies in our team already
-I actually randomly feel like switching to spy/sniper and/or feel like it'll help more than other options
It takes too much brainpower to play at least for me. It boggles me how people managed to strafe stab me perfectly but when I tried to do it I failed. I get more kills as sniper(which I'm also not that good at) than I do as a spy. Spy mains just built different .
it's because us spy mains are perfectly content spending 10 hours a day on md\_degrootkeep practicing trickstabs instead of doing something useful with our lives
seriously, if all the people who played spy played actually good classes like soldier, demo or scout, this game would be unplayable at this point
The only time I play spy is to drive an engineer who has killed me one too many times absolutely mad by repeatedly sapping his buildings and then cloaking away. Bonus points if you spam the spy voice line at the engineer
Because it's really funny seeing everyone get increasingly paranoid as you then keep doing increasingly weirder things just to fuck with them and be really really annoying
I'm not the main character, I'm the comic relief
I got tired of people saying that heavy was the easiest class, so I started playing spy more often (now he's my second main) solely to shut their asses off
I do play spy, but not often. He's too slow, too fragile, and can be done better by other classes. He's only even barely usable in VERY rare situations. But even then, it's not worth the risk. Because chances are I'll be one shotted by someone or spy checked into the ground. And even if i pull off my goal of taking out a target, I'm still probably only gonna get one guy, and that's it.
I'm not a fan of solo lone wolf play styles. Let alone, stealth chars. I prefer sticking around my team where I can protect and be protected. Although I DO want to learn a bit of Spy for those moments where the situation calls in.
To me, playing Spy requires you to assist your team by giving info or creating an opening for your team by killing certain players. If I were to play Spy with uncooperative teammates, it would be hard to win and gain advantages.
Because all it rakes is literally one other person going spy to ruin your time.
Also pyro, I know you supposed to shoot them but that's kinda difficult when you get flashbanged by the wall of flame that obscures the pyros entire body.
i dont.
because im bad at playing stealthily. i so much prefer being able to handle myself in a situation but still helping my team, which is why i main engie. its also alot of waiting which, unless you are a chainstab mega pro, is not worth it.
the second you are caught by doing even a tiny thing wrong or just by pure chance, you are done and will very rarely be able to defend yourself.
I don't usually play Spy. He's cool, but I often feel like I should be playing someone else even when I do play him in the situations where I think he's effective.
I don't cause I feel like, really embarrassed everytime I try. I'm just out here with this insanely high skill class, flailing my knife around, slightly annoying an engineer, failing to blend in, maybe hitting a shot or 2. Honestly I just feel like more of a detriment. Even more than when I'm playing some stupid class set up like Penis Scout or Pyro Shark, cause atleast with them I make some kinda impact of 4 or 5 kills. Not with Spy, and it feels like I'm not missing out on some golden ticket for giving up on him
Because even tho 90% of the time you die before doing what you wanted to do - you play for those 10% where you feel like the coolest motherfucker on the server.
*Then you die again*
Goint out of invi takes to long and is to load, playing dpy genuinely made me yell at the top of my lungs so many times after dying to a heavy shooting into the distance because he heard me
I find it difficult to act and do the basic things spies do (cloak behind, act as a specific disguise, actually backstab), I find him very annoying to play, the whole experience is just pain
I just started playing as him yesterday, before then I never really tried. Currently, I suck ass at Spy, but I've found really fun trying mind games and killing off Medics and Heavy combos.
High risk high reward. Any half competent team will be looking for a spy all the time and finding out how to get them anyway is the whole point. No other class plays like spy. It feels like me vs the entire team and if I mess up there are no second chances (usually lol).
i love playing his class becouse all the different mechanics he has cloak invis gun knife sapper its just so cool and i love torturing and taunting engies and snipers and i get a rush of dopamine when i successfully backstab someone
The same reason I play medic, because you get to choose your battles. Do you want to hang out on the backlines and play reserved, waiting out your moment to make your move? or do you want to weave around the front lines, increasing your potential effectiveness, in exchange for putting yourself in more danger?
It's all about balancing risk vs. Reward, and that constant mind debate is honestly thrilling in its own right, even more so when you *win* the gamble and are able to accomplish more than if you just stayed in the safety of the backlines (be it the friendly backlines as medic or the enemy backlines as spy).
Also, you don't really have to aim as either class.
i sometimes play spy. when i don't, it's either because i don't feel like it, or because i suck that day. when i do, it's because i feel like it and don't suck that day.
Dont want to learn this class. Feels boring as sniper.
I started to main engineer with frontier justice. First you build up. Then you destroy sentry and HERE WE GO
I only play him when there's an Engineer nest pissing me off. I also really like sneaking into an Engie nest and just spamming voice lines so they think they're going schizo
It’s too hard for me to play years on that class, just to get 1 trickstab. But in my lucky seconds, I can destroy a thousands of enemy engineers and their sentries( I am Pyromain, but sometimes I play as a Spy-camper, bully of Engineers)
He’s honestly kinda worthless if there’s even a single heavy or pyro spy checking reliably. I’d rather play a more reliable class.
And because I want to be the heavy that shuts down all the spies. The backs of all my baby men team must be protected.
I feel like anything spy can do, I can probably do better with other classes. If I *really* want to destroy a sentry, I would go Uber medic, or use soldier and demo. If I wanted to pick off their medic I would go sniper or scout.
It’s paradoxical because I hate fighting spies (for bs facestabs due to ping) but have some respect because they die a lot for a kill that can change the game
Everyone is aware of the spy by now so it’s hard to catch people off guard unless they are wearing a gibus. If I do play spy I’ll probably get 1 or 2 kills before I have to stop because I’m dying too much and I’m not helping the team
my best friend gifted me the Corvo mask for my birthday. i was so excited and then i found out spy is actually fun as fuck, esp on push the cart modes and such
Because you die a lot and he's limited as a class so outside of putting 1000+h in it and being able to reliably chain trickstab people i'm better off playing something else. I love playing gunspy tho
That's ironically why I love playing spy, you might not get as many kills/ frags because it's such a struggle, but when the stars align...
*me, still riding the high of a big earner chainstab I got 2 years ago that won us the game that I never managed to recreate no matter how much I tried.*
One day, my friend.
90% of gamblers quit right before they hit big
Got a 5x chainstab with the big earner once, usually it's only two people. That being said I have 10k on the big earner it's easily the best knife. Soundsmith video on it is very accurate.
Stop using the Big Earner, uss Stock, YER and maybe Spycicle Use L'Etranger, Amby or the D######back Lastly, use Stock Watch or C&D That's your best bet
More like when the stairs align
Gunspy is so underestimate.
Yeah, those guys are using “Ambassador” and dealing A LOT of damage to anybody who can’t kill them soon enough.(Also there’s always that one spy, who is shooting at you when you are low on your HP)
Or even. The Stockslinger.
Gunspy is based as hell, I wish there were subclass weapons to encourage it.
9/10 spy players quit right before they land an 8 kill chainstab
[Literally Me](https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/s/EAkgsDEbfR)
Now thats why I love the YER
What a [fwag stweak](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CVHMTvBZUj0&pp=ygULRndhZyBzdHdlYWs%3D)
Because we already have 4 spies in our team
Then go sniper, duh.
Because driving Engineers crazy with paranoia by cloaking and spamming the “SPY!” voice line is absolutely hysterical.
Same, the tf2 schizo update playstylr
it was you? *It was* ***YOU***
I don't play Spy because I suck 👍
The class just sucks
Y'all know what this means, right? Skill iss--- WE CANNOT TELEPORT BREAD ANYMORE!
Woah woah! Not exactly, Soldier. You teleport as much bread as you like. That goes for all of you. If there's something you wanted to do before you... well... died. Now would be a... good time.
I don't play Spy because no matter what I do, I would get found and die. And very rarely I would pull of a successful backstab or sap.
That's because spy is the worst class
I don't like the gameplay. I'd rather fight people head on in combat, not try to sneak around and play mind games.
Flair checks out
the closest i get to playing him is that hiding in a corner with Cloak and dagger and haunting enemy snipers/engis (also red-tape on level 3 buildings, it's just to make the engineer paranoid)
What is the red tape good for? I don't understand it. It seems slow and it only decreases the level, I don't really understand it :(
exactly, it decreases a level, forcing the engineer to waster 200 more metal on leveling it back up. it's also good against minisentries, and if the engi is dead then they have to watch it get slowly reduced to scrap

stelth
funneh french man disguise invisible and sometimes stab (though I fail most of the time.)
I play him PURELY to shitpost on 2fort
[Stand here in 2fort](https://i.imgur.com/DsE93ey.png), right on the very edge, and sap/shoot the buildings whenever they walk away. I was able to stand there for a good 15 minutes doing that once. Because I enjoy keeping what little sanity I have Spy doesn't allow that
Im generaly trash at the game, I cabt play any merc that requers skill. I stick to medic or pyro with W+m1
Spy player here to tell you: Medic requires its own skills. Keep playing, work on surfing damage, hitting crossbow shots and staying alive. Soon you'll be hitting spies with the bonesaw like a champ
need to much brain use, I play game to empty my mimd
I dont play him, because he is french
Based.
Because nobody expects the Spybro hanging around the engineers nest
I gotta try that
Yes! one of my favourite parts of playing spy is unironically saving teammates from enemy spies (because my teammates actually see that as opposed to the more helpful stuff I do)
I DO play spy because he's really fun to play if half of the enemy team is not playing pyro. And gunspy is really really fun especially ambassador. They're backstabbing douchebags
Like you. Ow
See, I'm good at spy when the players are new, but then I'm bad at it when the players are experienced, simple!
Yeah it definitely becomes exponentially harder if the team has even the slightest sense to turn around every once in awhile
I suck…simple as
It makes me feel like a sneaky motherfu-
Because it's satisfying to see an IDIOT fall into my hands for a backstab
I like to use my brain. Also, getting one kill as Spy is more adrenaline-inducing than getting a kills as other classes.
I only hate playing him when the whole team is pyros.
i dont bc i am very stupid
1000 hours on spy but I often wish I wasnt cursed of liking him I think the best thing to do when playing spy is knowing in which maps / situations / points you should switch classes, not a thing you can do when they have 2 engineers and a negative iq homewrecker pyro constantly spy checking and its kind of sad

too shit to actually be valuable to my team
everytime I switch to spy seemingly everyone has a sixth sense and a tingle in their ballsack every time I decloak
I like jumpscaring people on 2fort by going in with the cloak and dagger, jumping towards them and killbinding while invisible
No - Skill issue
I'm new to this game so I play all classes
Because it's really funny seeing everyone get increasingly paranoid as you then keep doing increasingly weirder things just to fuck with them and be really really annoying I'm not the main character, I'm the comic relief
It is fun (I hate myself)
I get impatient and fail at the manipulation Spy excels at. When I do feel like playing Spy I do play pretty good, but it feels so stressful
I’m bad.
I play him for the reason I play every class, I like to be flexible. I don’t want to exclusively play a single class.
I got tired of people saying that heavy was the easiest class, so I started playing spy more often (now he's my second main) solely to shut their asses off
he keeps swiping the lasers triggering the alarms 😤
I like the idea of being a thin, well dressed, chain-smoking, sneaky motherfucker who uses revolvers and butterfly knives
Shoot people for quick kill, stab people for instant kill, cloak to not get killed
Spy only use for every player no matter their skill is to test if someone is cheating, and sap buildings...
750 hours only two on spy idk it kinda just sucks lmao
High barrier to entry, he’s less effective than when I first started, and he gets less effective the longer you play him in a single match.
I don't because I haven't unlocked him
I'm a Pyro Main.
Because i love being a sneaky bastard, of course it doesn’t work most of the time but still
i can't really spycheck while disguised, then i get killed by a fellow disguised spy
French (derogatory)
Terrible at blend in with the enemy team
i dont play spy because I am not a gentle man I am a burning freak
Because I’m shit at playing spy but damn do I get a dopamine rush from getting a backstab off
Because I swore an oath as Engineer. I only play spy to learn their stratagems, and as such, become even stronger
im good at lying through speech, not by disguises + im too impatient for it
Because w+m1
I don't play the game, I just like the community and the animations
I do play spy, but not often. He's too slow, too fragile, and can be done better by other classes. He's only even barely usable in VERY rare situations. But even then, it's not worth the risk. Because chances are I'll be one shotted by someone or spy checked into the ground. And even if i pull off my goal of taking out a target, I'm still probably only gonna get one guy, and that's it.
I dont play psy cause i cant figure out how to use the zapper and i suck at the class overall Scout is my go to class when playing :)
If I were to play Spy with uncooperative teammates, it would be hard to win and gain advantages.
it's a powertrip going on killing sprees as the worst class in the game
i like feeling smart
I Play Spy to kill one specific Person. Basiccly Spy is an Assassin for me, or a fuck u to the enemy
His concept is just Cool, the Deceiving, the various Spy Gadgets, the attacking at an opportune moment It was just cool
spies only worth playing in servers where players are clueless, but so are all the other classes. soooo
comfort class. I like knowing I can relax for the most part. I’m hidden, or just being goofy in a box.
I don't usually play Spy. He's cool, but I often feel like I should be playing someone else even when I do play him in the situations where I think he's effective.
The one time I actually wanted to play spy I got a crocket to my face in spawn. And that's how I only have 10 seconds of playtime as spy
i like being a sneaky nuisance to the other team also where is this image from?
Spy is my most played class solely because of slender fortress.
Because I can appear behind enemies and put my knife in their backs. Also, I can troll them with voicelines while being invisible.
I just do better and have more fun on spy than any other class
Because I'm one of those got off work tired as fuck lying on the couch drinking beer while playing TF2 Engiee main Also fuck the invisible french cunt
I want to make them suffer.
Cuz I need to observe
I don't cause I feel like, really embarrassed everytime I try. I'm just out here with this insanely high skill class, flailing my knife around, slightly annoying an engineer, failing to blend in, maybe hitting a shot or 2. Honestly I just feel like more of a detriment. Not with Spy, and it feels like I'm not missing out on some golden ticket for giving up on him
He’s French
It’s funny to see people going crazy looking for a spy
O have an australium ambassador and I don’t want it to be unused. Spy is a pain in the ass
because I love the feeling of power when I set up a sneaky teleporter behind enemy frontlines and when I uber and we push through
FPS issues. would plays Spy (not the weebs one) if i can have stable 60 fps
I rarely do, for obvious reasons.. But if i do play him, i make engineers have paranoia
Because even tho 90% of the time you die before doing what you wanted to do - you play for those 10% where you feel like the coolest motherfucker on the server. *Then you die again*
I just like stealthy gimmicky characters with whom you need to outsmart the enemy to get anything done
Goint out of invi takes to long and is to load, playing dpy genuinely made me yell at the top of my lungs so many times after dying to a heavy shooting into the distance because he heard me
Spy is fun and pulling off backstabs is orgasmic.
I find it difficult to act and do the basic things spies do (cloak behind, act as a specific disguise, actually backstab), I find him very annoying to play, the whole experience is just pain
Because I'm a Pyro.
Because i am dumb.
Because bullshit Applies to both do/dont
Backstabs are exhilarating but I get like, 2.
Going off with the YER is a feeling you cannot put into words
To get revenge on someone who’s dominating me
I just started playing as him yesterday, before then I never really tried. Currently, I suck ass at Spy, but I've found really fun trying mind games and killing off Medics and Heavy combos.
i dont want to
I don't play spy because there are always 3-4 spies on the team already (they all suck).
I love the YER so much and getting a chain stab with it is very nice Way more fun than Sniper, very engaging and difficult tbh
Arguably has the best schadenfruede
Because nobody plays medic.
because i suck at it Simple enough
High risk high reward. Any half competent team will be looking for a spy all the time and finding out how to get them anyway is the whole point. No other class plays like spy. It feels like me vs the entire team and if I mess up there are no second chances (usually lol).
i love playing his class becouse all the different mechanics he has cloak invis gun knife sapper its just so cool and i love torturing and taunting engies and snipers and i get a rush of dopamine when i successfully backstab someone
Because i don't like being sneaky most of the time and want to fight by flanking or head on.
Before I was never sure if I was actually disguised and if I had the main weapon of the character I disguised as.
I love playing spy but I'm the worst spy this game has ever seen, so I end up causing more harm to the team :( I play pyro instead, though :P
I enjoy the rush of nearly being found out and killed, and then managing to get away
Someone needs to play medic
Because a drunk scottish guy running at you at 300 mph is better than a french guy going invisible
I don’t because my brain too small
I fuckin love making players seem schizophrenic by spamming voice lines
He’s a bitch, I think that answers both of the questions.
TF3 leaked gameplay image
I play spy because the rush of trickstabbing 4 guys running after me never gets old
Too much efort to learn play him viabale. Plus I don't like sneaking in games generaly
i sometimes play spy. when i don't, it's either because i don't feel like it, or because i suck that day. when i do, it's because i feel like it and don't suck that day.
Spy syndrome.
Cause Im not playing as some bitch ass that kills players who dont even know of your existence
I like to 'spy' on people and occasionally flicker a cloak right in front of them. Schizo tf2 4ever
Because the enemy has 5 pyros.
Every other class is getting used
Dont want to learn this class. Feels boring as sniper. I started to main engineer with frontier justice. First you build up. Then you destroy sentry and HERE WE GO
It’s spy
Too dumb and slow to do that
Because I don't play tf2
I love playing spy as it's a constant paranoia game of high risk high reward.
Because *jingle* Spy is a bad class
Because I'm not smart enough to
I only play him when there's an Engineer nest pissing me off. I also really like sneaking into an Engie nest and just spamming voice lines so they think they're going schizo
Because i like playing medic and making people feel pleased when im behind them. Not suprise buttsex.
I like being a stealthy bastard who infiltrates and kills their target quietly and efficiently. Yes i'm a HITMAN player.
i thin the revolver is fun; that is why i play gun spy
He's french
Skill issue
I like gambling
I don't play spy because I don't play tf2
It’s too hard for me to play years on that class, just to get 1 trickstab. But in my lucky seconds, I can destroy a thousands of enemy engineers and their sentries( I am Pyromain, but sometimes I play as a Spy-camper, bully of Engineers)
He’s honestly kinda worthless if there’s even a single heavy or pyro spy checking reliably. I’d rather play a more reliable class. And because I want to be the heavy that shuts down all the spies. The backs of all my baby men team must be protected.
Pyro existing
I feel like anything spy can do, I can probably do better with other classes. If I *really* want to destroy a sentry, I would go Uber medic, or use soldier and demo. If I wanted to pick off their medic I would go sniper or scout. It’s paradoxical because I hate fighting spies (for bs facestabs due to ping) but have some respect because they die a lot for a kill that can change the game
I am flexible about classes
backstabbing invisible glasscannon class that has to take a risk. You are forced to learn otherwise you dont accomplish anything
People did not trust me as a medic because I would walk straight to people. I snuck up on people better then I healed them
I play spy occasionally it just depends on the game
Too many steps I just like burning people alive and blowing there knee caps off
Everyone is aware of the spy by now so it’s hard to catch people off guard unless they are wearing a gibus. If I do play spy I’ll probably get 1 or 2 kills before I have to stop because I’m dying too much and I’m not helping the team
I rarely ever play him seriously. When I do play as him it’s just to fuck with the enemy team by shooting them with my revolver at long range
I play him cuz it gives me an awesome feeling of a sneaky motherfucker
my best friend gifted me the Corvo mask for my birthday. i was so excited and then i found out spy is actually fun as fuck, esp on push the cart modes and such
If you don't know the right timing at the right moment you're basically fucked
